    Black Lace

Wet (in the bottle and on th skin): Urf- this smells like my grandma's powder puff. I swear she had that same powder for 20+ years so it was all dusty and musty from living in the bathroom. Dry: Ohhh! Much better! Creamy rich tobacco and what I gather is the cognac in the background. This is a girly scent for sure and while it isn't my usual type of scent, it will sub nicely for my original Victoria's Secret perfume when I want to feel all frilly (with a funeral edge LOL)

    Thirteen (13), November 2009

Yummy! The last two Thirteen's I ordered have the same mmmmm, gingerbread note with the chocolate. This is definitely fudge chocolate. I get more plum than prune in the fruity undertone- very subtle. As it dries, I can make out some musky florals and maybe that is a hint of cypress. This is very well blended and although I love the in your face scent of my other thirteens, this one will be nice when I want chocolate that doesn't scream The bottle art is great too! Took me a minute to remember what the heck I ordered when I saw tentacles

    Samhain

Samhain 2009 just arrived in the mail today with perfect timing. It has been gloomy and rainy for several days (making me wish I'd cleaned the fireplace this summer) and the trees are in full Fall glory. I've wanted to try this scent since- well since I first started reading the reviews on this forum. I think I'm already addicted to it. The first swipe was a huge cloud of medicinal herbs but that faded in a matter of seconds. Then it becomes spicy fir needles with just a hint of apple in the background (that faint hint of cider you get when you pick apples and accidentally step on one that has been on the ground). I was really into the Clan of the Cave Bear series and this is pretty much what my mind conjured up when I'd read about fir needle tea. I'm really reaching a point where I'd give a kidney to study under Beth and work at the lab...

Hmmm, this one is interesting. We used to go to a little shop in Florid that sold fresh honey and this reminds me of that store...instant association. I get the orange blossom honeycomb mixed with clover. I miss those childhood days in Florida so I will probably be getting a bottle of this one just because I can open it up and time warp back 30 years. I can't believe I'm actually getting teary-eyed now.
  6. Swank, Tweedledum, Tweedledee, Xanthe, and Jester all have a tart, fruity candy scent.

    Spinning Multicolored Metallic Pinwheel

Now that I've read the PEZ description, that is all I can think about. This is similar to Velvet Pink Kitty but fruity and tart rather than pink and sugary.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

Wet: Wowee! Pure tart strawberries! Dry down: sun-warmed strawberries before you wash them and pull off the leaves. This is the bowlful of strawberries I used to pick in grandma's garden. Should've bought a second bottle...

    St. John's Eve

In the bottle and wet: a smokey bonfire...almost a hickory cured bacon Dry down: Yum! Smoke with a touch of frankincense and myrrh. I may be odd but I love the smell of smoke that clings to your clothes and hair after standing close to a huge bonfire. This is almost exactly the same scent with a touch of incense.

    Lilith and the Jarocho

In the bottle : lemony jasmine On the skin wet: lime, margaritas and ::sniff:: marigold! Dry: each sniff is different. Lemony tea, then cedar (I love cedar wood), some boozy lime, there's a bit of Snake Oil...very complex and very lovely. Have to agree about the bottle art-- even if I didn't love the scent, that little girl is just the cutest!!
  11. Tweedledum and Xanthe have a Jolly Rancherish smell if you like your sweets on the sour side.

    Deep in Earth

When I first applied this one I got dirt dirt dirt dirt URINE dirt URINE Where did that come from? Thank goodness the urine disappears when it dries down. Now it is mossy earth. Smells like my great-aunt & great-uncle's farm when we used to visit. A damp, rich soil with decaying vegetation. Dag nabbit! This one makes me sneeze.

    Wulric, the Wolfman (2006)

In the bottle: Dark and warm cocoa, vetiver, and a touch of lavender in the background. Wet: Oh yum! Now I get the vanilla! This is still to dry and earthy to be a foody scent but it just straddles the line. Dry: The vetiver is gone and now this is an herby, musky cocoa. All around this is warm, fuzzy delicious scent! I'd love to try this one on a guy too...very unisex.

    TKO

I ordered a bottle of this (finally) to help with my life-long insomnia. Oddly, it smells like burnt rubber in the bottle but I figured "What the heck" and swabbed my pillow with it. The burnt rubber smell finally faded and I smell lavender with a faint sweetness. It works like a charm. I normally read for hours in order for my mind to shut off but I barely make it through a chapter when I use this. I also wake up feeling like I got a full night's rest, even if I only got a couple of hours due to my schedule. The kiddos have both laid down in my bed (the girl during a thunderstorm which usually means a sleepless night for both of us) and the boy when he wanted to take a quiet nap. They both went out within minutes.

    Violet Ray

Well, I have let my daughter take over my bottle of Faith and was frimped some Violet Ray by the psychic labbies. I tried this one on and bought a bottle with my next order. The violets are sweet and just a bit powdery on my skin with a minty top note. I can just make out the sandalwood if I try very hard. This one is not as chilly as Ultraviolet, nor sugary like Faith. This has some great throw and lasts for hours-- a bonus for me as my skin sucks up scents way too fast.

    Leanan Sidhe

I have wanted to try this one for ages but I was rather put off by the reviews rating this as a soapy smell. I got a frimp from the lab and plan to order a bottle soon. This is a very delicate herbal scent, with a touch of sharpness like a crushed dandelion stem. It has some similar properties with "The Host of the Air" but much more ethereal...this is a quiet walk during misty Spring dawn rather than romping on the hillside on a sunny Spring day.
  17. CCCLXXVII (377) OMG! Wow-- just wow! Oh how I wish this was one I could order gallons of! This is a Snake Oil with a campfire smoke/ tobacco leaf overtone. Sultry, smokey, and dead sexy!
  18. CCXLIX (249) This one definitely has an O base. I can smell some green herbs but nothing I can identify...just a touch of, well, "green". There is some citrus in the background too. Must be lemon or grapefruit because it is a bit tart. I get some skin musk on the dry down too. This is fresh, clean and stays close to the skin. I can understand all the reviews where scents smell like "me, only better" because that's what this one does. Keeper :love!:

    Velvet Unicorn

Yowza! A calorie free way to get a pre-Easter sugar rush! It started off pure pink cotton candy but after a few minutes, it smells the way meringue tastes (I hope that makes sense). Strawberry meringue pie This is an arm licking scent for sure!

    413 U.S. 15 / Miller Vs. California

Bordello got time warped and is now a "personal escort" in a Vegas penthouse. She is setting up for her next appointment- a favored john, dressed in thigh-high leather boots and leather corset with garters. She purses her berry red lips and pours a glass of his preferred Remy Martin to let it air. She turns to the bed a removes a package from the maroon satin sheets and smiles as she recognizes the handwriting on the package. Crisp crackling fills the air as she removes the plain brown wrapping and she reads the note written on cream colored linen paper that simply states "for tonight." Her eyes light up as she lays the leather paddle on the satin sheets and she softly hums "I was made for lovin' you" under her breath.

    Flower Moon 2009

In took a chance on this one as I normally don't like florals (but Beth's blends are making me eat my words lately). In the bottle and wet, there is something green and tangy trying to take over. From what I remember of my grandma's flower bed, I'm betting it is phlox and daffodil. On dry down, the wisteria and honeysuckle smack back the greenness into the background. Then some wild animal with honey dribbling from it's paws runs through the flowers and leaves a sticky trail over the petals-- warm, sunny and sweet but just a trickle. If my friend gets a whiff of this one, I will have to beat her back with a stick!

    Ol' Roswell Cemetery

Hmmm, this one is interesting. In the bottle and throughout most of the past 2.5 hours, there is an almost sour tang. It isn't a nasty sour smell, just different. It's been so long since I've been through Georgia, I can't remember if this is what the dirt smells like. The tang mixes with some crushed flower petals but I can't pick out any one of the notes. This does have serious throw and every time I move, I get a whiff of that tang. I'm not sure I'll reach for this one often but I will reach for it.

    The Illustrated Woman

Just purchased this one from the wonderful stellans and holy morpher! I love it! In the bottle, it is rich pine and patchouli. I don't get that fake, sweet pine air freshener scent but the scent of pine pitch I've always loved on the drives down to Florida (the smell always let me know I was close to "home"). As it dried down, the pine took a back seat to a warm smokey vanilla scent. Every so often the pine would jump back out to say hello. After another half an hour, I got a resiny tobacco smell like my father's cigar box. The next sniff, it was musky pine pitch. Now, at two hours, I smell smokey pine and musk. Adding this one to my "get another bottle" list.

    De Sade

Back in my mall rat days, I used to go to the leather shop just to breathe. I think part of why I always liked dating the "bad boys" was the fact that I always got to snuggle up to a leather coat . This scent is drool inducing! If the movie Young Guns could be a scent, this would be it!

    Death Adder

I tried this one on as soon as my package had arrived and got smacked with a very bitter vetiver (maybe the opoponax) that made my nose cringe. I let it settle down for a couple of days and gently rolled it before dabbing it on my wrists and this is everything I hoped for after reading the reviews. Coconut and earthy snake oil. The snake oil comes forward on the dry down but I still have enough coconut to make me huff my wrists.
