    The Scales of Deprivation

I'm getting mostly sage with a slight citrus tang. Slightly woodsy, masculine..the throw is moderate at first but then disappears.

    TKO

    This starts out as beautiful herbal lavendar and then fades down to sweet fluffy vanilla lavendar. I love it, and find it relaxing, perhaps a new staple in my bottlte box, but it did not help my insomnia...;_;

    Belle Vinu

This has surprisingly grown on me. Sandlewood and peach, but there's a slight hint of vanilla and something that could be the rose. It's unique and evokes the character very well.

    Intrigue

Light fig, something slightly fruity, a whisper of wood...this scent is quiet and subtle in every way. It stays extremely close to the skin with little to no throw.

    Poisoned Apple

This is a fresh granny smith apple at first, but it gets sweeter as it dries...and then some slightly sinister herbs come out, adding an earthiness that literally screams "poisoned apple". This scent matches the concept perfectly. I'm in love.

    The Miller's Daughter

Rose and amber and something sweetly metallic. Slightly powdery combination. Strong and has a good throw on my skin.

    De Sade

This is a good, solid leather note. It stays consistent from application to drydown. It's a comforting, smoky, masculine scent, but it's not really my style and I can think of other blends I'd prefer on a guy.

    Whip

I wanted this one to be rose and leather love, but sadly it's all rose on me. Maybe age will strengthen the leather note..

    Bensiabel

This is an odd combination, fruit and leather, kind of a smokey woodsmoke effect when wet, then dries down to a sweet lilac-y plum. I prefer Bathsheba for plum though.

    Manhattan

This is mostly bright citrus tea, powdery, with something floral in there. There is leather in this too but it's practically non detectable to my nose.

    Samhain

This is for the '09 version. This is pretty, crisp pine needles...and what? Underneath that is a layer of something that smells like cat pee. It's faded slightly now that it's dry, but whoa. I'm going to age this bottle a little and see if it takes the edge off whatever that note is. Gah. Edit: A wonderful forumer sent me a sniffie of the 07 version of Samhain. It's really lovely, spicey and woodsey and smokish and herbal with that note that has the potential to smell like cat pee smoothed down bye what I'm assuming is age. The only note I can name in here is cinnamon. Overall it's incredible and I can see why this is so popular. I may have to rethink getting my hands on a bottle of this.

    Pomona

Wet, this is a buoyant hazelnut, and as it dries, a clear, fresh apple emerges. The berries add a slightly juicy, rich feel and the nuts stay in the background, tempering the apple. It's a very delicious without being overly food apple scent, and I'm glad I have a bottle.

    Under the Harvest Moon

I get the musks at first and then the lavendar stage as well, as another reviewer mentioned. This has a light, crystalline feel, high and slightly powdery. It evokes a very understated, subtle vein of sadness and regret.

    Black Butterfly Moon

This is really pretty and dark. I'm getting mostly night blooming flowers with some woodmoss. It reminds me a lot of Lune Noire.

    Boo

I got a bottle of Boo right away, thinking I'd love it. But it took a little getting used to. It's pretty and sweet and clean...there's a slight plastic impression I get from what's supposed to be the "cream"...but it seems to tone down a bit after drydown. It's gotten smoother and better with a little aging... In short, I didn't like Boo at first but it's really grown on me. Might even need a few backup bottles.

    Queen Gertrude

I like this one. Violet and wisteria is a good combination.

    Phobos

This reminds me a lot of Absinthe without the anise. It's pretty and I think lemon lovers will roll their eyes in scent ecstasy, haha.

    Lolita

This smells really good to me. It's fairly true to the lab description, being sweet, spicey, floral, and fruity.

    No. 93 Engine

I can't describe or pick out this swirl of notes, but oh hey, there's the hot metal again. That's going to become a deal breaker for me. Sigh.

    Phoenix Steamworks

Burnished gold and oiled bronze notes with Abramelin incense and sage. I like the sage and herbal-ish quality, but there's that distinct hot metal note in here that rather bothers me. Pass. edited to add lab description.

    Zephyr

Citrusy light florals, like fresh laundry.
  22. topazphoenix

    Les Infortunes de la Vertu

Orange blossom and leather with a hint of amber. Nomnomnomnomnomnomnom.

    Hymn to Proserpine

This is lovely. Such a simple combination of fruits and ambers, but it makes my nose so freakin happy.
  24. topazphoenix

    Inferno

I like this one! Wet it's a blast of almond, which I love, but almond never seems to last ...and then it dries down to a lovely intense cinnamon. In Chimera and Bengal the cinnamon was watered down and colorless, but the cinnamon of Inferno is red hot and spicy. Yum.

    Magus

This is a lovely strong note of cedar and something slightly herbal-y. If you like smelling like fresh wood you'll love this one
