  1. Morocco & Port-Au-Prince are my faves from the Wanderlust area. Morocco has carnation in it and I LOVE carnation. Port-Au-Prince is dead sexy and has a heavy clove note on me. I :P cloves!

    ETA:

I forgot about Paris...it's a lovely-sweet lavender scent. I never thought Lavender could be so "pretty", but this blend makes it downright adorable. It's not really a "me" scent, so I gave it to my daughter who loves it.

  2. I use Baku on my two eldest children (a little drop in some unscented lotion) before they go to bed at night. It's lovely cut with lotion. The anise chills out with no problems, leaving behind a bit of candy-like sweetness to the lavender. It's very soothing.

I will second the Sleepy Moon, if you like "floral-y" lavenders. I get a very strong poppy note in this blend and I adore it, but some peeps aren't too keen on it. However, my body chemistry amps most florals up up up, so take that with a grain of salt if you want.

  3. I'm going to second the Snake Charmer and Scherezade. However, I have to disagree on the O. Snake Oil and O are my top two of all time, and I know people like to draw comparisons; but to my nose (and I've smelled both on other people as well as myself) they have nothing in common other than being in the same gourmond family.

You may also want to try Smut, if you can find some as there have been several comparisons drawn between it and Snake Oil and Scherezade.

I also seem to recall some people who cannot wear Snake Oil can wear Golden Priapus. It's a masculine blend, but on my husband it smells a lot like Snake Oil should (Snake Oil does strange things on his skin from time to time).

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me on that rec. THX.

  4. I like lushiejane's comparison of this to Silky Underwear. It's gorgeous.

For thos of you looking for a light, airy coconut scent...look no further. This is downright gorgeous.

In the bottle: Milky coconut. I get a bit of the aquatic note at this point. This is so pretty. Can't wait to slather.

On me (wet): Coconut!! Creamy, sweet (but not overly so) coconut. The aquatic and other notes are in the background, waiting their turn patiently.

Drydown: Mmm...shea and seriously complex milky coconut with an aquatic base running through....This scent conjures up the image of beautiful Jamaican boy standing on a beach, wearing all white.

Overall: Perfect for summer...heck, I think this might work year-round. It's SO beautiful and comforting..yet sensual enough to feel sexy in. I'll be buying more of this. Gorgeous!!

  5. Xiuhtecuhtli is awesome in the summer months and it has great staying power on me. Sleepy Moon and Opium Poppy (Rappacini's Garden) are both great florals for this time of year. O and Snake Oil are both summer faves of mine as they both stay very close to the skin on me. Embalming Fluid is great, but Dorian has a ton of throw on me so I haven't been able to do it when it gets hella hot. Perhaps some of the new Excolos might be nice. I've heard great things about Obatala and Yemaya. They are both supposed to be light and fruity. Hubby wears a lot of Severin (and Embalmig Fluid) since it got much hotter. If you're looking for a rather dirty tea scent, Severin is great. Nice staying power too.

  6. I just got a Roadhouse partial in an Ebay lot and Emma likes it - dandelions! It's all dandelion on her the way Asphodel seems to go all new, spring grass on her for some reason.

Aw! I wish my DD smelled like dandelions with Roadhouse. On her, it's all hops and canabis, LOL! Not really the scent for a 5 year old.

I had my DD do her "Top Ten" for the board tonight...here goes:

    1. Alice

    2. Asphodel

    3. Paris

    4. Tiger Lily

    5. Desdemona

    6. Dana O'Shee (She thinks this smells like the Almond Cookies we get from the Chinese Take Out Place)

    7. Baku

    8. Dragon's Eye (sorry, I knew it was something to do with the eye. Edited from "Dragon's Tears)

    9. Muse

    10. Phantom Queen (She loves this and thinks it makes her smell all "grown up")

Anytime I smell an imp and go, "Ooh, so pretty, but way to girly" it goes to her. She loves to smell pretty. She's too young for her own bottle because she just hasn't grasped the "putting things away" thing yet. She's got Goth Rosary Lotion and Perfume spray in Tea and Sympathy (smells a lot like Alice, but stronger on the rose and no carnation) and she's doing okay with that, but she needs to grow up a bit before she can keep imps in her jewelry boxes and the like.

  7. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! I adore it and I would not call myself a "floral" person. I'm mostly gourmond and "slightly sullied hippie".

    Anyway, on with the review...

In the bottle: This is pure poppy in the bottle (at least to my nose). It is sharp, yet ever so sleepy. It is very similar to the poppy in Sleepy Moon that I adore so much.

Wet: This is overwhelmingly fresh poppy to my nose. If it were a color, it would be screamingly vibrant red. There is something even more sinister underneath, however...

Drydown: Oh, this is the stuff. The vibrancy of this scent chills out quite a bit and mellows into a very smokey, spicey poppy. This goes very "lazy" and "sleepy" on me. However, it is not a "bedtime scent". No, this is a bedroom-eyed flower; but the plans for the bedroom have very little to do with sleep. This scent belongs to a sexy woman who is never rushed, but whose sarcastic wit can cut through flesh and right to the bone.

OVerall: I have this in 5mL and I adore it. It is, by far, my favorite BPAL floral (aside from Sleepy Moon). I get comments from both men and women no matter where I wear this. While this is a sexy scent, it is fresh enough for everyday wear. I highly recommend it.

  8. Now, I asked my hubby b/c what he thinks smells like sex is way different than what I think smells like sex...

He, of course, mentioned O right off the bat. I wear it a lot; it's my fave BPAL.

After that, Bathsheba is a close sexond (yes, I left the typo b/c I think it's fargin' hysterical). It's good for summertime.

For some reason, something in Dorian makes me think about how a sweet-smellin' lad (like my fancy-boy) smells post-coitus. It's slightly sweet, slightly tart, a little sticky, there is a little bit of acridity (is that a word) from the tea and there is the yummy light musk throughout.

  9. I'll second the Katharina, Alice and the Dorian, for sure. Although, Dorian does have a bit of a "bite" to it that is just a tinge masculine (probably the fougere). Alice is very innocently flirty...it's kind of like, "Oh, did I do that? *feigned wide-eyes* I'm sorry." Katharina, to me, is more of a fighting/flirting kind of feel. You know...those fiesty debates you get into with a sesky dude where a lot of sexual tension gets brewed. Jailbait might be fun too.

  10. Fallen is closer to a woody floral than a musky one on my skin, which is strange b/c my body amps musk in most cases.

I'm going to throw another vote in the Scherezade vein. Coyote goes very powdery on me, whereas Scherezade remains a deep, slightly spicey and sweet (not foody), musk. It's very pretty.

    Oh, and one more possibility...

Hellfire: "A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass."

I'm not a big fan of the BS oils, although I did wear Dewberry for a while in college, so I am by no means an expert here. Just kind of looking around for what you described...good luck!
