    Shattered

This is my all time favourite BPAL oil that I can wear anywhere and I'd been hoarding my imps of it since its discontinuation. I am understandable ecstatic about its resurrection. The first time I tried this, the mint was very prominent and coupled with the slight sweetness in the scent, reminded me a lot of after dinner mint chocolates. After that first test though, I stopped hallucinating chocolate and Shattered had settled down with my skin chemistry as a pure, soft, sweet scent with a unique freshness from the mint. The background of the mint adds a depth and touch of sadness to what could have turned into something oversweet. Apart from the obvious mint within the scent, it is excellently blended and distinct notes are very difficult to discern. On my skin it doesn't mutate much at all (apart from the one fluke appearance of the chocolate ) but stays soft, sweet and clear. I really do love this scent!

    Belle Époque

In the bottle - Mandarin and lily. No vanilla. Le sigh. Wet - Liquorice. Bugger. Opium, why must you hate me so? Still no vanilla. Dry - I don't think that elusive vanilla will be coming out to play. On the plus, the opium has settled down, giving this scent a rather cloudy feeling in general, yet strangely chaotic. A cloud of opium and lily of the valley (two of my not-so-favourite notes ) with sharp stabs of mandarin poking through. Belle Epoque smells vaguely like how a drunk hedgehog that accidently got between Jackson Pollock and a canvas might look. A rather bizarre work of abstract art. While certainly unique, this is just too off the wall for me. That, and the fact the opium is dissolving into liquorice again...

    Ahathoor

Holy hell. My god, this is radient. This was a freebie imp and I think I have finally found my perfect Egyptiany scent. This strikes me as similar to Salome but without the violent, distracting almond and also reminisenct of Bastet, except warmer and more substantial. I'm thinking Egyptian amber here. A light musk of some sort and... myrrh, maybe. This is warm, gentle, glowing and sublime. This is the sun on your face as it sets or rises, colouring everything gold. In other words, this is my favourite time of the day in liquid form. *dies of bliss* *resurrects briefly* Oh, and I'm not getting any of that citrus others have found, by the way!

    Paris

I got Bubblegum-of-DOOM!lotus in the bottle then less sickly lotus and lavender on my skin. The lotus misled me for a good hour or two and conning me that it was tangerine. Right now, it has cooled down to lotus with a slight lavender tinge. Luckily, I'm rather fond of lotus and this scent conjures up enough images of romantic summers with lots of laughter and possibly dancing that I just have to keep it. This feels lush, loving and full of smiles and joy - a beautiful, fairytale love story in a bottle. Very french. This imp is a keeper for happy summer days. You just couldn't wear such a happy scent like this in gloomy, rainy weather.

    Salomé

This was a frimp from my first order and in the bottle it just yells almond and something ominous else which I don't like much. What? I'm bad at pinning names to smells. Anyway: ominous almonds. On wet: Now we have a cheerleader squad jumping up and down screaming ALMONDS and waving pom poms. But the ominous note has vansihed. So right now, I smell like sweet marzipan and have a craving for cake. Dry: Still keeping that gorgeous sweetness I have fallen in love with completely by now. Almond still is there but it's been shoved out of the limelight now by... yeesh, I have no clue what note is making this so amazing but I need to get lots of it, soon. This is golden, eastern and feminine, in a mature and confident way. It make me think of an asian fortune teller in a beautiful, richly decorated tent in the desert, if that makes sense. Later: It softens into a stable, smooth, still slightly edible (but no almond to be seen now, yay!) version of the eastern fortune teller type scent of previously. But my skin really eats it up. I don't blame it, I wanna eat it. In sumary: I'd never have picked this one in a million years but I'm so glad the lab threw it in. Good chance of a big bottle here! *sniffs wrist compulsively*

    Kostnice

This is my first BPAL and at first it is soapy tinged but still pleasant. A little later. I'm getting lily here, lots of lily and geranium. Floral? Oh yes. And it does smell rather holy. What I found great about this scent was how much it smelled like the room in the back of a church where they arranged the flowers - flowers, cleanliness and something else I can't wuite put my finger on. It brings back strong memories of youth and innocence: when I was a child, going to the back of the church (through the flower room) to give a message to the priest and not being sure whether I was supposed to be there. In summary: a comforting floral that is very peaceful. But not a real winner for me. I'll definitely use the imp, but not bottle material on my skin. A final strange note - my mother is convinced this smells like sugar and indian spices. I am indeed confuzzled... ETA: That brief soapiness I mention earlier? Came back with a vengence later, engulfed everything and gave me such a headache I had to wash it off. Darn.
