;O Yay for gaming!! I'm a competitive gamer too! ;D Speaking purely in the context of personality recommendations, You mention The Girl and the Harp of C'noc Chosgair, so I feel that your introverted side likes to focus more on the bright, light and subtle and have chosen The First of Three Spirits to reflect this aspect of your personality. . Your competitive side in gaming suggests commitment, determination and perseverance. All that splendour and glory..ahem light? Although I've probably butchered it a little bit, I'm also throwing Hod into the mix (maybe Hod: Resurrected instead of Hod v2). Your list of 5, gives me the impression that you are consciously aware of yourself- and I also feel that your enjoyment of finer things (indulging in books) and independence as an only child could be reflected nicely in Eve (OLLA). Also, Capax Infiniti for your emotionally sensitive and anxious side because being emotionally sensitive can be quite taxing! ;D

Of course these are only suggestions based on your personality and scent preferences.. I imagine there to be a lot more out there to suit your personality DX ahah

Thank you for the recs!! <3

  2. This is what I wanted Reapers Gonna Reap to be (and what I hope it ages into.) Warmer and sweeter, just the right amount of powdery amber. This is just a more inviting and comforting scent. Reminds me of the amber in Lady Death.

Will edit with staying power and any morphing but first impression is HELL YES.

(Also apparently I need to try Lyonesse.)

  3. Oh boy, I'm in love. All the yes. I bought this because I love 51, and I was not disappointed. This is like the sophisticate perfumed sibling of 51.

In the bottle: Is that you, 51? It's the green musk and white amber. This is far less woody and more ladylike. I get floral with this in a different way than 51. Ozone too, my love. Hi there!

Wet: sooooo green. I love it.

Dry: My husband called it "old lady perfume" but if this is what an old lady smells like, I am so down for getting older. I LOVE IT. Fresh, bright, ozone, green, floral. Loooooove it. I'm sad I only have a 1/2 bottle honestly.

However... it is pretty close to 51. My 51 is super aged, it's more like 59 by now if we were counting, haha. They do vary quite a bit (51 is less 'bright green', it's got a lot more wood and salt to it.) Surprisingly, I prefer Pollution to my 51 though. Love it.

  4. In the bottle: Hello, sexy. Lightly vanilla and soft rum. Mmm

Wet on skin: Well, there's the tobacco. Sandalwood and rum and oudh are playing nicely. I get how people can find a sour note in this, but it was short-lived.

Dry: Ahh I understand the incense now, ooh and the mahogany. This smells like the cheap incense I used to grab as a teen in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE (not overpoweringly so, but in an 'ahh memories' sort of way). Still hints of vanilla and tobacco. I'm ...oddly...liking this. This is out of my wheelhouse but the more it dries, the more I'm like YES!

This is FAR more masculine than I expected from my first bottle whiff. However, for someone who is new on the scene to tobacco...I actually really like this? It's taken another turn and gotten sweeter (vanillic rum!) and I am really digging this one.

  5. So I love green musk. But as far as my green musk love goes, this one is more animalistic than oozy green like Pollution and 51. Not a BAD thing, but surprising.

In Bottle: Sharp, bitter, maybe a hint of smoke

Wet on skin: Smokey sharp green musk, but the tobacco is coming through and ....

Dry: AND there's the vanilla. Far less sharp now, no longer herbal, but definitely still an animalistic musk vs. the oozy luminous green musk in my other loves.

Verdict: This is actually a lot more masculine than I thought it would be, but luckily I tend to migrate to the more andro scents of BPAL. I think this is an interesting scent, to be sure! I like it. I don't think I need MORE of it, but this 5ml will get some love. It's not an overly sweet vanilla, nor is it too smokey or too tobacco-infused. I think it's well grounded, and I'll also be stealthily applying this to the husband to see how it goes on his skin.

This continues to get more lovely as it dries, btw.

  6. Lab frimp of fae and I like it a lot! How have I never smelled this one before??

It smells like Victoria Secret Love Spell on me...except complex and just a hint of spice which is maybe the oakmoss?

I'm not entirely sure I need a whole bottle but I love the sweet peachy effervescence like this is a bubbly summer Moscato without going to candyland.

Fresh and fun and definitely something for summer and spring.

  7.

Ohh, I need some new recs...I've found most of my wishlist bottles and now I need new addictions >.>

    1) Introverted

    2) independent (only child)

    3) competitive (in gaming mostly, but also at work >.>)

    4) sensitive emotionally

    5) anxious

I'm a pretty typical Cancer, haha. I am a total homebody and I love my pets and reading. As far as bpal goes, my death note is violet, and I'm not a huge fan of vetiver or really wooly/furry smelling blends. I have ventured into foodie/spicy lately, but sometimes red musk makes me smell like a corn chip (idk why.) Favorite scents: The Girl, Morocco, Serpentine, Dorian, Harp of C'noc, 51 (I like white florals, ozone, green musk/skin musk/white musk/pale musk, sandalwood, vanilla, etc. etc.)

    Help a sister out!

I immediately think of Wensleydale for some reason. As well as Dirty. Both have that clean skin/laundry softness going on (although Dirty is a bit sweeter and more floral/fresh). Thought they might be comforting.

I would also recommend Parsifal, as it is an ozonic floral and somehow I feel like the archetype of the knight errant fits someone who likes reading/gaming? Maybe because you mentioned gaming, I would also recommend Paladin. It's a clean silver kind of scent (light leather with a tiny clang of metal). I imagine for you, it would fit well with Good (a sweet musk) or Neutral (skin musk).

You mentioned anxiousness, so I thought of Cathode. It's a green chypre and described as "negatively charged." Made me think of frenetic energy. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I let my bottle of Parsifal go in 2009 and I've been thinking of repurchasing and that just confirms it :) I do like Neutral and have a bottle, I'll have to try Good too. I'll have to look into Wensleydale and Cathode!

  9. We visit one of the most ancient sacred sites in the world and what do we do? We play tag among the stones and make silly faces. Why? Because were Barrials.

The chilly air of Wiltshires twilight in late winter, crushed grass, white musk, and Liliths lavender.

In the bottle: WOAH! Hey grass, how you doin'? Green but also floral and I get the musk. Not smelling lavender in the bottle but I do have something hitting me that could be chilly air. This is...interesting.

Wet: Lavender, grass, and musk and clean night air. A little ozone-y even. I'm digging it wet!

Drying: Uh oh. Grass has smacked me in the face again. Sneezingly so. I really want to like this, because it's a clean and crisp and herbal scent.

About 10 minutes later: Oh hey, this is calming down into something lovely. I don't get the in-your-face grass clippings I had in the bottle and for a moment when dry. I still smell lavender, and I smell the 'twilight air' and yes, the grass. I think the musk balanced it out, finally. And hey, no more sneezing!

Throw: Wet and drying this is hit-you-in-the-face green, but it's dried down to a softer throw. I haven't managed to absorb the perfume as quickly as I do some blends.

Synopsis: Overall this is a really clean and green scent on me. I do like it! Buuuuut...I'm not sure how often I'll wear it? It seems like a good spring/summer smell. Definitely going to hold onto it for now!

  10. Photographs, videos they dont do justice to the love that I feel for my girl. The quiet of this moment was special. We werent speaking; it was just a dad and his daughter together, enjoying the fleeting time of youth, and all was right in the world. I hope she remembers these special times when she looks back on her childhood. I know that I will never forget them.

Dorian, Lilith's lavender, snowdrops, and soft vanilla.

    Oh my gosh, I'm first!

In the bottle: Definitely lavender, Dorian, and something slightly citrus. I don't smell the vanilla in the bottle. It smells lovely though! I'd call it clean and fresh in the bottle.

Wet: Ok, there's the vanilla. It's indeed soft--and sweet--and I think the snowdrops are giving this a slight lemon-y smell. Lavender and Dorian together are pretty much amazing, though, and this smells pretty damn good when applied.

Drydown: This now smells a little powder-y on me but NOT in a bad way. Almost a lemon-vanilla powder dusting over Dorian musks and the lavender just a the very edge of my peripheral. I would like more lavender, but it doesn't need it to be a beautiful scent. It's almost foodie at times, but then gets anchored back just this side of floral/musky.

Throw: this came out swinging, but has faded unfortunately quickly on me. As it fades, I'm mostly left with a kinder, gentler Dorian with hints of lavender.

Synopsis: This is, as everyone expected, a keeper!

  11. In the bottle: I'm not going to lie, I hate how this smells in the bottle. I also hate it fresh. So I let this puppy sit for over a year, and now it's been 3 years and I still don't like it in the bottle. Sorry carnation. You're not my fave wet.

Wet: You're better on skin, now I can smell the musk and spices -- I want to say cardamom? -- and still that gd carnation.

Drydown: The carnation takes a hike. Thank godddd. The musk, spices, and cassia come out to play and hnggggg I love it. I get a creamy note too -- what's that? Not quite vanilla though. All I know is the floral has backed off and I get a skin-hugging musk with some beautiful spices and just a hint of creamy vanilla-ish goodness.

Status: I own a bottle, and once it's low I'll seek out a new one but this one is definitely better with age.

  12. In the bottle: Dude, I don't know how to separate these notes, only that they smell heavenly together. I almost smell lavender vanilla which is crazy talk, because no lavender in there! Maybe it's the jasmine and vanilla and begamont? Musk. I smell that and some amber. It's pretty gd amazing it what it is.

Wet: amber, musk, floral....super floral suddenly.

Drydown: Spicy, musky-amber goodness and a little woody (like dry wood though?) -- definitely the vanilla absolute and floral come out to play. It fades fairly quickly and the throw seems to go from strong to meek fairly quickly on me, but I get whiffs of it throughout the day and mmmm it's a beauty.

Status: Buy a backup bottle, STAT!

  13. In the bottle: Herbal vanilla, very 'green' and sweet for a moment.

On wet: Still very chamomile, but the vanilla comes out as it begins to dry.

Drydown: Ahh there's the smokey vanilla, a little bourbon, and behind it a mild chamomile that balances it and keeps it from being too sweet. The chamomile gives it a skin-hugging dusky quality and I love it.

Even better, my husband likes it too!

    Status: Buy a 2nd bottle

Edit: revisiting to say that this could definitely be a daily signature scent. Very subtly sexy.

I'm just freshly back to the BPAL fold and now actually have a decent income (money?! what's this!) and want to try some new things. Problem...my #1 is long gone and hard to find. But here are my top at the moment. At least most are GC?

    1) The Girl <3

    2) Morocco

    3) Dorian

    4) 51

    5) Archangel Winter/Torture Queen toss-up

I would bathe in The Girl if possible, so some of those notes would be awesome in another oil perhaps? I've been scouring but not found much luck. I think I tend towards ozone but more in a 'crystalline' sense? I like white and green musks (usure on reds?) and white florals.

But! I want to try some new things since it's been so long and my skin chemistry and nose aren't the same as they were 5 years ago. Thanks! <3

The Girl is my favorite as well. :) The closest I've ever found is general catalog, but not impable - Lady Death: Savage.

You might also like (GC): Elf, Mage, Lyonesse, White Rabbit, the current Bestiare unicorn, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, Le Serpent Qui Danse

Past LE/DC: Winter-time, Nuclear Winter, Ava, Fairy Market

Thanks for the rec! I bought Lady Death: Savage and it just arrived and it's lovely!

  16. A seductive, serpentine white scent, elusive, crystalline, and spellbinding: white amber, silver birch, immortelle, davana, pale musk, star jasmine, and ylang ylang.

The Girl is so, so, so lovely. Probably my #1 LE and it is HARD to find a bottle! I have been coveting my tiny imp. Should probably review it.

In imp: floral but also that same creaminess/musk I get from Dorian. Sweet but not overly so.

Wet: Skin hugging musk and crystalline floral abound.

Dry: This is really like a second skin. Body hugging BPAL to the max. Throw isn't huge but that's what gives it the intrigue. Pale musk is doing it for me. Florals never get obnoxious yet keep it feminine--the chilliness is helpful in this aspect. Again, like Dorian, this is the kind of cream/musk/vanilla I can get behind and it's the definition of simply lovely perfume. Staying power is excellent. I get whiffs the next day still. This perfume is one of those perfect blends. Simply amazing.

I regret not buying a bottle when it was out. Hardcore. In the meantime I will hoard the precious decant and stretch it out for as long as humanly possible. Definitely a 11 out of 10. Perfection!

  17. I tried a sniffie of this when I first began BPAL but didn't like it. I was PIF'd an imp by Dark Alice a few weeks ago and HOMG. I think my skin chemistry has changed. This. is. LOVE.

In the vial, it was pretty innocuous. Pretty light and not at all aggressive.Couldn't really suss much out by just sniffing it.

Wet: Mmm, tea and the good kind of vanilla. Hint of lemon. Fresh. Creamy. Soft.

Dry: HEAVEN. Really, this, for some reason, evokes something similar to The Girl for me (which is nice, The Girl is 1) htf and 2) frakking expensive when you do). I think my skin chemistry has changed with age and medications over time and seriously, I got a warm vanilla with tea and what I feel is maybe skin musk? I never was a big fan of vanilla in the past but this just melds perfectly. Not too big of throw which is what I want for work. I get a whiff now and again when moving and it's just....ahhh! Lovely!

  18. I really, really loved this...until my body decided to amp the coconut to like 1000x it's smell-power. Holy cow! Overwhelming! I love me some coconut, but it ate every other note in here and just kind of fizzled. Don't get me wrong, I'd still wear it, but I'd need to layer it with something else...maybe something citrus so it could have a fighting chance of being sniffed. A lovely summer scent, but my skin finds the BPAL coconut notes and amplifies them too much!

In the vial I got a nice sniff of florals, but on my skin...goodbye!

3.5/5 because I *do* love coconut.

  19. Hmm...I'm not sure I'd wear this but the scent was interesting. I get a very buttery, pulpy scent from this, the mixing of the mandarin and pumpkin I believe and a nice tang from the ginger and amber. It's not something I'd wear, but it doesn't smell bad. Just incredibly different. Juicy and pulpy and fun, just not to my taste. 2/5

  20. This is a tricky little scent! I love it but unfortunately it doesn't love me and my skin burned like the dickens on application. Still, if I could wear it, I would. I love the coconut and pepper's interaction and it gives me a scent all unto itself. It reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on. It's fun and sweet with a nice pepper bite. I'd give it a 3/5 but since it buuuuuuurns I'll give it a 2/5.

  21. Hello GREEN! This whole scent is 'green' to me. I love the playful scent of the green musk and lime and pear that intertwine so well. Definitely a great, fresh summer scent. Again, not a lot of throw on my skin, but I still love it. Bottle worthy? Maybe not, but I will love my imp of it and maybe find another. 4/5
