  1. This is for the 2008 Ressurected scent.

In the bottle: Delicious! Very spicy, very snake oil-ish.

Wet on skin: Still spicy, dark coconut, resins, some incense.

Dry on skin: It has toned down, I smell dark red fruits and incense.

Finals Thoughts: Woah, sexy! I can smell the similarity to Snake Oil, but I think it's definately less bold and overwhelming than SO. I really love it and think I'll hoard one more bottle before it's gone..

  2. In the bottle: Lush, dark florals.

Wet on skin: Heavy, perfume feeling.

    Dry on skin: Sweet & heavy flowers. I wish I could identify the single notes, but my nose isn't good enough ;~;

Final thoughts: Lovely dramatic mix! It somehow reminds me of Faiza the Black Mamba, but sweeter. Not for my everyday wear, but still very nice.

  3. In the bottle: Delicious cocoa! The scent somehow reminds me of a chocolate cake mix :D

Wet on skin: This oil is dark! The two scents that I can detect are still the cocoa and the particular smell of Snake Oil.

Dry on skin: Still the same as the wet stage. I don't get any rice milk or teak...but it's still delicious!

Final thoughts: Snake Oil stuffed itself with dark chocolate! I'm usually not a foody scent kind of person, but this one is really nummy. It must be because I love Snake Oil :P Boomslang is a nice alternative to Snake Oil, and I think I'll get another bottle to see how it ages.

  4. In the bottle: Something in there reminds me of Midnight on the Midway, but less flowery. It's delicious, and incensy.

Wet on skin: Sweetness, frankincense, something herbal behind.

Dry on skin: Ahh, there's my beloved Snake Oil! It plays well with the other notes.

Final thoughts: Wow! This is definite love! I've tried many of the snakes, and this one rates on top, along with King Cobra. I'll need another bottle before the Carnival leaves! <3

  5. In the bottle: Sweet booze, fruits.

Wet on skin: Dried apricots and fruits, orange.

Dry on skin: Sweetness of the berries, patchouli.

Final thoughts: Beautiful fruity scent with dark undertones! I'm not one for fruity scents usually but this one strikes a favorable chord :P Yay Fortunato!

  6. This is for the 2007 version.

In the bottle: Rum! Sugar! Egg nog smells like egg nog :P

Wet on skin: Umm, not sure about this. The heavy cream is...heavy.

Dry on skin: It's milder now. It's sweet, vanilla-ish, and the rum is still present. I don't detect any nutmeg, but maybe that's just me.

Final thoughts: I'm happy I got my hands on a bottle! It's a delicious fragrance, not for everyday wear, but fall is coming rapidly and the weather is cooling down...I think I'll be using it quite a bit soon enough!

  7. In the bottle: Sharp, cold & crisp scent, tart green apples.

Wet on skin: Still apples, but toned down, with something fresh hiding behind.

Dry on skin: Less apples, very pretty scent, though I don't distinguish the ozone or the mint others seem to have.. It's got more of a 'perfume' feel after the original 'woah apples' scent leaves.

Final thoughts: Lovely! I don't usually go for fruity scents, something that this blend is, but not overly. I bought the set mainly for the book, as I wasn't expecting to like the scent, so I'm very pleased! :P

Edit to add: I got book 400/1000: I loved the story, the artwork is so beautiful...I'm so glad I got this set!

  8. In the bottle: Sweet pear and dark florals.

Wet on skin: Oh lush! The pear is still very present. It's still a very sweet smell on my skin.

Dry on skin: The sweetness dries down, I can smell the musk. It becomes something darker and creamier when the pear leaves. Lovely!

Final thoughts: I never was one for florals (though I love Midnight on the Midway), but this scent is marvelous! I wish I could recognize the flower notes better to find out exactly what I love about this scent. It's definately worth a second bottle!

  9. In the bottle: Red musk! And patchouli.

Wet on skin: Still red musk, patchouli and the bergamot (but it's faint).

Dry on skin: The lotus root, patchouli, flowers.

Final thoughts: I had originally bought this bottle because I'm crazy about red musk and bergamot, but the bergamot is very volatile in the mix and doesn't stick on me at all :P Marianne ends up smelling like flowers on me, which I don't dig that much. I'll let my bottle age and see..

  10. In the bottle: Very light, sweet-smelling, I smell a bit of pine.

Wet on skin: Still pine, along with sweet musk and vanilla.

Dry on skin: Smoky vanilla, musk, the sweetness dried down a bit.

Final thoughts: Oh my, this is delicious! Even though I find that it's a fairly light oil, the fragrance is just amazing! I'll need another bottle before the Carnival leaves..

  11. In the imp: Lemons!~

Wet on skin: Very much lemons still, flowers now.

Dry on skin: The lemons have calmed down and more florals came up. I can't distinguish them for now, but it's lovely :P

Final thoughts: I dig lemons muchly and really enjoyed the way this one morphed on my skin.

  12. In the imp: A spicier, drier version of Snake Oil.

Wet on skin: It's sweeter than in the bottle, "incensy", I can notice the vanilla in the Snake Oil.

Dry on skin: It's really delicious on my skin, as it morphed the same way that Snake Oil usually does, vanilla notes, spices..

Final thoughts: I really like both frankincense and Snake Oil, so this one's a keeper!

ETA: I had to come back to praise this one (and to correct a spelling mistake), who has a place in my top 5 of favorites! King Cobra is already in hoarding process in my perfume box and I have bottles who have been aging since last summer. It is that good of an oil and my favorite snake of the Pit! Aged, I find it drier & smokier and it clings closer to the skin than a fresh version.

  13. In the imp: Sweet, sweet musk, how I love you..

Wet on skin: I still smell a lot of the musk, the patchouli, it's sweet, not overly fruity. I love it!!

Dry on skin: The smell toned down after a while and the vanilla made an appearance. It lasted a while on me also, which is always appreciated.

Final thoughts: I sniffed it, tried it on and there was only love! :3 I kept smelling my arm all day, so I ordered a bottle of this a few hours after receiving my decant!! <3

  14. In the imp: Citrus, fresh, a bit green.

    Wet on skin: I can smell the citrus and the bergamot. It's kinda soapy though ;~;

Dry on skin: I can smell the florals more now, but it's getting too soapish for my tastes.

Final thoughts: I'm a bit disapointed since it turned to soap quite rapidly on my skin. I'll use it as a room scent though.

  15. In the imp: Pineapples! Fruits! Yay! :P

Wet on skin: Mmm, pineapples! Overwhelming juicy and sweet!

Dry on skin: The fruits calm down and the sugar cane and spices come out,

Final thoughts: So nice! I tend to lean towards the vanilla, musky, but this is such a nice scent, great for summer!

  16. In the imp: Hmm, I tend to go with bubble gum and I'm not sure I like it.

Wet on skin: The wine comes out, smells a bit floral also.

Dry on skin: The clove overcomes the wine and the floral, it's spicy and sweet.

Final thoughts: Nice scent, though I don't think it's for me.

  17. In the imp: Bitter grapefruit, lemons, all citrus.

Wet on skin: Still citrus, but I smell the tea also.

Dry on skin: Very nice, very light, it doesn't last long though.

Final thoughts: I like it a lot! It's loads of citrus, very fresh. A nice scent for the summer!

  18. In the imp: Juicy apricots!

Wet on skin: Still apricots, spicy.

Dry on skin: Same scent that's in the imps, but it doesn't last long on my skin however.

Final thoughts: I wouldn't wear this as a regular scent, but as a room scent it's exquisite!

  19. In the bottle: Overwhelming berries and neroli. I'm not sure I like it.

Wet on skin: The blend gets smokier, sweeter and heavier when applied. The berries become fainter.

Dry on skin: Vanilla and spicy sweetness.

Final thoughts: This oil is so different on my skin than in the bottle. It settles down and all I can smell is the vanilla and it's quite delicious! I don't smell any of the cardamom though, which was the original reason I chose this oil.

  20. In the bottle: Green, floral, wet. I can't pick up any exact notes, but I like it.

Wet on skin: I can smell the bergamot, ginger, and citrus.

Dry on skin: Sweeter and spicier than in the bottle, I like the lasting vanilla notes.

Final thoughts: It's very different on my skin than in the bottle, and quite pleasant and sensual.

  21. In the bottle: Snake oil, leather.

Wet on skin: Leather still, but very sweet, and a bit herbal. It's cowgirlish!

Dry on skin: The sandalwood comes out more, I can also smell vanilla and tonka. Hawt! :P

Final thoughts: Wow! Improved snake oil, with a hot cowboy twist. My favorite BPAL scent so far, so I'll definately order more bottles of this delicious snake before the Carnival goes away! <3

  22. In the imp: Sandalwood and rosewood, plus a fresh undertone.

Wet on skin: Sweet, but the bergamot is disturbing.

Dry on skin: It gets better with time, as the musk comes out.

Final thoughts: I really dig bergamot usually, but it adds a strange dimension to this scent. Fortunately, it doesn't last long and the scent that lingers is really pretty!

  23. In the imp: Black cherries, but spiced up.

Wet on skin: The patchouli and cardamom come out, the sweetness of the cherries lingers.

Dry on skin: Cherries and patchouli still, the spices mellows.

Final thoughts: After thinking "It's impossible that this blend is wrong for me" many times, I decided to purchase an aged bottle, since I had given away my decant. I finally was pleased with the results I had on that second try! To me, it smells similar to Alone on my skin, without the dark dirt note, but with cherries & red fruits instead. It's fun to layer!

  24. My first review!

In the imp: Ooo, myrrh and frankincense!

Wet on skin: Sweeter than in the bottle.

Dry on skin: The resin smell gets stronger, though it mellows with time.

Final thoughts: I got this as a freebie through a transaction with someone on the board and I'm quite happy since I wouldn't necessarely have bought it by myself. Not for everyday wear, but I like it!
