  1. Sweet patchouli and cola-smelling labdanum, and then a sweet almost fruit honey note.  With just a hint of earthy vetiver.  I’m not getting “dark” or “blackened” -- to me this is flirty and sexy.  I like this soooo much. It’s nice and strong and I love smelling like sweet resins and honey!

  2. I was afraid of the dry grass note, that is would be really strong and make me sneeze.  But, it’s barely noticeable.  This scent is both clean (in a laundry soap/baby powder way) and honey-sweet.  It’s like how a little baby would smell after a bath.  I’m not getting any berry or moss.  Just clean bebe.

  3. I’m not sure what makes an “aldehyde” but apparently they are like “rocket fuel” that adds fizz and effervescence. Cool.  This scent is indeed fizzy.  Clean, bright, sparkly.  I mostly smell champaca blossom.  No patchouli.  A feminine floral blend, feels classic and gorgeous.

  4. When Beth says honeyed patchouli, she really means honeyed.  The honey is the first thing that hits my nose.  The patchouli is sweet and almost delicate.  The beeswax has a way of muting the other notes for me, and that’s totally happening here.  Sweet, light, exotic -- reminds me of Morocco (could also be the saffron!).  Not super strong but this may be an old decant I’m testing so it might have faded.

  5. Dark, spicy, spooky. Myrrh is the dominant note, but the dragon’s blood is also strong, entwining with the myrrh, what a pair! The dragon’s blood is sweet, earthy, which suits the dry, sharp myrrh.  It’s not a super bold scent, it’s close to the skin.  I’m not picking out any lemongrass at all, but that’s OK. Happy to have a bottle!

  6. I’m not sure if there has been another mainly ylang ylang/vanilla scent? I’m sure there has but it’s not coming to mind.  I do love vanilla/sugared florals!! The buttery vanilla perfectly cuts the sharpness of the ylang ylang and lets it sweet, spicy loveliness shine. I’m not really picking out any carnation.  But I think this is my favorite ylang ylang scent now!  Also, there’s a note that sorta smells like weed -- just making note so I don't wear it work lol!

  7. An elegant, smooth patchouli.  Not the hippie kind.  Is that what aging it 11 years does?  It’s all grown up now.  I’m also getting the blood musk note, but it’s not overpowering, like it sometimes can be.  I’m not really sure what “velvet” oud is, and I’m not picking up any fig.  Also, I’m not sure what unconscious association I have with this scent, but I know I have one and it’s a positive one.

  8. Guava, yum!  I’m not sure I can recall trying any other guava blends  It’s so real -- juicy, tangy, sweet.  The creamy strawberry milk is such a genius pairing. The guava brings out the tartness of the strawberry, but then the sweet creaminess smoothes everything out -- gorgeous, might need a bottle!

  9. Love at first sniff!!  Beautiful oakwood note, all warm and woodsy, sweetened by vanilla. I adore the lab’s oak  I wouldn’t call this blend foodie -- the wood is definitely the prominent note.  Plus, my 12-year-old thinks the name is cool.

  10. Lavender-infused vanilla cupcakes!  I think out of all the foodie Liliths this year, I prefer Metal Twins over this one, which is a bit more “Eat Me”, that is, it has a weird Fruity Pebbles vibe on my skin.  I might try it as a sleep blend though, focusing more on the lavender than the vanilla and cake.

  11. I’m not sure about some of the notes listed -- “white chypre”, “cashmere amber”  My skin usually loves and amps chypres -- this one’s no exception. It smells classy, expensive. Orris is sometimes dryyyy as heck on me, but maybe the fact that this is orris butter makes the difference because it’s quite nice.  There’s a sweet floral note enveloped in layers of warmth. I’m not getting any patchouli.  This scent is like putting on a lux, warm white bathrobe.

  12. My immediate favorite of all the amazing 2020 Liliths. I’m a sucker for anything with cream or vanilla! It’s very sweet. The buttery, slightly smoky caramel note is lovely (fans of Red Lantern, take note)  But there’s also a cleanness to Aoedae, like fizzy water. In that way it reminds me of a cream soda. I’m not picking up the sandalwood.  If you’re a foodie looking for a cream caramel scent, here’s your chance! Bottle for me.

  13. I thought this one might be similar to Stinky, soft and baby powdery This one is all honey, though. Like really sticky, lush honey, with an herbal note from the lavender. I’m not noticing any patchouli, nor the Frito chip smell of puppy paws :) Just straight up lavender honey It’ll make a nice bedtime scent.

  14. CHERRY BOMB! My skin loves and amps chypres. I don’t think I’d actually wear this, but it’s so fun. I love cherry Chapstick, black cherry candles, cherry is a nostalgic scent for me. This makes me wanna put on lip gloss and go roller skating. This scent is juicy, bursting with fruitiness, but also has a waxy, creamy element. After it dries down, on second thought, I might wear it, since it’s now gotten subtler and creamier

  15. More gingerbread waffle than pumpkin, although the pumpkin is there. The coffee tones down the spiciness of the gingerbread (I’ve tried other gingerbread blends that were too spicy) I’m not really getting hot cocoa, just the waffles and smooth coffee with plenty of cream. This is like building the perfect bite at brunch...it’s all there! Might need a bottle!

  16. Apricot is a beautiful note. It can be cheerful and playful, but here it’s playing at being proper and sedate, thanks to the serene lavender note. But then, you get a bright little burst of blood orange that makes it cheeky. I’m picturing an elegant, poised Countess who secretly has the raunchiest sense of humor behind closed doors.

  17. This is a decant from 2015, and the scent is faint. I’m getting leather and almond. The leather is the strongest note; the almond is subtle, coming and going  I can’t pick out any of the other good stuff like vanilla, tonka, or amber.  At this point in the aging, it seems like a straightforward leather scent, not nuanced as I’m sure it must have been when made.

  18. My decant is pretty aged, from 2014 I believe. So the scent is quite faint, but I’m getting a pretty blend of pine and clove. Not very dark or deathly at all, Gacela is surprisingly cheery and cozy I’d love to see it return so I could experience it in its fresh newness, cause I bet it’s lovely.

  19. Now this is from 2015 so it’s quite aged, and the scent is faint. I’m having trouble picking out the notes listed. On me this smells like...weed. I guess that’s the combo of the tobacco and maybe the mugwort, really no clue. I’m not getting any spicy opium nor any florals. Just kind of spicy weed.
