    The Apothecary

At first this reminded me of the smell of a dusty library. The kind with hidden treasures of knowledge. It dried to a soft "floral" maybe? Very soft, powdery. I didn't get the herbal scents of others. It wasn't that strong for me.

    Sticky Pillowcase

We always used our pillowcases when trick or treating as kids. When I first saw this scent it reminded me of those fun Halloween nights. I had to have it. This really is the smell of a fresh cotton pillowcase filled with various candies after a night stomping through the neighborhood as a little monster. Warm creamy, honey based candy corn, sickly sweet smarties, and so much more. It's lovely sugary goodies on your skin and the smell lasts all day on me. This is one of my favorite BPAL scents ever.

    Bite Me

Wet - straight out of the bottle this is pure caramel goodness. On the drydown the almond starts to mingle with the caramel This reminded me of a beignet from Cafe Du Monde, sprinkled in powedered sugar. I had to look up a Croquembouche again to remember exactly what it is. It's basically mini beignets that are stuck together to form a cone, drizzled with caramel to hold them together, and dusted with fine powdered sugar. This fragrance hits that EXACTLY!! I love it, and want to bite myself I smell so yummy!!!

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

Very violety at first. As it dries down you smell more of the vanilla. All three scents come together quite beautifully. I love the sweetness of the vanilla and the violet, but the gardenia lends a soft powdery night to the overall fragrance.

    Osun

I don't get the honey at ALL as it's wet. It smells very much like a heavy chemical cleaner that is supposed to have that "fresh" scent. Very much like a laundry detergent smell, as it has some soap like undertones. As it dries, I start to smell more of the honey. It's very much like honey right out of the jar, ambery, gooey goodness. This would be amazing layered with Honey I Washed The Kids or similar. I'm not that into the honey only smells, so I dont think I'd wear this often, but it's very nice (after it dries down)

    Mania

Wet this reminded me right away of Hypnotique Poison. But on the drydown I get more of the strawberry and musk getting together. I didn't pick up any citrus notes at all actually. It has the warm, incensey sweetness like Snake Oil and Eat Me in my opinoin. So for me that means...it's a KEEPER!!

    Bluebeard

Straight away, out of the bottle and wet this is super strong. On the drydown, I can really start to smell the lavendar and violets merging together. The vetiver lends a earthy, woody note that makes this more of a masculine scent to me. It reminds me of a lot of mens fragrances on the market right now actually as vetiver is prevalent in alot of commercial men's fragrances.

    Hermia

Wow, totally not what I thought once I read the fragrance notes. At first this was very spicy, so I was thinking cinnamon, but cinnamon usually makes me nauseous and this did not. Drying it was more of a spicy floral, but not I can really smell the amber. Its more of a spicy amber now. Quite enjoyable.

    Thanatos

Wet, on first application this reminded me of something caramel like...but then it changed to a amber like fragrance. Must be the myrrh? On the dry down, it is mostly sandalwood, warm and inviting. It's one of my favorite notes. It is very incensy, sexy and slightly dark. A keeper!!!

    Veil

In the bottle this is very strong, reminding me of gasoline at first. Upon application it is very green, sharp and earthy. As it dries down, I smell more of the violet and lavendar, coming together in the perfect union. Two of my favorite scents, I love how they come together in this fragrance, with the sandalwood creating a strong depth under the two. It's like a stroll through a forest, stopping to pluck a bouqet of fresh violets and lavendar. (not that they grow in the forest, but you get the point)

    Apothecary v1

At first this reminded me of the smell of a dusty library. The kind with hidden treasures of knowledge. It dried to a soft "floral" maybe? Very soft, powdery. I didn't get the herbaly, grassy notes that others got. It wasn't that strong for me.

    Sin

Wet this is patchouli and cinnamon, yet I don't hate it. I usually I get headaches from anything with cinnamon. But here it is very light. Just enough to warm the patchouli. I like that the other notes in this (some of my faves) come out later, like the sandalwood. On the dry down and later, this is a sexy incensy scent. Similar to the incense they often burn for mass in Catholic churches mixed with the leathe scent of the church pews, and the muskiness of the hymnal books. Warm, sexy and defintely sinful. Im suprised I liked this because of the cinnamon, but I do. It's a very warm, sexy, intoxicating, incensey smell.

    Catherine

Right away this repulsed me. It's like a very strong furniture polish. Once I read the description, I could kind-of, sorta, maybe get the rosemary. This is headache inducing strong. Is that what she use to poison people with? Because I could see why they would die from it. Whoa mama this is strong.

    Wanda

Wet on the skin, and straight away that I smell the violet. I love the smell of violets. It's sweeter, with a bite of the leather/musky smell. As it dries down it starts to remind me of those French violet candies. This defintely is a sexier scent. I was not sure I would like it, but the violet is really drawing me in. I might actually keep this one, not sure if I would buy a large bottle, but I might just use and treasure this imp.

    Lorelei

At first this is hard to capture any notes. It's almost clean and aquatic with a bit of a citrus kick. On the dry down it gets more citrus smelling, and I can smell more of the ylang ylang. I dont smell the sandalwood at all, which is a shame because I love sandalwood. This is defintely not for me, it's too light and clean. I tend to not like the citrus scents too much.

    Blood Lotus

At first it is a heavy, sweet scent. Like a cherry cough syrup, but in a good way. As it dries down it is a sweet, but warm scent with underlying notes of amber perhaps. I'm not sure it's for me, but it's kind of nice.

    Amsterdam

At first, wet on the skin this is very soapy smelling. Like a larger lathering bar of Irish Spring. On the dry down it becomes more floral, like a small bouqet of white florals. This would be a great Spring fragrance. Although I dont usually like florals, this one is actually very soft and wonderful smelling.

    Lolita

In the vial - very strong lemon scent First application - strong Lemon Pledge scent to me Dry down - at first it was very lemon grass smelling and then dryed down to a sweet bubblegum scent Overall - as I got over the heave citrus scent, the sweeter notes filled up and made the scent quite lovely. I smelled my wrist almost all day long with this one, and it stayed on pretty much all day.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

OMG! Thank you for that. I am getting back into BPAL and want to add reviews and keep track of what I have on hand, and what I want to order etc. This is a big help

    Paris

In the bottle - soapy, clean but strong Wet - a pungent aroma that is hard to describe Drydown- finally starting to get the lavendar smell Fade - cream with soft lavendar
  22. ianastar

    Versailles

At first this was very floral with a spicy kick of some sort. It dried down to a smell similar to Play-doh (which must be the amber). Amber always has this kind of Play-doh smell to me. It's not bad, but defintely not one of my favorite scents to wear very often.
  23. ianastar

    Marie

The violet was sharp and crisp at first, but this died down to a lighter floral. It almost came across as a bunch of white florals on me. Like a bride's bouqet.

    Freak Show

In the bottle it smells like Chocolate liquer or something. When I first put it on...it smelled like Lush's Whipstick Lip Balm...chocolate, citrus and something spicy. Maybe spicier than Whipstick. Now its a nice mellow citrus, cocoa smell with a hint of the fig.
  25. ianastar

    Spooky

At first this all chocolate and mint...like an Andes Mint. As it dries down its this lovely warm vanilla sugar smell, with a minty kick behind it. Very interesting, I love it. Another sweet one from the lab that I can enjoy.
