  1. I'm sending in a snail mail order and my question is, what's the Lab's address?? The one on the Lab's site is different from the return address on the box for my last order received(HGM/CT III). I would guess it's the return address(received after the Lab's recent move), on the recent order, but since the site's *just* been updated...???

    *confused*

    TIA :P

  2. In the imp: Sweet, smoky amber with a *very* light, minty sage in the background.

On wrist: Starts out just like above but within 10-15 minutes it's all deep, rich smoky amber with hints of frankincense & basil swirling about in the background. I tested this late at night and it wears well, didn't fade but a bit overnight. It's close to the skin after all those hours but remains just as lovely. On me it's not at all a masculine scent.

I originally wanted this for my love, Anthony :D Kinda had to try it, right? It's AMAZING on him. Same gorgeous amber but his chemistry brings out the frankincense a bit more than it does the sage and basil. The leather is barely there, almost imagined. On him, it's all masculine. I don't know if it's the description and power of suggestion, but this is most perfect for him. The whole hardcore alpha male/warrior's heart thing...um yeah and :P

Bottle in next order for sure.

  3. Hmm, almost exactly what Sonnett typed except that it never gets too cloying. Does start out a bit on the medicinal, wintergreen/herbal side but quickly turns to a gorgeous, barely sweet, smoky incense and woods scent.

It doesn't stay with me long, unfortunately, but it's quite beautiful nonetheless.

  4. Dragon's Blood, immediately. There's something else here, though, keeping it from going super-sweet-powder-gardenia on me, as it usually does. There seems to be a touch of jasmine in this, too. Again, it's not screaming out at me like it normally does. After a couple of hours there's the addition of what strikes me as a very subtle, creamy vanilla. Allergies acting up, however, so don't quote me on that last one.

As far as it's purpose, it definitely brings on a feeling of calm and safety. We've been dealing with some negative crap around here and this has helped bring on the feeling of "it's all going to be okay".

  5. First sniff for the imp is a lightly sweet, sharp green. On skin, the sweetness strengthens to a slightly acrid/dry incensy powder, the comparisons to Al-Azif are dead on although unlike Al-Azif, this one isn't 'causing the irritation to my throat that was so heartbreaking with A-A.

Within minutes the amber comes through beautifully without compromising what's already there. There's a *very* slight Hexannacht-like something in this.

Dark & almost menacing, smoky sweetness. I love it.

    Definitely big bottle worthy. Damn.

    :P

  6. First sniff- Urd with pineapple.

On wrist- Yep, still getting the light grape and yummy incense from Urd with the addition of pineapple, *maybe* apples and...mint?? Eh? A slightly cooling mint, not very strong but definitely there.

Fortunately, the pineapple note fades to almost nothing leaving behind that lovely, sweet incense from Urd without the strong grape wine note. Nice throw and staying power.

I wasn't sure about Shango, pineapple, bananas...No thanks. Coconut likes to go WAY strong on me, too, occasionally, but not this time =) I like this one!!

  7. I've not "put this to the test" yet so I'll review it on scent alone for now, although imo, the various TALS/purpose oils should never be used as *just* perfume :P

Sweet, honeyed lemons. The honey is very subtle and there's a tad of powder to it as well as the tiniest hint of something creamy underneath. Amazing throw.

Again, as far as effectiveness, I can't say yet but so far all the TALs I've used work really well. I can say that I was feeling a bit down just before I applied this and now I'm feeling a bit on the brighter side. I feel more positive than I have all day :D

  8. In the imp: Strong, spicy floral. Almost designer "perfumy". Not good. I'm not a big fan of florals...

On wrist: The perfuminess(is that a word??), dissipates within seconds and this turns into a gorgeous, spicy floral with a bit of sweetness in the background. After about 20 minutes, lovely, sweet, floral incense. The sweetness in this feels dangerous. A seductive, come hither, before the fatal bite.

Very nice throw without overwhelming and lasting power is good, too.

Do really need to add this to my bottle list? Can I really afford to? No. Am I going to? Yep.

    This is beautiful.

  9. The smoke of Sacred Incense of Apollo twined through laurel branches, bay, and honey wine.

    In the imp: Sharp herbal.

On skin: It's green & herbal, then...spearmint?? Like spearmint tea almost. Clean and refreshing but without the "coolness" of spearmint. Dare I say(type) it...I'm also thinking toothpaste :P All this within the first five minutes of testing.

Twenty minutes and counting...Finally, could it be...is that...smoke and spice?? With a hint of incense and honey?? VERY light, it's almost as if I have to go *under* the skin to get even a fleeting whiff.
Bah! Just when it starts to live up to the description, which is obviously why I wanted to try it, it fades away to almost nothing. Stupid chemistry. I'm not giving up on this just yet, though :D

  10. Another winner!

At first, in imp and on wrist, this is all designer perfume. A bit..."Chanel'ish", which one, I couldn't say atm, but it's strong.

It starts to settle beautifully into a lazy, hypnotic scent after about 15 minutes or so. Has a bit of a dry feel to it with a *very* lightly sweet, spicy smoke lingering in the background. After about an hour, sadly, it all but disappears, leaving barely a hint that it was ever there. There's a bit of a powdery something at the end that seems to disappear into thin air.

Lovely blend, wish it stayed with me longer.

  11. This comes through as a light, spicy jasmine both in the imp and on my skin. Not the "normal" BPAL jasmine which SCREAMS it's presence(on me), obviously. This is soft and gentle. It's a touch sweet with a hint of something sharp(if that makes any sense), almost like running your fingers over the petals of a rose and suddenly piercing yourself with a wayward thorn. The *feeling*, not the scent so much, is bittersweet. The jasmine scent eventually disappears leaving behind a gorgeous, lush & spicy floral note.

It fades to almost nothing and then suddenly, there it is again. It's soft, gentle and somewhat creamy...This one slithers up quietly, hypnotically, dangerously...and does it beautifully.

  12. A lethal poison bundled up in a dainty, innocent little package that was oft times found in ancient witches’ flying ointments and astral projection balms. A warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild.

    This is really beautiful!!

At first sniff it's a sharp green-with-a-hint-of-spice-vanilla & freshly dug dirt. On skin it turns to a creamy vanilla and cedar with the dirt lingering quietly in the background. Within 10-20 minutes it's so light I can hardly smell a thing unless I plaster my nose to my wrist but then it strengthens and becomes the most gorgeous, spicy vanilla. The sweetness is subtle. The fresh dirt note is still there but barely. It remains close to the skin but I catch whiffs of it here and there. Wears well after getting past the disappearing act of the first few minutes.
I just might have to get a bottle of this :P

  13. In the imp: Sweet, but not bubble gum sweet. I'm one of the fortunate ones, I don't have that problem with lotus =)

Upon application: Immediately goes spicy opium perfume and then within one to two minutes settles down to a GORGEOUS, rich, musky amber and lotus with a touch of spice. The pine resin...Not getting pine so much as just a lovely resin that adds depth. The opium lays low in the background but doesn't disappear. The scent, in general, tries to go light on me, to almost nothing, then comes back as if it's taken a deep breath and exhaled gently.

Hypnotic, dreamy, a womanly scent. A woman tangled up in satin sheets, completely satiated, with hair clinging to her still damp skin. I'm going to have to hunt down a bottle of this, no question.

    This is...absolutely beautiful.

  14. This is a very light, airy perfume both in the imp and on skin. There's a candy-like sweetness to it, not overpowering but always in the background. After about thirty minutes I started to get a headache but it subsided soon enough. The sweetness has morphed into something that almost but.not.quite. reminds me of the honey in O.

Very nice blend but a bit too light for me.

  15. Not one on my list to try(even though it's a favorite for so many)..Frimp from wonderful LJer =)

In the imp~Rich vanilla with a slight smokiness to it.

On skin, rich and creamy vanilla with something rather like fresh, clean soap in the background(linen??). This reminds me quite a bit of Dorian but lighter on the tea. The man sniffed my wrist and said, "Mmmm, caramel apples? I like it!!"

It started to go way light shortly after application but has strengthened since. No dry flowers but that kinda soapy smell lingers. About an hour after application he sniffs again, "Vanilla and...something...nice!" Unfortunately, this has started to REALLY tickle my nose and I can't stop sneezing. Might have to try it again in a couple of weeks, it's lovely.

  16. Couldn't wait to try this because I LOVE Beth's honey notes :P

When I started to open the imp, the first thing that hit my nose was a very light baby powder smell...ICK *worried*. As soon as I was able to get a good sniff, honey *whew*. It's a lighter honey on me with a touch of sweetness and something *almost* creamy, but not quite, and definitely not foody. Decent throw and lasting power. That baby powder thing, which is just foul to me, threatens to rise it's head now and again but never quite makes it. Lovely blend but I think I'll have to try it a couple of more times to be sure because, well, that baby powder thing *cringe*.

  17. Not quite burnt butterscotch and rum. On skin I get a bit of an aquatic note as well as a VERY light hint of fresh coconut. The rum fades to the background(but doesn't completely disappear), and I'm left with smoky-sweet concoction of pure yumminess :P

For those who wear different blends according to the weather/time of year, imo, this one works year-round. The fresh coconut, while super light, makes it great for the warmer months while the smoky sweetness gives it a depth and richness that makes it perfect for fall/winter.

  18. Out of the imp, generic herbal BPAL. On skin, :P SO quickly turns into one of the most wonderful things to ever hit my nose~~There's definite "grittiness" to it but not like the dirt in say, Zombi. My chemistry tends to amp fig(LOVE fig!), it doesn't here. While the fig is there, it doesn't overwhelm. The date and currant give it a subtle but perfect touch of sweetness.

This is a ripe, womanly scent. Dark, decadent, and yes, languid.

    Beautiful!!!

  19. In the imp I get a sweet something I can't quite place. On skin, there it is, peach. White peach, to be specific. There's a *very* slight hint of amber but mostly, this is all peach. It's also a very light scent and seems to fade quickly to almost nothing.

    Lovely, but not for me.

  20. Green and herbal in the imp and when applied to skin. The lavender is the strongest but not overpowering. Masculine but soft and light enough to be worn by a woman. After about an hour the amber and carnation make their appearance and this settles into a beautiful, rich and slightly sweet spice.

On the man it sticks to the more lavender, masculine side with the moss & amber floating beautifully in the background. He's claimed this one for himself :P

  21. Ocean Spray Pink Grapefruit Juice. Same after application on skin with the addition of canned pineapple. While I love both(to eat), I don't want to smell like either and since I'm not big on the summer/fruit scents, this one will be looking for a new home where it'll be truly loved :D So if you're a fan of citrus and tropical fruits, this should be a definite winner for you :P

Don't get me wrong, it's quite lovely, it's just not *me*.

  22. CCXVII(317)

    :D

In the bottle~dark, thick burnt sugar and syrup.

On skin, a background of sweet, incense and smoke swirls around and there are hints of something Jack-like that peek through. Incense, resins, burnt sugar and something that screams Al-Azif & there's a very light, creamy vanilla going on here, too =) There was a weird acrid note in A-A that, sadly, really irritated my throat, it's not in this, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is BEAUTIFUL!!! The most perfect way to describe this one is Al-Azif meets Jack meets Sugar Skull :P

This is PERFECTION~although my love disagreed, "burnt maple syrup and ass"~His sense of smell was WAY off, obviously, heh. With the exception of this bottle, he loves the same BPAL blends I do and loves them without any influence from me, I never tell him what I think of a blend until after he sniffs/applies.

ANYway, so far this is the only CT3 I've purchased and it's a keeper!!!

    Thanks Beth!!

P.S. My love is a keeper, too!!

  23. CCCLXXXII(382)

    Sniffy from a friend(thanks, Pen!!).

In the imp this is a lightly sweet, creamy floral, not unlike what I got from The Living Flame. A velvety, rich red scent. I recognize it but my mind is drawing a blank. Anyway, on skin it's more of the same, *very* similar to TLF. Fades to fairly light pretty quickly, the *squish my nose against my wrist to smell it* kinda light & then suddenly, it's back, then gone, then... Hmm, one of those... :P

    Still, quite a lovely blend!
