    Silk Road

On me, this should be called Gone In 60 Seconds (But Very Nice While It Is Around) It's on, it smells lovely and interesting, then it goes. Chemistry, oh where is thy sting!

    Grandmother of Ghosts

There is no need to list the notes, as others have done that far better than I could. suffice to say this is a beautiful, INTERESTING oil which captivates and entrances. It is warm, woody and and slightly floral all at once. I wish it had a smidge more sillage and lasted a bit longer (I get a few hours out of it, but no more than 3) but aside from that it is a delight - in the imp and on skin. Just lovely.

    Tempest

Ozone scents don't do much for me personally, but if they are your thing, this is a very nice one. Clean, fresh, smooth not sharp. I get citrus and ozone, no pine. Not terribly long lasting on me - it had faded altogether in less than 6 hours. Not a lot of throw.

    Omen

Deep, mysterious, and full of dark portents: oakmoss, juniper berry, myrrh and patchouli. A frimp from the Lab. Thanks Labbies. : ) Dark and foreboding, this one. The earthy dark notes anchor it. Patchouli is a major player. The drydown has a medicinal, astringent feel to it. It's interesting, It is not an other-worldly scent, it is more an underworldly scent. There is almost something subterranean about it. Very little sillage - stays close to home. Reasonable lasting power - I can JUST smell it 8 hours later. Interesting.

    Mantis

Although this smelled very citrusy in the vial and initially on skin, once it started to dry down it became ... pretty! It is a really pretty creamy floral/green/citrus around the edges scent. I am surprised and charmed by how endearing this scent is. It fades very quickly on me, however.

    Wolf Moon 2004

The (I assume) lunar oils give this a hint of an aquatic note. THat said though, it is not a light scent, nor is it watery. Like many others, I get a foresty sort of feel from it: green but not sharp, growing green. More dormant and still. I think I can smell a slight floral note, but I have no idea what it is. It is a quiet and introspective oil. It has good throw and so far is lasting well. Very pleased I got to try this one.

    Haunted

A darker, more subterranean amber blend, this one has almost resinous note to it. A very haunting oil which wears beautifully. Good sillage, and lasts reasonably well. I am catching wafts of it as I go about my chores. Very nice indeed.

    Casanova

A classic men's cologne. Beautifully put together, delightfully refreshing, it is a pleasure from start to finish. So very different from what I would normally order, thanks to the Lab for sending this as a frimp so I could experience another facet of Beth's skill as a perfumer.

    Flower Moon 2005

There I was all set to love Milk Moon. I only ordered Flower Moon because - well, it was there. Milk Moon proved not for me, but Flower Moon is lovely. I'm not a floral fan, I have to say. I have a strong preference for woody, incensey blends. So it gives me great pleasure to say that FLower Moon has a hint of sharpness, a hint of crispness. It is not cloying, not overwhelming. It's NOT like getting hit in the face with a bouquet of flowers. It's more like taking a walk through a field of flowers. It is airy and refreshing. Delightful.

    Milk Moon 2005

When this arrived with two other 5mls (Flower Moon and Arkham Revisited) my co-worker liked this one the most. Enough to immediately put some on. She smelled fantastic. I left the opened package on my desk because that's the sort of low-key work place we are (it's a small country school) I came over to work again this morning and my co-worker smelled FANTASTIC. I commented on how nice she smelled - warm, creamy, sweet. She smiled and said she couldn't help herself, she just had to put a smidge of Milk Moon on when she came in this morning. So I immediately offered her a decant which she happily accepted. All a flutter with excitement, I put some on tonight after my shower. Firstly, it is STRONG. It has amazing throw. It really lets you know it's out there. Secondly, on me it is too much. Too sweet, too caramelly, too custardy. As it dries down it becomes less overpowering, but interestingly still maintains the Big Throw it has. Sadly, I think it's a swapper for me.

    Alecto

A sharp, green woody astringency makes this an interesting scent. It fades fairly quickly but while it hangs around it makes quite a statement. Not a soothing or comforting scent at all, but interesting nonetheless.

    Lust

It's all about the red musk. Musk to the fore, followed by ylang-ylang. Some patchouli and no myrrh. Long lasting on me. I don't mind it. but it's not one I would reach for a lot. I don't find it lust-inducing, but that might be my age as much as anything else.

    Urd

I'm not a Fruit Fan, but the grapes do not force their way forward in this - they are polite and take a subdued yet easily recognisable role. As it dries, the patchouli comes to the fore. I don't get a lot of incense, sadly. Good throw, so far it's lasting well. Pleasant.

    Scherezade

A warm, spicy musk when immediately applied, which fairly quickly changed to a powdery scent. Then it was gone in less that 60 minutes. Shame, that. Nice while it lasted.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

Somewhere in the drydown for this one I get a disconcerting note that I also get in Shalimar. I can only identlfy it as a Raid note - I have no idea what it is. Otherwise this is a well-mannered, interesting oil that does bear a fleeting resemblance to Angel, but I like it more. The orange lasts and lasts. The sillage is soft, but the scent wears well and is still softly evident 6 hours later.

    Dance of Death

The oil smells darker in the vial than on my skin. As it dries down it has a ... sort of powdery, smoky astringency that is most bewitching. I wouldn't call it a sexy scent (on me) but it is a most evocative and noir one. Lovely. ETA: THis is lasting really well. I applied it 8 hours ago and I can still catch whiffs of it as I move around. The sillage is reasonable too - it is not a close-to-you scent. I like it more and more.

    Bastet

An ephemeral scent that only lingers briefly with a hint of spice and incense, then disappears altogether.

    Hetairae

Ylang-ylang always seems like a golden floral to me, so no surprise that it teams up so nicely with the honey in this one. I don't get patchouli at all, and the clove and fig are background notes. Nonetheless, this is another lovely golden honeyed scent that wears ever so beautifully. If you like golden honeyed scents! Only moderate sillage - it's a scent that stays close to home.

    White Rabbit

I tried this some time ago, liked it well enough but decided to put it aside for another test or two before I wrote about it. I wore it last night and was enchanted by it this time round. I so enjoy honey and honey came to the fore in this for me. In the opening notes I caught mint, pepper and tea, with a drizzle of honey and vanilla. As it dried down the honey/vanilla accord came out to play and stayed around for longer than I remembered the first time. I would still smell the sweetness this morning - 12 hours after applying it. Very nice indeed.

    Brisingamen

I wore Brinsingamen to bed last night. In the vial I noticed amber, amber and more amber, with a faint hint of soft flowers. On my skin it was amber and aple blossom, then I fell asleep. When my partner left at 5.30am to go to work (farmers, what can you say? When it is sowing time they work the strangest hours)I woke and noticed a beautiful, ambery, powdery scent and wondered what smelled so divine. It was me. I love this one.

    Phantom

I was expecting something darker and more dramatic. Instead, Phantom is almost a phantom scent. It is light, but not underwhelming. It is beautifully blended - none of the darker elements overwhelm the florals. Then again, none of the florals go all Big Ass Floral on me. Thank goodness. It dries down to a ghostly, soft, powdery rose. It has reasonable wear, but minimal sillage. In saying that though, I must add that I only put a smidgin on for sampling purposes.

    Nyx

I love myrrh, but in this oil it wars with the jasmine and rose and they take it prisoner. I am not a Jasmine Person, and only tangentially a Rose Person, so Nyx, despite the myrrh, will go to swaps. Not terribly long-lasting on me, but quite strong out of the vial and initially on my skin.

    La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Unrelentingly green, with pleasing astringency and a slight floral accord well hidden by the green main notes. I am a big fan of green scents such as Vent Vert, Chanel #19 and Ma Griffe. This bears a passing resemblance to those. It lasts well, it has reasonable sillage and is quite lovely.

    Dublin

Green, fresh, sharp, with pine for added green. On my skin the rose note is lost after it dries, and the scent remains green and sharp, but not harsh. Reasonable sillage, reasonable lasting power.

    Coyote

A warm and golden amber scent with a hint of dry grasslands. Easy to wear, minimal throw, pleasant. Not terribly long-lasting on me, but reasonable.
