  1. Almost, this one was almost great. It starts out smelling like an herbal black musk, but dries down to something more in the red musk category. Red musk can go two ways on me and this is the bad way. It's way cloying. It's the same red musk note that ruins Fenris Wolf and Great Sword of War on me. The herbal component is still there, but it's overshadowed by the cloying musk.

  2. I wanted this one to work and was sure it wouldn't. I've been pleasantly surprised though. Mrs. Grose is wonderful. I can smell all three notes and the tea doesn't go gross like it has in every other blend I've tried it in. This smells like a cup of tea that I would love to drink (I love rose flavored anything).

  3. 2012

Beautiful. These are lush, red, straight from the florist's fridge roses. Sweet with a hint of cool greenery. Strong throw. I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my decant, but I will definitely be keeping it.

  4. I like this one a lot. It smells like raw ginger and honey to my nose.

The honey note has an almost floral note that makes it rather pretty. The honey really blooms on the skin and isn't really like honey in bpal normally is. This is like opening a fresh jar of raw honey, the kind that just transports you to the field of flowers it originated in.

  5. I'm 21 weeks pregnant and I haven't noticed any difference in skin chemistry so far, it was the same with my first. I still skin test everything that I buy, for me only a small dot is needed and I can't imagine that tiny amount doing much. Then I put what I like in my clocket. Once I got out of my first trimester I started wearing some on my skin again too as long as there aren't any problem notes listed and I tend to wear less than I did before I was pregnant.

  6. I love this when it first goes on my hair, but as the day goes on it loses a lot of its fragrance and my hair just smells musty. There nothing quite like stopping and thinking, "Why do I smell like my grandmother's basement.... Oh gods it's my hair!"

  7. This is lovely on me. I'm getting a woody not very sweet coconut and tobacco. The chamomile makes a strong appearance on me. I'm really digging this. Coconut tends to always give me a tropical feeling, but this one doesn't really.

  8. Pumpkin Masala Rooibos is that you?

    Yep, pretty much.

Side by side they are almost identical except that PMR has that lovely deep red tea note to offset all the Spice! Dry the spice does mellow a lot in this one and it is lovely, but I'm not sure that it's different enough/I like it enough to keep it and PMR.

  9. So, the only thing that is keeping this blend from skyrocketing into my top ten is that I'm a little bit allergic to honeysuckle. It's going to have to wait in reserve for days when I'm having absolutely no allergy/asthma issues and feel like I can handle it.

This is beautiful soft brown leather, I think the softest leather that I have ever smelled in a bpal. It blends together seamlessly with the patch, vanilla and the sarsaparilla to make a beautiful spicy, warm, sweet, earthy scent. For me, the honeysuckle is a little high pitched and green sitting on top, especially until it dries, but I think that it is only so predominant to my nose because it bothers my allergies.

Dry, everything seems to meld and deepen much better and I have a harder time picking out individual notes.

edit- Seriously screw my allergies, this is too gorgeous to not be in my top ten. It's definitely my top leather scent.

  10. There are so many teas I would love to convert into perfumes.

I would wear the hell out of anything that smells like Celestial Seasonings Nutcracker Sweet. All the website gives me as far as what is in it is, "Irresistibly delicious black tea with vanilla, nutty flavors and a pinch of cinnamon." Any ideas for that one? The cinnamon isn't really pronounced in it to my nose, more like playful wooden mallets type of cinnamon.

  11. This scent almost defies reviewing. It really does smell like my daughter right after a bath- warm, clean skin and the faint scent of her lavender shampoo.

It's the strawberries that take the front, but they are strawberries like I haven't smelled in bpal before. This isn't the heady, sweet smell of fresh strawberries - this is the memory of strawberries. It's as if you had eaten a whole pint of lovely, ripe strawberries and then tried to wash all the juice from you hands. Hours later their scent still lingers, wafting up to you, making you smile.

I don't really smell honey, if it's there it is simply adding to the sweetness and not adding a scent of its own.

This is a nostalgic, close to the skin kind of scent. Reminiscent of that scent that lingers in your child's favorite blankets and clothes and makes you smile even when they aren't there. A scent that brings actual tears to my eyes because I know that it's going to get a lot of wear in years to come as my little girl grows. A scent to remember with when bedtime stories are a thing of the past and afternoons are no longer spent outside in the sunshine and the grass playing, "Look mommy, a flower."

  12. I love musks, all musks. Musk and I are friends.

That being said, I don't think I like this. I can smell the musk and it's lovely, but over top of it is a nauseating, cloying scent. I've smelled it in a few blends before, and I've never been able to pin down exactly what it is. I'm pretty disappointed, I didn't think this one could fail.

  13. When I first put this on my skin my first reaction was, "Oh Hell N-, wait it's getting better." This starts out a weird soapy floral, but it morphs fast. What I'm left with is a beautiful silvery vaguely aquatic scent, it's like sitting near a pond in the middle of the night. The mist is rising out of the water, the air is cooling down, the wind is whispering through the water plants. The moon is bright but clouded, sending silvery gray light and creating deep shadows.

It's cool, a little bit sweet, a little bit floral, a little bit watery, but all beautiful. (And for the record, I generally don't like perfumes that fall into most of those categories.)

  14. Hello. Can someone relieve a newbie's anxiety?

I ordered a Limited Edition (single note) along with some GC imps via CCNow* on 4 July and the page linked in the reply e-mail still reads:

    Order Status: Awaiting Shipment

    Order History: 04 Jul 2012 - Received

Plus I found this from earlier in this thread (bolding mine):

The CCNow shipping status is the source of lots of confusion - it actually means that CCNow has sent the orders to the Lab, not that the Lab has physically shipped it to you (apparently, CCNow batches the orders periodically instead of sending them one at a time &/or in real time). You should receive a USPS Click 'n Ship via e-mail when your order ships from the Lab

I'm worried because of the time sensitive nature of the LE. How long should I wait before e-mailing the Lab?

*This is my first order with CCNow. I never had a problem with PayPal before but now they're demanding a photo ID to unfreeze my account (and the accounts most if not all of their other customers) - seriously, WTF?

You should pretty much ignore the link in the email. It really doesn't have anything to do with anything. They go by the date that you ordered not the day that they harvest payments. I've received orders before CC Now said they were even shipped. I kind of wish that the link wasn't even there because it causes so many people stress.

  15. I adore thee, Mother Mary

But would you change me back to a witch

Solas "On A Sea of Fleur De Lis"

There isn't much about the Catholic Church that I feel nostalgic for but this brings back some of those memories.

The empty church quiet and beautiful.

First communion - which was always done on Mother's Day in my parish. At the end of mass the kids would bring a crown of flowers out to the statue of Mary.

This mixes and melds those two memories and I find myself feeling peaceful and nostalgic. I always loved Mary when I was a child, and this scent is perfect reminder of the childlike regard.

eta: After a whole day's wear it still smells lovely on my skin, but anywhere that it got on my clothes it's just awful. Single note screechy rose. Wierd, I've had the reverse happen before, but nothing like this. I'm actually thinking of changing my shirt.

  16. This starts out rather nice - freshly turned soil and radishes it's like hanging out in a veggie patch. Then it turns into headache inducing floral soap. *sigh* I can't believe I didn't have any luck with any of the Fraggles I tried.
