  1. A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.

It can't be that I'm the first to review this!

To my nose this is exactly like my Snow White perfume oil.
Do you love Snow White? This is perfect for you. Even if you are not one of Snow White's devotees, this particular spray is a very good choice. The room smells nice and soft and sort of virginal and girly. I love it. It's perfect "Snow White" and totally inoffensive. It just makes your room smell divine.
Makes me happy. I'll be buying more of this for sure.

  2. Ohhh I think I have to add my new 'red musk' finding: Lady Lilith.

I know she is not as popular as Lilith Victoria, but I find Lady Lilith a slow-burning fire. It grows on you.

It's gorgeously fruity red musk to me, so neddykapoozle this is my recommendation to your above post. Although it was just discontinued, I think it won't be too hard to track some down.

  3. I cannot add anything that has not already been said, as far as the scent description goes.

Having worn it a lot though, I want to say this: SGA is not "my" type of scents as I love "red", musky, spicy blends that entice you to come closer. SGA is a cold, hands-off type of scent (to my nose) and for this reason it's absolutely, awesomely wearable (and advisable?) in certain circumstances. For instance you can totally go into a meeting, or a full classroom or a business appointment, wearing SGA. It's inoffensive enough but still makes its' presence known and projects the "I'm a female professional, take me seriously" type of image.

Gorgeous blend, very wearable and I'm glad I have a bottle and a half, of this.

  4. As all Salon blends, this is quite complex and wonderfully blended.

I have concluded, though, that I amp red musk as this is the dominant note to my nose. Not like Scherezade's, but a fuitier red musk, it must be the mandarin that gives it that feel. I can also recognise the violet, from a perfume I wore years ago, but it is very subdued and a background player.

I can't distinguish the tea note or the vanilla, but I bet it's what rounds up the blend and smooths it down.

No rose that I can detect of, so rose-haters fear not.

A wonderful blend, I'll be keeping my bottle, but I'm more in love with Lilith Victoria.

ETA: I just wanted to add, that in the few days that I've had it, contrary to what I thought, I keep reaching for the bottle, particularly when around the house. Might we have a slow-burning flame here?

  5. I took a chance on this one, because I don't like lavender and the feelings are mutual. Also although I don't know what fennel smells like, I'm not too eager to smell like it.

Sniffing out of the bottle it's LAVENDER, LAVENDER and then some. I'm scared even to try it, but if there's SO and Dorian in there, surely it must be nice at least.

Wet on my skin it's still lavender but already a bit softer.

A few minutes on, I can sniff Dorian's tea, along a hint of something a bit flowery? I'm already warming up to this scent.

As it dries down lavender is really subued and I can get a bit of the soft throw of aged SO, not intense like when it's new.

My overall feeling is of wonderful, soft, quiet blend. I have the feeling Lilith Victoria is her Daddy's girl as I mostly get the soft tea, and exquisite musks of Dorian. SO is there as the base, the "cement" that binds all this love together.

An exquisite and eminently wearable scent. Hoard-worthy.

The bottle art is lovely, too: a little girl in red riding cape and hat, holding a few playing cards in her hand like Mme Moriarty does in her bottle. I love the symbolism, for Mommy's girl too.

  6. Honey SN to my nose and on my skin doesn't smell like actual honey to me. At least not like what honeys that we have here smell like.

The SN smells the way honey feels, if that makes sense. Very warm and sticky and dangerously close to cloying. Like eating a spoonful of honey.

Strangely enough, a very popular variety of honey, here, smells more like Honey Moon because of the thyme in there (most popular variety of honey is the one from bees feeding on thyme).

So yes, SN honey would be very good for rounding and sweetening some blends, but I don't think I could wear it alone.

  7. Chrysanthemum Moon is my nr 1 bpal ever, but not until reading this thread had I realised there's red musk in there. One of those d'uh! moments :D

I get ginger and the whiff of opium and a spicy feeling. In any event it's drop-dead-GORGEOUS! :P

  8. I love Red Musk, too.

My recs are : Marianne :D , Scherezade , The Ifrit :P and Red Moon 2007 (older LE).

I'll be hoarding a lot of Marianne before she leaves town.

There's something in Mme Moriarty that makes me not like it at all, but I am in a very very small minority here. I think you should try it though.

Also Krampus was a very nice, a bit more masculine, red musk blend.

ETA:Bolded the names, took off an emoticon or two. Sometimes I go crazy with them.

  9. Sadly this didn't work at all. Pickled Imp is a simple mix of cinnamon, clove and vanilla, but something is off with the vanilla here.. it has a somewhat 'plastic suntan lotion' tinge to it. That's the only way I can describe it. I love spicy/cinnamon scents (Shub, Plunder, etc), but I'm actually going to dissent and say I really don't enjoy Pickled Imp too much, but the concept and art = great.

    What Josh said.

I love cinnamon, clove, spice blends. But this one just doesn't do it for me. It's very much like Gingerbread Poppet, either to my nose or on my skin. To me it's a foody scent and totally not "me". :P

  10. Oh.My.Goddess! :D

This is amazing! Fabulous, like a woman who is sure of herself and knows her own worth. Exquisite, like the pain of being in love.

This is like Laureen Bacall kissing Humphrey Bogart in a streetcorner, at night, her hair illuminated by the streetlight, her face in the shadow of his hat.

It's not for everyday use, not only for its' scarcity but also because it deserves and demands to be worn for special occasions.

White shirt worn tight under a black pencil skirt, black peep toes with cuban heel backseam stockings and Noir. :D :P

Thank you naughteblonde for swapping me the imp of this truly remarkable blend. ;) It will be one of my treasures.

Mme Moriarty, this is a masterpiece of perfume-making. :) Thank you for creating it. Please bring it back some day.

ETA:To add my plea to all the others.

  11. It really does smell like the male counterpart of Glowing Vulva.

Quite similar, sans the cloying/sweet begining of GV. In its place there's something almost metallic, but not quite, it irritates me up in my nose a little.

This smells like a distinguished old-er gentleman, to me. I am reminded, again and again, of a brand of soaps (English?) that used to be available a long time ago : Imperial Leather, in a polygon shape, with red and white paper wrapping. I haven't smelled this for ages now, but it keeps popping up into my mind.

I like this scent a lot, the drydown is fabulous, woody and just a little sweet, but all this for a (middle-aged? older? classic?) man.

I am glad to have some Glowing Vulva because I want to smell like a female, most of the time.

ETA: I think I am going to be buying this as present for male friends, because it's the effing Antikythera Mechanism people!!!!! How much closer can it get to home? :P

  12. Sniffing this out of the imp and wet it's almost a citrus-y musk.

A bit later on the citrusy smell tones down and it is a softer, golden scent, a bit like amber or musk.

It smells more masculine to my nose, I would looove my guy to smell like this, I'd be all over him.

This single note is quite complex I think, when I first sniffed it I thought of Ecstasy-Passion (was it included in there?)

I love love love it a lot, sadly I need to sacrifice it for another very very very hard to find bpal.

  13. I was soooo looking forward to trying this!

First sniff in the imp it is something sharp and a bit fruity (?) although there is no fruit listed. Could this be the ginger?

Wet on my skin it's still sharp, intense, musky, slightly sweet and a tiny bit spicy.

As it dries I get more sweet musk. I love this stage!

Later on it has mellowed down quite a bit and now it's a soft, powdery, almost airy blend. I love it!

I put this on last night before going to bed and I was sure I was reminded of some other blend. Kept thinking of all the wrong ones (Anactoria, V.Q.) but this morning it hit me! Red Moon 2007! I no longer have my RM07 bottle to compare and confirm, but I really really think that Ifrit is very similar to RM07, which I liked a lot, but somehow never got to wear. The Ifrit is more mellow and much more wearable. I love it and will probably get a bottle. My only qualm is that it's not too summer-y (well at least not for our scorching hot summers) so I may save this for early Fall.

ETA: The more I test this, the more I like it. I have also decided, that it can also be worn during the not-heat-wave-days of Summer.

I've tracked down a bottle and will be trying to buy/swap for more, this is going to be hoarded, yeahhh!! :P
