  1. For my wedding here in prvence, instead of a wedding cake we had a pièce montée (also known as croquembouche) with a bunch of cream puffs assembled to form a castle. The walls were flat pepieces of nougat. I saved a piece of nougat that had our names on it in the freezer for a year. On our first anniversary, i took it out, and it had gone bad, rancid. A sticky sweet slightly off smell ( and taste). We had to throw it away.

This, unfortunately, is what this scent reminds me of - rancid nougat. Sorry.

  2. Strong smell of roses in the imp. I couldn't wait to try, so i layered it over red lantern, which i profusely applied for the day. Anyway, this reminds me of mourning lace for some reason. Warm, spicy, roses. Not picking up much tea yet, but will have to try again on fresh skin. Very nice so far.

eta: someone said this smelled very musky & sensual.

I don't think it smells at all musky but whatever.
On fresh skin it is very much spicy roses. Freshly applied, it reminded me of something, which i finally pinned down as gingerbread. Strange

    I would say 85% rose, 10% spice, 5% tea.

  3. I'm surprised at myself for not jumping on this when it was released, as i love beeswax/ candle scents like Lights of mens' lives and candles moon. Anyway, i really like it, but it isn't as strong of a beeswax smell as those, more of a smokier scent.

  4. An itch that needs to be scratched: Snake Oil and three types of honey.

I wasn't a big fan of this when it first came out, but my love for honey and snake oil has since expanded, and now I wish this was re-released every year.

  5. oh god, jasmine blast!! It is pretty much all I smell. I was hoping for a lot more fig, but no.

This reminds me of something else, I think Melisande the puppet mistress with jasmine sambac?

Don't buy unless you are a big jasmine fan.

  6. This is very sweet when first applied, almost cloying. It settles down to occasional whiffs of apple, but no brown sugar, helas. Very good for early fall.

Forgot to say- I think there must be some apple-scented ACID in this because applied to neck or inside of elbow it BURNS. Had to wash it off due to pure agony, and had red skin afterwards. Use with caution.

  7. Too much snow and not enough yellow. Too bad, I was hoping this would be the perfect counterpart to pink snowballs, which in my opinion has a much lighter snow scent.

This causes my husband to wrinkle his french nose and proclaim "sumting smelz beezar"

  8. I bought this a long time ago and I found it too cloying, so it languished in my swaps. I got a mini of the bath oil from a lovely switch witch. I like the bath oil and the perfume oil is growing on me. It is light and sweet. Perhaps it just needed to age a few years.

  9. Anyone remember the commercial from the 90's I think it was, for the cereal Nut N' Honey? This is what this scent reminds me of. Very strong nut and honey.

Get almost no cherries nor berries, and no pine needles thank god. Just a warm fuzzy scent. Perfect for when it is raining out.

  10. This is an amazing winter scent. Slightly masculine. Very long lasting, very original. Fabulous aged a few years. Mostly a smoky leather with maybe a hint of vanilla and wood?

  11. I have used this off and on ever since I started BPAL in 2007. It was one of my first bottle purchases in fact, along with Pumpkin 3 2007 and Gingerbread Poppet 2007.

Not much to say about this that hasn't already been said.

Fresh, it is way too medicinal for me, but aged a few years is amazing.

Oh, and I have to be careful where I apply it because otherwise it burns and irritates, like on my neck for example.

Reading about Snake Oil Bath Oil, I dumped a 2010 Snake Oil bottle in a body oil mist that I have, and richly covered myself this morning when I got out of the shower. It smells great, like Snake Oil coming from my pores. I wish I had bought 12 bottles or so per year and stockpiled them away so that I would have properly aged bottles now (preferably at least 2 years before using).
