  1. When wet, smells like pine and wood - actual, freshly cut wood. It's...odd. I'm not sure I'd wear this outside of ritual. As it dries it smells more of juniper than straight-up pine. And little bit minty, like toothpaste?

I agree with other reviewers, it's very outdoorsy, but for me, not the strong pine of Mistletoe, it's very woodsy. Not getting any berry, though? Lots of throw on drydown.

Overall I think I like this, and could still smell it on my arm the next morning.

  2. Sugar Cookie: Oo, syrupy sweet, like a butterscotch candy. After drydown though, it goes all smoky with the slightest burnt twinge, like a wood fire that's been dousedwith water, but about two hours later. Yet the butterscotch lingers over the top...the Devil's Bake Sale indeed! Alas, poor Mr Devil, I will not be making a larger purchase of his cookies...

  3. Hmm, starts off all cinnamon red hots with an underlying hint of...civet?? Something strong, in any case, something that I don't usually care for, but which really works in this blend. Actually, I think it might be patchouli, which I adore!

Immediately after drydown this turns into Candle Shop, near the Autumn Scents section. Now, you might think that's bad, but in actuality I'm :P'ing this scent - woot!

  4. The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut.

Rose Red '05 definitely has more dirt in it than the '04. However, once on my skin the rose comes out during drydown. Oddly enough, after about twenty minutes, both versions smell sweetly green, with a hint of rose. Thankfully other people can smell the rose on me, so it's all good.

    :P

  5. Hmm, that's a toughie.

Having said that, I'm a slatherer. I hit up 6-7 points on my body when I slather, and find most imps - assuming they're above label - give me at least 10 applications. However! These are for oils that aren't all that thick. Thicker oils might have fewer applications. Of course, my skin also drinks oil, and ymmv.

eta: I've actually yet to empty an imp, even ones like Rose Red, Venom, and Eve...

  6. This review is for the '05 which, from reports, is pretty much the same as the '04.

In any case, Mistletoe pretty much owns my soul. It's a soft pine - but not like Golden Priapus - like a Christmas tree. That fresh, oh-so-green scents, but soft green, like freshly mown grass. On my skin it remains true for hours, even when I can no longer smell it (Mr Oro says it's fabulous, though).

    :P

eta: this is my first OMFG scent of the Yule collection. :D

  7. Dear Peacock Queen -

Oh, how I wanted to love you, as I love Rose Red. When I opened my bottle, however, I was actually expecting a strong scent of rose...and instead, it's a rose so very light I can barely detect it. A tea rose that I can taste in the back of my throat.

So this morning I decided I'd slather it on anyway and hope for the best. And once again, I can just barely sniff your presence on my skin. Why, Peacock Queen, why?!?

Alas, both of my bottles will be going bye-bye. :D

Peacock Queen, you've broken my heart.

ETA Feb 1, 2006: Well! I opened up my remaining bottle on a whim and discovered that hey, the rose has greatly strengthened! I now smell a lovely pink tea rose, one still watery, but much stronger. Alas, my skin drinks it in quite quickly, but I'm now happy to keep my bottle.:P

  8. Juniper? Ozone? There's definitely an alcoholic tinge to this, and the ozone bite is very...ozoney.

Overall, it's not for me. The alcoholic tinge never goes away, and it's pure alchohol, not something I want to smell like.

  9. Orange? Light rose? Whatever the floral is, it's very faint. This is a lovely, sophisticated oil for a sophisticated woman who moves in the highest levels of society. Very feminine, but powerful, too. Don't mistake the woman who wears this for being a pushover, no no no...

I like it, but I doubt I'll wear it. Nice oil, though!

  10. Huh. Okay, I'm going out on a limb with this description, but so be it. Basically, on my sking, Bayou is quite reminiscent of burning tires. On a breeze, mind, but burning tires nonetheless. :P

Definitely the strangest reaction I've ever had to an oil.

  11. Wet: jasmine...greenery...peaches...

Drydown: fades quite quickly, perhaps too white and high for me, though.

Overall: I've changed my mind about this, as my skin has brought out the peach. It is high, however, reminds me of drinking peach schnappes when I was a kid - in fact, I drank the whole bottle despite my stomach's protestations. :P

Anyhoo, it's nice, but very feminine.

  12. Oh, more orange blossom, which I really just need to avoid at all costs as my skin makes it Bad, Very Bad. There's other stuff in here too, which reminds me of how clay tastes. Thankfully it all fades fairly quickly, but that orange blossom remains the primary, overwhelming scent.

  13. Omg it's my nemesis, orange blossom! :P Oh, it's all so wrong, so soapy and orange blossomy, so bitter and gah! Thankfully it dies down, and hours later becomes a lovely spicy scent reminiscent of Spellbound, but without the rose. Unfortunately, I can't wear Spellbound either...

Off to the sales it goes!

  14. Imp: smells like O with the spiciness of Snake Oil...I too smell almonds, with perhaps a bit of musk as well?

Wet: Hmm, now there's something vaguely floral, heck if I know what it is, but the scent gets 'louder' as it dries...

Drydown: There's a smidgeon of soap, and a deeper sweetness...don't really know how to describe it.

Overall: Haunted's younger - and innocent, while still being completely licentious - cousin.
