  1. In the Bottle: A very heavy, musky peach. It is a very warm scent and immediately brought to mind a ripe peach that has fallen from the tree and continues to ripen to mush under a hot summer sun.

On the skin: I can detect the papaya now, but the syrupy peach still steals the show.

Drydown: It was still a little too cloying, even an hour later. The musks are definitely not working for me.

Overall: I was imagining a more refreshing peach (possibly because of the "liquor" part of the description), so I'm a little bummed at how warm and heavy this scent is on me. I might give it a little more time and try it when the weather is cold again (it's been nearly 90 degrees in Feb. here), which might change my mind.

  2. When I was on the job hunt, I decided to use Block Buster before an interview

I brought my imp with me, intending to apply it in the car beforehand. I was so nervous I spilled on more than I intended. I tried to go into the building's restroom to try and wash some of it off beforehand, but you needed a doorcode! So I had to go into the interview slathered in it! Must have worked, 'cause I got the job.

  3. In the bottle it smells like fresh cut grass, and that doesn't change that much when wet on the skin. A few minutes later though, the scent evokes those rain-soaked leaves as salt wafts in.

For awhile after dry-down I get a sort of masculine aquatic cologne, but about an hour in I get the same kind of notes that I smell in F5. I love F5!

I can't wait to wear this when the weather gets cooler and it starts feeling like fall.

  4. Maenad, where have you been all my life?!

I love strawberry scents. This strawberry is a little too sweet though, but that's where the florals come in and make it turn smokey and awesome.

My only complaint is that it seems to fade very quickly, but I can always try it in a scent locket.

  5. In the imp the scent reminded me of a tattoo parlor. Not a seedy one, but a clean, bright place with colorful people and smooth leather chairs. I got a little herbiness that turned into a sunblocky scent. Not the coconut kind, but something that you catch a whiff of on a crowded warm beach. Maybe that's actually the musk? More sun-warmed than dark to me.

About 30 min later I'm still getting the sunblocky musk with the leather. It is pretty masculine so I'll see if the fella would want to try it.

  6. Sleepy Moon:

A nearly-narcotic blend of opiate-touched bark and blossom reflective of the bleakness and solitude of winter, the quietest point of the year : black opium poppy, bamboo pulp, ylang ylang, lavender, chamomile and white sandalwood.

In the bottle: Sleepy Moon smells a bit like Rosemary to me. There also seems to be a hint of sweetness in the background. This definitely reminds me a bit of the Apothecary.

On the skin: It smells like a lovely floralish soap! Not quite the "soapy" white soap smell that some scents tend to fade to, but more like a soap made with dried purple wildflowers. The scent is somehow both very green and purple at once. Oddly amusing!

Dry: This really really turned to a pine scent on my skin. Another sort of heady scent lingers too, and I get a wiff occasionally of the initial soap smell.

Hours later: This scent totally did not take a liking to me. I was hoping it would end up a more chamomile smell; the perfect scent for falling asleep to. But it ended up going kind of chalky green herbiness on me. I still feel very strong connections to the Apothecary, which also didn't work on my chemistry.

Overall, the scent was long-lasting, and is a very nice and calming green, herb-y, outdoorsy oil.

  7. This smell is wonderful! It reminds me of roadtrips through the desert.

It is a very dry scent, and definitely conjures up standing outside a hot, dusty roadhouse in the middle of summer.

  8. My mom isn't sharing my enthusiasm with BPAL, so I'm trying to find some that are similar to her favorite perfumes: Realities and Cashmere Mist.

Someone recommended Black Pearl and Dana O'shee for Cashmere Mist in another thread, but those are not quite what I'm looking for. I didn't see any Realities threads. I ask for and welcome any suggestions for either scent.

    Here are the descriptions:

Realities Perfume is classed as a revitalizing scent possessing rich floral notes. A sensual blend of rose, freesia, jasmine, lily, carnation, peach, bergamot, sage and chamomile is combined with warm tones of amber and vanilla.

CASHMERE MIST is classified as a refreshing, woody fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of fresh floral jasmine, scents of sandalwood & vanilla.

    Thanks!

  9. Definitely a green, fresh scent. I can smell grass and what I believe to be the tulips, and also running water. I'm picturing a little valley with a stream amidst grass and wildflowers. Very nice. Makes me feel cold, which will be prefect for the impending summer.

On drydown this gives me a bit of salt, which I don't mind at all.

  10. Holy.

This is the best thing I've smelled probably ever.

In the imp I wasn't too impressed. It smelled citrusy, which, as people are saying above, must be the bergamont.

When I put it on, there was still the strong bergamont smell, but I could also smell the tea and the leather.

On drydown, the citrus smell fades away, leaving a nice light tea and leather scent. What I like about the leather is that it's not the harsh leather from Whip, or the dusty saddle leather from Highwayman. It reminds me of a soft, pink leather bookmark my grandmother once had.

This is a definite purchase for me.

  11. I'm still not sure about this one yet. I'm getting a heavy lime popsicle smell when I wear it. I can't discern many other notes, except or mint. I do enjoy the mint, as do my kitties.

I will definitely give this imp another try later on in the month.

  12. In the imp: a very wet, fruity smell. The rose doesn't stand out very strong to me. I can smell the lightest hint of incense.

Wet: smells the same as the imp! The rose comes out a little more on me, but everything mixes well together. There isn't one note I can smell more than others. The scent itself is still very wet.

Dry: the rose went away a bit, and I'm not sure what I'm smelling, I think the wine. It smells very full and alive.

Overall: hours later it's all but faded to this light, very nice, incensey smell that I really really love. Definitely will look for a 5ml.

  13. I love this scent!

It reminds me of the soap I used to use at my grandmother's house when I was a kid. Brings me back to her clean, blue house.

It also invoked camp back when I was 10 years old, right after it had rained early in the morning, and the day was beginning to warm up. Lazy, early sunlight curling around the grass, little bugs flying around.

Definitely a nice, clean, white, sunrise scent.

Definitely not too masculine on me.

  14. When I first put it on, it smelled very woodsy and cool. But as it dried on me, it became a very dry scent. It was a hot day, and I could almost not stand it, it smelled so dry. I felt really dehydrated for the rest of the day, which was probably a psychosamatic reaction.

I think a great place to wear this would be in or near the actual ocean, a pool, or in the rain. Perhaps water surrounding you would enhance the oil's dry tinder scent.

I'll try to mix this with one of the aqua scents and see what happens.

  15. This was one I really liked when I picked up a 5ml at the Black Broom. It smelled so lovely, like real strawberries. It is very similar to the Victoria's Secret strawberries and champagne scent, though Bon Vivant definitely smells like fresh strawberries, rather than that synthetic candy strawberry.

Wearing it right now, it's a little too cloying. Very very sticky sweet smelling. Reminds me of how the glasses smell after we drink strawberry vodka. I may not be able to wear it, and instead use it sparingly as a room or car scent.

  16. Damn. That is all I can really say! It does smell exactly like rich, moist soil. Zombi was close, but Graveyard Dirt is just...rad. It's the perfect earthy smell.

Reminded me wandering down a foggy, misty dirt road after it has rained, cool air, and intermittent sunlight.

I can't get over how it smells so perfectly like freshly turned soil.

  17. In the vial: sweet, sweet cherries, also a bit of a sharp note.

Wet: The cherry scent does stick. But the cherry I smell is darker than a maraschino, a little heavier and less syrupy. I can smell other tones too, but I'm a BPAL newbie, so I'm not sure exactly what it is I'm recognizing.

Dry: The cherry smell keeps up a bit, but it's dried a bit to a root beer smell. I don't particularly like root beer, per se, but I do enjoy this scent.

Overall: The scent stayed warm throughout the day the first time I wore it. As I wear it today, it's fading quickly, and a lot of the scent was washed off when I accidently got a bit of water on my wrist when I washed my hands. It also has an vaguely metallic scent now. Hmm.

Anyway, this isn't my favorite ever, but I will definitely use the imp.

  18. I do enjoy the cherry scents, so I was really excited for this one. I'd gotten an imp of Kabuki also, and thought they smelled very similar.

Wet: Enjoyed it very much. Can pick out the cherry smell, obviously, and something that smells a bit green. What I smelled kept changing, seeming as if the scents are undulating, vying for attention.

Dry: When this dried, it turned a bit soapy on me. The cherry went away, leaving only a musky smell. I'm not a big fan of musky smells. I'm sad this didn't agree with me, because it smells pretty good in the imp. I'll have to try this somewhere else and see if it works.
