  1. Dead Man's Hand:

As everyone has said, this is pure leather and it reminds me of the Wilson's store that used to be in the mall. There's a rougher element underneath though which gives it more of a rawhide scent than a black leather jacket scent. I would sum this up as dirty and interesting.

  2. Dorian

Inspired by and created for my beloved Tedwin: my eternal, beautiful, wicked Dorian Gray. Refined, elegant, and lovely, with a noble bearing and seemingly gentle air. This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.

In the bottle - this is sweet much; more so than I thought it would be - the vanilla jumps out and masks any other notes.

Upon initial application it gets even sweeter and now reminds me of buttercream icing. Not quite the sex fragrance I had in mind :P

After a bit the vanilla calms down and there's a hint of tea and a tiny little sliver of lemon. This is soft and creamy and has quite a lot of staying power but definitely not what I was expecting. I like it though and will reserve is for occasions when I want to smell sweet and dainty.

  3. Hetairae

Ahh, this is such a beautiful mixture of smells. This isn't green or dandelion to me but rather a spicy incense with a faint touch of sweetness. No one note takes over but the patchouli, honey, and ylang ylang are the most prominent. This pairs very well with Lush's Figs and Leaves soap that I used this morning. A definite keeper :P

  4. Blood Lotus - this is a red, voluptuous, juicy, sweet floral. On my skin it's not candylike and the fruity aspect is tempered by the lotus and it is simply wonderful and quite perfect for this lovely spring day. A very uplifting scent and one that I'm glad I rediscovered :P

  5. Morgause - in the bottle all I get it a deep floral.

After applying I get an immediate impression of dusky purpleness. This is not a meek floral, it is very powerful and seductive. A bit later there's an impression of something fruity but I can't quite figure out what it could be - not plums or grapes but I'm drawing a blank on what other kinds of purple fruit there are :P An hour later I can smell the incense and it blends so well with the florals. I really like this so I may have to get a big bottle.

  6. Antique Lace - in the bottle this is soft and sweet vanilla.

Once on the sweet vanilla scent softens even more and has a faint powdery overtone. I really get the sense of old handmade lace found in a trunk that has been packed away and yellowed with time. There isn't much floral that I can detect but this isn't just a plain vanilla so I'm thinking there are other notes that are muted yet compliment the main vanilla note and give it a light loveliness. Very glad that I purchased a bottle of this.

  7. Spooky - first impression, wow this is really boozy like some sort of minty chocolate liqueur. Hard to believe it won't taste as good as it smells.

Once on I can smell the coconut now, more than the mint and chocolate though they are still very prominent. I like the mint in this and I'm a little suprised because most mints are too sweet on me but this blends well with the other notes - I get the impression of a big mug of hot cocoa with a peppermint stick. After a bit the coconut really takes over and now I'm reminded of this tanning oil I had when I used to actually lay out in the sun and try to get tan - delicious :D (not the tanning, the smell of the oil :D ) I'm glad this came back for a cameo appearance :P

  8. Gluttony - in the vial, wow this is pretty sweet and it reminds me of Grog with the butteryness (but minus the booze)

Once on - wow I smell sweet rich pralines and they smell sooooo good! This is really sweet but for me it's a very wearable sweet. Not too cloying just delicious. It does have that indulgent feel as in "yeah I just ate a whole box of Godiva chocolates- so what?" It's indolent, decadent and wonderful. Buttery hot brown sugar :P

A big bottle is on the list.

  9. Tee Pumpkin King is a lovely muted fall scent. It's much more subdude than Samhain or Jack but still the very essence of a quiet autumn evening.

In the vial theres a mixture of woodsy and sweet - not sugary sweet but rather more apple cider sweet. Once on the dry leafy wood scent mingles with the apple cider and there's a little hint of spice underneath. I'm not getting much more than a hint of pumpkin. After a few hours the scent has shifted slightly and it almost reminds me of an elegant men's cologne of sorts but not in an overbearing perfumy way. This is very very nice and I do hope that Beth decides to release this soon :P

  10. Verdandi is a beautiful scent. While it shares a similar apple note with the Hespirides, Verdandi is warm and spicy whereas the Hespirides is cool and crisp. The black amber and the herbs temper the apple so it's not too sweet. This is a delicious, seductive oil and quite perfect for the beginning of fall - though that won't stop me from wearing it now :P

I'm very glad I have a big bottle on order.

  11. Coyote - in the vial I can smell dust and a bit of an ozone note.

Once one, the dusty scent is very prominent and I rather get the impression of a windy storm off in the distance kicking up debris on a hot summer afternoon. It's interesting but I'm not sure it's really me.

After a few minutes my eyes are watering and the oil has morphed into an overpowering men's cologne. I don't know what is reacting so strongly - I detect a bit of amber but it's not the same warm golden scent I usually get. I think this is one for the swap pile.

  12. Urd

Urd - in the bottle I don't get much of an impression. It's not sweet or floral, it just...is.

Once on I can smell the Nag Champa and an earthy fresh soil kind of scent. Very different than what I could smell in the bottle but I like it. After about an hour the earthiness is gone and has been replaced by something warm, red patchouli perhaps? It pairs well with the Nag Champa and underneath both I get traces of sweetness. Until I started wearing BPAL I wouldn't go near anything with patchouli in it but Beth's patchouli blends are just so wonderful and complex. Urd is another stunning accomplishment :P

  13. My wedding is in October too and I still haven't figured out which scent I'd like to wear. Velvet and Jack are two of my favorite comfort scents but I'm not sure if they match the occasion. (It also sounds like we have similar gown ideas - mine is somewhat Art Deco inspired). If you're looking for a soft floral you might want to try Dragon's Bone, Belle Epoque, or Eos. White Rabbit or Sudha Segara might be good too.

  14. Skuld - fist sniff, mmmmm it's all honey :P

Once on the scent becomes quite prominent with the honey dominating the other notes. After about an hour or so the honey tones down and the ylang ylang comes out. Musks keep this from becoming too sweet and lend the oil an exotic air. Something in this blend reminds me a bit of Jezebel but I like Skuld better. This is a delicious oil and I'm glad I bought a big bottle.

  15. Medea - in the bottle and upon drydown I can't pick out any single notes but this is dusky, smokey, sensual loveliness. There's a little bit of sweetness buried under the darkness and it adds a bit of complexity to this wonderful oil. I love, love, love this!

  16. Libra - I bought this because it's my bf's sign so I thought it would be a nice companion to mine (which is Leo)

In the bottle it smells a bit citrusy - maybe some floral mixed in.

Once on - very lemony! Now that I see what notes are in this I'm surpised since I don't see lemon or anything citrus listed. I usually don't like lemon in a perfume but this is nice - I'm not getting that lemon pledge scent that normally happens so this is probably my nose being weird. After about an hour the lemon fades and something sweet emerges - sandalwood and flowers. It's not rose to me and I have no idea what rose geranium smell like but it's very pretty. Definitely not a scent I would have bought based on the notes listed but it turned out very nice. I may try layering it with Leo.

  17. Belle Epoque - I admit that I bought this mostly for the name. It's my favorite period for art and design so it immediately piqued my interest. In the bottle it's a light sweet floral and no specific notes stand out.

Once on, it's very soft and a bit powdery. I'm mostly smelling a mixture of vanilla and sandalwood and maybe a hint of lily. Something gives it an exotic edge, a whisper of decadance, the opium maybe? It's all quite lovely and I'm glad I decided to buy a big bottle of this.

  18. Mabon has been sitting in my box ever since it arrived several months ago. I tried it once and while it was nice, it didn't seem to stand out to me at the time. I decided to give it another try after I couldn't quite figure out what kind of perfume mood I was in today.

This is the perfect thing to wear when the weather is cold and there's snow on the ground. Winter brings me down and this lifted my spirits with its lush fall boquet. I don't notice the blackberry wine or apple cider much though I suspect they give the light apple blossom and woodiness an undercurrent of faint sweetness that makes this such a delicious scent. It's crunchy leaves, acorns, earth, and fruit all mixed up together in a wonderful warmth.

I'm very glad I rediscovered this today :P

  19. Centzon Totochtin

In the bottle - red wine, almost overpowering with a tinge of dark chocolate.

Once on, mmm the chocolate is more prominent and there's a little hint of coffee. It reminds me a bit of Mata Hari without the florals and, as other mentioned, Kali. After a few hours the red wine, chocolate, and coffee notes have blended together to create a lush, heady perfume. This is a fabulous oil and I think it may be one of my top ten :P

  20. I was intrigued by the Caterpillar but the vetiver and patchouli notes made me a bit hesitant. I thought it might be too heavy but I was quite wrong.

In the vial it's a very earthr sort of scent - kinda reminds me of this head shop that used to be in town where the guy behind the counter would smoke cigars and burn incense.

Once on....mmm this is a really interesting scent. It's a cross between dark soil, smoke, and flowers. It's sultry and indolent. I can see the hippie quality to it but it's much more sophisticated. I'm suprised at how much I like this - and I will be getting a big bottle for sure.
