  1. Dark and mysterous.... Roses worn by the femm fatal of the movie. A tilted hat with lace veil 'pon the face wearing a long dress studded by sparkling stones, maybe crooning German lyrics to a song about falling in love- all takeing place during the late 1930's.

It was late. A Friday night with rain running in rivlets down the window frames. She came in without knocking. Just seeing her shape through the clouded glass door with my name, Sam Spaide PI, I knew I would be takeing her case. Even if it was closing time, and I needed that drink.

I was right. She walked in the office, distraught and all legs. Two things I love in a dame.

"Mr. Spaide, I have a case for you."

She spoke those words as she dropped a manilla folder on top of my desk. Other than the fancy script written on the folder, the thing which stood out the most was her scent. Roses. Not the sweet and innocent roses of childhood. Dark roses. Roses which real WOMEN wear just to give her the advantage to knock a man down and bend him to her will. Too powerful for any man to withstand. I certianly wouldn't struggle, unless this dame wanted me to....

Ok so I digressed into a little fantasy there forgive my little foibles. That's what Spellbound is all about. An old fashioned rose scent - NOT your grandmother's rosegarden, but the roses she smelled like when she was in her twenties. Roses crafted to give woman the advantage and power over whatever man her heart desired.

Spellbound is very strong, I'd definatly use it as a "going out to a fancy dinner, or fancy dance" type scent. NOT a clubbing one. I think Spellbound would take offence to be worn to something so unsophisticated... Think of this as divine flurtation at a state dinner. Or a formal dance's come hither stare.

Roses and slight musk, maybe? But the roses stick out the most. My mate did like this one, so I know it wasn't the ROSES in Whip that made him think of his sister. In fact, something in this rated a "woah" from him.

Attractive to men? I'm not certian.

This is a sweet scent which doesn't die eaisly. A full day of wear and Spellbound still is going strong on my skin. I do like it. *covets imp vial* I must wear it when I have my fancy occation and mate back to dance with.

  2. As wet undertow smells very minty and lotusish with the lightest touch of pine.

As I wear it, the mint melts away and lotus prevails. It's a very wet scent, powerful as well... Fortunatly unlike some of the other wet scents, Undertow stays strong and does not turn to soap upon my skin.

Throughout the day it stays true, lotus with the juniper behind. My mate identified it as "that sweet smell like that other time" and minty pine (aka Lotus and juniper) right off the bat. He liked it alot, as it was sweet but not TOO sweet.

Personally, I think Undertow is what happens when you mix Frost Moon and Blue Moon. Frost moon, but with toned down mint, and Blue Moon with added pine.

I really LOVE this one. It's so gorgeous, and since I'm wild about mint just works on me.

  3. Mmm...

Sweet and lillylike at first, strong but slowly cools off and backs down as it dries.

During one dry stage the salty aquotic notes were very prevolant. Sort of ocean-ish breeze on top of sweet lilly or maybe lotus?

By the end of the day, only a sweet and lingering warm scent remains. I can't really define it, just a glowing red sweet stage.

Not a bad scent. It's bright and noticable, without being obnoxious and screaming. I like this as a sweet oil!

  4. I'm agreeing with Macha -

Deciding to try Old Dublin was mostly to satisfy my curiousity to find out if Skadi smells similar....

Well, I don't really think it does.

    However,

    Dublin stands GORGEOUS in scent!!!!!

It's sweet, but not too sweet... Sort of a forest, but not the cold high pines of Skadi- Like a late spring walk in some hardwood forest. When wearing Dublin, the most noticable notes smelled something like either Chestnut trees or dogwood. Very green yet sweet notes.

I enjoyed wearing Old Dublin alot. =) Scadi is not similar on me at all to this, but either way a wonderful scent!

  5. Three Jacks was my scent of the day.

Kind of sad, I based the wanting to obtain this scent on the fact I really like the song "The Jack" by AC/DC.

Granted, I don't play cards very oftin, but who knows... maybe I'll pick up a winning lottery ticket.

    Onto the scent -

In the bottle and wet, it sort of has a slight bit of that punky scent I detected in Wolfsbane, but with a sweet undertone.

Murky, yet sweet. Some sort of swirling darkness to glitz and glam.

Wearing it I found Three Jacks was sort of heavier than I usually wear. The strong scent stayed, but decided to hide beneath a sweeter vanillaish (maybe) overtone. Nothing too sweet, the sharp tone was a constant reminder to look beneath the glitzy shine and deeper into the truth and corruption hideing nearby.

I could see myself running off to Vegas to win with this scent!

I also find AC/DC "The Jack" quite a good lyrical companion to this scent. I'm glad I have it onhand when I need some luck.

  6. Yuletide sort of reminds me of a yankee candle scent at first sniff... I think "Home For the Holidays" or something like that...

I donned a drop for work today.

What a warm scent! Where Scadi is holiday scent in a bottle complete with chill, Yuletide is Scadi minus the chill. Lots of the holiday spice, berries, and light pine touches.

This one makes me think of a warm winter night curled up reading a book as I baith in the warmpth of the Christmas tree's decorations and blinking colored lights.

I admit that I love the spices which come forward in this- cinimon primairly, as well as the rich berry scent. This lasted very well all day long. I probabily wouldn't wear it if I knew I was going to be in a small space, since I'm sure it could be overwhelming (at least on me). I love this for a room scent as well!!!

  7. From the bottle Wolfsbane smells a little punky... Sharp and I'm wondering if my imp went bad or something. (not rotten just... harshish...)

I took a chance and put it on, figured I could always snag a babywipe at work and remove it if necessary... WOW!

    Initial transformation:

The sharp stuff went away, and I got pine! Not gross fake pine-sol pine, but evergreens from the deep woods.

As the day goes by, I think I caught whiffs of a slight bit of citris (lemon?)... With a few herbs which show through during the day. I allmost think I can catch a whiff of marigold? Or it might be wolfsbane itself.... I've never smelled it.

Dispite the way it smells in the bottle, I REALLY like it. Alot. *curls around imp*

I don't know about wolfsbane blooming to show a werewolf is about, but I certianly won't let go of this scent anytime soon.

  8. Sweet... very sweet!

I'm not certian what sweet Snow White reminds me of. Just delicious, happy, light and wonderful.

Something underneath REALLY should be found in the Love Potions. I never pictured Snow White as a tartlet, but this scent really could drive people mad.

I wore this one to visit my mate. There was definate agreement on the above statement. He decided it amplified the "good enough to eat" scent that's allready on my skin. :P

    Men are so silly!

I really didn't know what to expect from Snow White, certianly not this degree of yum. I find some of the wearing similar to Blue Moon, but with more of a creamy tasty scent.

Either way- worth every penny paid!

  9. Not much leather here, at least that I can detect.

    Roses, glowing roses. =)

I am not gigantic on roses; however, this one is light enough that I don't entirely mind.

I can detect some note underneath, not spice, just something in the background hideing behind the roses.

The picture popping up in my mind:

Two dew covered roses laying on a shelf on a piece of brown suade. One thorn clearly has a drop of blood clinging to it, since whomever placed them down as an offering was not cautious enough to avoid the bite.

Delicate beauty, yet strong and protected of itself.

    Unfortunatly,

when worn to visit my mate, he said it smells like his sister!!!!!! *tweaks out* I guess she has some perfume which smells smiliar. :P

Oh well. I like it at least other than the sisterly comment!

  10. Wow! I totally spaced the fact Banshee was discontinued! *smacks self into releveance and gets on with review*

In the bottle Banshee smells very strongly of citris and eucalyptus... The mint gets a bit overrun by the eucalyptus to my nose.

For the first bit of wearing, drydown plus an hour or so, I smell very citrisish with a touch of the eucalyptus. It's rather strong, but I like it, as eucalyptus always makes me feel better and clears my head.

In the next few hours the piercing citris/eucalyptus disappears! It turns floralish! Not really rosey to my nose, but more of lilly of the valley. Sweet, delicate, yet STRONG. Not strong in a bad way, but totally unexpected.

I actully had a co worker ask me if I had CHANGED my perfume half way through the day. (nope no new ones in the mail today.)

    It's good.

Banshee's scream starts off piercingly loud with the strength of eucalyptus and citris, yet our senses grow accoustomed so she changes pitch and the florals begin to cover us just as a reminder she is not finished- there is much more to come from her voice!

  11. Oh wow!

It's very complex in the bottle...

The sweet notes come out to hit my nose, yet I can scent the undertones of frakensence which initially made me hesitate a little.

When wearing it wet I certianly could smell the myrr and frakensence. As it dryed off, the floral and sweet notes came out to play. Another interesting point for me: Normally the frankenscence and other spice type notes tend to dominate on my skin. Fortunatly as the day progressed, more and more floral (is it lotus? I can't quite tell other than it's nice and light and sweet) appeared.

It was not enough to twitch and hurt my nose. Just a sweet light scent to make me dream of lillies and flowers floating across the mirror surface of a calm river in the summer sun.

Not sure if I will buy a whole bottle, but this imp is certianly nice enough.

  12. This morning Havisham spoke to me, so I decided to give it a whirl.

Very cool florals in the bottle... possibly roses and lillies showing the most. I wasn't sure about wearing this one, since I'm not a floral person.

When on my wrist, gentle roses came out the most. Not old lady roses (which was my greatest worry -especially as a banker.... I experience more elderly perfume this way!), but light rosebuds on a sort of herbal background.

I can not quite place the background, not minty to me, but maybe sort of grassy... definatly the garden- especially after a slight cold snap in summer.

This one did last all day on me. Really made me ponder and wonder what is in the background of the roses... lillies maybe? I'm not totally sure even to this moment. Merigolds? Sort of... kinda....

Either way, I was glad it has a subtile dignity. Quite yet powerful. A scent to wear, that does not scream to be noticed, but lightly whispers in your ear- its breath tickleing you and sending shivers down your spine.

I see why so many people desperatly seek this one out.

  13. Leather and smokey scent totally dominated me today at first swipe.

In a nicer way as the day goes on the rum and pineapple starts to ooze out. By evening, it's a nice and sweet tropical scent- makeing me jelious and wishing to head out in search of pina coloda fix'ins.

The boi liked it. He commented half way through visits that, "Hey hun... you smell differnt all of a sudden.... Sweeter and stuff" He said he liked the leather and smoke at first, but the sweeter was a nice surprise. (yeah er he got me a little worked up just from chatting and nice scritchies on my neck.)

Claiming the name is QUITE fitting for me, and I DO believe the overall scent had some effects upon him, it was an overall hit.

However, it makes me want to go and purchase EVERY Lip-Service outfit I want from their website. Especially those for men. *drool* My mate in bondage pants... black vinal... ooo....

  14. Midwinter's Eve makes me think of being a little kid again and drinking SOME sort of juice thing (I think a Kool-Aide flavor). I'm getting ready to run out to the grocery store and purchase EVERY varity of Red Kool-Aide to figure out which one it smells like so I can make a jug of it and drink it.

I LOVE the scent. It's sweet, berryish, frutie... light, but not too light. I really want to drink the bottle. At work I licked my wrist, but alas- no flavor.

    On to more normal review:

The nice sweet fruit smell stays very true on my skin. Even after drydown and 7ish hours it smells allmost liquid to me. One wrist has a touch more of a spice scent (not sure if prior days have stuck to my watch band on that wrist tho). But my unadulterated right wrist only has that wonderfully vibrent RED smell.

Under the fruit juice I detect something similar to one of the Yankee Candle scents (again one of the holiday RED ones). Maybe a hollyberry?

I honestly like this one alot. It's a very vibrent scent that stays lively all day long!

  15. As I wore Dia, it ended up being on the sweet side with insence...

In the bottle I thought it was more of a cross between apple and maple sugar...

I definatly smelled the sweet candy scents for most of the day, when I headed outside for lunch the smoke wafted out. Very intersting!

Finally it has calmed down to an insence-crossed with sweet fruitish sugar smelling notes.

It's like the scent could not make up its mind on how it wanted to act on my skin. I was fascinated by the different notes that kept comeing out.

Fun! I think I'd wear it more on days I'm outside, since I'm not much of an insence person. I like the other sweet notes tho.

  16. My scent of the day: Juliet

Well, it's a very feminine scent with plenty of floral notes. It dried down to a soft and pleasent flower smell. Throughout the day Juliet would get occationally get stronger and then quiet down a bit too. I think the lilly and sweetpea were the strongest notes to show up.

Overally it's ok on me. I'm glad to have an imp. Personally, I would only wear it on occation, as it's a little too much of a sweet little girl for me. I'm less of Juliet's innocence and more of Beatrice cynical nature from "Much Ado About Nothing."

It is a nice little scent to have on occation, when I dress up in the summertime with a flowing floral skirt. Just not quite the scent to wear even when in a normal kick ass and take numbers mood. I'd imagine it's a good scent for being a bridesmaid in a summer wedding (prolly what I WILL wear to my friend's wedding this Aug); however, with my personality, NOT what I'd wear to be a bride.

Pretty and delicate with staying power as well. Just not quite what I was entirely in the mood for today. My bad.

  17. :P

Thanks to Astrid who imped me of Blue Moon!

In the bottle Blue Moon smells yummy enough, but once on it brings out the undertones. Sweetness and gorgeous. Some floral, but nice and sweet like summer berries of some sort.

Wearing this makes me envision walking in the evening as lightning bugs light up the sky around.

As I wear it, Blue Moon sweetens a bit, like Jailbait, sort of showing some sort of similar undertone note. (NOT at all bubblegum scented, don't read that into it... just something beneath it. Darker, nightime type scent)

I really LOVE this one, and agree with people that Frost Moon is quite similar, but with mint added. It's elegant, light yet noticeable. I was sniffing my wrists all day long. =)

  18. Oh wow..

If I could BAITH in a scent, I believe it would be Jailbait...

I have always loved bubblegum and cotton candy. This is THE ultimate bubblegum scent. Placeing it on, it definatly screams bubblegum; mental images are a gigantic pink bubble being blown and the very fresh piece of bubble gum in your mouth, just after you have put it in and chewed it enough to be soft yet still powerfully flavorful.

As it lasts on my skin it holds bubblegum as the main scent, there's soemthing else underneath too- something giving strength. I'm getting such the bad school girl image from it. Short skirt sneaking out behind the bowling alley to get laid type thing.... (Think scene from Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman in the story Rage when the girl whose name I have forgotton retells her sexual experiences to the other hostages)

Jailbait simmers down after a while to a pleasnt sweet cotton candy scent with some sort of little spice snap behind it (very subtile).

I wore it to visits at the prison today when I saw my mate. He liked it, but didn't see quite as much humor in me wearing it to visits as I did... He tends to like sweet scents as well.

    So:

Beth- Can the lab make Jailbait flavored soda? I'd buy it by the CASE! (I do know about blue bubblegum by Jones soda... but I want PINK bubble gum just as this smells in soda form!!!!!)

I MUST purchase a 5ml, heck, with the way I'd love to baith in this I would NOT be adverse to a 10ml.

    Definatly one of my faves.

  19. Wow!!!

    What a great find!

The sharp pepper predominates my imp... I was a little worried I'd smell funny with it on, but decided what the hey!

The spicey pepper scent died down on my wrist, leading to a lovely clove linger. Cinnamoney spice is the next note to stick out on my skin. What a nice warm oil!

The cinnamon stayed most of the day, by now (aprox 12 hours later) it has turned to a nice spicy sweet scent. Sort of like a fireball but not so fake candy-ish.

    :P

    I highly reccommend this one!

  20. I'm SO glad I have this one! Worth every hard earned penny!

Gorgeously sweet, like cooking, almonds and vanilla predominate the scent as it's wet.

As I wear it I can smell all sorts of other bakeing goodness appear- berries, cinnamon, cherries... Oh what a happy scent! Every time it switches to another note (berries to cherries to almond to vanilla to just cooking desserts in general) it's a new wonder!

This is one of those bottles I would seriously DIE if I lost!

    :P

Another I'd LOVE to drink. Why can't anything taste as good as BPAL smells!?

  21. My VERY first BPAL oil ever tried!

From this moment forth I was hooked.

I read the description of Hunter Moon, and NEEDED to buy it. Not wanted, but NEEDED. (I'm sort of a huntriss type and it just sounded so much like me...)

Sweet scented in the bottle, I think the wine is mostly what I catch, occationally I catch a note of woodsmoke too..

Worn it brings out a scent of spiced apple cider, woodstoves, and fall weather. I compair it to the open house days at little country gift shops when they serve the spiced cider and cookies.

It's not strong enough to make me reek of potpourie, but strong enough to be pleasent and fall spicey. I do like it! I loved it enough to end up with two bottles. Then again, I won't mind it being a signature scent, since I am a fall weather person and LOVE the spices.

I don't really notice the animalistic tones in this. Maybe they just blend in, or didn't feel like peeking at me in the couple times I've worn it so far. I also like its staying power. All day without having to slather!
