    Magus

Cedar and frankincense! This scent has a very old and "magic" vibe to it - I don't see the average guy wearing this one, it seems more ... mysterious and even odd. It is very strong on the cedar I will say. This scent isn't for me OR for my husband, but it's unique enough to have made an impression on me

    Harlot

Wow. Yup, that's rose alright. NO mistaking that for absolutely anything else - this is strong roses with a sort of wet smell to it. It's very potent and I do not get any cinnamon at all. Take that for what it's worth though, I am just not a fan of rose!

    Mechanical Phoenix

I definitely don't get metal here, but I do get strong men's cologne. Not in a bad way, I actually think it's pretty sexy and would smell downright fantastic on a guy. Not quite what I expected though and it is VERY masculine. Great masculine scent however, I will be keeping my imp just to make the hubby try it on

    Blood Phoenix

As other people have mentioned, it is very grapey and dragon's blood at first. It settles down A LOT when it hits my skin though and it becomes muskier and less fruity. The drydown reminds me a lot of the original Hunter Moon - incensey, winey and musky all together. It's actually nearly identical on my skin! This is really nice and I love it for all the same reasons I love Hunter Moon. It's very smooth but husky and just pure yummy.

    Green Phoenix

It smells quite nice - very green and refreshing. The mint is VERY subtle to me here - the cucumber is much more prominent in this blend. It's a smooth green scent that is very light (almost too light, it's a bit difficult to smell even right after I applied it). If this had nicer throw I'd probably seek out a bottle, but it just doesn't stick around long enough. It's very pretty though and if you love a good green scent, it's worth a try

    White Phoenix

Comes across as a very clean floral at first - like white florals and clean cotton together. On the drydown, it becomes slightly muskier though and it warms up in tone a bit. Despite the fact that I'm not a floral person OR a "clean" scent person, I think this is appealing. Smells like spring in a way, and makes me think of flowering trees.

    Ivanushka

If Buck Moon is a buck, then obviously Ivanushka is a fawn. It's a soft, gentle and slightly powdery scent with green tones and musky notes. It's like baby Buck Moon hehe. I think if you mixed Buck Moon and Enraged Bunny Musk together you would get something a lot like this - it's very appealing in that it's a pretty non offensive, generally pleasing scent that could work on most people in most situations. It is very soft though and if powdery scents aren't your thing, this might not be your cup of tea. I personally think it's really lovely, though I don't know how often I'd reach for it, I certainly appreciate this scent.

    Hony Mone

I've said it a million times - jasmine ruins scents for me. And yet, I keep trying to make it work lol. This is more of the same - it is STRONGLY jasmine at first, but dries down into jasmine backed by lightly honeyed fruits. It is predominantly jasmine though, so if you find that you don't get along with jasmine - this is probably going to be the same deal for you. But if it doesn't bother you, I'm sure it would be quite lovely on someone else's chemistry!

    El Dia de los Reyes

Sadly, this is another BPAL chocolate scent that just didn't work out for me. It's dusty cocoa powder and slight spices but no coffee (which is what I was really hoping for). Those who love Candy Butcher will no doubt love this one as well!

    Black Lace

This musk is not as sweet as I was expecting or hoping for - it's a more pungent (for lack of a better word) musk. It mingles with the incense and creates a rather strong smell, that almost teeters on the precipice of "old lady" smell, without actually going over into it. The tobacco is the saving factor on my skin here - it takes the musky incense and pungent odor and turns it more spiced and slightly warm and exotic. This is a very mature perfume - I see this as being a woman's scent - slightly sophisticated and sexy but refined. I do like it, though I can't seem to make up my mind if I just like it or I REALLY like it. Every sniff I take, I seem to think something different. It's very lovely though and I'm glad I have a bottle!

    Poisoned Apple

I am always disappointed to read what others get out of BPAL apple scents, because it makes me envious lol. For some reason, BPAL's apple note is just always "off" smelling to me. Never quite like a red apple, always a little "mossy" smelling really. Every single apple scent I've tried from BPAL. This is no different, unfortunately. It's a little bitter and quite green, with the opium doing it's funky thing in the background. This is just my chemistry though, if you have had better luck with BPAL's apple or opium notes, this is probably going to be a totally different experience for you. BUT, if you're like me and you get mossy, bitter apple from BPAL apple blends - this is probably going to be the same lol.

    Sophia

When this first went on, I was a little turned off by the jasmine and lavender - they were both overwhelming. But literally in just half a second, it morphs into an unsual powdery herbal scent. It's feminine but unisex in a way too - I don't know if that makes sense but I think it smells feminine in it's powdery clean vibe, but then the herbal quality makes me think a man could wear this and pull it off too. After a while, I do get something a little... menthol-y. It's slightly medicinal. Surprisingly, the jasmine isn't awful on me here and I can't detect the rose at all. Despite those facts, it's still not really for me, but I am sort of intrigued by it at the same time.

    Plunder

I LOVE cinnamon, I do NOT like cassia. Cassia always goes crazy on me and just smells too overwhelming (usually killing other notes). I had to chance this one though because of the pirate theme and the hope that the other notes would prevail. Unfortunately, they do not. This is very much a strong cassia scent (a lot of people confuse cinnamon and cassia - but they are distinctly different to me) and it does very much overwhelm the other notes. The unusual part of this is that it goes on very "loud" but dries down to a very close skin scent. I like it much more when I've been wearing it for a while and all the notes are soft and I can even get a little tobacco and it's much woodier also. If you like Bengal, you'll probably like this too - I think the two are very similar in a way. I am on the fence about this myself though. The later stages are very nice, but I'm not sure if I really would use a bottle of this or not. Guess I'll need to wear it more to figure it out.

    Vampire Tears

A very soft fruity floral - mostly grapefruit and jasmine. The jasmine is actually behaving on me, which is pretty rare (as in, it never happens). This is soft and girly and I could see this being a really great summer or spring scent. Simple, clean and a little fruity but mostly floral.

    Scorpio 2007

A very deep and resinous scent, this is sort of mysterious and I think something in it actually smells quite a lot like anise (must be the wormwood?). If I had known it was going to smell so anise-y I would have bought a whole bottle!

    Horn of Plenty

Banana laffy taffy? Am I the only one getting banana? I don't know, but I hope not lol. It smells a lot like tanning lotion to me - banana and warm vanilla and a sort of smokey vibe. Some almond in there? It all comes together beautifully. Don't know if this oil does what it says it does, but it certainly smells nice and is very unique!
  17. Brianne

    Dragon's Claw

A very simple blend - mostly sandalwood, but really on the "woody" side. It goes on like Dragon's Blood but quickly turns to sandalwood. Simple but wearable if you enjoy sandalwood!

    Hetairae

This was one of those blends that I had always wanted to try but just... never did. Lucky me, I got it in a swap today! (Thanks Sistinas!). It is VERY patchouli at first - patchouli and honey, but mostly the patchouli lol. I don't get fig or clove in this, but I does become somewhat powdery in the drydown. I suspect that's probably the honey - the end result is pleasant. I don't think I'll keep this because I have a lot of patchouli blends I really love, but this is nice!

    Egg'd Mailbox

I was totally afraid of this one. I mean, what if I got this and it was boiled eggs and salt? lol. But I was pleasantly surprised to find this smells of egg custard. Warm, smooth, golden and sweet. It does get powdery and spicey too, in a really unique way. I can't describe this one, but I'm so glad I have it. It's totally different than what I was expecting. Very different and I'm so glad I have this one

    Pumpkin Cheesecake

Definitely more pumpkin than cheesecake here. That tangy cheesecake note isn't really there, though I do get a buttery vanilla and a carroty smell and brown sugar? Mostly pumpkin though, which tends to be a little dominating on me. It's pleasant and foody and does make me think of Autumn (and winter too actually because it makes me think of the holidays) so I'll enjoy wearing this now and then, though it isn't my fave of the Inquisition scents. ETA: oh wait, I totally take that back. After a while cinnamon starts to come out more and more and I love this more and more. Now it's way spicier!
  21. Brianne

    TP'd Trees

I was worried like many others that this was going to be really woody and piney. Thankfully, it's not! I think the last thing I expected with the Inquisitions was a clean scent, but here you have it lol. It's soft and powdery and clean and makes me think of some of the snow scents. It's very unexpected and totally pretty

    Sugar-Slathered Candied Apple

In the bottle this smelled strongly of sugar - sort of like burnt sugar actually. But when it hit my skin, I could smell the caramel strongly. I always have issues with the BPAL apple note though - it's always sort of boozey smelling and green (not like a Granny Smith, green like moss) so it doesn't always vibe well on me. I think the sugar and caramel balance it out a bit so that I'm not turned off by it, but add to that the fact that it fades quickly and I only feel so so about this one. Like it enough to wear it, but I dont love it. Definitely a fun scent though! (and if you don't have issues with BPAL's apple note than you just may love this ) Smells really similar to Creepy on me.

    Spiked Punch

Holy crap you talk about a boozey smelling scent. In the bottle it smells of straight up alcohol. My brother and I smelled it next to a bottle of Jack Daniels and THIS actually smelled boozier, no joke. When it hits my skin, it settles down a tiny bit and it becomes fruitier. But the idea that it's spiked punch is pretty true - it smells just like spiked punch. Slightly fruity, really boozey. I feel like I should get dizzy just smelling this lol. I like this for the novelty - I will probably wear it too, but I'm just fascinated at how much this smells like spiked punch lol.
  24. Brianne

    Marshmallow Poof

FRUIT! I was not expecting that lol. In the bottle it smells all sugary and fluffy - a sort of sugared vanilla. The very moment it touches my skin though, it's softer and fruitier. I think that's cherry. This has a sort of fluffy pink smell to it - very pretty, though unexpected, and totally wearable in my opinion. I was worried this was going to be too sugary (as BPAL sugar blends tend to go blech on me) - but I shouldn't have worried, I totally love this

    Pumpkin Smash

You know, pumpkin is one of those notes that I always want to love but that never seems to work out quite right on me. Pumpkin always dominates on my skin and always smells nutty, rather than buttery on my skin. So it's no surprise that I mostly get nutty pumpkin with this blend. BUT! I do definitely smell asphalt. I had forgotten that was in the scent, and when I tried this on, the first thing I thought was, "This smells like pavement". It has a sort of gritty, dark smell at first. Then it becomes a bit smokier. But it is very much a pumpkin scent on my skin. The upside is that it's different than other pumpkin scents because it's less cozy and more dark. The downside is that I don't see myself reaching for this very often, if at all. I'm going to hold onto it and wear it on a cold Autumn day to see if it changes how I feel about this one
