    Eternal

In the bottle: Gardenia, rose & lily? Is there lily in this? I don't have the description in front of me. First on: Very heavy on the gardenia, and from there it's just a big mess of floral. It smells like when you walk in an expensive florist and are just browsing before going up to the counter. It reminds me of a shop like that when I was a kid, they had 2 doves in a cage and it was run by a girl I knew's parents. Ah, memories. Drydown: The gardenia calmed down a lot to where this is such a perfect blend of oils I just smell flowers in general. Not as strong as the initial floral shop, and still a bit heavy on the rose. Overall: This is nice, but not the right floral for me.

    La Petite Mort

In the bottle: A little sweet, I can definitely pick up the myrrh, and just very clean. First on: Powder! There's a lot of myrrh, and probably some amber that's producing the powdery scent. Is that honey? It smells like a baby powder with a small hint of honey added in. Drydown: It's all baby powder on me now, I can't even discern the resins. An incredibly strong baby powder. Overall: Um, no. Call me crazy, I don't want to smell like baby.

    Hemlock

In the bottle: Dirty sweat and pine. It's like Avowash but mintier! There's a sweetness to it that almost triggers my gag reflex. First on: Almost the same, maybe a bit heavier on the pine. This would be great over the Avowash if you like that scent. I personally can't stand it and hope that sweetness mellows out. Drydown: The sweetness has separated so it's not gag inducing, but it's definitely still the main point on this one. What smells like a mix of cedar & fir is going on in the back, to make an odd candy woods scent. Overall: Just not for me. I can imagine it being heavenly on the right person.

    Yew-Trees

In the bottle: Pine & berries. It smells like those pinecones you throw in the fireplace at xmas. First on: There's the wood scent again, lemon, berry, and a twinge of soapiness. It's like a lemonade in the woods. Drydown: This reminds me of lemondrop hard candy my mom used to eat. It's a sweet citrus with the woodsy note in the back, very light & fresh. Overall: Me likey.

    The Dodo

Red musk, lemon peel, sugar cane, cassia, white sandalwood, mango, and agarwood. In the bottle: Sweet & spicy, with a hint of floral. Almost medicinal. First on: Now it's all sugar & spice. It does remind me of something from LUSH, but not Spank me with Saplings. It's a light potpourri, or something sweet, like Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns ice cream. Drydown: I can barely smell it on my skin, about an hour & a half later. What I do smell is the same as before, just incredibly diluted. Shame, it's so lovely. Overall: I'll definitely use the imp, but it doesn't last long enough to warrant the whole bottle.

    Leo 2007

In the bottle: Fruity, resiny, and delicious. I'm so glad I got 2 bottles of this. First on: Yay amber! Yay saffron! This smells very similar to the blend I made way back at Beth's aphrodesiac class (only mine also was about 75% cinnamon. Heh.), and she gave me some Egyptian amber to make it the perfect Leo blend. It's sexy but not too strong, playful but regal, and not a scent to be taken lightly. It's perfect!!! Drydown: I never want to stop sniffing my arm. The only thing that could make this any better (for me personally) would be cinnamon. The scent hasn't morphed on me at all, it's still a lightly floral/citrusy (heliotrope perhaps?) with the amber and saffron. Overall: Sunny, happy, proud & regal, while being completely sexy. How could a Leo not love this scent?

    Cancer 2007

In the bottle: Lightly floral, lightly fruity First on: It's an aquatic fruit salad. Light & fresh, I can pick up the pear, but that's it. Drydown: I think that's the lettuce that's the aquatic slightly bitter note, which is starting to take over. Everything else is underneath it, and I love it. It's a great summer scent. Overall: A sweet and slightly bitter water scent? Sounds perfect for Cancer to me.

    Gemini 2007

In the bottle: Hello lavender, how's it going? First on: I can't smell anything. A hint of lavender, a hint of orchid, but it's really hard to pick up anything at all. Drydown: I can tell there's some sort of oil on my wrist, but I can't smell what it is at all. It's a very weird feeling. Overall: Gemini completely disappeared on me when it overwhelmed me in the bottle. Typical Gemini, 2 different extremes.

Satan And Death With Sin Intervening

In the bottle: Wow that's a strong orange rind. It's almost alcohol smelling it's so strong. First on: The alcohol is still there, but the orange is sweet and the vetiver calms it down. It has the resin-y scent over all of it, which is really nice. Drydown: It is an orange tea! Spicy resinous orange with tea over all of it. Overall: I love it! I generally hate orange anything, but this is really nice. Definitely keeping the imp, but probably not a bottle.

    Wanda

In the bottle: Sweet wine & florals, it smells like a blackberry port. First on: Is that chocolate? It smells like a candle. I can easily pick up the violets, other than that I can't tell, but it has a buttery chocolate scent to it. Drydown: Definitely smells like a candle. That buttery scent has only increased, it reminds me of Gluttony. Overall: Not bad, I kind of like it, but not enough to keep.

    Black Annis

In the bottle: Sort of an earthy root like scent. I can't really distinguish any particular notes. First on: OK, right now this is gorgeous, but I can smell the civet in the back and I know it'll go sour milk on me like always. I still can't distinguish the notes, but it's heady and dark with a sweet note in the background. Drydown: This is officially the only civet that has ever touched my skin that isn't gross in minutes. I can pick civet out in oils that have no mention of it in any review, but I wouldn't have guessed it in this had it not been listed in the ingredients. I would have guessed a powerful musk, because it's toying with the idea of going sour, but it's not quite there. It's dark and sexy and brooding. I like. Overall: Who'd a thunk I could ever wear this when I hate anise and I hate civet. I'm keeping the imp and I'll love it, but it won't be a bottle of anything with civet for me ever, since different batches can smell different.

    Taurus 2007

In the bottle: Fruit cup! First on: It still has a fruit cup scent at first, but the after scent is floral, but very heady. I like it so far, but I do hope the floral calms down a bit. Drydown: The heady part has gone, leaving the floral fruit cup. Is this a jello flavor? Overall: I like it, but not at all what I was expecting for stubborn Taurus.

    Dragon's Claw

In the bottle: mmm... sandalwood.... First on: This reminds me of one of those Oriental sandalwood fans. I can barely smell the dragon's blood, but it's lovely. Drydown: All sandalwood, no dragon's blood. I love the sandalwood scent and will have to show it to a friend who is obsessed with it. Overall: This is awesome. I wonder how it would be over Dragon's Reverie?

    Dragon's Reverie

In the bottle: Dragon's blood & poppy! Yay! First on: Very floral. Damn you ylang ylang. The poppy is still there and the amber is showing a little, so it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Drydown: Interesting. It's still a bit floral, but it's also smoky and sweet. It's very seductive. Overall: Like!!

    Ladon

In the bottle: Dragon's blood & hyacinth. First on: A gorgeous mix of the florals, apple, and dragon's blood. It all blends so nicely, but I am a bit worried about a soapy scent that seems to be hiding. Drydown: It hasn't changed at all. That soapy part is still there a bit, but the rest of it is gorgeous! Overall: I'll use the imp and see if the soapy part goes away on me.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the bottle: A large mesh of fruit & plant, but I can pick out the pear and the fir. First on: All pear with a blend of undiscernable notes in the background. It's very light & happy. Drydown: Can't smell much of anything as it's faded, but what I do get is a light fruity blend. Overall: Will use the imp, but it's not a bottle scent for me.

    Opium Poppy

In the bottle: A lighter, slightly less acrid version of Darkness First on: Light smoky floral version of Darkness. I think I prefer this to it so far. Drydown: The floral is definitely stronger than the smoke now, but it's a light hazy floral. Overall: I like it, but will probably stick to layering my Darkness with Inferno for my opium fix.

    Tanin'iver

In the bottle: Dragon's blood with a smoky sexy power to it. I wasn't expecting that from the ingredients, but I lurve it! First on: This reminds me of the Tea Tree tooth sticks from Whole Foods. I have no idea why it smells like that. It's a bit smoky still as well. Drydown: Stayed the same. It has a bit of cinnamon to it as well, but I still smell the Tea Tree. It's not bad at all, and I'll use the imp but won't get a bottle. Overall: Odd. When BPAL was still at Black Broom I was continuously bugging Brian to do a smoky dragon's blood blend. Not sure if this was what I was expecting, but it's not horrible on me.

    Blood Countess

In the bottle: Oh yum. Wine, berries, light floral & opium. I wine & opium. First on: Spicy opium with a hint of wine. I can pick out the gardenia and I hope it doesn't come out more because this is the perfect blend on me. Ever. Drydown: OMG it stayed the same!! Granted it's only been about 45 minutes, but usually by then it's changed. This is one of my new all time favorite scents! I wanted it for over 2 years, but no one ever had an imp to spare, and now I know why.

    Marquise de Merteuil

In the bottle: A not-so-sweet version of Tamora. Very peach with a hint of something darker over florals. First on: It's very faint, but the peach and vetiver mesh well, which I wasn't expecting. I think I smell lilac? Drydown: Hasn't changed much, although I'm getting a slight vanilla scent. It's mostly the peach, vetiver and what I think is lilac. Overall: I'll definitely use the imp, but probably won't get a bottle. It is definitely a good representation of the Marquise, someone who looks very lady like on the outside but has a cruel heart.

    The Agony of Heartache

I got this as a sniffie, so there's not much to try, but I'm attempting anyway. In the bottle: blackberry & sage. A bit medicinal, but I sort of like it. First on: Cat pee. Very faint cat pee. My cat just peed on my blanket today and this is what my bathroom smells like after using Nature's Miracle on it. Drydown: Cat pee with sage. I need to wash this off. Overall: Um...no.

    Tushnamatay

In the bottle: Sandalwood & something else I can't place. First on: Sandalwood & vanilla! Dear lord the boy would love this. Drydown: The vanilla is a bit stronger, but it hasn't changed much at all Overall: Not quite for me, but I'll give it to the boy and see if it has enough sandalwood in it for his taste.

    Somnus

In the bottle: It smells like Sleepy Head massage bar! Lavender & chamomile, maybe some neroli? First on: Yup. Same scent almost. It's much stronger than I thought it would be though. Drydown: Ok, now it's calmed down a bit. The scent hasn't changed much except the lavender isn't as strong. Overall: I can see how this would help you sleep. Don't know if I'll use it, but I'll keep it around for now.

    Dr. John Seward

In the bottle: Ginger, opium, and a bit of tonka. I am in love. First on: The tonka is the most potent on me (I assume that's what it is, a light floral vanilla sort of scent) but I can smell the smokiness underneath. If the opium smoke comes out more I will need 5 bottles of this. Drydown: Ok, the smokiness is much more potent. I want to swoon when I smell myself I love it sooo much! Overall: YES PLEASE!

    French Love

Scent review only In the bottle: Definitely the dragon's blood, but there's something almost perfume-y to it. First on: Floral baby powder. I think it's gardenia, maybe amber too? Amber ges powdery on me if it's mixed with heavy florals. The db is just sitting there waiting for it's turn (I hope). Drydown: Baby powder soap. Hint of gardenia. Overall: Not my taste.
