    Midway

Midway Resurrected In the imp, the caramel of the caramel apple and the airy sugarness of cotton candy. It's very hard to smell on my skin - when I sniff really hard, I do get some of the waxy sweetness of the taffy. When it dries, it's back to caramel apple - it's amazing! Definitely bottle-worthy.

    Hungry Ghost Moon 2006

In the imp, I get grapefruit, sandalwood, and sugar cane. On my skin, it's a sharp scent, yet warm - the grapefruit and sandalwood are still present, accented by the aloe. It's a cool scent; there's no heat from the ginger - but there is just a hint of the smoky vanilla. When it's dry, the musk is the most prominent note - the smokiness of the vanilla is there in the background, and just a hint of the grapefruit and ginger. Very soft, but amazingly complex - 3.5 out of 5.

    Tintagel

In the imp, I get the warmth of dragon's blood and leather over the mulled wine. On my skin, there's a spiciness there, from the mulling spices, maybe, in addition to the dragon's blood - the plants come through as well. When it dries, it's bright - the wine is a very sweet scent, backed by the dragon's blood. It's very nice, but I don't think I need a bottle.

    Green Phoenix

In the imp, I get very distinctive hits of lime, mint, grass, and tea. The papaya comes out on my skin, backed by the lime, the grass, and the tea. When it dries, it's the musk and the tea - very fresh, clean, and subdued.

    Blood Phoenix

In the imp, the fruitiness of the almond and the neroli are backed by the dragon's blood's spiciness and the round sweetness of the grape. The grape comes WAY out on my skin - to the exclusion of almost everything else. I think I get a whiff of almond way back. When it's dry, the grape with just a hint of dragon's blood spiciness, the lightest touch of the carnation, and the dryness of the myrrh. It's nice, but not for me.

    Mechanical Phoenix

In the imp, this is sharp, light, metallic - not unpleasant. In my skin, it's very light, but there's a warmth - I was VERY wary of this, but it's surprisingly nice - but I'm at a loss to describe it. Weirdly enough, I get the "mechanical" aspect the most when it's dry - it's a little acrid, very sharp, very bright. It's amazing, but not for me.

    White Phoenix

In imp, the best way I can describe it is breathy, but not suffocating - but I can't pick up individual notes. On my skin, I get just a hint of the musks, and the sweet tropical scent of frangipani and magnolia - it's getting nicer. When it dries, it's soft and almost dry - the lotus root and the sandalwood are the most prominent. It's nice, but not for me.

In the bottle, I get - seaspray! and the lemon verbena - it's gorgeous!! Once I put it on my skin, I get the lime in addition to the sea spray (which I had no idea what I would think of it, but I love it!!), backed up by the verbena. When it dries, there's just a hint of the sea spray left, over the tea - very subtle, very refined. Wonderful!

    Capricorn 2007

I'm a Capricorn, so I had high hopes for this scent. In the bottle, this is subdued and woods-y, with a touch of pine, amaranth, and hemp. On my skin, it's very well-blended - I definitely get the pine and the herbaceousness of the amaranth, but there's a lot more going on here in the background. When it dries, it's mostly a very dry, sappy pine - there's just a foundation of ambrette's muskiness. This is one of the nicest woodsy blends I've tried - and I'm so glad it works on me, since I'm a Capricorn (and a control freak - Ha!). Glad I've got two bottles!

    Lover's Parodies of Sumo Holds

In imp, this is light, sweet, and fruity for me - the tangerine is definitely the top note, but it's not the only thing here. On my skin, it's very light and subtle - there's a sort of secret sensuality about it, a light warmth to it. I can't get any individual notes from it, and the tangerine has faded. Thirty minutes later, it's completely disappeared!! I get the slightest hint of *something*, but nothing I can identify. So disappointed.

    Khajuraho

In the imp, all I get are florals - rose, davana, champaca. It gets a little warmer and richer on my skin - there's just a touch of the vanilla and the amber behind all the flowers. When it dries, it's even warmer - the sweetness of the honey, the vanilla, and the amber are prominent - there's almost no floral here at all!

    Red Lantern

In the imp, I get caramel and tobacco - not something I'd automatically pair, but it's killer, in a good way. On my skin, I get much more of the opium smoke - it's clearer and sharper than the tobacco; I get just a hint of the coconut and the delphinium. When it dries, it's a very soft tobacco with a slightly sweet overtone of caramel - I really like it! Definitely need a bottle.

Ebisu Making Love As Two Octopuses Look On

Oakmoss, skin musk, and nectarine. In the imp, I get light skin musk with a trace of nectarine. On my skin, the nectarine comes out - it's a very ripe and juicy scent, not overly sweet or bright; it's backed by the oakmoss. When it dries, it's incredibly light, incredibly warm - a beautiful blend of all three listed notes. Very subtle, very nice. I can't decide if I need a bottle or not!

    Love's Philosophy

In the imp, I get saffron & cream, followed by a hint of vanilla. On my skin, it smells like a delicious dessert - it's not quite sweet, but there's the silkiness of the cream, and the warmth of the vanilla, with the earthiness and the spice of the saffron. Once it dries, it's rich and silky, with the vanilla and cream out front - it's both sexy and sophisticated.

    The Spell of Amorous Love

In the imp, wow - I get the tea, currant, cherry blossom. It's so light, so sweet, so clear, so beautiful. On my skin, it's amazing - there's something almost citrusy here (which is my favorite thing). The florals are so light, the tea gives it depth, and the currant adds a fruity sweetness that I love - very sophisticated, subtle, but deep. Dry, it's still a beautiful blend of tea, currant, and light florals - LOVE THIS!

The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife

In imp, I get the salty hit of the seaweed, sweetened by the honey. On my skin, the seaweed is still the most prominent - it's backed up by the ambergris. When it dries, it's great - I love this combination of seaweed and honey, backed up by the ambergris. I get no mint at all, oddly. But it's unexpected, but beautiful - an offbeat and intriguing scent. I'll be getting a bottle!

    Oberon

In the imp, this is soft white musk and orchid for me. On my skin, it's very soft, very sweet, very beautiful - I only get orchid, musk, and bergamot. When it's dry, a leeetle bit of the patchouli comes out, but it's not overwhelming. The musk is there, and then a little of the orchid. It ends up nice enough, but it doesn't live up to the initial promise.

    Lear

In the imp, I get sage and bay - very strong, very medicinal. On my skin, there's a whiff of cedar there, but it's still mostly very strong sage. When it dries, it's still too strong and too medicinal. Not for me.

    Hi'iaka

Well, I feel like I'm at a disadvantage, because I don't know any of these notes - but here goes! In the imp, it definitely smells tropical - there are heavy, swoony flowers with a hint of ginger. On my skin, the ginger is just a hint stronger, but it's still blended very well with all of tropical flowers. When it dries, it's gorgeous, but very faint. Still a keeper - just an often-reapplier.

    Megaera

In the imp, I get grapefruit very well-blended with plum - the plum keeps the grapefruit's sharpness, and the brightness of the grapefruit helps highlight the sweetness of the plus. On my skin, it's a very sweet blend of plum, grapefruit and bergamot, tamped down by the orris. When it dries, the plum wins out; it rides high over the amber and grapefruit. I love fruity scents, so this is a keeper.

    Anne Bonny

I was very wary testing this scent - patchouli has emerged as the #1 scent-ruiner for me and my skin. And sure enough, in the imp, on my skin, and dry, it was all patchouli, all the time. And patchouli is not my friend.

    Rage

In the imp: whoa, dragon's blood - and....chocolate over it? There's not chocolate in this, is there? It's the same on my skin - it smells like a blend of dragon's blood and chocolate. When it dried, this changed quite a bit, and I was surprised; the geranium and amber make it much smoother and sweeter, but the dragon's blood keeps it grounded and rich. It's not something I like enough to get a bottle of, even if it's being discontinued, but it's not bad at all.

    Casanova

In the imp, I pick up a hint of leather & patchouli over anise and lavender - very different, really interesting. On my skin, the lemon peel comes out, and there's bergamot, lavender, and still a hint of anise. When it dries, it's very odd - the lemon is there, and lavendar, and bergamot, and then there's patchouli. It's not meshing well for me.

    Centzon Totochtin

The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood. In the imp, this is all cocoa and rum. On my skin, I only get chocolate. Interesting, but pretty one-dimensional. When it dries, the chocolate is mixed with the rum, which calms it down and smooths it out. It's nice on me, but not awesome.

    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

In the imp, I get apple and vodka, with just a hint of the aquatic - it's like the faintest scent of drinking and apple martini on the beach. On my skin, the apple is complimented by the lime for a very sharp brightness - the iris is in the background forming the foundation. When it dries, it's very subtle, very low-key - there's ambrette, iris, a hint of lime and a touch of the aquatics. This is my best friend's favorite, so I won't wear this often in consideration of her, but it's very nice.
