  1. I had a decant of Mme Moriarty long ago, and I swapped it away. Recently I joined a decant circle on LJ and ordered another. It may be because this is fresh, but on my skin, it's doing the same thing that Arcana's layering note of Nepalese Amber did - it smells like paper. I'm going to try to keep this decant around and see if it gets better as it ages, but I'm kind of disappointed...

  2. The notes in this one really sounded good - I was hoping for lots of plum, amber, musk, and sweet incense. Unfortunately it's a dusty, dry incense, and I'm not really a fan of dusty scents.

ETA: the drydown is very nice though, definitely a keeper!

  3. Keeping in mind that I am mid-migraine: This is a nice, wearable leather scent for me. At first, it was a very sharp leather and I really thought it was going to have to go. But it's dried down to a nice, almost comforting (if I didn't have a headache) scent. I don't really get the "oil" but maybe that was what was contributing to the sharpness during the wet stage... Anyway, I do like this and will definitely be keeping my decant :)

ETA: after a couple of hours, it's more of just a clean leather scent. Nice but not as yummy as before.

  4. Mugwort, for psychic sensitivity... Calea Zacatechichi, for divination through dreams... Orchid and frankincense, for complexity, wisdom and noscere... with a potent lunar-charged, oneirongenic blend of blue musk, exquisite woods, moonflower, Madagascan ylang ylang, Florentine iris, Greek cypress, green tea absolute, palmarosa, cucumber, Clary sage, lavender, lemon balm, and passion fruit.

My experience with this perfume is very similar to fairnymph's... sharp florals at first, then it turned soapy. Now it's kind of powdery. Not quite what I was hoping for.

  5. I have a decant of this that a sweet friend gave to me. On first application, it's mostly gardenia. Very pretty. Then for awhile, it's all honeycomb, which is my favorite part. This lasts for about 30 mins or so. After that, it's a light, powdery vanilla. Very nice, but I wish it stayed more of a sweet floral than the vanilla.

  6. I'm trying to decide between getting Spellbound or Black Rose. The descriptions for both list the same components: rose, amber, and musk. Anyone who's tried both, what exactly is the difference between these two?? Thanks!

I've tried them both, and Spellbound is my #1 BPAL of all time. It is drop dead sexy red-musky rose. I tried Black Rose when I first got into BPAL, and I didn't keep the imp, but I remember it was pretty, just not as deep and sensuous as Spellbound. I try to be a minimalist in my BPAL hobby, so off it went.

  7. My experience with this ends up very similar to Imbrium's - warm, spicy, musky... it did morph quite a bit, before getting there. There was a very soapy stage that I started to think "uh-oh" but thankfully it didn't last. I am in love with this scent!! (wish I had gotten a 2nd bottle though!)

  8. Those personalized M&Ms are $$$!! I looked into those for my daughter's Sweet 16.

I'm not sure if my b/f and I are headed towards marriage or not... but if the day ever comes where I take that plunge (again) I think I'd wear either Spellbound or Hope. Spellbound because it's my #1... but I like the idea of wearing Hope. And it smells so yummy.

I'd love to get married on a beach somewhere, so maybe I would choose something that kind of went along with that theme. Hmm...

  9. I think the post office is more careful with parcels than the aircraft people are with baggage. I would mail them. And maybe in addition to all the bubble wrap, put them inside a plastic storage container, and then inside a box? That way there's a bit of extra protection against squishing...

  10. I love anise, and thought that in this blend, with the light florals, it would be so pretty, and wonderful for spring/summer. But something in this blend made me very itchy when I applied it - and I've never had that reaction to a BPAL oil before... so I'm afraid I wasn't able to test this one very long.

  11. I tried a previous version of this at a Meet-n-Sniff once, and really liked the drydown, so I ordered a decant this year. I swiped a bit on my arm, and forgot about it, while trying other ones with a friend. Later, I kept getting a whiff of a yummy masculine-type smell. Finally I zeroed in on the spot where Luperci was, and it smelled awesome, like a sexy man-cologne. Unfortunately, the patchouli later turned on me, making me smell like I hadn't bathed. :(

  12. from sniffing the decant, I did not want to put this on. I love spicy scents, but whoa... the cardamom was SO strong. I was brave though, and tried it. It didn't get any better. I waited for over an hour, and it was still too much. I tried to scrub it off, with 3 different soaps. It was still there. So it has good lasting power, lol... I never got to smell the coconut or the rum, but the chocolate and ginger were in there, hiding behind the cardamom.

  13. I love citrus scents, but they seem to disappear on me. This is a lovely musky tangerine scent, I hardly get any cypress (good, because that was the note I was worried about). Not a lot of throw, but I'm about 3 hours in, and I can still smell it at my wrist. Probably won't get a bottle, but I'll keep my decant!

  14. Wet, it was a very creamy lilac, with the ho wood right behind it. Now that it's dried down some, it's more powdery, and the lilac has all but disappeared. I liked the wet lilac-y stage... not sure if I'll keep it if it stays powdery.

  15. I ordered a decant of this off the forum, because I forgot I ordered one from the decant circle I joined. I'm so glad I did, because I can never have too much of this! I put it on, just to test, and this was the first scent where I literally could not tear my nose away from my arm! It is amazing!

Something in it - the amber or the honey, or the musk reminds me of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique. I rarely buy back-ups, but I know I'll buy at least a couple bottles of this!

  16. Smellwise, so far, I can BARELY smell this.

I agree with Cauda - in the imp, it's almost like it's empty - no smell whatsoever.

On, it does smell like soap. Unscented soap. I'm not getting any of the florals that have been mentioned.

As far as the "Come to Me" effect... we shall see. If I have any results, I will update later ;)

  17. Twin to Deimos and child of War, Phobos is the embodiment of terror and mortal fear. Chilling white musk, lemon verbena, white grapefruit and lemongrass.

This is a very sweet lemon, although the white musk and grapefruit keep it fresh. I like it, and will add it to my slowly growing collection of lemony scents...

  18. To me, as soon as I opened the vial, it smelled like an awesome little new age-ish shop we used to have here in town. A mixture of incense, amber and dried flowers... I put the oil on, and it stayed pretty true to that. When my BFF stopped by later, I had her sniff my arm, and that's exactly what she said - "it smells like Nature's Gifts!" I thought it had faded a bit by then, but maybe my nose was just used to it because she said the throw was still good :)

I had to hunt down a bottle!
