  1. I don't have much new to add - this is a clean, pink floral scent, very springy and happy. While it may be reminiscent of high end shampoo, it's so much better than that. In fact, the shampoo vibe allows me to wear Hanami where I may not be able to pull of "weird" scents such as foody smells. Whenever I want to smell good but have people smelling me chalk it up to my hair/bath stuff, I wear Hanami. It has a pretty strong throw and wearlength to boot.

  2. This smells completely delicious in the imp - sweet, almost bubblegum-like fruit. I was just sniffing a pile of imps not intending to test, but that scent drew me in with its fruity loveliness.

On me, this is almost single note sweet tangerine, with just a hint of florals. It keeps trying to tiptoe towards soapy territory, but it's not making it there, which is good. The tangerine note is quite realistic and very lovely, and it certainly is creamy. If this had stayed the same on me as the delectable scent in the bottle, then this may have been a bottle purchase. As is, I'll happily use up my imp.

  3. Tomoe Gozen is a bit strange on me - I'm going to blame the honey. I can definitely smell the pink pepper, but the rest of the notes combine into this sort of weird honeyed floral fruitiness. I think it would be awesome if it was just the currant, blackberry, and amber. Those were the notes I was most hoping to get, but I think I have to finally accept the fact that honey is a note of doom on me. It turns fruits and florals into just...something weird on me.

  4. So. Much. ALMOND!

Wet, this is screechingly cherry-almond. As it dries, it's improving for sure; the almond is calming down and I smell something akin to a powdery vanilla - very reminiscent of Antique Lace, one of my favorite blends. The almond/vanilla mix is very lovely and feminine; it makes me think of a proper Victorian lady enjoying some equally dainty almond cookies or something. The scent continues to smell more and more like Antique Lace as it dries. If I run out of AL, this may work as a sort-of substitute.

  5. I normally don't do florals, but there's something about Asian floral blends that works out exceedingly well for me. Jingu is a very soft and fruity floral, sort of like a gentler cousin to Hanami. I can definitely smell the plum blossom, but I can't really pick out any other notes, just a general soft prettiness. A keeper!

Edit: I forgot to mention that this scent is really faint, and that it lasted for less than an hour on me :(. That tends to be par for the course with delicate Asian florals on me though, with the exception of Hanami.

  6. On me, this is watermelon + gardenia. I can't decide if I like the combination; it's definitely much better than I expected it to be, but it's just got this weird pseudo-aquatic vibe to it. It's very sweet, but the gardenia keeps it from being truly candy-like. The melon reminds me of Earth Rat/Earth Ox, but I much prefer those to this.

  7. Red currant, molasses, vanilla cream, moss, and patchouli.

This was probably 70% patchouli, 25% moss, and 5% everything else on me. Maybe my bottle forgot about the gnome and is instead the scent of a lawn? Because that's all I smell - dirty, stinky patchouli and moss.

I knew that the patchouli was a risk going in, but when I see "vanilla cream" in a blend it always makes me ignore doom notes and hope for a yummy vanilla scent. Maybe next time!

  8. Whatever is making those marshmallows pink is what's dominant on my skin. When first applied, it smells not unlike Midway, but then it takes on a much pinker, almost fruity tone. I want to say it's akin to cherry, but not nearly as strong a cherry as, say, Suck It. Sadly, it ends up smelling like a very sweet cherry hard candy when I was hoping for a marshmallow-dominant scent.

  9. This feels like it should be in the same line as the Atomic Luau Lounge scents - very fruity and fizzy. It smells more like a fruity beverage than a basket of fruits.

However, something quickly makes this smell like soap on my skin. Very fruity, fizzy soap, but soap nonetheless. I'm thinking it may be the blueberry, as Crawdad Dreams sometimes tries to do that on me but the other notes hold it in check.

  10. Eek, I get rose from this too - it's a sweet honeyed rose with a hint of some sort of fruit, possibly cherry as the person above me mentioned. It's...interesting, but I'm not a rose fan. Also, there's something about it that feels almost medicinal; not that I get a medicinal smell per se, but the cloying honey whatnot is making me think of cough drops.

  11. This makes me think of the gooey marshmallow topping you can get in some ice cream shops - sweet and goopy and freakin' delicious. On me, it's a pretty even mix of the spun sugar (which comes across like marshmallows), cotton, and cream. I adore how they mix - the cotton note makes it feel clean and non-foody. It's like lounging on some freshly washed white sheets while surrounded by a bunch of white marshmallows - not that I've done such a thing! :)

Pondering a bottle of this one. It's tasty and seems like it would layer with one of my many "fruit" scents really well.

  12. This was the new Mad Tea Party scents that I was most excited about, even though I'm usually not a floral gal. Someone upthread mentioned that it reminded them of sugar flowers on a cake, and that's totally what I think of too! Specifically, small pink sugared flowers on a dainty white cake. This scent is a very light sweet floral. I can see why some compare it to Agape; on me, it's similar to Agape but without the apple. It has very little throw but it does seem to last for a while.

Cute! I may pick up a bottle down the line sometime.

  13. Nonae Caprotina is delicious! For me, the fig is dominant, and it's quite delicious. The milk sweetens the fig and makes it ridiculously creamy. I haven't seen anybody mention it in the thread, but I sort of see a similarity to Monsterbait: Closet in that it's a dark fruit note paired with a foody note (milk/cake). Nonae seems a bit lighter than Closet though, so more appropriate for summer; despite that, it has decent throw and staying power. I slathered it on before heading in to work this morning and can still smell some faint traces six hours later.

I really do like it, but I don't think I'm going to pick up a bottle simply because probably 80% of my BPAL is a dark fruit + foody/candy scent. Still, I will savor the decant.

  14. I like fig, date, and currant, but dark herbs...not so much.

In the imp: This smells like a dentist's office. If this continues on my skin, I'm going to have to wash it off immediately.

On me: Ugh. It's all herbs, all the time. The dentist's office smell is still there, though it's maybe a bit milder. It's very sharp and just...not my thing. I suppose it's all well and good, because I would have felt strange telling people that I was wearing Gomorrah.

  15. Finally, a summer scent! My "reach into the testing bag and pull out a random imp" strategy was not paying off, as I got Halloweenie after Halloweenie. In June.

Anyway, SSS smells...strange. It's definitely very grassy and sweet. I don't get any coffee or incense. Also, it's not grassy like a freshly-mown lawn, it's grassy like a meadow - I picture a field of long yellowish grass. I don't think I said grass enough in the previous sentence. Anyway, while this is definitely summery, maybe an August scent, it's not my thing.

  16. I could have sworn I had already reviewed this O_o. *blink*

...OK, I'm back. I found it! I had mentioned in another thread that I hate Samhain on my skin, but the apple comes out more in a burner and smells really nice. That was for the 2007 version.

The 2008 version does behave better on my skin - I can smell apple, but it's sort of buried in smoke and a sort of medicinal smell. It makes my nose tingle a little bit. I think this one will also be a candidate for my tart burner, because my skin does not play nice with the notes.

  17. djsiberia, I feel exactly the same way. I look at the notes now and I'm like "Why did I get this one again?"

On me, this is a very crisp apple with a hint of...florals? I amp apple, so that's mostly what I'm getting from this. VERY crisp, very reminiscent of autumn - which feels a bit strange as it's the middle of June and I'm sitting here in shorts and a tank top!

It's very lovely, but I think I have enough apple scents to last me a lifetime (<3 Punkie Night!).

  18. Wet on me: It's a musky gingerbread cookie! I like this a lot more than I expected to. I think the name had me expecting the scent to be...not so nice, because really, who thinks a flesh-eating reindeer smells good?

As it dries, I can detect pretty much all of the notes, but this is REALLY well-blended. It's quite spicy and musky without being foody. It just gets spicier and spicier as it dries, but unlike most spicy scents, it's not CINNAMON. It's definitely got a Christmas vibe to it as well. I think I'll bust out this decant for any fun Christmas parties I attend in the future.

  19. First thought upon sniffing the imp: Hmm, this smells like my boyfriend. It's pure, unadulterated cologne.

On me, it lightens up a bit, and a hint of florals peeks out - I assume that's the flirty perfume. The florals are nice, but they definitely take a backseat to the cologne.

I think this is going to sneak into my boyfriend's tiny collection of imps. I'll just tell him that the notes are just like his cologne.

Edit: Okay, I'm stealing it back from my boyfriend. It took over an hour, but NYEID dried down to a lovely light floral perfume. Definitely hanging onto it for those times when I need to smell feminine yet sophisticated.

  20. Mine is number LXXXIX. It's almost pronouceable :P.

Disclaimer: I tried an imp of O about a billion times and finally gave up on it. It just wasn't good on me like it is on so many. I thought maybe a few other ingredients might help, similar to how some people love the Snake Pit but hate Snake Oil.

On me: There's something sinus-clearing in this. Yep, it smells exactly like Vicks Vaporub. I don't smell any honey or anything else, and now my nose is tingling. Good thing I just got a decant!

  21. Gelt

In the imp, this is bowl-you-over strong fake chocolate. Reminds me a lot of Bliss, actually, which smelled like warm brownies at first but got too cloying after a while.

On me, It's still 90% chocolate, but the amber is starting to come out a bit. The result is kind of strange to me, an almost metallic chocolate. It's like someone dropped some coins into a mug of hot chocolate. X_x

Verdict: I keep trying chocolate scents in the hope that they'll work on me as well as Candy Butcher did, but this one is a no-go.

  22. As a lover of fruits and carnations, I couldn't not order a decant!

In the imp and on me, this is a peach wine cooler, straight up. No florals or anything else, just sweet juicy boozy strong peach. Sadly, it doesn't have a ton of staying power. Definitely a summer scent - I could see wearing this to an outing in the park or something similar.

  23. Ahhh...I open the imp and the beloved BPAL plum note that I love so much from Bordello, Midwinter's Eve, and other scents comes wafting out. It's very juicy and sweet for sure. On my skin, it's still mostly plum, but now there's an added powdery edge to it - I assume from the champaca?

The longer I wear this, the less plum I get and the more powdery, perfume-y it becomes. I wish it had remained the juicy plum I smelled in the vial! I think this is a good candidate for my oil burner.
