  1. Truly the scent of autumn itself -- damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.

Water, saponified organic fair-trade palm kernal oil, coconut oil, soybean oil, organic fair-trade shea butter, castor bean oil, jojoba oil, sandalwood powder, Samhain fragrance, and alkanet powder.

I don't think I've ever reviewed something first!

Samhain has a beautiful paper wrapping with leafless trees and grave stones printed on it.

Dry: its scent is much mellower than the scent of Samhain oil.
This may start a riot, but it smells quite a bit like Hexennacht actually.
I'll report back after a shower...

In shower: its scent is very faint once wet, but the lather is creamy and delightful. A slight play-doh note can be detected in this stage.

After shower: just barely lingers on the skin.

  2. Oh no. A sweet, fruity floral.

It is a total mess on me...in the vein of 51.

My chemestry flattens out all the nuance leaving only:

    Expensive Department Store Perfume.

I love Stardust, but the scents seem not to be for me AT ALL.

    :P

  3. Dracul reminds me of Old Spice.

Something with a bay rum feel might work as well...Mr. Nancy, Jolly Roger, etc.

(Dirty secret: I like Old Spice.)

Ok, so my fabulous boyfriend is stuck on Old Spice...and, Lord love him, it's what my grandfather wears. And, nothing against my grandfather, but when I cozy up to my hot blonde boyfriend the last thing I want to be thinking is, "...Grandpa?" :P

So can anyone rec a good substitute/similar blend? I've pretty much told him, "Look, I'm going to put this on you and if it smells good and doesn't make your arm fall off, you're going to wear it, ok?" and he shrugs in his noncomittal way - his way of letting me know he's not so much wanting to make a change as he wants to make me happy (and is also too lazy to escape from my evil clutches, mwahahahahaha!).

    OLD SPICE -

    Top Notes

Orange, Lemon, Spices, Clary Sage, Aldehydes

    Middle Notes

Cinnamon, Carnation, Geranium, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Pimento Berry

    Base Notes

Vanilla, Musk, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Benzoin, Tonka, Ambergris

  4. This is very mentholated on me. I was hoping for something more chypric...what with the ambergris and moss.

This might sound weird, but I am going to put some on my dog.

I think I would suit her and she's just had a bath.

    :P

  5. Maybe 51?

My mother and sister both wear Miracle exclusively. I'm glad they have something they like, but I think BPAL is nicer, plus I'd really like to get them onto a company that doesn't do animal testing. I'll be visiting them next month, so I want to make them imp packs of good possibilities.

Here's a couple descriptions of the notes:

"Delicious, dewy, this bright and modern oriental exquisitely blends a fruity lychee top note, a flowery middle accord shot through with ginger and pepper, and a rich musk-and-amber end note, into a delicate yet zesty fragrance"

    "Top Notes

    Lychee, Freesia

    Middle Notes

    Magnolia, Ginger, Pepper

    Base Notes

    Musky and Amber Notes, Jasmine"

So far my best guesses are Kiyohime Changes From a Serpent, since it's got lychee, musk, and a flower, and Dolce Stil Nuovo, with flowers, musk, and amber. Your ideas would be greatly appreciated! :P

  6. For a light scent this is incredibly strong...like "taste it in the back of your throat strong".

It is sharp and a bit fruity-sweet and calms down into something else after a while.

The drydown is clean and snappy. I think if I don't end up swapping it I will make it into a linen spray.

I've yet to find an 'aquatic' fragrance by anyone that smells like the sea on me.

  7. Very medicinal. Reminds me of a dreaming blend that I had years ago. The chamomile is strongest to my nose, with a sweet grassy element, that smoky crush of benzoin.

Oddly enough, it's very pretty and wearable.

  8. I am an absolute slut for gardenia.

LOVE it love it love it.

I can not wear the Lab's gardenia.

It smells strongly of fake butter and coconut on me.

    :P

This was harsh and chaotic and mellowed down into buttered popcorn Jelly Belly, coconut suntan lotion, and baby shampoo.

    A sad tale, this.

  9. I LOVE this one.

It is soft and sweetly rosy, with a salty, faintly herbal edge.

It is the only BPAL aquatic that has not turned into Irish Spring via my unfortunate chemistry.

It doesn't smell sea-like, just wet.

    So pretty and gentle.

It reminds me of something from my childhood.
