  1. (this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.)

imp: gin with a twist of tangerine, very crisp!

wet: this smells like it would be a delicious drink. it's gin-heavy but it's also fruit-heavy. the tangerine is lovely while the guava and passionfruit are more subtle.

dry: the gin softens beautifully but i still get whiffs of it's crisp piney-ness against the sweet fruit.

  2. (this is my review of the gc version of this scent, my original review is here.)

imp: very sweet and fruity, not exactly papaya though.

wet: very fizzy soda with a tropical fruit feel. not getting much specific fruit though.

dry: this doesn't smell like gin at all, my sweeter and less crisp. the fruit is a hint, nice and subdued.

  3. imp: black berry booze and tea. yummy!

wet: this is a lovely blackberry tea scent. it smells only slightly spicy, yet i get no anise from it.

dry: lovely. this has softened and warmed to the most delicious tea and fruit scent, not strongly blackberry just rich fruit. will be getting a bottle.

  4. imp: cranberry and gin. i love gin and this does not disappoint and a lovely gin scent.

wet: this has a very nice gin bite to it as it hits my skin, very realistic. not getting anything close to mango or mint, it's gin and cranberry with a dash of raspberry.

dry: bright cranberry and gin with the occasional hint of raspberry. this reminds me of the hamptons once dry, but it's a bit more sharp, more boozy rather than a refined alcohol.

  5. imp: banana and coconut. this smells yummy and i've already decided that i will be buying a bottle of this scent.

wet: glorious! this is what creepy would be like if it had banana instead of apple. the grenadine is faint but every once in a while i catch a distinct whiff of it and it's beautiful.

dry: this is very sweet grenadine over a rich banana-coconut scent once dry. this morphs quite a bit but i love every phase and can't wait to get a bottle so i can wear this as often as the mood strikes me.

  6. bottle: delicious, watery coconut.

wet: i don't think this smells at all like snow white, though i did get a coconut/floral vibe from snow white, this is closer to obatala. this is soft, watery young coconut, not the old shredded stuff. the florals make this bright a sunny fresh.

dry: this just lasts and lasts and lasts. still bright coconut, vibrant florals and that sweet watery feel make this a new favorite. i think i see a back-up bottle in my future.

  7. bottle: beautiful clove! reminds me of the winter of our discontent from 2006, that sort of clove. :yum:

wet: on my skin, this is very similar to the winter of our discontent. this is a bit creamier, not quite as spicy but i'm very surprised at how similar they smell.

dry: this dries to soft woods, clove and creamy sandalwood. so beautiful, i wish i'd picked up a second bottle.

  8. well, snake oil and dorian seem like obvious choices. they are very widely popular and while i don't go as nuts for them as most people, i think they are good choices. my personal choices would be things like bordello, shub-niggurath, carnal & kabuki. i might even offer shango (it's the oil that's given me the most compliments from complete strangers).

i stuck with general catalog scents because if someone likes one of the scents you send along it's gonna be far easier for them to get more than to try to track down a limited edition.

  9. it's probably nothing to worry about but if you are concerned just e-mail customer service and bill will let you know what is up. they have the friendliest customer service people ever. :D

though, just to give you an idea, when i first got into bpal in 2006, it took 5 1/2 weeks for them to even harvest my order. it was a solid two months from the day i ordered before it actually arrived. when i read your post and saw it had been 17 days i suddenly remembered how it used to be and am appreciative of how much they've improved the turn around time, it's nice to get an order in only a few weeks.

  10. imp: very crisp, brash aquatic. it's difficult to smell anything else.

wet: much more woodsy that i would have expected at first sniff. plus the aquatic, while very strong, is not overpowering. i actually find myself sniffing my wrist and liking this scent.

dry: this is far more grassy than aquatic as it dries and i like it much better in the dry stage. the woods are faint but a nice undertone.

  11. bottle: this is very lovely ginger, amber and pumpkin with a touch of mandarin.

wet: the mandarin and pumpkin warm up as this touches my skin, a lovely sweet, yet not over-sweet, scent. i can even catch a bare hint of mango. the amber is a bottom note here and the ginger adds enough spice to make this fresh and crisp instead of cloying.

dry: this is a less buttery pumpkin than any other the the lab's pumpkin scents i've tried. i think it's the resin of the mango that keeps this from getting a little too foody. the mandarin has faded completely but the ginger is still right there making this a bright pumpkin and ginger scent backed by amber. very lovely, it will have a place of honor in my pumpkin scents.

  12. bottle: very spicy cardamom. i get very little in the way of musk or vanilla.

wet: if you love cardamom (and i do!), then this blend is for you. it's well-blended with both the vanilla and tonka to make a creamy, spicy treat on my skin. i usually amp musk pretty strongly but this is so well blended, the musk is not taking over.

dry: as this dries the cardamom fades a bit and the musk takes it's place. still, very lovely musk and vanilla scent with touch of spicy cardamom.

  13. Anyone ever had *this* happen? I placed an order for 3 bottles last week. Just now realized I never got the CC now email I always get, and haven't been charged either. I *KNOW* I placed the order, because I felt super guilty, when I hit submit. I remember typing in my cc number and everything! I emailed the lab but haven't heard back yet...

every once in a while ccnow will not send me an order confirmation. but you can easily go to their site and look up the order details anyway so it's not a big deal. plus, ccnow will only do a reservation of funds when you place the order, you are actually charged when the lab "harvests" the order. hope that helped a bit.

  14. bottle: sweet and berry-ish with some pastry. very cold and clean for a foody scent.

wet: sorta cherry, sorta raspberry. hard to pinpoint the berry-ish-ness here. the pastry is very light, not cloying of strong, but still there.

dry: pretty much yum. the berry is a bit less sweet as this dries so this transforms into the most lovely fresh berry tart scent. i might be needing another bottle of this.

  15. I, too, am on a huge lime kick. I'm thinking of ordering Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues. Can anyone who has tried it tell me how strong is the lime?

you can tell it's there but it's not the strongest note. it's balanced pretty well.
