    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

In the decant: cocoa! no sugar Wet: tobacco, with musk to back it up. Strong. Dry:Cocoa, dry, bitter, swirling with tobacco. Not really my thing

    When the Winter Chrysanthemums Go

fresh snow (some combination of pine-mint but not ozone) with amber and chyrsanthemums. I like this a lot, but I think I'll use it as a room scent rather than wearing it. This reminds me of Lines Written Among the Euganean Hills, a bit.

    The Snow Maiden

'09 version Snow (ozone-ish), flowers and a berry note. Smells a bit like shampoo to me. Nice and fresh.

    Evening Cicadas and Red Peppers

Hmm. I get wood, greens and soapy flowers. Interesting, but not for me.

    The Girl

In the bottle: this is really perfumey, and really alluring. I think this is the same crystalline musk I smelled in White Phoenix, and it reminds me of a more traditional department store perfume. Wet: I slathered too much! Whew, that's some throw! Classic perfume feel to it. Hmmm. there's a vanilla-amber sweetness there, behind the musk. It's nice, and does remind me of a little girl. This is great stuff. Dry: I think I'm getting a hint of jasmine. It's there, but not overpowering. This is a beautiful perfume. (comparison to Snow White, for those interested: This is a lot more musky, with none of the creaminess. not very similar to me.)

    Pet Magah Bird

This is not as bright and citrusy as I thought it'd be. In the bottle: I almost get something creamy, like caramel. Dry: deep blood orange, maybe some guava? mmmm, blood orange. Definitely fruit punch-y, but not so that it hits you in the face with citrus. There's definitely a burst of sugar there, and it's still a fruit explosion. . . but the fruit component has a nice depth to it. ETA: Ok, after awhile I'm getting florals. huh. ETA2: 20 min. later I've got pixie sticks and a sugar rush.

    Pumpkin V (2009)

Wet: buttery pumpkin, and coffee. yum! Dry: Spice starts to come out, an it becomes more sweet and spicy. I can't pick out the coffee anymore. What it really reminds me of is Sugar Cookie - not the baked goods scent, but the warm, spicy drydown.

    Carnal

How have I not tried this before!? It is the juiciest, sweetest orange you can imagine - almost candylike. I think I need a bottle of this.. . . yum!

    Summer's Last Will and Testament

There's a lot of citrus in the background, but for me it's drown out by the herbal smell of marigold. It's very strong! And interesting smell, but not something I really want to wear.

    Black Butterfly Moon

Dark. . . with a floral backdrop. I smell opopponax, and either lily or gardenia (or orchid? something floral. . . ). I was hoping for more currant, but I get no fruit. I think "soft" and "luminous" are good words for this. Very pretty and elegant.

    Utrennyaya

This was a frimp, so I had no idea of the description when I first sniffed it. Also, it shattered in transit and got all over, so that was why it was so STRONG. Wet: very cold- is that mint? or pine? It does remind me of Lines Written about the Euganean Hills. The mint is almost as strong as toothpaste, but it never quite crosses the line. It's fresh smelling. Dry: the florals are coming out more, and I'm not getting mint so much as mint-violet-floral. It's very pretty, but I don't like wearing mint. Maybe it would work as a room scent?

    Berry Moon 2009

Um, I'm totally confused. In the bottle I smell berries - with a bit of pie filling. Yummy! On my skin it smells fresh and green. Where are the berries in my Berry Moon? or the orange blossom? ETA: I will say that 15 min. later it smells like musk, with a fresh clean note. no berries.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

The first time I tried this, it dried down to pure grass. Yuck! After a few days it's settled down to more strawberries + clover. The strawberry note is juicy and sweet, but not sugary. the fresh greenery grounds it very nicely. Love it!

    Zombi

Huh. I get very little dirt from this. There's a bit to begin with, but then it turns into pure rose. Unfortunately, rose doesn't do well on my skin.

    Carnaval Diabolique

Wet: Lemon! Not artificial, but basically lemon juice. I was afraid of this happening. . . Dry: whew! lemon has backed off a lot. I get a bit of coconut and vanilla, with maybe some florals. A happy, lemony scent. I like it.

    Velvet Unicorn

Sweet! This is very very sugary. Like a sugar rush. Or like cotton candy. It's got some tartness to it, but it dries down to pure cherry/vanilla sugar. Like pixie stix.

    Khrysee

When I put this on, I got that ONE note from snake oil and snake charmer that just DOES NOT like me. Is that the vanilla amber? If so, I've finally identified what it is that makes snake oil go bad for me. I don't get a lot of orange blossom from this.

    Faiza, the Black Mamba (2006)

Wet: black musk, dark and perfumey. I also get greenery and a bit of spice (or sandalwood) in the background. I can't really identify the notes in this, it's so well blended. Dry: after awhile, I get more gardenia and jasmine. It's still very dark, perfumey and sinister smelling. This is the perfume of a confident woman.

    Dorian

Inspired by and created for my beloved Tedwin: my eternal, beautiful, wicked Dorian Gray. Refined, elegant, and lovely, with a noble bearing and seemingly gentle air. This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea. wet, it's lemony and sweet vanilla dry, it's a musky vanilla. It's far too candy-sweet for me, or too powdery, or too musky, or too much something. I don't get any lemon, though.

    Red Devil

red, resinous and floral. It's going a bit sour on me, and I'm guessing that's jasmine. It smells like red fruit and candy in the background, but the floral is ruining it for me. off to the swaps.

    Aglaea

This is gorgeous! the peach is not too tart, but sweet and smooth. It's nicely grounded by the musk and amber. Yum. I need a bottle.

    Juliet

All that lily is turning soapy on my skin. On drydown, it gets better and I get more pear and white musk. It's extremely pretty and feminine, but a bit too floral for me.

    Tavern of Hell

Wet, this is a bright blast of gardenia. Dry, it gets darker. I get a hint of the orange blossom, lavender and alcohol. I'm having trouble identifying anything else - it's well blended. The floral is a bit too overpowering for me, but I like the complexity and depth.

    Florence

this starts out with tart berries, but settles down into amber and spices with some heady iris in the background. Nice, but a bit too much spice (or incense?) for me.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

In the imp this smells sweet. I don't know which of the notes that would be. On my skin, it's very herbal. I smell the frankincense and galangal, which smell a bit dusty to me. There's some sweetness hanging around in the back, and it makes me think of rosemary for some reason. Not because there's any in this blend, but because it's sweet + herbs.
