    Gomorrah

Wet, Gomorrah is heavy on the black herbs, and I can smell an almost sandalwood-y cast to the oil that somehow reminds me of a fired-black, elaborately carved ritual bowl.... The dark, green, lush fig soon emerges and blends with the herbs (the woody note dissapearing. This is Evil Fig More accurately, this is the offering to some dark, primal Goddess with a corrupted edge. It will be interesting to see how Eden compares to Gomorrah. I can very much imagine Eden as Gomorrah's lighter, gentler counterpart

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Three Witches layered over a fruity BPAL, especially one of the fruit SNs makes for a wonderful autumn scent Over The Hespirides it's wonderful (although The Hespirides dissapears so quickly), and over d'Anjou Pear it's divine Anyone layer Three Witches with Jack? My lord...if anyone has, PLEASE respond! That sounds like the perfect autumn scent Jack by itself is too fruity for me for autumn

    Queen of Sheba

Almonds, savory herbs (??!), and a bit of fruity, cherry-like sweetness. This blend quickly develops into a creamy cherry-almond soap...a nice cherry-almond soap, but nothing I'd wear.

Scents for late summer into autumn

Bella...the first thing I saw was your avatar and thought "Andra!" I say...Delphi...intoxicatingly murky

    search engine stuff

I've had the exact same problem. The only reason why I can get to it at all is because the advanced option page is bookmarked on my laptop, but that's going to go away soon when my hard drive is replaced
  6. Seance is pretty similar to Rose Red, to my nose; they both contain the same rose note

    Follow Me Boy

This smells like dirty, unwashed jasmine on my skin Oddly enough, I can detect my beloved creamy vanilla bean note, but it doesn't blend very well with the "dirtiness."

    Burial

Oooo!! This reminds me of The World+dirt This is the scent of a forest; not very dark--actually, it's like a lighter version of Tarot: Death to my nose Earthy and calming and slightly moist and just lovely

    Séance

Yeap, this is the Rose Red rose note! less green, but with something herbal in it...I'll have to do a side-by-side comparison, but as of now it looks like Seance would make a wonderful replacement for Rose Red

    Villain

This is absolutely gorgeous. Having tried the somnium blends, I'm used to lavender being strong, sharp, and medicinal. This lavender is nothing of the sort. This is lavender silk with a hint of floral and light, smooth, creamy musk. This is THE best smelling masculine scent I have ever smelled. Hands down.

    The Unicorn

There's a pale musky-herby layer here which I LOVE, but there's also a sharp, soapy floral layer that doesn't agree with me. This scent bears more wearing, as I refuse to let this partially gorgeous scent slip away

    Aeval

I'll admit, when I first saw Aeval's description, I was all MUSKANDTONKA!! I hoped that those would be the dominant notes, and that the others wouldn't get in the way. When first applied, Aeval smells like dewy sage; no savory, thank goodness! Then an almost...buttery...note begins to emerge. For about 2 seconds I'm terrified that it's the evil Jack/Chaste Moon/Harvest Moon butter note, but my fears are immediately dispelled--this is smooth, slightly powdery tonka The sweet pea also emerges and manages to behave itself on my flower-hating skin. The white musk is subtle but lovely This reminds me of a more womanly Juliet because of the sweet pea and musk notes. It's a very clean, misty scent, and absolutely beautiful I just may need a bottle!

    Blood Amber

I get soapy, musky, ambery impressions from this stone-surfaced (to my nose it literally has the texture of a smooth, cool, lump of amber!) scent. It is, odd though it sounds, a "clean headshop-y" sort of scent, although it smells little to nothing like Dragon's Blood to me . This is the olfactory equivalent of red-veined marble

The search for the perfect Violet....

Yeah...Sybaris is VIOLETSOMGVIOLETS! This is the first BPAL violet scent I've ever smelled, and I don't know how well it stacks up, unfortunately...I know that it must be some sort of bouquet, because violet EO is obscenely expensive and nearly impossible to obtain, but I haven't even smelled real violet flowers recently so......yeah, I have nothing to compare it to! There is a violet SN up on ebay though--fresh from the lab!

    Sybaris

Sharp, high-pitched, oddly *ozone-y* violets and nothin' *but* violets on my skin at first. After a few minutes, I think I can detect the base of tonka beneath the violets. The sweet clove peeks out after a while, when the violets have calmed down and ceased to be all scary and zombie-like I can't really smell the incense, though I really like the drydown, which has a warm and "misty" quality to it that, for some reason, screams "VACATION!!!" to me. However, the violets are too shrill throughout most of the wear for my tastes

    The Moon

Wet, The Moon is very strong, oddly *fruity* jasmine...plums and jasmine, perhaps? I also detect a bubbly, rootbeer-like note. The Moon strikes me as a gray-purple-colored scent. "Nostalgia" has been a word used to describe this oil, and I definately agree; like...a wistful shadowy memory of a moonlit night full of shadows. If this were a song, it would be a wistful, sweet song from a 50s movie--faded, grey, and oddly familiar.

    Sugar Skull

My first experiance with Sugar Skull was when Anshara bathed herself in it at the NYC gathering. I spent the rest of the time leaning in to sniff her. Innapropriate for a first meeting, I know, but....she had this aura of amazing yumminess around her! I couldn't help myself! Anyway...this doesn't smell like maple sugar to me. It smells like EVIL SUGAR Evil as in...dark...heavy...not molasses, not brown sugar...maybe a bit burnt, but not much... Just...the yummiest, most evilest, richest sugar EVER

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

Three Witches and Yuletide smell surprisingly similar to me upon drydown

    Athens

The myrrh makes this smell like sweet honeyed insence I recognize the wine and honey from Delphi, but Athens doesn't seem to have the same intoxicating quality. I get no florals (thank goodness). During drydown the honey and wine fade away until only the myrrh is left. This smells like an ancient Greek temple would smell, and it's Delphi's non-drugged-up counterpart

I would email customer service about that Kennedy is really nice!

    Dia de los Muertos

I really procrastinated in reviewing this one I knew it would be difficult, as this is one of the most complex scents I've ever smelled, EVER. The smokiness is immediately discernable, as are the florals (unidentifiable), and boh are backed by a smooth dark chocolate undertone. Soon, I begin smelling a bit of the candy sweetness (just a touch--it blends with the floral notes. I smell a little breadiness here, but it's very light and unobtrusive, so it doesn't feel like you're wearing bread perfume! Oh! a few minutes later, here comes the sweet berry wine! this is the same wine that's in Mabon! Yesterday I went to Lincoln Center in NYC to see New York City Ballet's Double Feature. After the ballet, I went with my mom to explore the fleet of white-hooded craft and food stalls which dotted Lincoln center. Dia de los Muertos smells like that marketplace--the wafting scents of foods mingling with the flowers of the surrounding gardens, and touches of smoke from the cookpots and juice peeps were carrying around to keep cool, all carried by the breeze. Beautiful. Just beautiful

    Cinnamon girl...

I can't *wait* to find out of Three Witches smells like my lovely SN cinnamon imp (THANK YOU ivyandpeony!! ) I've smelled Three Witches, but I don't think I had the sn imp at the time

    Quietude

Lavender and citrus make an odd combination, at least to my nose , since citrus reads as "energizing" and lavender reads as "lay your ass DOWN." There's a peripheral note that I just can't identify here...sage maybe? something herby? maybe the chamomile people keep mentioning...This is indeed calming, but it doesn't have the zzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz quality for me that the somnium blends have. I don't like it as much as Moxie or Lustration, but I wouldn't mind a 5 or 10 ml of this

    Zephyr

I can smell the musk, lemon, neroli, and bergamot...this is a very breezy, fresh, soft scent, and absolutely lovely If there's vanilla here, maybe it gives this blend it's softness...I can't really make it out as an individual note This is wonderful, and I want a 5 ml

Looking for scents that smell like chai

Ava-Luxe's The Noir is a heavily spiced black tea (and wonderful! ) but I'm hoping to find something sweeter and creamier.
