    Poisoned Apple

Wet this is crisp, cold, sweet apples. When first on this smells more like apple juice than the flesh of the apple. This is a red apple with white flesh. After a few minutes, the apple softens and a sweet vanilla note starts to develop. This starts to fade after about an hour and now it smells like a plain apple single note. This is a nice pure apple blend. I think this will be perfect to wear in cooler weather.

    The Illustrated Woman

Wet this is musky, sweet and warm. When first on this is gorgeous vanilla, patchouli, and tobacco. It's warm and sweet, very intoxicating. After a few minutes the honey really develops. After a couple of hours this is a very sexy blend of warm vanilla and pine. It feels very cozy. On the drydown this is a soft, close to the skin honey, vanilla and pine blend. This is gorgeous!! I also think this captures Shelldoo perfectly I'm sure this will be one of the CD classics. I've already started stocking up on it.

    The Antikythera Mechanism

Wet this is sharp tobacco and warm vanilla, somewhat masculine. When first on this is warm vanilla and a sharp, almost metallic note. After about a half hour there's a nice woody note developing along with the very warm and dark vanilla. This doesn't change much more on me which is fine because I love it! On the drydown this is a gorgeous blend of tobacco and smoky vanilla. This is a new favorite GC for me and I think this will be very popular. I also love that it's got a connection to ancient Greece

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

I've got it!!! Beth is the Prince of the perfume industry!! (in terms of being prolific and a hugely talented artist)

    Nostrum Remedium

Wet this is clean, soapy and herbal; possibly aloe and something creamy and sweet (honey). When first on this is green and herbal mixed with a perfumey, almost citrus note. After a couple of minutes the perfumey note fades and now the creamy and soapy notes start to develop. As it starts to dry down, the sweetness of the honey really comes out. At this stage it reminds me of Dream of the Fisherman's Wife :D This is just what the doctor ordered I see a bottle of this in my future

    Marianne

Wet this is big, bold, sexy red musk! It's very similar to Scherezade in the wet stage. When first on this is sharp and bitter red musk with a strange almost peanut note. There a sweet floral note far in the background. After a couple of minutes the floral note gets stronger. After about half an hour this softens quite a bit and is mainly red musk now. Although this starts out strong, this stays a soft, sweet red musk and floral blend. This is very sexy! A must for anyone who loves Scherezade, Snake Charmer or Madame Moriarty! Gorgeous!!

    Dionysia

Wet this is dark berries and incense. When first on there's a brief hint of a peanutty note and then a sharp fruit note. There's also an earthy undertone too which is probably the patchouli. After about an hour, this softens and becomes more floral. It reminds me a bit of Zombi and Queen of Clubs at this stage with the mix of fruit, florals and incense. This doesn't change much more. It's a nice earthy incense blend. Very nice!
  8. I'm testing out Nostrum Remedium today and discovered that it smells a lot like The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, especially on the drydown. I know there's not a cream note listed in Nostrum Remedium but it's very creamy on me. Both blends have honey in them too so that might be part of the similarity. I was kicking myself that I only bought one bottle of DFW but now it looks like I've got an alternative- yay!

    Cytherea

Wet this is patchouli, vanilla and amber. Very seductive. When first on this is plastic pencil shavings! Oh no! Why does this smell so different andweird on my skin? This sinks into my skin very quickly. It almost smells like Belladonna at this stage- wet, green and herbal. After about an hour this is a very faint vanilla. This wears off very quickly leaving behind an almost imperceptible creamy vanilla. I've never had a BPAL wear off this fast. This is a nice scent but it's just not long lasting enough for me.

    Agrat-Bat-Mahlaht

Wet this is honey, burnt caramel and a weird celery salt (??) note. Strange. When first on this is fruity, caramel, celery salt and something really familiar. I think it's like a caramel apple smell. It's foody but in a country craft fair way. After several minutes this smells like waffles and hot brown sugar with a bit of bite to it. After a few hours this softens to a close to the skin caramel honey scent. This is a very sexy and upscale foody scent. A must try for honey lovers!

    Marguerite

Wet this is a wonderful mix of roses! It's sweet and dewy like the Venus celestial oil (not the TAL one). When first on this is a mix of florals and a hint of an herbal or wood note. There's also something that smells "yellow" like lemon but not quite. After about an hour this is very powdery and floral but I can't really smell the roses at all at this stage. On the drydown this is soft pink roses. This is a very pretty floral blend. It's nice but is a little too powdery for me.

    Bezoar

Wet this is sweet cardamom and something orangey and creamy. It's almost a bit like those orange flavored baby aspirins mixed with cardamom. When first on this is sweet, spicy and woody; cardamom and bitter orange or citrus. The sweetness fades quickly and it has a soft evergreen/sap note to it. I think this is the balsam. As this develops, it takes on a warm nutty/woody tone. It reminds me of Danse Macabre at this stage. This is a really odd blend. It has a bit of the "playdough" note which doesn't ever happen with my body chemistry. I like the cardamom and wood in this but the rest of it is too strange for me. This is a light scent but is very long lasting. I'm glad I got to try it though.

The Maltese Cross of Sanctus Germanus

Wet- yes!!! This is very strong oud (agarwood), amber and a hint of orange. When first on this is very perfumey mixed with amber and a sweet floral note. This feels regal. After about an hour this has softened quite a bit and the incense starts to develop. This is a warm and sexy scent. It has a nice sweetness too. This dries down to a very soft, close to the skin powdery scent. There's still a hint of the oud (agarwood) which is lovely. Very nice!

    Bruised Violet Compound

Wet this is clean and soapy violets and a hint of citrus, maybe lemon. When first on this is very light and clean with the faintest hint of violets. There's also a round, creamy feeling undertone. This stays mainly a light herbal violet blend. It has a nice hint of sweetness and also a clean feeling to it. This feels like an elegant, upscale gentleman's fragrance but I think it's herbal enough to work as a unisex fragrance too. Very nice!

    Tabula Smaragdina

Wet this is soft rose and incense. When first on this is the same wonderful blend of rose and incense and maybe some myrrh too. This has a lovely warm wood and powdery sweetness to it. This doesn't change much more on me. On the drydown this is a really soft, creamy rose, myrrh and incense blend. I think this is probably similar to Rose Cross but I haven't tried that one in a long time. This blend is perfect for anyone who likes incense and rose!

    Faeu Boulanger

Wet this is sweet dewy florals mixed with something fresh and green. Almost like cucumber but not quite. When first on this is powdery violets and something green. After a minute or two, a melony note comes out. Something about this blend reminds me of Mi-Go Brain Canister (one of my all time favorites!). It's not as bright or fruity as Mi-Go but it has a similar feel to it. This blend definitely has a mossy/misty quality to it. I can't ever really detect the mushroom note. The mint is somewhat faint and in the background. The drydown on this is a nice almost creamy violet. This is a really unique and intriguing blend. I will be wearing this one a lot! I recommend this to anyone who wants something new and different for summer. Lovely and ethereal!

    Black Lace

Wet this is sweet, creamy vanilla and a high musky "perfume" note. Sort of like Antique Lace with a twist. When first on this is a blend of cotton, musk, a sweet note and a hint of cream underneath. This is a very romantic and soft powdery scent. Very feminine. This becomes a close to the skin scent. It's mainly vanilla with an almost clean soapy note. This is very nice but I'm not sure if it's unique enough to keep. Update: I decided to give this one to a friend as a gift. I know she loves this scent and wanted more of it so I'm happy to give it to a loving home!

    Slippery Poppy Tincture

Wet this is a bright floral and sweet berries. When first on this is bright red poppies!!! This is very cheerful and uplifting. After a few minutes the acai berry note really develops. Acai berry is a new favorite note of mine (I love it in Australian Copperhead). As this dries down, the honey note warms up making this a close to the skin scent. The poppy note is still very much present too. This is a gorgeous sweet floral. It really smells like the bright translucent red petals of poppies. Wonderful job Doc Brian!! Note- a friend said that this scent smells like roses on me. Rose is my favorite note so that's a good thing for me.

The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife

Wet this is honey and something soft and powdery. I think that's the ambergris. When first on this is a crisp aquatic scent with some warmth in the background. After a few minutes the aquatic note softens and the honey starts to develop more. I also get a hint of mint at this stage. After a couple of hours this is very soft and creamy. This dries down to a very soft, creamy, close to the skin honey scent. This is gorgeous!!! I'm so glad I got a bottle of this one.

    Parentalia

Wet this is cedar, pepper, wood, and a touch of rose. When first on it's cedar mixed with something floral and "perfumey". After a couple of minutes, the rose comes out a little more and then it almost smells like apple?? After a couple of hours this is a mix of faint violet, rose and woods. It's soft and cozy smelling although a bit soapy too. On the drydown this becomes a soft violet and rose blend with some hints of wood in the background. It's sort of like a cross between Danse Macabre and Harlot. Nice!

    Anactoria

Wet this is honey, amber and a touch of musk. It's soft, sweet, powdery and creamy. When first on this is sharp, bitter honey- almost like pine. The bitterness fades within seconds leaving soft honey with a creamy feel to it. After about half an hour, the musk comes out making this a soft, creamy, close to the skin scent. This doesn't change much more on me. This is really lovely! It reminds me a bit of Svadhinaopatika.

    Valentine of Rome

Wet this is sweet myrrh, incense and a hint of fruit. It's herbal and woody. When first on it's still woody and herbal, a bit sharp. After a couple of minutes, the myrrh and incense notes develop. This doesn't change much more which is fine with me because I really like it. It's similar to Midnight Mass but sharper and less sweet. Nice.

    Baklava!

Oooh- how did I overlook this one?? It's got so many notes in it that I love! I've got a sniffie of it. I will be testing it at East Coast Will Call next week and might have to get a bottle. For what it's worth, most of the other blends mentioned above don't smell that much like baklava to me. I Dragon's Milk but it has no honey in it at all. It's still a very warm and cozy and sweet scent though. (I am half Greek so I know my baklava! LOL)

    Hony Mone

Wet this smells like musk and amber, soft and sweet honey and probably vanilla too. When first on this is strong jasmine, wet and floral. After a few minutes the jasmine calms down and an earthy note develops- maybe this is the fig. This becomes a sweet floral with a touch of earthiness. It's similar to the original Honey Moon lunacy blend but is a bit darker. I'm curious to see how this will age. Lovely!

    The Phoenix

Wet this is a strong sea and aquatic blend, fresh and bracing. It has a classi men's cologne smell. When first on it's the same fresh aquatic blend, bright and breezy. After several minutes, the Snake Oil starts to come out and warm it up a bit. After a couple hours there's an earthy undertone. As this dries down, the sea air note has mellowed quite a bit and this is much softer. Aquatics don't usually work on me buth the Snake Oil is what saves this blend for me. I think this will age very well too. Thank you so much Beth and Ted for allowing us to share in your wedding celebration. I will always treasure this special blend and it's companion Pirate Moon
