  1. I've never heard of attars before, but I agree that there must be some kind of carrier oil in the blends. Apart from lavender and tea tree oil, EO are way to strong to be directly applied to the skin. And since Beth is using 'bouquets' to recreate certain scnets, I think pure EO would be much too potent for such a subtle undertaking.

  2. Bright and juicy fruits, like squashed ripe raspberries where the juice is seeping out. There is initially a sharp edge to this, which reminds me of Pomegranate, but it's still very true to the actual fruit. After a while it softens up a lot and the sharp note disappears. It becomes sweet and almost creamy, a truly gorgeous scent!!! :P

  3. Ooh this is nice! The grapefruit is immediately there. Slightly bitter and I can really picture the white flesh of the fruit. It softens quickly though and becomes more soft and floral. This will be the apple blossom I presume, though it doesn't smell of apples at all. The white tea makes it all soft and powdery and I could have sworn there is white musk in this too.

Overall a very gentle scent and definitely white. This will be gorgeous in summer, when all you want is feeling cool and clean. It is a very pure and clean scent for sure.

  4. Noooo! Centzon Totochtin is so beautiful and the truest cherry scent I've found so far. Which is extremely weird, since there is no cherry in there. :D Black Phoenix was pure cherry/almond on me when first applied and then dried to weird floral/fruity/spicy scent combo. Complex indeed...

There damn well better not be any cherry in Centzon Totochtin. I'm expecting a bottle of it this week.

If it smells like cherry I will cry. :D

Well, I seem to be the only one on whom Blood smells like cherries. :P But if you don't like it, PM me! :D

  5. If you like Dana O'Shee, you'll love this. This is a very unique almond scent to be sure. It's not nutty, like real almond oil, but doesn't smell of marzipan either. It is more of a creamy quality, like almond milk, yet this is a very strong scent with a good throw. I think it's too strong for me to wear by itself, but I think it will be beautiful for layering.

  6. I have to disagree: This is a very true pomegranate to my nose. Maybe a bit sweeter and more candy-like than the original fruit, but the heart of the scent is spot on! Bright, fresh and juicy and so much nicer than Swank. :P

  7. Quoting myself from the Snake Oil tread:

Snake Oil is just amazing and I loved it from the second it touched my skin. There is such an exotic combo of sweet vanilla and spices that I would not have though possible. I love the fresh version to bits, though it's very intense and the tiniest drop smells strongly for hours on my skin. But I'm also intrigued by this whole aging debate. I will have to get an extra bottle to store and see if it changes at all.

Snake Oil is also perfect as a base for a solid perfume.  :P It is just mellowed down enough to be sensual and laid back rather than in-your-face-sexy. My favourite and my signature scent I think.  :D

  8. In the vial and first on my skin, this was nothing but nail polish remover. :P Really sharp and acrid. It mellowed down slightly, but was still way too artificial for me. I usually adore cherry scents and I really wanted to like this, but it just didn't agree with my chemistry. *sobs*

  9. This is a very complex scent, which morphed on me a lot. At first it's quite medicinal, but in a warm, sweet sense like sticky cogh syrup. Then I get a lot of different woody notes, but also rather warm than green. I think I can detect sweet sandalwood and dry myrrh. This is a very warm and reassuring scent and also quite masculine, almost fatherly if that makes sense? It's fairly strong too, so it'll be interesting to see what this is going to smell like in a few hours.

  10. Noooo! Centzon Totochtin is so beautiful and the truest cherry scent I've found so far. Which is extremely weird, since there is no cherry in there. :P Black Phoenix was pure cherry/almond on me when first applied and then dried to weird floral/fruity/spicy scent combo. Complex indeed...

  11. My nose or my skin chemistry must be all weird, because this smells almost exactly like Kabuki to me! :P Maybe a bit more floral, but I definitely get the spicy cherry scent that I get with Kabuki.

I expected this to be a lot more oriental and exotic, but it's still nice. I can't wait to finally try Morocco, if it is similar to this one. :D I have a tarted imp though, so no idea if the aging made any difference?

  12. This is my ultimate sexy scent! Very seductive with a sinister aura. The different notes are blended so well that it's hard to make them out.

Wet I get an almost herby scent, like throat lozenges with lemon and mint. But there is also something aquatic lurking in the background.

Overall it smells very beach like: saltwater, sand and a hint of coconut. :D The jasmine makes this even more exotic. Love it! :P

  13. My vote is for

Jack (very gourmand, fruit and warm spices)

Centzon Totochtin (beautiful cherry chocolate scent and very complex)

Nosferatu (again fruity and a lot of depth to it)

The Red Queen (foody/woody and quite misterious)

Cerberus (spicy cocoa, but in a dark sinister way, not sweet of foody)

Snake Oil (it doesn't morph a lot on me, but I still find it very gourmand and complex)

Sadly I never got to try Samhain or Dia de los Muertos. :P

  14. My skin just seems to eat up milk scents. :P

Out of the vial and at first on my skin all I could smell was lemon. It lightens up a bit and the ginger becomes really strong to the point where this is all I can smell. No creamy, milky goodness.

Like Alice, this is a bit softer when I have my period. Weird, huh?

  15. Weird scent. I find it really difficult to pick out any notes. When first applied it's sharp and bitter with a citrus note, almost like insect repellent.

When the fruits finally showed, they were very subtle and almost powdery. Not bright and juicy. They are kept in check by the florals mostly. There is something extremely familiar about this scent, but I just can't put my finger on it! Is there white musk in this?

It's very soothing and comforting somehow, like someone takes you into their arms and strokes your head after you've had a nightmare. This is a mother's scent.

Not really me I'm afraid, though it's a very pretty and light floral.
