  1. Ever since I started buying BPAL, I've been on the lookout for that 'perfect' rose scent. Something sweet, nothing dark or too green. I've tried Maiden, Persephone and Kurukulla, and they all end up morphing into the same weird fruity-rose scent. Bleh. Then I tried Pink Snowballs, and it was PERFECT. For for like 30 seconds, until it turned to play-doh. Stupid skin chemistry.

I'm thinking of hunting down a decant of Hope and Victoria, but if anyone has any suggestions of a scent ... that would be great. Thanks! :wub2:

I "hope" you can find some Hope to try  it's wonderful, a sugary-sweet rose. Katrina Van Tassel is similar, if you can find any of it, it was a Halloweenie from 2008.

  2. I've been pondering this question as well, and I'm leaning towards Osun, Yemaya, Obatala or Olokun. I have an imp of Osun at home, I will try it again. I really like Yemaya, the goddess, so I would like to have the scent, even though I'm not sure I'm a melon girl, and the reviews often mention fading fast. I like coconut, so Obatala might work for me. Olokun sounds good, I haven't had an aquatic scent for a while - might be a nice one to get and save for spring/summer...

  3. Is there any red rose scents that I could find in the general catalog ? Becuse I want it to be my signature perfume, so I can purchase frequently :yum:

I'd recommend trying The Rose from the Marchen category if you want a fresh, red rose smell. London is also good (from the Wanderlust category), but strikes me as more of a dry red rose.

How could I forget The Rose?? yes, definitely second that suggestion... :D

  4. Check out this thread - but short answer, I do this:

hold the imp upright, wiggle-wiggle-wiggle the cap until it comes out, then raise the stopper and hold the wand part against the side of the imp so the oil drains down from the top of the cap. Then you can apply or sniff without too much trouble. Don't snap the cap when opening the imp or you'll end up with oil all over! My friend does that everytime, lol

  5. To my untrained nose, this smells like O and the spicy floral note in Chrysanthemum Moon. Which I assume is chrysanthemum, lol. The overwhelming consensus here says that the note in Hod is carnation though, so I will just say that I like them both ;)

Thankfully, I get no almond. Just lovely amber, honey and this yummy spicy flower - mucho :wub2:

  6. well, I bought a bottle of this right off the bat, because I just KNEW it was going to be awesome. I love rose! I love snow! I have an iffy relationship with vanilla, but was willing to take the chance.

    *sigh*

This smells exactly like Snow White to me. I did not like Snow White. Sure, there's a teensy bit of rose trying to peek out, but it wasn't enough to make much of a difference.

  7. I have a new frimp of this, and to my surprise, I really like it. It's a light, airy kind of lavender. Just a bit of amber and tonka. I hardly get any patchouli, except in the late drydown. It's quite masculine, so maybe I won't wear it. Maybe put a sachet in my b/f's drawer to scent his clothes?

  8. Why is it the bottles I order unsniffed never quite work out? From the description, I thought this was going to be the HG of scents for me. Seven honeys? Cardamom? Wasn't sure about the cubeb, but willing to take a chance. But the "fiery-tart"-ness of what I'm guessing is the cubeb is the only thing I'm smelling. This is very lemony. Venneh's Froot Loop comparison is right on, that's what I'm getting as well. I'm going to set this aside to age a bit, because I did have such high hopes for it. Maybe by Spring, it will have mellowed a bit. If not, it's off to swaps...

  9. I am in love with this scent... this is everything I wanted the other scents to be. This will be my go-to scent. It's similar to Glowing Vulva on me, and while many compare this to Antique Lace, AL was not wearable to me, it turned to plasticky vanilla. This... this is amazing. A lovely soft, woody vanilla - not much floral for me, or fruit from the apricot. Just the oak, vanilla and sandalwood. Maybe a little tonka.

    Pure :wub2:

  10. I am not a big patchouli fan, but I've found I can wear it in some blends. I thought this might be one of them because when I first tried it, it was mostly yummy cinnamon-incense. I think that I just didn't wear it long enough that day, because I have Sin on today and for the first hour it was lovely. After that, I started smelling like I didn't bathe. For a couple of days.

  11. When I first put Liz on, I get a lot of leather. Not a strong, masculine leather, but still leather. When the vanilla starts to come forward, there's a moment or two where it teeters on plasticky - but thank goodness, it eventually morphs into a beautiful, wearable lovely scent for me. Not many of BPALs vanillas work on me, but I'm so glad this one does! I think the florals and the smoke and leather balance it out for me.

AND - as my b/f and I were going up some stairs yesterday, he sniffed and sniffed, and finally said "Hey, that's you I'm smelling". This is the 2nd BPAL scent that he's told me I should get a bottle of!! :joy:

  12. Pumpkin, chocolate, coffee bean, vanilla bean, and hazelnut

I wore this yesterday, it was yummy. The pumpkin and hazelnut were prominent at first, then it dried down to a very spicey, cinnamony/clove smell...

  13. Hmm... I don't know if I'm smelling the incense, or the pink musk... or something else. But on me, this smells like (forgive me) walking into the dollar store. Going down the candle/incense/potpourri aisle. It's a very sharp, fruity smell, and I'm afraid I just can't wear it. Glad it's working for other people though!

  14. This one reminds me a little of something... Horreur Sympathique? A very sweet wine scent... it does seem to be a bit grape-y, but it's drying down to be a wearable-enough perfume. Not sure if it would be a bottle purchase for me, but I like it enough to keep the decant ;)

  15. Mmmm... definitely smell the apple, a little bit of the milk and ale - but what really sticks around for me are the spices... I like it, although my daughter said I smell like a candle. Not sure if I want a bottle, but I'll definitely keep and use my decant ;)
