  1. this is a more everyday, wearable church scent than cathedral. it has that dry, incense smell of a church, thanks to the frankincense i guess. but there's also a very clean, green, slightly soapy smell. it's like a church that's just undergone spring cleaning, full of flowers and plants, with all its doors thrown open to let in the fresh air.

  2. Bast, Ubasti, Ailuros, Ba-en-Aset. Represented as both a domestic cat and a fierce lioness, she truly evidences traits of both. She is the Mother of All Cats, Goddess of Sensuality, Fertility, and a guardian and protector of women. She is also one of the Eyes of Ra, and in that aspect is an Avenging Goddess, seeking retribution and punishing enemies of her people. Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus.

i love amber so this scent is perfect for me. when i first applied it, it smelled like almonds. but soon the amber came out, along with lotus and saffron. i wish it were a little stronger on me -- i have to apply more than usual. warm, sweet, feminine, refined.

  3. i wish i could drink this. it's buttery and warm. i can smell the slight spiciness of the rum, but the coconut is what really shines here. very strong raw coconut scent at first, becomes more sweet and delicate as it dries.

  4. Named after the primordial ocean of milk where Lord Vishnu reclines upon the thousand-headed Naga. Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia.

    wow. love this.

milky, sugary, ginger-y. just the right combination of creamy, sweet, spicy at first, and then it fades to slightly sweet, slightly soapy, very clean. not getting any of the lemon mentioned in other reviews (which is good, cause i don't do well with citrus scents).

  5. i got this along with brimstone and they are similar, but djinn has a much more sharp, acrid tinge to it. it never really mellows out, but stays kind of bitter until i wash it off, on me anyhow. it's not burning wood, but burning metal, maybe. too sharp and masculine for me.

  6. what an odd scent but i think i like it! in the bottle it is so strong and reminds me of a campfire. there's a sweet, wood smell mixed in with the smokiness. on my skin it smells more like the campfire's aftermath or the ashes left in a fireplace.

i think there's also a hint of medicinal smell, kind of like the way band-aids smell?

my husband chimes in that it's what a haunted house would smell like. it's like something eerie dangerous has been in the room and left its scent but is now gone.

  7. in the bottle i get dark cherries, black licorice, tobacco smoke, lemons, and some kind of sweet candy smell. the overall impression i get is sweetly alluring but with something unknowable and sinister going on underneath.

unfortunately, on me it goes all lemon. citrusy scents and me don't mix. i'd almost keep this just so i could keep sniffing it in the bottle.

  8. this is really interesting. i love amber, and it's strong here. there's pine, spices that remind me of incense, and full, fruity but not overly sweet berries. all of these different things swirl over each other. on first sniff the spices are strongest. then i get a whiff of amber. next, the pine reveals itself. then i get a mixture of berries and amber. what a great, complex mixture.

  9. this wasn't very strong on me. i had to re-apply it to get a good idea of what it smelled like. it's like a mixture of nag champa and roses. powdery and smoky, very subtle and understated.

  10. at first it smells very strongly of lime, but you can tell that it's not pure lime, there's also something else in the background that makes it seem kind of dark and mysterious. then the citrus fades and what's left is a very delicate lilac. i do like it, but citrus is always so overpowering on my skin, so i don't know if i'll wear it that much.

  11. sandalwood and florals definitely. but i'm also smelling stuff that i don't think is really there, like coconut at first, and lemon later on. i think this is perfect for a really sophisticated, classy, elegant kind of woman. that's not me, but it's still a nice scent.

  12. this is sweet, tangy and sour, like overripe fruit. i was worried that it might be too much, but when it dries it's just right. the clean herbal scent of bay keeps it from becoming too cloying. i can just barely pick out the incense in the background. to me this scent is the "reverse" of athens, in which the incense smell is very strong and the wine and honey are faint.

  13. i really liked this to begin with. then i went to a catholic church and i thought, wow, cathedral is right on the money. it captures the wood and marble, the incense hanging in the air, and something else, like the smell of old books. i love it because it's so exact. it REALLY smells like a church.

  14. i had a weird reaction with this one. in the bottle it smelled minty and aquatic. but when i applied it, no joke, it smelled like cherry kool-aid. then as it dried, it started to smell like a pina colada. it made me feel slightly ill so i washed it off. way too fruity and sweet on my skin.

  15. this is really layered. first i get a kind of wet, earthy, mildew smell. like sniffing a tree with moss growing on it, after it's rained. then i get more of a shoe leather smell. then after awhile, i am surprised by a nice, sweet smell emerging that reminds me of baking pies. that's probably the clove. there's still a hint of the other stuff in the background but the sweetness becomes very strong and sticks around for a long time.

  16. in the vial this smells like some kind of furniture cleaner. as it dries, it smells exactly like polo cologne. a clean, masculine scent. after about 1/2 hour, it's like laying on dry grass on a scorching hot summer day.

  17. in the bottle this smells like mahogany wood and cherry cough syrup. when i put it on the mahogany goes away and the cherry gets stronger. it's kind of medicinal but not in a harsh way. it's sweet and sort of comforting. this is a keeper for me.
