    Les Bijoux

It reminds me of incredibly expensive, perfumy perfume, and tickles my nose. Then it goes soapy (the blossom), then a hint of apple?, then soft and sweet but indistinct. I may try it again when I'm not sick at all, since I wish I had the reaction many others had, I was hoping to love this!

    Ladon

When wet, this is dragon's blood, but softened. Still, it's dragon's blood, and it doesn't generally work on me. But the thought of apple really tempted me, and I kept it on. And the DB does go away after about 15 minutes, and what is left is, unbelievably, a golden delicious apple. And I'd forgotten it was a golden apple in the note list. I sniffed my wrist, thought "golden delicious, how incredible". It's a true scent, not overly sweet. Very nice, with a little extra brightness from the musk. The apple stage is wonderful, the dragon's blood is not (for me).

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

I'm in the distinct minority here, but Mme. Moriarty just isn't quite the thing for me. Most strong on me are the patchouli, musk and plum, and it all combines in a very sultry, smoky way. It is a thick scent, soft, incensy, muted and yet with a distinctly bitter bite on my skin from the patchouli, that I just can't get over. For me it is not like Snake Oil at all, more akin to Snake Charmer, because of the plum note. Not a keeper, but I'm sure it will find a happy home!

    The Pool of Tears

I am trying to find an oceany scent that isn't too ozoney, or too masculine, and hope this might be it. On, I get a slightly sharp salty aquatic that reminds me of ocean spray. I don't get any noticeable flowers, and it is a touch perfumy, but not in a nose-itching way. I would consider it a unisex scent. I like it as it is, since the sharpness softens somewhat, and it becomes a little sweet, but what I am really hoping for is that when I try it with my tuberose oil, that it will smell like Hawaii!

I love carnation, tea and occassionally rose, so had hopes that this would work for me. On me it is a very sharp, citrus tea scent, with the barest barest hint of rose, and none of carnation. It reminds me of Kumiho, actually. I was hoping the carnation and rose would be more prominent, with the tea as a base. I may try this once more, just to be sure, but at the moment, I'm thinking swap pile.

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

lovely, soft powdery vanilla. Akin to Antique Lace, but doesn't go plasticky and horrid on me as AL does. This stays nice and true, and lasts for hours. Plus it has some good wafting power.

    Drink Me

In the imp, very sweet, buttery, yummy. On, not so much. This rapidly morphed to a dark, fruity blend with something very bitter (and possibly burnt) underlying it.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

This is wonderful! It is just a little teeny bit cologny at the beginning, more because the citrus starts out strong, but this fades very quickly. It settles into a vanilla base (more the essence than the scent of vanilla, it is far more subtle than "smells like vanilla") with tea, hints of citrus and a something soft and indistinct, which I think is the fougere. It lasts a long time (still caught whiffs 8 hours later), and is lovely. I get no mint, no hint of evil jasmine, no soap, not antiseptic or bitter. It is soft, sweet, with a hint of vanilla and tea. It is definitly different than Dorian for me; it seems more related to HGM with the softly citrus quality that one also has. I know a lot of people consider this one masculine, but I have to say it doesn't wear that way at all on me, and I'm glad for it!

    Cockaigne

Intensly sweet in the imp. On, it remains really sweet-like honey and cake, with a hint of cinnamon. It becomes snickerdoodles, then after 45 minutes, becomes sweet rum raisins. Over hours, the rum raisin develops a sour note. This is not for me.

    Port Royal

Very strong, spiced wood. Treasure chests indeed! I don't get any sea air, and it really doesn't remind me of Jolly Roger, but I can see a likeness to Anne Bonny, which I prefer. This has the same richness and spiciness, but is more woody, and has a bigger "bite" to it's spice. I think this is a more masculine blend, with excellent throw and staying power, and while it is nice, is not something I'll keep.

    The Organ Grinder (2006)

This morphs a wee bit on me. It starts out sweet almond milk, with a hint of pine and smoke in the background. It changes to soap, then settles into a soft, smoky scent, balanced between the pine and the almond. It is really nice, it lasts forever, but I have discovered that either the smoke or the pine note makes me a little ill, even if the scent is nice. Same thing happened with Perversion. This one is off to swaps.

    Harvest Moon 2006

I got this recently in a swap, and thought I would love it, based on reviews. I've been looking for a great apple scent, and this sounded like it. But for me, it isn't. I do get the barest hint of apple initially, but it is under perhaps the pomegranate? What I think I detect is chrysanthemum, pomegranate, hints of apple, and lots of spice. I know it isn't listed, but there it is, blooming on my skin. Smells like clove and cinnamon, neither distinct. I also thought there might be a musk in here, but again, not listed, so perhaps it's my imagination. Anyway, I believe the chrysanthemum is what is giving the scent the perfumy quality. After 15 minutes, this scent becomes a strong, spicy, perfumy scent. In fact, it reminds me of a christmas candle. I left it on, hoping it would change, but it doesn't. I'm sad to be swapping this, and will hope for my perfect apple scent to show up for Halloween.

    Bat-Woman

I like this one a lot! It is a light, transparent floral but not sharp, and has a beautiful sweetness to it that isn't heavy, perfumy or overpowering. The florals blend so smoothly I don't really distinguish them, and the airy note gives it "clearness" if that makes sense. It does to me...it isn't a sharp ozone at all, it's a whisper of dew, I guess. Anyway, like I said, I like this a lot, it is beautiful, and possibly a bottle.

Satan And Death With Sin Intervening

Opoponax, benzoin, orange blossom, mahogany, karakarounde, white tea and vetiver. This started out a bright tea scent, with hints of orange blossom (not powdery or soapy at all), and over a period of 45 minutes, became a warm, dry, resinous blend. It lasted a few hours. I love the tea note, and the dry resins are nice too. I was expecting it to sceam MAN at me, but it didn't, though I do think a man would smell good in this.

And There Was A Great Cry In Egypt

This is a very nice scent, and lasts for hours. I get honey, combined with assorted resins (amber, myrrh for sure). It is warm, sweeter at the beginning with the strong honey that softens to a lingering sweetness underlying the resin. I don't get any red musk at all, and I don't get much cardamon either. This is the kind of scent that I end up sniffing my wrist over and over, because I like it, but I don't know if I love it, but I keep sniffing my wrist! That should probably tell me something. I will say that it gets a little sharper the longer it wears, but I am mean several hours in, at this point. And I could still smell this one, oh, 8 hours after application, maybe more. I know I was stunned at how long it lasted.

    Lucretia

I've tried this twice, and the first time it was a beautiful powdery, soft, musky violet, and it surprised me because I really liked it, when I don't tend to like violets. It was gorgeous! The second time I tried it, it was a little sharper, and the softly sweet powderyness was missing. The violets were there, but so was something deeper, maybe a wood? Perfumy. I'm going to try it a 3rd time, and hope to get the first result, and not the second. The first might make this a bottle, the second guarantees a swapped imp.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

Second review for CCVII (207): Got this in a CT swap. In the bottle it smells like rasberries, but on, it immediately becomes peach-and that's about it, that I can tell. It stays a lovely, sweet peach with a little throw, and after several hours, the peach is still present, but there is a slight creamy/powdery softness to it. It is very pretty. In fact, I used to have a peach perfume that smelled very similar to this. Previously reviewed by Arylkin.

    Sundew

Don't you hate it when you write a review and the computer eats it??? Anyway, to paraphrase, in the beginning is honey, carnation and aquatics. I love the aquatic mixed with the carnation-it's beautiful and unusual. It sweetens, thanks to tea (I think), and then the water fades and the egyptian musk replaces it. This is not my favorite musk (in fact I usually can't stand it) but I like it here a lot. The scent becomes a blend of musk and carnation, and is gorgeous. Bottle contender for sure.

    Rome

Wet, it's juniper and cypress, and it's lovely. I immediately went to put some on my husband. He did, and right away (didn't even look at the notes, and he is terrible with notes anyway, so this was amazing) said, "it smells like roses". And sure enough, on him right away it did. On me, it took about 3 minutes. But it ends up as roses, a very nice rose, I have to add. But not a keeper.

    Utrennyaya

Ummm. Smelled wonderful in the imp-like crystal made into scent. Stays lovely, light, bright, sweet and clear for about 5 minutes, then becomes perfumy, I can smell the violets but they are overshadowed by a distinctly bitter scent, no clue what it is. I do not like this after all, and will be passing on my imp.

    Hungry Ghost Moon 2006

In the bottle: very light, difficult for me to get anything specific When on, initially it is a strong citrus-fruit (think Fruity Stripes lime gum), very bright and sweet. Within minutes this fades slightly and the blend becomes sort of perfumy-tickles the nose a little bit, the way fizz from champagne will. This fades quickly also, and I am left with a softly sweet, vanilla-sugar-citrus musk, with a hint of ginger. It smells wonderful, very smooth, not overly sweet, nice throw (though the scent is light), and lasts for several hours. This is the first of the moons I've tried that works great and is a definite keeper. A beautiful scent!

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

I've got CDXXXV (185, I think) In the bottle, and on for about a second it is tangerine! It smells so sweet, and tart and wonderful. But this one is a morpher, folks! It transforms into a fruity blackberry scent which smells wonderful, with a green tinge underneath. The green is more like the juice of a leaf than a herb scent. This underlies the black berry for a while, then gradually dissapears, to be replaced by musk. It is a soft musk, and at this stage, oddly, it is really reminiscent of the CT2 I got last year-a blackberry and deep musk scent, that I love. The end stage is the blackberry and musk-it isn't red musk, and it isn't black musk. It has decent throw, also. However, since the end point is so much like my first CT, and the green note doesn't agree with me, I think I will be swapping this away for another CT, if one becomes available. And I'll definitly be ordering at least one more bottle before they go away.

    Death Cap

I like dirt scents, and I like vanilla, so I thought this might be my thing. Wet it is strong dirt, with coconut??? Yep, I get coconutty dirt. The coconut softens, the dirt soften, yet they linger for 30-45 minutes. Then the coconut fades, the dirt remains, and there becomes a little more incense to it. This lasts a while, as the incense strengthens and the dirt diminishes, until it is a very soft, slightly sweet (vanillla?) incense. I'm not a huge incense fan, but this is gorgeous. Not a lot of throw, staying power seems to be about 3 hours. Really nice scent. I'm not dissapointed!
  24. My votes go to Alice (which is spicy carnation, with a hint of honey and almond), and Pele (soft, warm, tropical and sweet). I also really like Blood Rose. It's a lush, juicy rose, and very voluptuous.

    Pumpkin Patch I (2005, 2006)

Pumpkin with apple cider and mulling spice. I don't think I ever reviewed this.... Anyway, wet and on initially: hints of pumpkin, with an apple and spices predominating. The apple is faint, but contributing some sweetness. As it dries, the apple and pumpkin completely dissapear on me, and leave mulling spices-strong mulling spices. They intensify the longer they are left on, and I am left smelling like a stick of cinnamon-the dry, barky cinnamon, with a hint of clove. I like spice scents, but this one isn't my favorite, so I've swapped it away.
