  1. At least now I know what didn't work in Blood Kiss... it wasn't the blood component but rather the honey-cherry!

Needless to say, this will probably end up in a swap/sale. How sad. :P But at least now I know what's doing weird things on my skin...

  2. oooooooh I really love this. Orange and grapefruit seem to last a little longer than lemon on my skin (though not as long as cinnamon and strong spices), and this one just goes on beautifully. This is definitely on my top 10 list if not my top 5! It replaces Bayou, Shanghai, and Embalming Fluid as my summer church scent. :P Well, I might still use Embalming Fluid, but I really, really, REALLY love this.

  3. musty and herby... it really reminded me of ramen noodle spices. lol!

Again, maybe I just need to try these scents on when it's not that-time-of-the-month... sigh. Yes, I know, I am imp-atient. :P

  4. My first impression was definitely the orange, and perhaps some mango.... juicy but kind of subdued, masked maybe? I can also smell something sort of leveling out the fruit. Nice smell... maybe not for me, but definitely a potential room scenter!

  5. oooh. It smells smoky and floral at the same time... it makes me think of someone burning a rose-scented candle. absolutely delicious! I hope it smells just as good when it's not shark week. This makes me think of a wet autumn evening, maybe around dusk, with some sort of outdoor fire. Like stepping on wet brown and yellow and red leaves, I think.

  6. I don't smell any lemon... it's definitely a vanilla tea sort of thing. I don't smell much else, but it's still a nice enough scent. Somewhat creamy, and it fades extremely fast to a point then just sort of stays mellow for a while.

  7. Not at all sure I like this; it smells like bleach and vegetables on me. *gags*

I'll give it another try when I'm not on my period, hehe. Or just slather some on my dear friend, since she was the one who wanted to try a rain scent.

  8. it smells more buttery than sweet. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it might be worth nebulizing a little in the fall. Not a pumpkin pie type scent... this is a salty pumpkin scent in my book.

  9. good ideas. I don't have a mint case but I put them in the plastic bag inside my other plastic bag... if anyone asks I'll just tell them honestly that it's perfume and maybe make a few converts. :D

Sadly, I realized just now that as a white, wheelchair using female with a good smile I shouldn't have any problems. Yay for society judging people by how they look...

I wouldn't count on that.. I am too, and travel a fair bit.

Well, yet another flight experience to confirm my theory... lol. No one even asked, but I just smiled a lot and warned them ahead of time that I had perfume samples in my liquids bag as I went through. It was about 6 AM and I was the only one in line at the time. :P They didn't even blink at my liquids... they were more concerned over the cell phone I forgot to take out of my pocket, oops.

  11. would you, my dearest BPAL family, advise against carrying my huge collection of 50 or so imps with me? O_o I'll leave the floral ones that I got for a girlfriend's birthday coming up, and I MUST take at least the imps meant for my guy's birthday (about 6), but aside from that... should I only take a small handful of favorites? Will I be okay to take the majority of them?

if it matters I'm flying ATL to YYZ (toronto). I'd prefer to carry only one thing on with me and check the other since my wheelchair makes traveling a pain! Not as bad as traveling with crutches, though. Thanks a bunch! :P

ETA: Okay, I think I've narrowed it down to 15-20.... ahh! Should I be alright?

  12. I read him the replies to this and he laughed sheepishly and admitted that he only had a "slight sip of it, just enough to taste it." and wanted to know if there had indeed been any cases of small children drinking it. >_< Boys. The suggestion of getting some caramels is a good one; I think I'll pick up some snickers next time I'm at the store, lol.

  13. I know all oils have the disclaimer not to eat them, but yeah... my little brother keeps licking the tester stick and his arms whenever I let him put gluttony on himself, and while I watch him to make sure he doesn't drink the imp, he's conspiring to buy a 5mL! Apparently it tastes as good as it smells?

So I was just wanting to make sure that if he licks a lot of it off he'll be okay... >_< Does anyone know if it's made with mostly foodish things or if there's something really not-good-to-ingest in it?

The sad part is he's 16 and should know better. :P And I searched but couldn't find anything for the topic, but the search engine here is really confusing to me.

    Thanks!

  14. argh, I do seem to search for totally the wrong things in my thread titles, don't I?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sacred Whore of Babylon is out, but I haven't tried any of the others... I'll look into samples and sniffies though! :P At this point I think I'm leaning towards Silk Road and maybe some Cathedral or Midnight Mass layered in for the cloak... I forgot to mention that she was married to a wealthy British scholar before her death, so the tea scent really fits (and she does prefer a cup of tea over blood just before bed! :D). I might also look into London, Famine, 13 June 2008 (if I can find it!)... but Silk Road will work for now, I hope.

I should probably mention I'm allergic to lavender and need to avoid hyssop, sage, and rosemary for seizure reasons. :D

  15. in our RP, I play (among others) a Catholic vampire. Because she was devoutly Catholic before she "died" she's now one of very few vampires that can touch/wear religious icons. Her defense is really high, especially against other vampires, because she wears a rosary for protection, but her offensive powers (at least the more magic ones) such as summoning familiars, absorbing souls, etc. are nonexistent. She can transform into a house cat and a bat.

So what BPAL should her and her cloak smell like? I'm inclined to think Cathedral or something similarly incensey, but would something blood related be better? I know the High Priest Not to Be Named has both incense and blood in it, but I'm not sure that's really the scent I'm looking for. Something feminine but not in a floral, traditional way... maybe Bloodlust or a Dragon scent mixed with Cathedral mixed with something else? I really don't know. :P Maybe Valentine of Rome? Lust with something?

I half think I'd like her cloak to smell more woody and incensey (silk road or similar?) and her to smell more like blood and spice... or something... I'm really dense on what this character should smell like for some reason.

  16. update. I tried Twilight today and put it to the Stray Child (a .hack song) test. Results? sniffing my fingers (covered in the stuff) definitely stopped several seizures and in the middle of a long one I couldn't "recover" from, my hand jerked up near my nose and as soon as I smelled the scent the spaz stopped. The only thing is that it doesn't work if my nose gets used to the smell, so I can't just LEAVE the jasmine there full time. Whatever I do I'll have to stop and start the smell as needed.

However, one of the ingredients (I'm inclined to think Lavender, since it always give me a horrible headache and I avoid it like the plague) made me have a terrible headache and some chest pain and trouble breathing. Hm. I bought a nebulizer and mask off of ebay and will hopefully give this a try when it gets here if I can find some pure jasmine. I think I'll try using very diluted jasmine and see what works better: leaving the mask on and turning the button on/off as auras hit/spasms fade or leaving it on and running all the time (that the noise is present) and holding the mask to my face/removing it as necessary. The second is probably better for me (though worse for the planet), and I'll probably cover my arms with a very not-floral scent that I like. I'm thinking Bengal, Gluttony, or Eden-- in that order, since that's the order in which they fade. :P

If this works, maybe I'll be able to go to at least SOME concerts and church services. Other people might be able to get away with a scent locket or a doused handkerchief, but I found the jasmine faded much too quickly on me and objects to be effective. I need a fresh, constant, personal stream of it. I'll probably update this thread when I've tried it out more scientifically.

Sorry if that's tl;dr, but I thought it might help someone looking for answers in the future.

  17. super floral! Something my stepmom might like... but if it will stop me seizures I'll have to get a huge bottle. I detect a sharp note of some sort... It's an interesting smell, like being in a flower shop.

  18. unfortunately on me this smells exactly like a cross between BBW cucumber melon shampoo and house paint. rawr. I can tell that it SHOULD smell nice on me but it doesn't. Thankfully I bought it for a friend to try, so I'm not too brokenhearted. :P

  19. Yum! Kind of a sweet, woody smell, but almost foodish. Like the white chocolate raspberry white mousse body stuff, if you've ever seen that... Like a body wash designed to smell like food. Sweet smelling, like dessert, but also a scent that lets you know it's not for eating.
