    Urd

(caveat: I truly detest patchouli) in the imp: dirt and hippie shop on me: dirt and sweat and hippie shop X 10000000000000 gak!!!

    Regan

In the imp, this smells buttery and rich, almost reminiscent of Obatala, which I LOVE. On me, it turns into burnt marshmallow and vanilla. :D If you want to smell like a sweet sugar factory, this is for you. It gave me a stomach ache.

    Grand Guignol

Oh my goodness. When I opened this imp to sniff it I thought 'oh noooooooooooooo, Lolita part deaux!!!' It smelled sickeningly of some vaguely orangush candy. Somehow, on me, it really does smell like a true, soft apricot. Amazing!! I swear I can smell some leaves and a stem in there, even. Unfortunately I am not really into smelling like fruit, so swap pile it is, but I can see someone who is more into fruity scents loving this.

    Othello

Man, I sniffed this one without reading the description and I NEVER would've guessed there to be roses or anything spicy in it! In the imp it kindof smelled like a convenience store, but on me it just smells very...fluffy, and clean. it reminds me of this makeup-remover I used to use by Lancome. Really pretty (and feminine), but fades so, so so fast. I would def. buy a bottle if it had staying power and I am pretty picky about girly scents.

    Squirting Cucumber

I'll echo the above sentiments (scentiments? harhar) that this is not your typical bath&body works meloncumber. It is so relxaing and refreshing and smells good enough to eat without being what I think of as typically "foody". I am so thankful the lab included this freebie imp!! I think I may get a bottle when summer comes around.

    Inferno

In the imp this smelled exactly like marzipan. On me, it turns straight into red-hots. Though I was glad it became less cloying, I think I prefer a more subdued cinnamon.

    Midnight

in the bottle this smelled like straight apple cider vinegar. blech!!! once on it turns into something rather nice somehow, sort of watery and soothing, and...hey, I know this smell. It smells EXACTLY like Nivea lotion! Not too bad, but not really my style, either; this freebie imp is going in my swap pile.

    The Caterpillar

The Caterpillar was a free gift from the lab. I was excited to try it on, it was on my wishlist. However, my boyfriend and I both had the same reaction with it: on our skin, after it dried down, it smelled like CORN TORTILLAS. ?? Not something I really want to smell like.

    La Petite Mort

La Petite Mort was a free gift from the lab. I would NEVER have chosen to try this on my own, because I noticed others thought it had a vanilla scent to it and I. Do. Not. Like. Vanilla. At all. Somehow, though, I think I really like La Petite Mort! It's not overpowering, it doesn't smell like weird fake vanilla; on my boyfriend it smells like vanilla ice cream but it smells a lot less foody on me I think; and I tried layering it with Chimera and it smelled GREAT with that added spiciness. I dunno if I like it enough for a whole bottle, probably not; I will definitely get another imp of it though.

    Black Dahlia

Man, Black Dahlia bummed me out! I lovvve gardenia, it's my second-favorite floral scent after honeysuckle, but something about this scent smelled kind of...rotten. Like rotting flowers. A little dank. Not for me, unfortunately.

    Sudha Segara

Sudha Segara smells soooooooooo comforting. Warm, clean, comfortable, relaxing, and surprisingly unfoody, at least on me. Sadly I don't get much ginger from this, but the soothing creaminess is definitely there. It doesn't have a ton of throw on me, but I find that my skin really tends to devour scents as a rule. I want a 5ml of this.

    Blood Pearl

Blood Pearl was a gamble for me, because coconut is one of my favorite notes ever but musk is not something I typically get excited about. Overall I like it, but I don't think I need a big bottle of it. On me it is mostly warm musk with little to no coconut. I will most likely hang on to the imp, though.

    Plunder

I lovvvvvve Plunder! It definitely smells spicy and woody and there's a hint of tobacco and something vaguely alcoholic, but the cinnamon and nutmeg are the primary players on my skin. It reminds me a lot of Port Royal; I think it's slightly less sweet than Port Royal personally.

    Tamora

This was a free gift from the lab. I had really wanted to try Tamora because I am interested to see if I can find a fruit scent that will work on me (I typically hate fruity/foody scents but I like certain specific fruits if they play a minor role and if they smell like an actual piece of fruit). I am...on the fence about this one. It definitely smells a lot stronger and more complex than I had anticipated; it doesn't smell like a single fruit note, so that's good, but there's so much going on there that I am having a tough time deciding whether I like it or not. It's definitely sweet, but not cloyingly or boringly so...I don't know. I am going to have to give it a few more tries before I make up my mind.

    Chimera

Natural cinnamon and something that smells to me like vanilla. I normally HATE AND DETEST vanilla with the power of a thousand fiery suns; however this vanilla is actually really, really nice. It's not cloying or too foody; it smells like a vanilla bean as opposed to some unholy victoria's secret creation. I am surprised to find that I really love this and have added it to the growing list of scents I intend to purchase a 5ml of!

    Fire of Love

This was a free gift from the lab. I had no idea what to expect from it, but I was really surprised when I tried it on and it turned into straight pine freshener. Not too incendiary to my nose. I do not like it as a personal scent, since the lab's pine note seems to go really, really unpleasantly sharp on me, but I am going to try it out as a room scent.

    Uruk

there is some ingredient in a few of the oils I've tried that really does not agree with my skin; no matter how nice something smells in the imp, it turns into cardboard and cheap air freshener on me. Whatever that is, it's in Uruk. I haven't checked to see if they have any notes in common but Caliban reacted exactly the same way on me even though it smelled really nice and green in the imp. Dangit.

    Queen Alice

This smells really foody in the bottle, almost currant-y I think? On me it smells like a carnation drenched in butter and booze. Not my thing at all but I can see how someone who liked food-inspired scents would be way into this, it's very rich and desserty

    Mead Moon

In the bottle this smells lovely - a little spicy, a little fruity but not gross-fake-fruity, a little boozey. On me it just smells like sweet tarts. I think I might hang on to this for a while and see if aging helps at all, but as it is now it kind of gives me a headache and I don't really like smelling like candy. If that persists, I'm sure I will have no trouble swapping it to someone on whom it works better.

    Hay Moon

This smells SO AMAZINGLY GOOD. It definitely smells like hay and dried grasses, but in an almost soft sort of way; it also smells a little lemony at first but that note faded on me pretty quickly. It smells very unisex to me, nothing distinctly masculine or feminine. This might be my very favorite scent so far and although I appreciate Mead Moon for what it is, I wish I could go back in time, pass on Mead Moon, and get two bottles of Hay Moon instead. EDITED TO ADD: OK, this stuff has AMAZING throw and staying power!! I have to say, on me, almost no BPAL scent so far has had anything you could even call 'throw', and they typically fade from my skin after three hours at the very most. I put on Hay Moon at 6:30 this morning and it's now a little after 3pm and I can still clearly smell it wafting up without even having to put my face near my wrist. Best scent ever.

    Nero

This was a free gift from the lab. Boy. I hate to say it but I think this is the worst thing I've ever voluntarily put on my skin as far as scent goes. A few years ago my mom and sister and I went to Hawaii for a week or so and we bought these bamboo beach mats to sit on on the beach (obviously), and they got all wet and then we put them in the trunk of our rental car and sort of...forgot about them until it was time to leave, and the rotting smell of them smelled EXACTLY like Nero on my skin. Like, rotting prunes, rotting wood, and the smell of a pack of Camels cigarettes. Do not want. But I'm glad I got to try it, for curiosity's sake!

    Eden

This smelled so overwhelmingly, sickeningly sweet in the bottle that I almost didn't try it on. Smelled like straight foody almond extract. I'm glad I braved it anyway! After it dries it smells less like sweet almond and more like milky honey. It's very soft and pretty, doesn't have a lot of throw but is a soothing skin scent. I may purchase a larger bottle of this, I'm not really sure yet. Will definitely use up the imp though. Edited to add: I've tried this one on a couple of times and as it starts fading away, it starts to smell like fizzy cola! Usually I hate to smell of anything candyish or foody but this isn't straight Coca Cola, and I find it pretty nice actually.

    Nosferatu

OK, so I have read a ton of reviews on this site and frequently I see people mention that things smell like dish soap on them, and that this is a bad thing. I was always like, well, I think dish soap smells pretty nice, I can't imagine why this is so universally hated! And then I tried Nosferatu. And it is EXACTLY that Palmolive dish soap smell. Exactly. And I hate it!! Now I get it. Luckily this smells amazing on my boyfriend, and it was a gift for him anyway.

    Zombi

It's so amazing - this REALLY smells like grave dirt and rose. It's one of the most unique rose scents I've ever smelled; the dirt smell is sweet rather than...uh...dusty or muddy, I guess, but it is DEFINITELY dirt and I love it and I want to smell like it always. Unfortunately it doesn't last incredibly long on me (about two hours after application I have to put my nose right against my wrist to smell it) but I won't mind having to reapply. SO GOOD.

    Port Royal

I looooovvvvve this one so much. It smells like rum and cinnamon, but not really boozey, if that makes sense? It lacks that gross alcoholic edge. Really beautiful, although it does threaten to turn craft-store-ish a few hours in. All in all I like it and intend to purchase a larger bottle at some point.
