    Smoky, Sweet Scents?

I'll cut right to the chase. Normally, I'm all about bright candy and fruity scents. But recently I discovered that I adore Liz, which on me is primarily smoky vanilla with just a touch of floral. So, in an effort to expand my horizons, I turn to you, O-Great-BPALers! Have any recs for good sweet, smoky scents? I tend to prefer scents that are not terribly dark, but if you have one that you think is worth mentioning in spite of this, go right on ahead! Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing about what you guys come up with.

    Obsessed with Tomato Leaf

I get a lot of tomato leaf from Ushi.

    Pink Champagne

This was so nice and bright pink for the first 10 minutes. After that? Smelled exactly like dish soap bubbles on me. Not just dish soap, but a whole big pile of soapy, sudsy bubbles. It was so uncanny and probably a good thing too considering Pink Champagne was sold out. Dodged a bullet, methinks! ETA: correcting typos.

    Who are the authorized resellers?

Is the Whole Foods Market at 3100 Cahaba Village Plaza in Birmingham AL still a reseller? It doesn't seem to list them on the site, but they are listed here on the forums. It would be nice to have a reseller in my home state rather than having to plan a trip down to Atlanta every time I get the urge to go sniffing out a new scent without buying imps/having to wait several weeks.

    Fast food/carnival food-ish scents?

Just popping in to say that Jack smells exactly like buttered popcorn on me and reminds me a lot carnivals for that reason. It may just be my chemistry, but it is a GC scent so it might be worth a try.

    Muse

A light, invigorating floral and citrus blend. Tuberose, lotus and jasmine with a hint of lime. In the bottle: Floral and lime, just like the description. Lotus seems strong. Wet: Jasmine with a citrus kick. The lime is no longer distinguishable; it is now just "citrusy". Dry down: The florals and citrus just seems to sort of meld after a while into a lovely tangy, sparkling scent. It's not too thick or heavy and is surprisingly uplifting. Once it has been on for a few hours it gets a slightly powdery, almost creaminess to it. Conclusion: I like this. It is so nice and light.

    Bess

Bess In the bottle: Fruity with something bitter underneath. Do I smell anise? Wet: There has got to be anise in this. Still fruity with that anise smell. I think the grape is taking over, giving this scent an odd sort of perfumey quality. Dry down: The grape spirit has taken over completely. Mostly fruity grape, a little boozy. No other note seems to be able to stand a chance. Conclusion: It's nice in it's own way, even though my skin chemistry amped the grape up to 11. It all faded to a whisper pretty quickly though. I think I'll probably need a retest.

    Marie

Marie In the bottle: Violets and rose. Feels a bit heavy. Wet: Very heavy. I can visualize the violet and the rose trying to push one another out of the picture. Elegant perhaps, but there is something very bitter too. Kind of fitting considering Marie's end. Dry down: Whatever is bitter in there has taken over completely. It's green and sharp and it's giving me a terrible headache. Conclusion: I had to wash it off. This one was not for me.

    Rapunzel

In the bottle: Sweet floral. There is green in there as well. Wet: Clean and fresh. Very light floral. Not too much of a throw. Dry down: It is very clean and beautiful, just a teensy bit fruity, not even a hint of darkness. I would go so far as to say it is simple and innocent scent, in the best way possible. Conclusion: I like this a lot. I'm usually not very interested in floral scents (they like to go soapy on me), but this would be a wonderful scent for spring. I'm not sure what else to say; it is very, very nice.

    Aizen-Myoo

In the bottle: Fruity! I can smell the sakura as well. Wet: Still very fruity/citrusy without being actually sweet. In each sniff, there seems to be a curious dry, woody scent that comes into play immediately after the fruits. The sakura is also getting stronger. Dry down: Fruits have gotten kinda creamy, but they still have a bit of a bite. I can smell the sakura, but I get no tea. The woody scent is definitely still there, but it has weakened quite a bit. Conclusion: Unfortunately, this scent reminds me of a shampoo I used to use as a kid and is starting to give me a headache. It's a nice scent, but it's not for me.

    Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

Both myself and my husband tried this on. These were the results! On me, it smelled only slightly of sassafras. Instead what was amped was a very masculine smell that I can only assume the oak leaf and one of the other components. Not a BAD smell, but far too masculine for a gal like me. Plus, it was completely gone in less than a couple hours. On my husband, it was a different story. On him, it smells like a delicious, creamy root beer, one whose recipe has been perfected over many generations. Set a mug of that on top of a really nice oak table and that's the scent right there. I could not stop smelling him and while it didn't throw very far, it lasted for hours. Slightly masculine, but not overwhelmingly so like it was on me. Just very, very yummy. We bought the big bottle for him. Just another testament to the sheer variation in skin chemistry!

    The Old Lady Scents

I would like to second Twilight. It's a mature floral scent, one that I wish I could pull off.

    Nyx

Named in honor of the primeval Greek Goddess of Night. A scent reflecting inky black skies and eternal desolation. Night-blooming jasmine, warmed by myrrh, lifted by the promise of rose. Frimped. In the vial it was jasmine-y with a light touch of rose. On wet and dry for the first hour it was straight baby powder. The scent mellowed out to a dusty rose after that, but I'm not fond of the powder stage. Swaps.

    Loup Garou

The first few minutes of this smelled overwelmingly of eucalyptus, but it settled down quickly and turned into a scent of pine and juniper with something sweet underneath. I'm really, really liking this and I don't it's overly masuline at all. My only problem is that it faded significantly after about 30 minutes.

    Séance

Frimped. To be honest, the first 10 or 15 minutes of this on me smelled of strongly of rotting wood and Fabreeze. After that though, it morphed into a sort of dusty roses and violets placed on an unpolished wooden table scent, which was quite nice. 45 minutes later, it's baby powder and just a trace of that middle phase. This is going to the swaps, sadly.
