    Haute Macabre

I was really looking forward to this one, as I loved Banshee Beat but wanted something a little sexier. This did not disappoint! Definitely smelled the leather first and foremost, but it was less like DeSade and more like one of my absolute favorites...Hellfire! I was not expecting that, and it took me a little while to realize what scent this reminded me of. It has more staying power than Hellfire, which is a plus given how quickly it fades on me. The patchouli is not as prevalent as I thought, and I am hoping it turns up a little more as I wear it. This one is definitely a sultry, grown up scent. I am going to try and be patient, and not slather on more, as I want to see how it does over the next few hours. I cannot stop sniffing myself... may have to sneak some of this on the boy later.

    Hexennacht (2008)

in the bottle this smells like crisp fir trees, not as deep and dark as dracul or black forest, a higher and more refreshing sort of pine tree scent. wet i can begin to detect the metallic tinge of sweat. just a little, though... i was hoping for just a tad more amber and a lot more incense. when i read the description i was thinking this would be a slightly more femme version of fenris wolf which i love but have to fight with my husband over who gets to wear it. while it never gave me the smoky resolution i was hoping for, it does dry down into an unbelievably complex scent that stays strong for hours and hours. it never stops smelling like fir trees, but it becomes sweeter and some incense peeks though here and there after about an hour. i'll enjoy wearing this to bonfires this summer, but i don't feel as "witchy" as i had hoped to while wearing this one.

    Blood Kiss

in the bottle i smell chocolate and cherries. at first i was afraid this one might be too foody for me, but after applying it it really turned into something special. wet it was all honey with just a touch of cherry. after a few minutes the clove comes out along with a hint of musk, although to me the two are almost interchangable in this scent. just enough musky spice on the dry down turns this from sweet to sexy really quick. although it remains pretty much all honey, once it dries it becomes less like candy. almost like making the switch from the good old honey bear to a rich, thick raw honey. although it did not last as long as i hoped on my skin, i did notice it clings to whatever clothing i was wearing when i applied it...so no reapplication is needed! i put this on before bed one night and my pj's smelled delicious up until laundry day! another plus, my hubby finds this scent irresistable!! this is on the 5ml list for sure...

    Van Van

i purchased i full size bottle of Van Van at christmas time after carefully deliberating for days on which voodoo oil to get. the spirits must have guided my hand, because this is the one bpal oil i cannot live without. in the bottle it smells exotic yet familiar. the lemony smell others have described comes out in a very herbal sort of way to me. my sister has a bottle of lodestone oil she let me wear once, and this comes very close to that sweet vanilla liquor smell with a hint of something powerfully magical underneath. on me it becomes more of a musky vervain/vanilla. so far Van Van lasts longer than most of the other oils i have tried, combining with my own scent on the drydown to linger most of the day on clothes and underarms as a sweet yet slightly seductive scent. i have found that, magickally speaking, this oil becomes what i need it to. on tough work days just catching a whiff helps me relax and focus on clients, but if i intend for it to entice my man it seems to morph into some sort of crazy pheremone booster! this oil makes things happen, for sure!
