  1. I didn't order a decant of this at first because jasmine and ylang-ylang are usually not good notes for me - but after reading reviews, I decided to jump in and grab one. SO glad I did - the main notes on me are the white amber and the musk - and it is beautiful and lasting and I can't stop smelling myself! Even my DD who is not a fan of BPAL said this was bottle-worthy! Love it!

  2. Torture Queen is such a great summer scent for me. It's cool, bright and clean. On these days where it's 100+ degrees, I always reach for Torture Queen. It stays beautiful all day!

ETA - it's also the 1st scent that my b/f told me to get a bottle of - lucky for him, I already had one!

  3. I just love Hope... Sugared rose is exactly right, and it stays all day, the sweetness mellows out into a creaminess. The throw is kind of light, but it lasts and lasts... and when the temperature rises, Hope floats back up to the top ;)

  4. This is a strange and very out of character request for help from an avowedly non-floral lover, but this week I've been toying with the idea of trying some rose scents. I've been using a small bottle of rosewater with glycerin as my toner and I actually like the smell and (so far) it's not making me sneeze. This makes me wonder if I shouldn't give bpal roses a try. I've avoided them thus far because most florals make me sneeze, and rose struck me as a bit of an old lady scent. But I'm re-evaluating that opinion.

I'm especially intrigued by rose blends without other florals and that look like they might be grounded in nice woods/resins or spices: the new Snooty Rose, Autumn (the retail only slaon blend), Harlot (rose w/ cinnamon), Jezebel, Seraglio, Whip, Rakshasa, Baghdad, London (?)... My initial thought is that I should stick to somewhat simple scents (none of those complex 13 note blends with mutliple flowers, etc).

The scents I tend to wear the most right now are Vixen, a cinnamon heavy snake oil Chaos theory, and Devilish by Arcana. I like woods, most patchouli, spices, vanilla, leather, and some smoke notes. To date, orange blossom has been the only floral I've really loved.

Any suggestions for roses for a girl who tends to dislike most floral blends?

To be honest, I used to feel the same way! I never thought I would like a rose scent, but I now have a whole collection of them...

Spellbound is my favorite of them all - it took a week or so to grow on me, at first I thought it was too much. But I began to crave it, and would carry it around just to smell, lol

Of the others on your list, you might like Harlot and Whip... and if you like the orange blossom, definitely try Jezebel.

  5. Well, White Phoenix, although it was very pretty, was not similar to Desire. I tried Suspiro, and the ylang-ylang was just too much for me. Then I got Black Dahlia (Voluptuous magnolias strewn over orchid, star jasmine, black amber and smoky rose).. I haven't tried them side-by-side, but I think it's closer than anything else I've tried so far. Very floral, yet sweet.

    I'm still looking though... ;)

  6. This is a lovely scent, and I'm so glad I scored a bottle. I see myself wearing this often. I was hoping for more of a floral kick, but the crystal musk and sugar cane really are the stand-out notes for me... Not the holy grail floral scent I was looking for, but beautiful all the same - definitely a keeper!

  7. All right girls, I need some help... My b/f tolerates my BPAL, but prefers me to wear those commercial-type perfumes. So my compromise has been to wear my BPAL to work, and wear stuff he likes on the weekend. Saturday, I spritzed on a sample of Victoria's Secret Dream Angels "Desire". He loved it... but didn't realize it was VS, lol - he told me "Order a 5 mL of that!"

Here's what I got from the VS website:

    Fragrance type: fruity floral

Top notes: white star magnolia, living white freesia, ivy leaves

Middle notes: frangipani, pink peony mist, yellow plum

Low notes: angelique wood, crystal musk, angora accord

Any ideas? I'd love to find a BPAL that he'd like smelling on me.

  8. I got an imp of this because of the recommendations in the honey thread. It did NOT work on me. All I smelled was stale, stank-y sweat. I was a fool and put this on right before work. I hid in my office all day because I was afraid somebody might think I hadn't bathed in a week or so, lol

  9. We did get to both retailers (because my b/f is awesome) :wub2:

At Dark Delicacies, they had all the scents listed on their website, plus a few leftovers from B Movies and the Poe Collection. The owners were wonderful - so friendly and sweet...

At Le Pink, she had much more than what I expected... the Traveling Exhibition Salons, plus some GC scents, plus some Yule leftovers. I was able to sniff Wezwanie/Hold, but unfortunately she was out of Haloes and Mad Kate...

  10. I am not a vetiver fan. To me, this smelled like pure vetiver. Make-your-eyes-water vetiver. I was brave, however, and put some on. it took about 90 minutes, but the vetiver finally calmed down a bit, and I now smell a spicy orange and a little licorice and cinnamon. Don't like it well enough to keep it though...

  11. In the vial, and when I first applied this, I could hardly smell anything. As someone who was very much looking forward to this one, that was disappointing. As it dries though, it becomes more and more noticeable. Very pretty, very feminine, a beautiful floral. Close to the skin, definitely one you'd wear when you want to be subtle and sexy at the same time. (I totally agree with kiki)

  12. This was pure love when I first put it on... the pineapple was so yummy, along with the passion fruit and papaya. THose faded away fairly quickly though, and I'm left with a soft dusty floral that I'm not really sure that I like. I will re-test it again in a week or so...

  13. Hmmm, I have a question... we're headed to SoCal this weekend for a car show, and I was hoping to swing by either (or both) Dark Delicacies & Le Pink. On the Lab website, I clicked on a link on the Retail section, and it lists some scents - but in the reviews on the forum, some of these are LEs... are they no longer available at Dark Delicacies?

And are the ones listed for Le Pink correct?

    I'm really confused
