  1. Ok, I am going to re-post this since my post seems to have been lost in the shuffle today.

I usually use paypal for ordering and I have read about the usual ccnow issues, but I couldn't find this one anywhere. On April 14th I ordered from the Trading Post using ccnow and my Master Card. I got a CnS from the Trading Post yesterday morning and according to that it was mailed and left LA last night at 9:44pm....BUT...according to ccnow, it is still awaiting shipment and I checked with my bank and my card has not been charged.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I was debating on if I should just wait it out a few days or if I should email Puddin. I just don't want to be totally overreacting here.

    Help?

  2. Finally reporting back on The Smiling Spider. Sadly, this did not turn out good on me. It was really sharp and bitter. I have tried it twice now and something in it just will not work with my skin chemistry. :P

I am thinking it may be a combo of the bitter clove and patchouli. I don't usually like patch, but there are a few blends that have it that really work for me.

I did not get the clove cig scent from this. I am thinking if it had sweet clove it may have been a different story.

I am going to add that after a long wait, it does end up being less bitter and more spicy on me, but, the smell I get while waiting for that is just too strong and headache inducing to wait.

  3. Ok, I don't know if this counts because even though it's not GC, it IS still available. I noticed the other day that Mme.Moriarty , at least on me, smells an awful lot like Crypt Queen. The MM I was wearing was about 5/6 months old. I'll do more testing, maybe a side by side comparison, but it was almost dead on.

I think it's very helpful to post when you find a not-so-rare, or even a still-available LE (like Mme Moriarity) that resembles a harder to find one. So it counts! Be sure to share when you find time to do a side-by-side comparison, too.

Doing it now. The CQ is a bit sweeter, but there is still a very strong resemblance. I think it could be the combo of pomegranate, plum and patchouli in both that makes them similar. Than again, I could be wrong. And, it could just be my chemistry that makes these two smell similar. I'd love to know if anyone else gets this with these two.

ETA...Now I wonder if it's just me and I have a wacky sense of smell. I just asked my Dad's opinion and he said they smelled nothing alike. :P

  4. This scared me at first because it screamed MINT! First, out of the bottle and then for the first few minutes on my skin.

Now, about 10 minutes later, the mint seems to have vanished, or at least, faded to the point that it's only whispering now.

Florals usually go horribly wrong on me, but this works. It's more greenery than floral and it's lovely.

I am usually not all that great at picking out individual notes, but I think this one is so well blended that even if I were good at it, I would have a tough time with this.

    A perfect scent for spring!

  5. I am totally kicking myself for waiting until the last minute to order and try this because of course, it turns out to be absolutely gorgeous! For lack of a better word, it's just so creamy. I don't notice the lotus blossom much at all, just a perfect blend of amber, teak and cream. Lots of cream, almost vanilla like. And on me it has some mega staying power. I put it on at about 10:00 in the morning and I could still smell it when I was driving home from work at 10:00 pm!

All day I was really hoping that someone would ask me what it was called because I just want to see the look on someone's face when I say Glowing Vulva! :P

I need to hunt down more of this.

  6. When I first put this on it had a really sharp, not so pleasant scent. I resisted the urge to wash it off, and boy, I am so glad. After about 5 minutes this just turned absolutely wonderful. The wood notes and the currant are so perfect together, and, this is another one with patchouli that actually works on me!

  7. This is one of the exceptions to my no patchouli rules. The first time I sniffed this, a friend was wearing it and I thought it was nice but nothing really special. Then, about a month ago, I got a decant of it in a package and decided to give it a shot. Wow. :D Luckily I managed to score a full bottle through a lovely forumite.

I don't get any gardenia, but the red fruits are amazing. I get just a subtle hint of the patchouli, lots of the pepper and what I am assuming is the rose musk.

I put it on a few hours ago and it's really going strong. I may have to start hunting down more bottles of this. :P

  8. I NEVER want to be without a bottle or two, or ten, of this. It's the most perfect sexy mix of incense and vanilla. I reach for this at least 2-3 times a week. I could slather myself in this and then stay in bed huffing myself all day. Umm..yeah, that sounded a bit dirtier than I meant it. :P

    Snake Oil is :D

    'nuff said.

  9. This is full of notes that I really love and I was totally excited to finally get an imp of it.

Yeah, well, this is one of the few that I had to wash off almost immediately. It smelled like sweaty gym socks.

Tried it again a couple of days later, just incase, same thing. Sweat. Ugh. :P

  10. I really thought I would love this. Vanilla is one of my weaknesses.

    *sigh*

It was way too sweet for me. Once it dried down, it smelled like that vanilla syrup that people put into coffee drinks. I didn't get any florals at all, just overly sweet fake vanilla. :P

  11. I'm new here. I've placed my first order and I read on the BPAL welcome page that I could check "shipped through" on the forum. Can someone tell me where I can find that?

I know I'll be waiting a while but I'm too excited not to check it every day! :D

    :P

Here is the link to the packed through page. Also, keep your eye on the Click n Ship thread, that gives you a rough idea of order dates that are currently being shipped out.

  12. FWIW, if I detected any vetiver in Lunar Eclipse, it wasn't enough to be worth mentioning. BUT! I also didn't get a lot of tobacco (which was a relief for me personally, but not so much when you're looking for it).

    Good to know.

And PhantasmMysteria, I have to say that I could probably watch your avatar animation for the better part of an hour. I think someone else mentioned that it is rather mesmerizing, and I have to agree!

    /hijack

    Hahaha...that was me. Mmmm...Capt.Tightpants *drool*

But..on topic, I had Lunar Eclipse and I personally don't think it come anywhere near what you mentioned. I didn't get much tobacco in it, I am not sure what I got, but sadly, it really didn't work for me. It's going to be a little while before I get my bottle of Smiling Spider (ordered it on the 29th), but I will totally report back.

  13. i love the smell of clove cigarettes (okay, whatever, i love clove cigarettes) and i love the hint of leather one gets from an old leather coat in the beginning of autumn. which, of course, leads to loving to smoke clove cigarettes while wearing my leather coat in the beginning of autumn.

Bumping this thread, because I am desperately in search of such a scent. I've seen Perversion recommended, and although it's a sweet tobacco scent, it doesn't capture that clove-y goodness, and I get no leather at all from it. I tried layering Perversion, De Sade, and some clove bud essential oil, and although that was yummy, it's not quite what I'm looking for, either. Have any new scents been introduced that capture the scent of clove cigarettes being smoked by someone in a leather jacket, with or without a hint of autumn (cold crisp air, dry leaves) in the background? Something without other fruits, flowers, cinnamon, or dragon's blood, ideally just a pure tobacco + clove + leather (preferably black leather), with a hint of smokiness.

Things I've tried: Perversion, March Hare, Port-au-Prince, Hellfire

Things I haven't tried yet: Three Witches, Blood, Blood Kiss, Blockbuster, French Creole, Formula 54, Dracul, Count Dracula

    Recommendations?

I was looking for the same and a couple of people recommended The Smiling Spider. I have a bottle on order and I'll report back once I actually get it. :P

  14. This is seriously amazing. So thick and black, like a couple of others said, it took quite a bit of rubbing for it to sink into my skin, but oh man, sooo worth it!

This is like dark choco dipped snake oil. I NEED to hoard many bottles of this one. I also think this will just get better and better as it ages. This is going straight onto my top ten list. :P

  15. I was looking for the perfect earl grey tea scent, and yes, this is it.

But, after wearing it I realized that as much as I love eral grey and love to sniff it in my cup, I don't like smelling like it.

But, if you want to smell like earl grey, buy this one, it really is a nice blend, just not for me.

  16. The black cherry, casis and cardamom are really amping on me. YUM! I do get a little of the patchouli, but thankfully not enough to bother me, and I don't get any of the verbena.

I am glad I took the chance and got a bottle. I like it quite a bit, but I probably won't be hoarding it.
