  1. I tried this twice and did not like it at all - too dry and powdery, like old lady perfume. But I applied it again today, wanting to write a review, and to my surprise it smelled quite different! Very wet and fruity this time, so I like it much better. I agree with the other reviews that say it is "purple". Sniffing my wrists is like burying my nose in a bunch of fresh, rain covered violets. This would be lovely for a fancy dinner or any formal, dress-up occasion.

  2. To me, this is a sad but dignified scent. It smells of old dirt and grass, like from an ancient crypt. There's also the faint scent of dry flowers left at a grave long ago, so old they would fall apart at the slighest touch. I also smell tart red wine in the background.

At first, the dirt smell was almost too much. It made me feel sad actually! So I didn't want to wear it and make people around me feel sad. But after fifteen minutes, the flowers and wine came out more (especially the wine) and balanced the dirt smell, and then I liked it. I would wear this whenever I'm in a serious, solemn mood.

  3. The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood.

at first this smells like burnt chocolate. when it dries, the burning smell goes away and then it's like a bitter dark chocolate mixed with fruity red wine. in the background there's a slight metallic, iron-y smell that could be blood. this scent lasted for hours and remained consistent until i washed it off. i think this is a great winter perfume, very warm and comforting.

  4. I love woodsy, earthy scents so I was very excited to try this. It smells strongly of pine, but not in a crisp, cold way. It's surprisingly warm and mellow. There's also something that smells kind of like...sweat? But in a good way! Maybe that's the musk? It makes me think of forest beasts running after their prey. After it dries, the sweetness of the amber comes out more, and that's very nice too as it mixes with the warm pine notes. Wow, I'm really glad there is a perfume that smells like this :P

  5. I didn't get any of the wood or smoke other reviews alluded to. On my skin this smelled strongly of dried flowers, particularly lilacs. Very "Victorian" - flowery and restrained. But it also smells kind of...ominous, or haunted? It's not just sweet and nice, there's something else there. I didn't immediately go wild for it, but I do like it and find it interesting. This imp will probably be used up very quickly as I keep reapplying it and sniffing it to try and figure out this complex scent.

  6. In the bottle, this smelled so wonderful. Minty, metallic, invigorating. It stayed that way for about two minutes after I applied it to my skin. Then, sadly, it turned flowery, powdery and old lady-ish. I washed it off and tried it again later but the same reaction occurred. The minty scent that is so strong in the bottle completely disappears on me, so I guess I will try to swap it out for something that agrees with my body chemistry.

  7. On me this smelled slightly sweet, like honey. Also, it faded quickly and I had to apply more than I usually would; it's not a strong scent. I'm not a big fan of florals, but I like this one OK because it's very clean and delicate.

  8. Fresh, clean and crisp. Definitely aquatic, reminds me of Yankee Candle's Ocean Water, or the smell in the air when you go outside during a summer storm. I'd love it if my sheets smelled like this. It's a little too masculine for me - but I'll ask my husband to try it on, I think it would smell great on him.

  9. mmmm. my favorite oil so far. i applied it and immediately thought, "wow, it does smell like sex!" like when you've had a lot of sex and there's this sweet smell in the air and on your skin. :P after several hours, it faded to a gentle honey scent (my husband felt that it smelled more like baby powder, however).

  10. This had a very strong, sharp, kind of unpleasant lemony smell when I first put it on. As it dried, I began to smell the thyme and nutmeg. After awhile, it mellowed and became more pleasant. I thought it would become more woodsy, but no - it's still extremely lemony on me, in a medicinal kind of way. It's nice, but it's not really me.

  11. i loved this. it immediately brought to mind the long-forgotten smell of some incense that my grandmother used to have. i guess that's the myrrh. i could also faintly smell red wine in the background, but really, the myrrh was what stood out above all else. sweet and calming, but also mysterious.

  12. this came in a lot of imps i bought on ebay, and i hesitated to try it because i've always been wary of "girly," powdery fragrances. it definitely IS powdery, and sweet and flowery, but in the BEST way. it's not a strong, overwhelming floral scent, but rather very gentle and very calming.

  13. this is the first bpal perfume i've tried, and my first review...

when i first applied succubus, it smelled very strongly of oranges and sort of like pine, as well. the pine quickly faded and the orange smell grew more sweet and powdery. now, hours later, my wrists still smell like oranges and sugar. it reminds me very much of lush's christmas party ballistic - it's got that same very strong, almost harsh orange scent at first, that fades into a sweeter version of itself.
