  1. I've only got hold of a few tester imps so far, more sniffies really so your milage may wary from what I got since I got so small amounts.

Evil Halfling - Before testing I can't really get the phrase "evil cookie" out of my mind and it appealed to me alot. When I finally got to try these toghether I wasn't really disappointed. My first reaction was that is was a lot like Bilquis. Later it fades to be more evil fruit and less cookies but still with some crumbs remaining. All in all my little test makes me want a bigger sample so I can slater and hopefully get it to last longer.

Evil Halfling Mage - The mage and the evil combine to drown out most of the halfling but I'd need more testing to say more than that. I do believe there's an RPG imp puchase in my future at least. I need to try both the combos a bit more but it's very enticing so far.

  2. Initial impressions: Oh, this has citrus... always a warningsign for me. Anyways... For science! Or well, reviews anyways.

In the imp: citrus! mostly grapefruit.

wet: still very much citrus... more lemony now..

    Drying down: lemon hard candy

Dry: Aaand its cleaning aid to my nose... Pure citrus. If you are looking for a nice citrus scent this is it but it is not for me.

  3. Initial impressions: oh, tobacco... another domnant note on me.

    In the imp: Smoky leather.

Drying: The tobacco is beahaving itself. This is rather nice actually.

Dry: Nice subtle and unisex... I like it. A very laid back scent.

  4. Initial impression: This seems interesting...

In the imp: Oh, I smell the wood and something that softens it, Probably the musk - yummy!

Wet: The musk and the pine plays nice with eachother and the woods is a nice background. Nice throw too

Dry: The musk keep this from being a male scent. Now it is nicely dark and cosy like a soft grotto under the pine trees where two people have just had a .. nice time :P

  5. Initial impression: I have no idea what this will smell like.

In the imp: Nice rounded florals... not sharp at all.

Wet: It is so nice! Can't really separate the notes as I am unfamiliar with them but it is nice and cheery and soft.

Dry: There is something woodier now with the soft florals as a nice background.

  6. I have gotten to try The Dodo (it was a frimp from the lab! They truly are mindreaders) and it has jumped up on my favoritelist instantly and today I got a bottle of Gennivre from a swap and it is wonderful! I smell tea with sugar and honey and it is just lovely! I really recommend it to any other sugar-fans :D

*sings* pour some sugar on mee~ :P

  7. I have to second Shadwell. It might be unimpable but you can probably get a decant in the swaps/sales (I am selling mine for example). It is an undescribable scent really.. it wasn't for me but you might like it and very bizarre. Same with Mr Nancy :D

Other than that I don't have much of strangeness to chime in on but I am writing down some of the stuff here for myself :P

  8. In the imp: It smells a bit like lemonade...

Wet: Lemon verbena is so much better than pure lemon on me. It spares me from the cleaning agent hells with the greeness and also I can smell hints of the green tea here too. Not much florals though. Which is good I guess.

Dryer: This smells like lemon hard candy!

Dry: It keeps the smell of lemon hard candy for a few hours and then disappears.

Verdict: It is a nice lemony scent which actually works on me but I am not sure I want to smell like lemon hard candy. To the swaps it goes.

  9. Frimp from the lab

In the imp: It smells... juciy? Where does bone get juciy from? (after reading the other reviews I guess it is the dragon's blood)

Wet: Still that juicy smell but with abit of wood in it...

I am beginning to think this is the dragons boner instead of bone...

Drydown: The wood is coming forward more and more. Hubby sniffed and said massage oil... I have no idea why. His nose is strange (says the girl who gets juicy from a bone perfume).

Dry: More wood than it was wet but all in all this stays the same one me the whole time. It is tasty

Verdict: This is an interesting scent and I will keep my imp.

  10. Shango sounds really interesting with the fruit and the chilli and the sugar. I will have to try that definetly. I think my next laborder will be sugarthemed :P

Btw, anyone else been followed by bees/wasps when wearing sugary scents? I was today and it was quite funny, I tried to shoo the poor thing towards some fragrans lilac bushes but no such luck... my little nephew was really amused though :D

  11. I have quite suprisingly realised that I love the sugar cane note. So now I am wondering what the "best" sugar cane scents are. I have tried Temple Viper and I also like the sugar in Midnight on the Midway even if that is not as prominent.

Anyone wanna rec me stuff from the GC that contain sugar cane?

If Retail Only is an option, I highly recommend Peacocks.

"Asian pear, white musk, bamboo pulp, violet, ambergris, sugar cane, night-blooming jasmine, plum, freesia, and moss."

I'm usually not a fan of strongly fruity blends, but this one is great. Like a fizzy splash of sunshine everywhere. The sugar cane is definitely a bright, syrupy element, but the whole thing keeps out of the "sickly sweet" territory with the ambergris and white musk, I think (and probably the moss, though that doesn't come out much on me).

    Woo, Peacocks!

It sounds lovely but unfortunately I don't think there is a retailer in all of my country. I will put it on my list though and see if I can get someone to get it for me at some time. It is indeed that sweet but not sickly sweet I love about the sugar cane :P

  13. When I first opened the imp I was assulted by almond meal. Pure almont meal and nothing else.

Unfortunately it stays almond meal even on me and I just can't stand it. I does not agree with my nose or my skin sadly.

    To swaps it goes.

  14. When I sniffed the bottle I was suddenly transported to the forests of northern sweden. Deep in the forest where the ground is damp, covered in dark green moss. The trees are all pine and fir and they are draped in lichen. It is dark even though it is in the middle of the day and you are uncomfortably aware that it is very easy to both get lost and to misstep and disappear into a murky hole. I spent a lot of time in the forests as a child so this smells like home for me.

On my skin it stays the same and I love it. This is a serious scent and I will defintetly keep the imp.

  15. Ok, it's official. I have strange skin chemistry.

Mad Sweeny is all whiskey in the imp - hubby claims it is too sweet but I say it reminds me of Macallens whiskey, that is aged on sherry casks. In any case, I am looking forward to smelling like I doused my hand in good smokey whiskey so I dab some on, and walk into the livingroom to let hubby sniff... he says, that's not whiskey. Sure it is, I say and raise my wrist to my nose. Too my suprise - no there is no whiskey here... there is burnt wood though. It smells like someone poured whiskey on a log and then set fire to it.

My conclusion, my skin eats the whiskey. At least I can wear it and drive without fearing for my drivers license if i get caught in a controll... It is a brilliantly constructed scent though, applause to Beth!

  16. This is STRONG rose on me. Both in the imp and around the imp and in the same room as the imp it is strong. And this should have been a warning to me but foolishly I put on my usual amount which is not very much. Either I amp this like crazy or my nose is very sensitive or I got an aged imp or a very new one (it was from a forum sale) but this is way too loud for me. Right now I have washed it off with unsented oil and soap and I can STILL smell it strong enough for it to tickle my nose.

I kind of like how it smells but to wear this I would have to use a miniscule amount. It is roses with baseball bats aiming for my poor nose...

  17. In the imp: Oh yes there is apple here and definetly not the green granny smith kind, no this has nothing of that tang. This is sweet and moist.

Wet: Lots of apple, I get nothing of the darkness behind it in this stage.

Dry: This is disappearing fast :P I can smell it if i stick my nose to my wrist but no further away. Will try re-applying.

...later: Well, reapplying didn't really help. I asked the hubby though and he said I smelled like fabric softener in a good way without me putting my wrist under his nose, spring scent I think he said. Maybe it is just a scent I get used too quick... in any case. I wanted to love this but unfortunately it does not really work on my skin. I will try to use it as a room scent though cause I think it might be excellent for that.

  18. In the imp: Yes, crisp is the word for this. I can't identify any notes but then again I am lousy at notes yet.

Wet on the wrist: There are several light florals coming and going.. I think I smelled white rose at one point. It still smells clean and fresh. I think I have smelled fabric softener like this - in a positive way. It doesn't smell plastic or fake at all.

Dry: I am getting sent memories of sleeping at my grandmothers. Clean sheets and summer.

Verdict: I like the scent but it seems my skin eats it... I have to put my nose on my wrist to even smell it after only an hours or so. Granted I had fairly little to test and it might do well with a more generous application. This is a scent I could sleep in.

  19. This was one of the scents I fell for just reading the description. So it had to be the first I tried... here goes my BPAL virginity!

In the imp: It smells like standing on the deck of a wooden ship with a gentle wind blowing past. I never knew perfume could smell like this...

Wet on the wrist: Lots of wood here.... pleasant wood absolutley.

A bit later: There is that wiff of fresh air again... I don't know what note it is? Patcholi maybe?

Dry: More incence now but still woody. It is a rather strong scent and I am happy I only put on a little. It smells real nice though.

Stayingpower: I went swimming and I could smell the scent the whole time in the pool, even after showering I could detect it.

Extra: A funny thing is that almost all the incense went away in the water but the woodyness stayed. I reapplied after showering and this time it seems to stay more woody. Maybe it has something to do with the chlorine resdue on my skin, or the fact that I used a diffrent shower gel... Something changed that is for sure, to the better in my opinion.
