  1. I love linden blossom, but I can't smell it. This is pure laundry soap. A nice laundry soap - but I use unscented laundry soap for a reason, so this won't be an upgrade for me.

  2. Uncle Traveling Matt just broke my heart. I don't smell any of the notes listed, just a horrible high pitched sweet tart fruity smell. The same screeching high fruit note that ruined Sprinklecake. No chocolate, no pear, nothing but Sweet Tarts candy.

  3. Yggdrasil maybe? The description is "The World Ash. Nine woods, nine leaves, and three herbs each for Ratatosk and Vidofnir, with three final herbs to placate Nidhogg."

I just retested it and it's a bit menthol when you first put it on, but it seems to be settle into a nice woody scent after 15 minutes or so.

My husband wears both Dee and Antikythera Mechanism regularly so it's a bit strange to switch gears and think of something a guy might like that isn't like those.

  4. Casting a fishing net.

Purple sage and oakmoss with black and white musks.

This is easily my favorite of the Tanukis I have tried. That being said it is also the hardest for me to describe. The black musk is beautiful and very like the black musk in Playful Wooden Mallets. Overall the scent is gentle and very pretty. My husband loves it on me and he's usually fairly ambivalent about scents.

  5. Oh how I wanted to love this one. I love it in the vial, I love it on my skin, I love it drying on my skin...

and then it vanishes. I have never had a scent so completely disappear on me before. Usually there is at least a wiff of something remaining even if most of the scent is gone. There is nothing left of this one. Within an hour you can't tell that I was ever wearing perfume. I've actually tried it about half a dozen times now just because the disappearing act is so uncanny.

While it lasts though it is a lovely, spicy, furry scent. The anise is warm and cuddly and I don't even like anise.

  6. MELON melon melon melon melon melon..... Ripe, sticky with honey, and much more like melon candy than actually honeydew melon. This is very similar to The Vine, if perhaps even sweeter.

This is a fun scent, but I don't know if I could actually wear it. I think in larger quantities than the single dot I put on it would become cloying. It's still screaming melon and I put it on an hour ago.

  7. Love, love, love this! I almost didn't get it because of all the flowers. I'm so glad I did! I don't get flowers from this, but I know they are there because it makes the blend have a beautiful springy tone. Mostly I get a blast of white chocolate covered strawberries, followed by pure ripe strawberry on the dry down.

  8. I wasn't interested in this at first, but I ordered it on the strength of the reviews. I am sooo glad that I did! This is gorgeous! Sweet and woody - I don't know if I would have been able to tell there was cinnamon in this is I didn't know the notes.

The only downside for me is that it has almost no throw.

  9. Hello all...so, hope this is a good place for this, but I got my bottle today from BPAL Ebay auctions and I was sent 6 great imps along with it...I was looking up the scents and descriptions and one I was sent is called Midnight. I couldn't find it here and I even looked at the BPAL website to see if I could find it in the GC list and couldn't...any ideas where this came from? I also got an imp of Karme and found that was a Will Call imp...very nice! But any info on the Midnight?

I recently got a frimp of this too, it seems it's discontinued.

Did you order something very limited release? I've noticed they've been tossing discontinued and rares in with things like that.

Mine came with my Trading Post order.

  11. This is a very pretty, light, feminine scent. It actually smells a lot like a more floral version of Glittering Apple to my nose. This will wear very nicely in the spring.

I think it may be a bit too floral for me though and since it is so close to Glittering Apple which I already have I don't think I will be upgrading this one to a bottle.

  12. I love this. Going by the notes I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it, but I'm glad I got a decant on a whim. This smells like wearing a new leather, possibly suede, jacket in the woods in very early spring. It smells like the promise of growing things to come without there being anything green in the scent. There is warm pine needles and the very particular smell of the air in early spring - where the cold dry scent of winter mixes with the warm moister air of spring.

eta: I'm allergic to this. :cry2: I put it on to wear for the day and I couldn't stop sneezing all day. It actually really made me feel awful.

  13. I didn't like Pumpkin Masala Rooibos the first time I put it on. It was too sweet and strong and overwhelming.

I kept it around though for a second test because I really wanted it to work. The second time it moved to the okay pile because the longer I wore it the more I liked what I smelled.

The third time was the charm though. On a whim I decided to wear it for a whole day, and that is when it began to shine. Applied to more of my body I really got the full glory of it's beautiful dry down. It's what I wanted it to be - a beautiful, spicy cup of tea.

  14. The pear note is similar in feeling to the apple note in Glittering Apple. Bright and beautiful. I don't really smell vanilla or honey separately but there is a lovely sweet creamy background.

As a note of caution when this first goes on it there is a faint doll's head plastic scent similar to the way Snow White goes on me. Gladly this dissipates in a few minutes.

  15. Hi, all!

I just have a quick question regarding a recent order, and I thought maybe someone here could ease my nerves... :nervous:

My wonderful hubby ordered Blackbear Moon for me the last night it was up (either Jan. 15th or 16th), and CCNow still has it listed as "awaiting shipment." However, I've noticed that others who ordered BBMoon on the 16th have already received their order. I know the lab hasn't even gotten the ticket yet, and I guess I'm worried because the Lunacies are up for a very limited time, and I would just be broken-hearted if they couldn't fill it because they received the order so late! :cry2:

I also placed an order on the 13th and it got here super fast! Am I just worried for no reason at all???

    Thanks!!

I got my CnS before CCNow said it had even shipped to the lab for my Blackbear Moon, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  16. This is amazing. I don't think I own anything quite like it. Don't make your decision on this one based on your initial thoughts! It took about 20 minutes for this to settle onto my skin. Wet and drying it was almost all hazelnut nut with a spiciness that reminded me of cinnamon or cassia without actually being either. It was nice, but almost overwhelming. It reminded me a little of cookies.

Dry is a whole different story. Sweet dry fur and grasses (maybe that's the dry pine needles, it doesn't really smell piney though). It's like cuddling my cat after she has been sleeping in the sun. The nuts have faded away, leaving behind something that doesn't really smell like any one of the notes in particular. One of the most evocative scents I have tried. This is comforting and sexy and I love it.

-Edit- After having this for a few days it has settled considerably. The in your face, hazelnut/cookies initial smell isn't really present anymore. It just goes directly to the wonderful dry down scent as soon as it is dry. I still get little to no fruit in this, just a warm sweetness that I am assuming the berries leave.

  17. I keep reading the notes in this over and over again because all I smell in this is oranges and... sandalwood? This is a really strange blend.

-edit: I put a little bit more of this on so I could decide if it was wearable or not and the smell made me immediately nauseous. More than a tiny dot of this and all I smell is rotten oranges.
