  1. Pink rose, red musk, red sandalwood, oakmoss, vetiver, nectarine, black tea, ambrette, jasmine, and blackcurrant bud.

First of all... i would like to say the wear length on this is phenomenal.

This sort of reminds me of ponthia meter from last year, except on a tea and musk back ground. Not that they are super alike or anything, just the rose note used between the two of them that shows up at first is similar.

At first its very sandalwood, rose and a touch of the yummy type of vetiver (okay... i am a freak and admit i have some EO of it I smell whenever i want to chillax). The combo almost makes me think of a warmer, slightly more sophisticated rakasha.

Then as it dries down, the tea and musk become more prominate, mixing with the sandalwood and vetiver to make a very yummy subtle black tea scent.

Its both sophisticated and natural at the same time.

For those of you scared of red musk... even fresh it isnt very prominent or rough, its alot softer and less there than most of the red musk blends, but still works its magic. For those of you scared of vetiver... it might just be my skin, but you might wanna watch out a little more. Its not prominent, in fact its very well blended and a supporting note, but at least on my skin it sticks around the whole journey.

The fruit shows up just a little, not to make it fruity, but to lend a slight sweetness. Like a fruit tea, being sipped in a pagan brothel as a lady unwinds from a night of passion.

Its not overwhelmingly sexy that one could not wear it on a normal day, the earthiness and sexiness and sophistication are all very well blended, just like the notes, to make it pretty much appropriate for whenever.

Today the rose is sticking around a little more and its more like smokey black rose tea. I am guessing as it sits a few days the musks and rose might get a lil more prominent over the woods.

  2. Frankincense, orris root, asuhi, leather, and ginger-infused cream accord.

This actually makes me think of a masculine glowing vulva... the cream almost comes across as a very mild coconut, but is at the same time milky. Neither of leather or ginger is over powering... tho together with the cream make up the dominate notes of this scent.
It doesn't strike me so much as a 'pretty' scent as a raw animalistic scent. Its soft enough to be worn by a woman, but rugged enough to be worn by a manly man.

But like glowing vulva, the scent blends together to a warm coming off the skin glow.

I am not sure how self conscious I would be wearing this to class ect... because I don't know how well it would be received as its more along the lines of an true earthy scent, but its perfect for cuddling up with a book.

  3. Ever since I started buying BPAL, I've been on the lookout for that 'perfect' rose scent. Something sweet, nothing dark or too green. I've tried Maiden, Persephone and Kurukulla, and they all end up morphing into the same weird fruity-rose scent. Bleh. Then I tried Pink Snowballs, and it was PERFECT. For for like 30 seconds, until it turned to play-doh. Stupid skin chemistry.

I'm thinking of hunting down a decant of Hope and Victoria, but if anyone has any suggestions of a scent ... that would be great. Thanks! :wub2:

Mmm whip was mentioned a few posts ago, and that is perfect. Great balance of rose and leather.

I like wanda a little better, but there are more elements in there that make it less of a rose scent and more of a floral perfume with musk.

Rose Red is my older sisters absolute favorite, smelled horrible on me, but amazingly rose on her. That could be worth a shot, because most ppl think the rose from there smells like the rose from pink snow balls (smells more like the rose, with a snow element to me tho). Shiloh describes it as 'rose candy'. If you can find it, I'd suggest this as it sounds most like you are looking for.

Black Rose is pretty, as is spellbound. But spellbound is more red musky, where was black rose seems more... spicy? I don't know if you would consider that too dark though.

Ooo... and one of my favs (i keep meaning to get a bottle of) that is very rosey is Rahkasha. Patch and rose... earthy womaness. The rose in that is quite lovely, its more exotic earthy than sweet though.

  4. A little disappointed this is TKO the spray, I was hoping for something more floral for the house, where as now this feels a little too night time for anything other than the bedroom.

Still smells very very good, but get this if you are looking for a linen spray rather than a room spray.

As it dries it becomes a little less TKO, but still is a calm tranquil scent that would feel out of place in a kitchen or living room.

  5. Wulric! Its a little sweet because of the chocolate- but its not cloying like TKO in my experience (more rich than straight up sweet, and has grounding notes with it), is def my fav sleep blend. It has a hint of cologne smell in there (that makes me feel like I am snuggling up with a man).

Also... Antihelion (the TAL oil). Sleep really isn't a listed use on it, but it knocks me out pretty fast normally. Its more of a lavender and spice rather than a lavender and vanilla.

  6. I second white light and antihelion! In my experience both are great, but white light seems to be better at energizing happy and connected to the world where as antihelion seems to calm me way down and its more a tranquil peace. Prob works diff on everyone tho, so not sure how relevant my experience is.

I also suggest getting Arabian Nights, to use as an aid to meet people near by so you have more support at hand (and maybe find some potential play dates with mothers with children of similar ages. You will have the bond of experience of children of that age and can use that to get closer and find people who are at a similar stage of life and have similar problems that you can relate to).

For some reason Linden is coming to mind. I haven't found many BPAL blends where it is prominent, but maybe get ahold of some of the EO. Its beautiful alone, and blended. I love it with a touch of rose and lavender, but mostly linden. That might be worth looking up... as would some BPAL citrus blends. Or neroli is quite uplifting as well.

Also something that makes you feel sexy can be quite uplifting, especially when hubby is in town?

I hope you get to feeling better!

  7. There is the rose... which is more along the lines of rose red, cept rose red smelled like that on me too, where as The Rose is a lil more fresh and natural. I also like spellbound, though its not quite cold enough to wear anymore.

If your looking more for a something and rose... I can never recommend Pepper enough (i swear its a lil of everything) but it comes out smelling like a peppered vanilla rose on me in the dry down most of the time. Only try it if you like pink pepper tho.

Mictech- something long and aztec is also a really lovely rose. First blend with rose in it that worked on me and got me started on it. Its roses on a fall rainy day :)

Well anyways, mostly just popped in to suggest the Rose :) Have a good night, and good luck!

  8. HONEY!!! and... sweetness.

Is that... ylang ylang? That isn't listed. Its reminding me of a more feminine version of the lupercalia room spray.

I can smell the tuberose now too... its like light ylang ylang and tuberose dancing ontop of honey and booze. It also has a small dose of the musk that ruined smut for me about an hour in, but its very fleeting

I love the honey and floral balance in here... its like what I wanted O and Smut and flower moon (tho that one worked one me) to be!

It makes me feel so sexy... I must plot an order for a bottle of this soon.

  9. I'll have to see what this is like after its not mail-fresh... But as of right now:

It starts off very very sandy... then I can smell a little bit of the sweet but sharp dragon's blood. Then the Yew comes and dominates everything for a few mins. Then its Yew and sand. Then the sand takes a back seat as the flowers blend with the sharp earthyness of everything else.

Its amazing how much the blend really gives the gritty feeling of sand through smell. Its interesting enough I am going to hold on to the bottle... but not a love love so far. The rose is kind of similar to the rose note in black rose.

Edit: now I am in love... this is a slightly more complicated slightly less sweet take on black rose. Which I loved, but never quite enough to get a bottle. I might need a back up if its as good when i try it later this week before the lunacy.

  10. This one is going to need some aging I believe... red currant did its 'omg cloying sweet rotten birthday cake' thing on me... I can tell there is a really nice earthy background that I hope will come out with aging. But for now red currant with its mole honey have infiltrated the village and are dancing around in it spawning like rabbits. bergamont, oak moss, neroli and patcholli are hidden up in the cellar in terror at the currant honey babies domination over the village.

  11. mmm... it really is spring in a bottle. Not sure if I need to upgrade to a bottle tho, because on my skin its just like a lighter version of dog days of summer (without the smoke note).

i'm mostly just getting grass and dandelion. Wait, where did the dandelion go? Oh, I think I am starting to get a whift of cloud berry on the dry down. Now its greenery with a tart sweetness. Now tart sweetness and a really light earth note

I'm going to have to give it a full day test run when I am not covered in stuff... but I think I will be happy with my decant (my wallet cries tears of joy), but it sure is a morpher... will update on what it turns into next.

Update after a full days (about an hour) test:

Mmm... this time there are alot more notes. I can smell the wine, dandelion (for longer) and the cloud berry, tho the scent is predominately green edging on being a bit soapy. It has a decent amount of throw... but within an hour and a half I couldn't smell even a trace of it. It was worth reapplying tho for the first day of spring. Going to wear it a few more times and see if it grows on me. I like it a lot, but not sure if its different egnough from bottles I already have.

  12. fresh wood... like a man of the forest after he bathed in a water fall (with irish fairy women all over him... per usual guy fragrance commercial)

A lil to masculine for me, but I will find myself some man in my life who it fits well, and slather my decant all over him. My skin eats this up real quick.

Very evocative tho. A soft, but wild, masculine scent.

Planty and green, but wooden and clean.

  13. I have a thing for Boss Selection by Hugo Boss. The official website describes it thusly:

Top Note: Burst of citrus freshness of mandarin and grapefruit invigorated with fresh green notes. Aquatic-Fresh-Spicy, fresh Green Accord, Mandarin, and Pink Peppercorn

Heart Note: The driving element of the fragrance a modern fougere of geranium, cedar leaf, patchouli and heliotrope. Aromatic-Floral Petigrain, Cedar Leaves, Geranium Leaves, Star Anise

Base Note: Magnetic & sexy notes of cedarwood, vetyver, and musks. Masculine-Woody Cedarwood, Patchouli, Vetyver, Heliotrope, Musky Accord

    Any BPal suggestions?

No... I'm bumping this tho because that is one of the few fragrance that has worked on the man so far (and believe me, he has gotten almost a years worth of me slathering him with anything smelly I can find) and I would love to find him a bpal that works with his finicky skin chemistry.

  14. At first this reminded me alot of spellbound, then it was really rosey, a complex blend of quite a few types of rose. Quite a bit darker and rosey... then it turned into saffron (guessing. its the note I get from bastet that isn't amber) and anise with musk.

I still really like it, boy liked it too :P Its a very empowering scent.

  15. Okay, so keeping in mind my imp is from when acts 4 and 5 just came out... so its quite a few months old.

I really disliked it at first, and almost traded it away... not sure why I kept it. Last night I tried it on, and its so gorgeous... red musk and a lil floral... with a dry down of musky cloves.

I've been looking for a perfect clove scent... and this might be it. Really long lasting too... it survived many diaper changes at work today.

    Edit:

O noes... the clove note died. Now its a nice red musk with a lil bit of iris and rose. Might try and pick up a bottle when the cd is leaving... but it didn't age nearly as well as I had hoped.

Now its nice... but its pretty generic and powdery.

  16. mmm... wore this one today on a cold rainy day, it fit right in. I was taken off guard how aquatic this turned out to be, given the wood, spice and resin notes in it... but its not an ocean aquatic or river or lake aquatic. Nope, our lady of the underworld is an oasis aquatic scent, a beautiful temptress lounging near the water hole in a dessert.

The rose comes through a lil at first, but then agave/tobacco dominated for a bit, before settling down into copal with whiffs of tobacco.

The specialty coffee of the day today happened to be aztec coffee... mmm... so I was surrounded by aztec aromas most of the morning. Mictecachiuatl lasted at least 8 hours, though I reapplied when I got the chance then, because after 4 or 5 hours it had lost a lot of its complexity on me.

The perfect aquatic lady's fall scent... or a great aquatic for those who can't generally wear aquatics.

I think I need another bottle... I hope it gets a lil more resinous and a lil less sweet once it ages, but its wonderful as is too :P

edit 9/12. The woods and resins are really coming out alot more now... so the lasting end result is sweet woody tobacco. It lasts well over 12 hours... its been like 16 (with two showers) and its still going strong. It feels more and more aquatic to me the longer it wears... even though its woody. I really need a backup!

  17. Milk and Honey was my favorite of the TAL oils I got recently from a decant circle (favorite over all after arabian nights).

The two times I have used it I have gotten fantastic results... more obvious than I've gotten from some of the blends that aren't described as 'subtle'.

First time, I was flipping out driving, drifting off, not able to pay attention to the road... so I dug around in my purse to see what I had packed for the road trip (expecting concentration)... I was all like "why on earth did I pack milk and honey for a trip?". It was an off label use, but it helped me calm down and feel better...

Second time is a far better example of its uses: My computer had been acting up (dying) and after three reboots still wasn't turning on... so I tried one last time, anointing the enter key with it. By the time I had gotten back with a beer, the computer was running. I still needed to back up the files though, and my external HD power source still wasn't in. So I called up a friend, went over to his house... and his power cord just happened to work. I found a job at a place I had been wanting to work at wishfully for over a year the next day (all taking place in a 2 hr time span). Ex-Boy-Toy suddenly got romantic (something he never is... and I tried a few TAL love potions)... and is taking me out for dinner tonight. Last night I wasn't feeling well, and he came all the way across town to get me and hold me in his arms (back at his place, because he is still a control freak, but I can forgive him that sometimes). Milk and Honey has saved me in so many little ways recently... I have a big bottle coming my way when I place a TAL order for my decant circle tomorrow.

  18. I was sitting out on the porch this evening with my dad, and I recognized a mixture of scents that was very calming and evocative... it seemed like something BPAL would have made.

That sweet thick air under the moon light, with a touch of the wooden rocking chairs and the grass. Maybe a touch of sweat and dirt from the day that had dried.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for something that smelt like a cold summer night, the isn't floral or overly ozone/ aquatic. It was more of a sweet transparent (almost aquatic) air, and a light dirt/wood earthy scent (since there were crops not too far from us).

  19. Eisheth Zenunim has a very similar vibe to Les Bijoux, though with neroli and chocolate added to the mix. I love em both ;p

I found Daiyu alot sweeter than Bordello.

Gwenyth turns out mostly rose (at least on me), but is a delicious rose. Though I don't think its as uber unique as the notes suggest once it gets on the skin.

Agrat bat malaht turns a dirty caramel. Red lantern is coming in a few months, though they aren't quite the same, its a caramel fix.

I don't know quite what the torture queen smells like, but its delicious. I don't know if its worth stocking up on, because my bottle from may seems to be getting alot less intense. It might just be mine though, but its definitely a great perfume.

  20. rough patchouli and spices the first few minutes, and then it mellows out into airy spices.

I was expecting this to be a touch darker and more grounded based on the notes.

Didn't pick up too much carnation *thank god* so we'll see how this ages before Aug for the final verdict.

    Spicy without being foodie
