  1. Sweet red velvet cupcakes with thick peppermint cream frosting.

When this goes on it is a creamy peppermint over a rich chocolate base. As it dries the chocolate disappears and I am left with something indistinguishable from Mother Shub's Unmentionable Peppermint Creams. I like it, but I wish the chocolate would have stuck around.

  2. [No additional description given.]

You know when you get tears in your eyes because of how utterly perfect something is? That's me right now, because this is utterly beautiful.

Dead leaves is one of my favorite notes. I have a lot of perfumes where it is the star, but I don't have any that smell quite like this. This isn't the lab's usual greenish dead leaf note that can swing acrid on the wrong skin type. This is sweet and dry and a little bit spicy. These are leaves in full color. I don't really smell cardamom as a separate note, but I'm guessing it's adding to the spiciness of the leaves.

I smell like I just rolled around in a leaf pile on a warm autumn day and I am loving it.

  3. My impression of Peach Pie hair gloss is almost the complete opposite of the above review. I get PEACH, really super realistic peach - tart and sweet. I get no pastry and no spices. The scent is not as strong and sweeter when it dries, but I still don't smell any pastry. I like it a lot, but I expected it to be more pie like.

  4. Favorite pastime: harassing sheep. Nobody’s perfect.

    Wooly sugared marshmallow root.

    1. Find a bag of marshmallows.

    2. Smash your face into them.

    3. Suffocate and die happy.

Seriously, this is delightful. It has a slightly perfumey edge that adds a bit of complexity but otherwise it is pure vanillay-marshmallowy goodness.

eta: I've been wearing this all afternoon and the perfumey quality faded away by the end of the first hour. It's been the most beautiful vanilla marshmallow scent since.

  5. Popcorn and jelly beans.

I love this! I'm just trying the find the words to describe it that don't make it sound gross.

Wet: Exactly what it says on the bottle. Red jelly beans on the top of the scent(I get red ones, specifically.) and popcorn at the base. It's a little bit buttery, but not nauseatingly so. It's mostly fresh hot popcorn.

Dry: As the two scents meld and it makes a cakey kind of scent. Fruity cake. It kind of reminds me of a simpler Hungry Ghost Moon.

  6. I have a decant of the original and while it smells good, I never sought out more. It seemed to me a rather generic chocolate scent. The staying power was poor.

This one though.... This is is different. This is rich dark chocolate with a somewhat evil feeling edge to it. The staying power is very good, I've been wearing it about 7 hours now and it is still going strong. I've very happy with it.

  7. I don't usually like red musk. There have only been 3 blends ever that I have cared for with it as an ingredient. (Midnight Kiss, The Soldier, WILF, to give you an idea of my tastes.) I decided to give this a try anyway because it's legendary.

When it first goes on I can immediately tell that this is a red musk blend that I am going to like. It's more airy and gentler than any red musk scent that I have tried before. I can actually smell the other notes that are in it instead of them all being drowned out by the musk. I am liking this a lot at this stage.

However.... The dry down is dryer sheets. Not fresh, new, sharply soapy dryer sheets, but one that has been used. Warm, lightly perfumey, and it leaves you tasting soap in the back of your mouth if you breathe it in deeply. I'm disappointed, the first half hour or so smelled so good. I'm going to leave it to age a bit and see if it changes at all.

*I have never tried the original, so I can't compare it to that.

  8. Black musk is one of my favourite notes ever. All the sudden I am getting a reaction to it. I've worn two different blends (that I have never had trouble with before) with it recently and both have given me cinnamon oil like reaction. Has anyone ever just started randomly reacting to their perfumes after years of owning them? Do you think it could just be my extra dry skin right now? I haven't been reacting abnormally to any other notes....... I really don't want to lose my ability to wear my black musk blends.

  9. I was gifted a bar of this soap so I decided to give it a try. That being said, I don't really like Snake Oil. It tend to move between 'meh' and 'blergh' depending my skin chemistry at the time.

In the shower: "That is unpleasent.... I know that smell. It's not Snake Oil but I know and loathe that scent.... Oh, god it smells like my carpets after I shampoo them!" And it does, wet rug, chemicals, hint o'wet dog hair. *shudder*

The worst was yet to come. I'm in my room after my shower and I start to smell urine. I get really pissed off because I assume it was my dog. I go searching for the inevitable wet spot. Nothing, in fact I remember now that dog was in her crate while I was in the shower.

    Oh.

That would be me. Smelling like pee. And wet dog.

  10. Frosted gingerbread, leather, pipe tobacco, and fruitcake crumbs.

Gingerbread man wearing a leather jacket. This brings to mind the most hilariously adorable images to mind. The leather is a bit strong in this right now, but I think it is going to age wonderfully!

I don't get any tobacco at all.

  11. I amp rose in most scents, so I was leary of this. I am so glad that I took the chance anyway. This is lovely.

It opens up with a black of spicy, lemony black musk. (Think Playful Wooden Mallets or Black Temple Burlesque) The flowers are a whisper in the background, there is a hint of soapiness in one of them at this point and I am nervous.

As the musk settles into my skin it becomes warm and cuddly. I don't really smell rose per say, but there is definitely flower dust clinging to this fur. Like rolling around in dried flowers. It's soft and definitely plays second fiddle to the wonderful fur/musk notes. The soapiness is completely gone.

I'm not doing the best describing this, but I love it.
