  1. Toad

I don't get "motor oil" or anything scorched. I do get a very clean and inoffensive cologne with a slight touch of tobacco. It makes me think of a male teacher actually, in the sense that's it's sort of clean and pleasant and slightly masculine - perfect for work.

  2. This is really straightforward on me. Goes on very rummy with a nice general sweetness in the background. Dries into a very Christmasy scent with touches of cinnamon, but also comes off as sort of cologne-y in a way (must be the rum). Nice scent, though it faded VERY quickly on my skin.

  3. This goes on a lot like Midnight Mass (a comparison someone else made also I believe) - it's very warm and golden, and definitely frankincense and myrrh. The difference for me here is that The Magi is sweeter and dries into an almost foody incense. On the other hand, nothing else really pops out at me in this scent so it may be similar enough to Midnight Mass to not warrant having both. I'll have to wear this again!

  4. Very salty ozone to start with, but warms up into a softer ozone with warm patchouli and a tiny tiny hint of leather. Very unisex in my opinion, would make a really nice soap I think since it's quite clean smelling in a sort of unusual way.

  5. I was afraid of the rose in this, but it turns out that the rose is actually pretty subdued in this. I definitely get the ginger over it - the effect is a sort of clean and feminine rose scent with a slight spicy sweet edge. It's a nice take on a rose scent - it's got enough going on to be interesting and to work for most occassions.

  6. Rose and jasmine both hate me. My chemistry amps both of them and neither one smell good on me unfortunately. In this scent though, I would have thought the rose would be the strongest, but it turns out it's the jasmine. And for having notes in it that I normally consider rather "heavy", it's a really light scent on me. It is vaguely sweet.

  7. I am so surprised after reading the other reviews that I am getting so much rose out of this. I mean, my body amps rose but in this, it amps it to the point where I never would have guessed any of the other notes. It does dry into a slightly muskier scent, but still very much rose.

  8. This delicate, spectral perfume gives rise to an eerie distortion of of the senses. It bestows an ephemeral, ghostly, and truly haunting quality to your presence. Green tea, lemon verbena, jasmine and neroli.

Very bright, pretty citrus at first - zesty and "vivid". Dries into a more candy like citrus though, like lemon drops but with a background of jasmine :P

  9. In a very odd surprise, Lilith Victoria goes on not at all like Dorian OR Snake Oil on me. I don't get either one at first. I DO get strong lavender and a sort of clean herbal vibe with a touch of baby powder. It's very clean and refreshing, and makes me think of something (a shampoo maybe?) that I can't put my finger on. It's the kind of clean scent I'd want to wear when I want to smell clean but not soapy.

In the very late stages of this scent, it really does smell like Snake Oil and Dorian though. If someone is looking for Snake Oil + Dorian, I would suggest that you buy those and mix them up. But if you're looking for a totally different scent that has attachments to those two scents, Lilith Victoria is for you. Love this pretty scent, it's gonna be a year round type of scent for me I think :P

  10. This is very similar to Samhain and Samhainophobia on me. The difference for me is that Fearful Pleasure is slightly sweeter and more apple-y (but a tart apple, not a red delicious sort of smell) than Samhain. But it's got the same spices and Autumn vibe to it. So if Samhain was too husky for you, you might try Fearful Pleasure as an alternative :D It's pretty but certainly won't take my Autumn scent crown from Samhain :P

  11. This was not quite what I was expecting. It's not nearly as foody as I had anticipated, and is a rather subdued berry scent (though I don't quite get strawberry, just a faint sort of berry scent) and caramel. It's pretty light from the start on my skin and dries into a faint scent that almost has a floral note to it (hard to describe as it does not remind me of a specific floral, but instead is just sort of vaguely fruity floral in vibe). My skin eats this unfortunately and it's gone completely in 20 minutes.

  12. I feel like I am missing something here :P My skin must be eating all the notes in this except for rose and a faint incense sweetness. It's VERY VERY light - for rose, that's pretty remarkable on my skin as my skin tends to amp and blare it. But this is really faint incensey rose for me.

  13. Ahh bpal cream note strikes again with the terrible scent of soured milk/urine. I don't know what it is, but that note just goes all wrong on my skin chemistry. Both Milk Moons did the same thing on me :/ LUCKY for me though, that note disappears after about 2 minutes. Which I'm very thankful for because underneath it is a soft, comforting tea scent with a gentle beeswax smell. It's very soft and close to the skin but quite pleasant.

  14. This goes on very strong on the galangal and has a sort of dusty quality to it. But then comes in the apple and what I assume must be the "nutmeat" (that makes me giggle. Yes, I'm juvenile). It's warm and sort of spiced so this has a wonderful Fall feeling to it. In a way, this reminds me a lot of Harvest Moon - very fall like, but with mossy and dry qualities to it as well as the spiced apple quality.

  15. Smells like buttercream in the vial but immediately turns to anise on my skin. The orange is faint and subdued, but present enough to be noticeable. It has a sort of powdery custard note to it too, it's all really faint on me - this stays close to my skin and has little throw.

It smells delectable however, lightly spiced, lightly sweet - it's a really nice mixture of those elements of foody/spiced/fruity - the only downside is how faint the blend is. All the same, I think I'll be needing a bottle!

  16. This has a clean, soapy smell to it on me. Like Irish Springs - it's kind of a green soapiness, but still has that "shower fresh" smell. The sandalwood is REALLY toned down in this for me, so even in the drydown the effect of this scent is very unisex and not very woody. A really clean scent.

  17. Definitely goes on mango! It's really bright and fruity, tropical edged pumpkin. The myrhh comes out and warms this up a bit but the coconut pulls a no show and never really comes out on my skin at all.

The end result is a pumpkin scent that is a little tropical and fun, though the pumpkin is pretty faint in this one.

  18. Indeed! Musk + leather = Brom Bones. That's it in a nutshell. This scent is simple, comforting, and exactly what it says it is. It's masculine and warm and simply lovely. I'm keeping the imp even though it's too masculine to wear, just because it's so damn yummy to smell!

  19. What is so odd about this blend is that on my skin, the teak is stronger than the leather and it's pretty rare for anything to outdo leather on my skin. This is a really woody scent with tones of leather underneath. The tonka doesn't come out much on my skin other than a faint sweet quality, which may be the pumpkin and not the tonka.

  20. CEDAR. This goes on like a big ol cedar chest on me, it's very strong. I can definitely smell the cherry tobacco also (smells like my bro is smoking his pipe in my bedroom hehe). In the drydown though it becomes almost all cherry tobacco and honey so it's quite sweet for most of the perfumes wear.

  21. This starts as bright grapefruit - it's deliciously tart! It does settle to be not such a bright citrus, but the overall tone is still clearly citrus. It's sweet and girly and I like that it tones down the nutty quality of the pumpkin. This is one of my favorite BPAL pumpkin scents I think, thumbs up!
