  1. Unfortunately this one didn't work out for me - I think honey lovers will find it amazing, but I have issues with honey scents smelling musty-ish to me. Very disappointed as it was my first bottle purchase, and wish it worked for me like the other people above my post.

  2. In the bottle and first application: Men's cologne. :( Hubby to be said it reminded him of urinal cake smell. :( As it dries, the vanilla peaks through as stated above and it gets sweeter, but this one is sadly not for me. I prefer Snake Charmer for this type of resinous scent.

  3. This is a crisp and fresh perfect rose, no doubt about it. Though it's gorgeous, I prefer the creaminess of Katrina Van Tassel and not the crispness that turns powdery, that I smell in this oil. (I noticed a previous reviewer mentioning wearing this with O and I couldn't agree more, it almost needs something else to smooth it out to be able to wear it nicely.)

I am debating whether to swap it or see how it ages, or use it as a back up for when I get through the rest of my 1/2 bottle of Katrina. Decisions, decisions!

  4. On first sniff, I immediately though, MMMMM, PINK!!! A cousin to Midway, I don't smell Sticky Pillowcase at all - the pillowcase to me was like a piece of caramel that had gotten left in a pants pocket and washed in the washing machine, where this one makes me think of girlie Valentine's candy. I tested a dab and thought I smelled fabulous. Hubby to be, in the car said, "What's that smell?" I exclaimed, "MY candy oil!" He wrinkled up his nose and said, "It smells cheap."

*sigh* Off to swaps it goes, though I think it's pretty damn good, sweet, and girlie without smelling like some crap from Claire's.

  5. Pottersville said what I wanted to. I love the scent, but it seems to disappear 30 seconds after putting it on, which totally freaks me out. I thought it would have more throw and be somewhat darker, not so watered down seeming. It is sweet, pleasant, fruity, and very purple. :P If the throw was better I'd love it a lot more.

  6. I ordered this one expecting light and sweet, but instead, found the scent more dark and foody than I would have liked. On me, there's a miniscule touch of berry and linen, but on me, it's overwhelmed by a brown sugar, caramelly darkness. More like an evil candy scent then the light, fun scent I was expecting. (I was hoping for something similar to Midway or more innocent girlie scented) Not bad, good throw, but still not sure yet if it's a keeper for me.

  7. When I was little, I had a "Barbie Perfume Making Machine." One of the perfumes you could make was a rose one, and the minute I smelled this oil, I remembered being 6 or 7 and playing with that toy. I was also reminded of Rose Red from many years ago at first sniff too. As someone said, this is a "formal" rose scent. For some reason, it almost seems wintery and cold to me too, and not a scent you'd wear on a warm summer/autumn day. I will be stowing mine away for when it's cooler out and trying it out again then. Very pretty and pristine.

  8. Yes!!! I am so glad to come here and see I am not the one smelling the nag champa!! I love how sweet and incensey this smells on me, just wish it lasted somewhat longer on me - Midway was the same way. I do detect a hint of jasmine as well and it is lovely.

Between this one and Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller, I'd never have to change perfumes again if I wanted to, as I don't see myself ever growing tired of either one. You're the best, Beth!

  9. Red musk, vanilla bean, pomegranate, patchouli leaf and wild plum.

I absolutely love it when Beth's oils are dark and thick, like this one. I am a huge fan of patchouli even though I've had bad luck with it in the past in some of Beth's blends where it was just too masculine on me. This is not the case for Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller. This is perfect for a night out, sexy, feminine, but with that earthy feel I LOVE. Putting the musk and patchouli with sweeter scents like the vanilla and plum was just pure genius. Now I need to figure out how many I will need to stockpile before this series goes away!

ETA Sadly this caused a bad reaction on my wrists - major welts, so I had to sell it shortly after this review in 2006, so sad!!!

  10. OMGBBQ!!!!

I am so glad I read the reviews for this one or I may have missed it. I am coming in late to this party, but I made it.

This is so sweet, but so complex and sophisticated - not sweet enough on me as in foody, just a touch - but I want to slather myself in it. Way to go Beth, this is one I plan to wear ALL the time!!!!

  11. OMFGBBQ!!!!

This is what I expected Snake Oil to smell like in the past.

This is rich and sexy, and I absolutely freaking LOVE IT! I love how sweet, yet sophisticated it smells. Very original, and I can already hear the compliments I am going to get when I wear it tomorrow to work!!! I'm so glad I was able to swap to get this one!

  12. I smell the cinnamon right away, then it morphs instantly into a sophisticated crushed burgandy velvet vibed scent. It's sweet, then turns more musky on me as it dries, with wafts of incense swirling about it. The final change is a perfume I could see Elvira wearing. Gorgeous, but a bit too heavy for me.

  13. I got this gem in a swap from OriginalWacky and I am so pleased with it! It reminds me of Spellbound, but smells sweeter on me and more feminine. Incensey and sexy, it just really smells great on me I think. After application, I really smell the incense and neroli, and very light rose. Love it!!!

  14. Powdery rose goodness!!! And what's insane is that it smells like my Grandma always did (even more than Rose Cross), and her name was Beatrice. I think it's a really lovely scent and one I'll treasure always, though it makes me feel extremely nostalgic and makes me miss my grandma even more. I feel so lucky I was able to buy a bottle from someone as I couldn't when it was for sale. To me, the spice is light and the florals more potent.

  15. ...The autumnal scents of gladiola, chrysanthemum, aster, dahlia, anemone, bergamot, marigold, sage and verbena dust a blend of wine-soaked apples, plums, and red pears, mulling spices and brown sugar, the ivy leaves of Dionysus and Janus’ amaranth and lingum aloe.

I got an imp of this and my first thought was, this smells familiar. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about Queen of Spades. I think they've similar, and both very good. Harvest Moon on me is fruit and spice and everything nice! Gorgeous, I wish I had bought a bottle of it!!!!

  16. Thanks to Evon, I got an imp of this one, and it couldn't have come at a better time. :D Seriously, I agree with Barb, this should be sold by the bucket.

I'm horrible at detecting notes, but the minute I slathered some on, I felt this strange sense of calm, which I've needed greatly these past few weeks. It's a floral, but an unusual one to me, almost mixed with incense. I think I'm going to die when I run out. :P Heaven in a bottle ladies - GET SOME!

  17. I got this one as a frimp and honestly it didn't do it for me. Smelled astringent-like, and a bit too woody for me. I like earthy scents, but this one had a weird Ben-Gay quality to it and isn't something I'd want to wear. Shame.

  18. Ohh, this one is a possible 5ml purchase! I love the sweetness and grapiness of it - a juicier, deeper grape then I smell in Urd. It has a touch of floral and bubble gum sweetness to it, and instantly put me in a great mood! :P

  19. How cool to get an unreleased frimp!!!! And especially this one, since it's such a hot day! Minty, like fresh mint leaves!!! Very cooling when I put it on - would go well with the Lush Melomint bbs I plan to use this weekend! The florals come out softly after application - don't think I will get a 5ml of it, but I will enjoy using my imp!
