Vanilla and musk, wafting out to nighttime frangipani. This is a hot summer night...

It would have been lovely if this one were nice for me. But, Uggggghhhhhhhh! Chrysanthemum leaves and cat piss. Thank goodness it eventually lost the kitty pee on dry down!

I'm afraid this just isn't what I expected. At first it's all cherry robitussin, followed very quickly by Flintstones chewable vitamins. After it dried up and soaked in a bit, I ended up smelling like the Yankee Candle section of any Hallmark retailer. ( This is absolutely nothing like Raven Moon, by my experience. Raven Moon is lovely and spicey and dark and patchouli-i....)

HOWEVER during my first period class today, one of my students got all excited and told me that I "smell exactly like Christmas!". I think I will be gifting the bottle to her because I just don't get it. My idea of "Christmas" definately has more of a pierogi essence...(not that I want to smell like pierogies)

Creamy white and very very feminine. Lots of compliments on this one. Wish it stuck around longer. There is not one note in this blend that really stands out on me. This is naked, soft, white skin. Bought a second bottle for backup.

In the bottle- very strong and liniment-y- and I do understand the reference to brown cardboard- wet brown cardboard.

On the skin- after it settles in- creamy silvery birch, patchouli, and musk. A little strange and a little sexy. Like any authentic kitty.

Berry-flavoured scent, very quickly turning to pink bubble gum. Develops undertones of cooking rice. This would be nice for a little girl.

No literal smoke. Reminds me of Lune Noir. But a bit deeper and darker......... More deep violet, less twilight green...

I'm disappointed on this one: Clod and the Pebble-sque, but less baked-ham-ish

I think "ethereal" and "somber" are perfect adjectives for Mourning Moon. I would also add "bitter." Wet on my skin, and in the bottle, this is a bit of musk and raw wood overshadowed by a strong, bitter pith of the grapefruit. This isn't a "good" smell at this point, I find it a bit disturbing. After it dries down, the bitterness fades a tiny, tiny, bit, revealing a hint of the sweet calla lily. At the end of the day, it's raw wood and bitter grapefruit.

Overall, this is really the taste on your tongue when you get a bit of the grapefruit's pith in your mouth, and your face just automatically screws up. Strangely enough, I enjoy Mourning Moon. It's what I wish aquatics were like on me. I did not find this minty, or at all like Vampire Tears, which was all sickeningly sweet almond-cherry candy for me. This is frozen, mud and a biting, dry wind, bringing winter in.

After the initial bitch slap of extremely angry lavendar, this mellows down to something you wish little girls actually smelled like. This very clean and soft and pretty- it's gone through a lot of phases over the course of the day- a bit like Lilith Victoria's namesake will. There are flowers, and talc, something spicy, definately an "Xavier Roberts" phase, and by tonight, something that does remind me a bit of "No More Tears." I think this will get even better over time.

An idea for maybe please please please: it would be really cool if Beth revisited this every year, adding and deleting notes as L.V. becomes herself.

Lots of green ivy and tangy dark florals. The moonflower doesn't stand out for me as it does in other blends. This one starts off very strong and bold, with a lot of throw, but quickly fades to not much. I'm suprised by this, because it reminds me more of summer than autumn. Reminds me of my limited experience with night time in the South East...

Very very cherry, almost almond, touch o'musk, no anise for me! Short wear length and not much throw. To me, this is a "middle school" scent.

Juicy-tart Granny Smith, apple blossom, green stems of roses (?), freshly dug up earth, and cold, crisp, herbal gin.

Wish this was a bigger bottle, or that I could have afforded a multiple purchase!

The best way I can describe Lune Noir is that it must be Penumbra's little sister. It's purple and sweet, but not as dark and deep, more floral. This is pretty and very girly girly.

In the bottle, this was all hippy dippy patchouli.

On my skin, sweet amber with lots of Byzantine funeral incense. This dried down to a swell of amber that smelled just like 2 blonde brothers I loved a million years ago...

Edited to add: The more I wear this, the more the patchouli comes out, harmonizing with the amber, and shooing away the churchy incense. And the more I wear this, the more I think this must smell like love... I had to order another bottle before it went away. I think this is my holy grail of BPAL...

I'm trying to decide whether I should flip out yet. I got a CnS from the lab on 8/7 for my order containing SGA and the black moons. I got a CnS on 8/11 for my Sturgeon Moon order, and it arrived today, 8/13. I checked the order tracking stuff on CnS, and all it's showing is that my SGA order left the California post office on 8/7. I don't think anything's taken this long to get here from the lab. And this order is irreplacable, since it has a limited edition item in it...

 

Exact same problem here, down to the fact that it's SGA and irreplaceable and the fact that an order that was shipped Monday arrived here today. Calling USPS is no help whatsoever. I'm more than a little upset about it

Hmmmmmmm... A few months ago, the post office at Kearny held a BPTP package hostage/in limbo for like 2 weeks before they sent it on to my local. But to my best recollection, BPAL stuff doesn't have an intermediate check in point before going on to my local post office. Are you in Somerset county? Maybe something's going on with that 8/7 shipment. If I don't get my stuff, or see updated info, before the weekend, I'm going to officially flip and email the Lab.

For me, this is a very pretty, blended, potpourri-without-all-the-chunks-and-dust kind of floral. I don't get any fruit or any citrus from this, and the florals are not distinct and I can't pick out rose, or the linden that usually reminds me of lemon pound cake. That said, it's really pleasant as a room and linen spray, and very long lasting on my sheets. I wouldn't want to wear this as a personal fragrance, as some folks have suggested about some of the sprays for the other seasons. I'm glad I gave in and bought La Primavera, though I really thought I wouldn't care for it.

This is all pink icing sugar, to me. I don't think I can wear this without the bath oil, to tone down the carb count....

I'm using this as an aftershower moisturizer and I must admit it is a suprise- it's the one season I seriously debated not getting. I'm getting a slightly citrusy Coppertone effect, and not much florals. I know it sounds weird, but it's absolutely yummy! It reminds me of the beach without being obnoxious. The perfume is super sweet, so this balances out the total effect. Very long lasting fragrance!

At first, L'Autunno is incredibly boozy spiced apple cider. After dry down, the proof seems to level off, leaving sparkling spiced apple cider- lovely and crisp, not like smooshy apple pie ,and without any yeastiness. I'm glad I gave in and sprang for this set; the perfume oil and bath oil are terribly lovely, if not much alike. Combined, one gets a very full autumn blend of aromas.

Too bad this isn't edible I used this as an aftershower moisturizer since I'm not supposed to take baths, and I have to say that it is very highly scented. At first, it was a very, buttery molasses and cinnamon sugar- like a wonderful winter drink. The butteriness dried down to leave a wonderful molasses and burnt cinnamon sugar with a hint of mellow patchouli. This is sugary without the sweet. It reminds me of burnt kettle corn and the farmer's market upstate NY on a snowy fall morning.

Wow, no citrus for me. I used this directly on my skin as an after shower moisturizer. When I opened the bottle, I thought "Oh no! Eau d'cat piss!" But I guess I'm too used to cats and slathered up anyway. Immediately, softly feminine Irish spring, with a hint of star gazery pinkness. This is fresh and clean!
