  1. I've been eyeing And There Was A Great Cry in Egypt for a couple months now, but I've been afraid to spend that much money on a bottle unsniffed. And now I don't know if I should grab one before they go, or not. I also really want to try Heavenly Love and Earthly Love, but I don't even know how to go about getting a retail salon blend.

All the Salon blends sound incredible, but with a limited budget there's always been something I want more so I've never tried them. Such a shame.

  2. I've been drooling over this scent ever since reading the description and I finally got my hands on a decant!

It is just as amazing as I had imagined - a sweet, musky cherry scent. It went a tiny bit powdery when it dried on my skin, but I think that made it smell even better. To me this is an innocent but sexy scent and I want more! Especially since it doesn't have much throw on me and faded quicker than most scents do on me. But pure perfection while I can smell it!

  3. I should have known better from all the mentions of honey in the reviews, but the references to vanilla musk sucked me in! Honey always smells foul on me and this was no exception. I also found it to be really strongly floral which combined with the honey to become a very cloying "old lady perfume" scent. *shakes fist at skin chemistry*

  4. I have to agree with the previous reviewers about this being a smoky incense type of scent. It's much lighter than I thought it would be and thankfully nothing about this screams "grapefruit" since I was worried about that note. There's a bit of brightness to this that might be the grapefruit, which really does give the scent some "lift". Something about it reminds me of the drydown of Hellion, without the fruitiness. I love the smokiness of Hellion so I'm glad of the resemblance.

On me, this doesn't have a super strong throw and fades rather quickly, but it's an absolutely gorgeous scent and I'm glad I bought the bottle unsniffed.

  5. I'm not a huge fan of wood scents, but I am currently obsessed with White Peacock, a current LE. On me, it's a sweet, slightly spicy wood scent and just gorgeous. I think I push this scent on everybody...

  6. I know it's not nice to get someone addicted to a Limited Edition scent, but I have to share the awesomeness that is White Peacock. It's still available from the lab in the Metamorphosis section of the Limited Editions and you can buy it until September 4. The notes are Teak, ebony wood, osmanthus, patchouli, red sandalwood, vanilla orchid, tonka bean, tobacco, wild musk, spikenard, and sugandh kokila. and it the most amazing woodsy, musky vanilla scent ever.

As for General Catalogue, I wholeheartedly second Morocco and also recommend Love Me, Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener (this goes on like root beer and then morphs into a drop dead sexy vanilla on me), Goblin (heavy on patchouli, but awesome) and Bordello. I had Lyonesse on this list then noticed you already bought that one!

Any reason why I can't find White Peacock in the list of perfume titles when attempting to add a new perfume to my wishlist/inventory? I don't think I will be forgetting this gem, as it sounds right up my nostril alley, but it would be nice to add it, just in case.... Am I missing something obvious here?

If you're using the "My Stash" feature to keep your wishlist organized, it's pretty out of date (since before the Yule update at least) and White Peacock is a very new Limited Edition so it won't be there unfortunately.

  8. In the bottle this is a gorgeous patchouli with a hint of sweetness and woody teak. Once applied, it becomes woodier and almost spicy. As it dries down it morphs to a musky, sweet wood scent with patchouli hanging out in the background. The patchouli here is the lovely sweet patchouli from Banshee Beat and the two scents resemble each other, but White Peacock is drier and heavier on the woods than BB with its amazing vanilla.

  9. Let me start by saying that I HATE lavender and somehow managed to miss it in the notes when I ordered my decant. That being said, I really like this scent!

It does start off with a blast of lavender and what I'm guessing is the chamomile. The peppermint steps in after a few moments, but this doesn't smell at all like candy cane peppermint. Once it's been on my skin for a few minutes it's just this gorgeous slightly sweet, slightly herbal scent. It's very hot here today and this is the perfect oil for the weather. Not my style at all, but I think I'll have to get my hands on a full 5ml soon!

  10. In the imp: Delicious spiced dark chocolate

Wet: Rich chocolate with a touch of baby powder.

Dry: All Snake Oil. Snake Oil tends to smell like baby powder on me, but in a completely good way. The chocolate completely disappears when this dries on my skin, but the lasting scent is a stronger, better Snake Oil. Love it!

  11. Every note in this is a winner to me, so I've been dying to get my hands on some of this. I finally managed to purchase a decant and now I'm heartbroken.

In the imp: Nice dark incense/resin scent with a "purple" feel to it.

Wet: Soap. I get a hint of incense and musk, but the predominant scent is expensive soap.

I tried leaving this on to see if it changed at all, but after about 30 minutes I started to feel a migraine coming on and my allergies went crazy. After washing it off (or trying to - usually Lush's I Love Juicy shampoo removes even the most stubborn oils, but not this time!) a bit of scent remains on my wrist and it actually smells amazing. I prefer my amazing scents to come migraine free though. Totally heartbroken, but at least I got to try this.

  12. This is definitely a pink scent! In the bottle I find it quite perfumey and I was kind of skeptical at first. But I finally got around to using it in the bath last night and it is much better once it hits the water. It turned into a very sweet, slightly tangy strawberry scent with just a hint of a perfume smell in the background. I was actually hoping for more of a cotton candy smell but I still like this one very much.

  13. Every note in this one is a winner, except the leather, but I finally got a hold of a decant and was so excited to try it out.

    In the imp: LEATHER!

Wet: That leather's still making its presence known, loud and clear. The red musk is peeking its head up, trying to get noticed.

Dry: Very leathery with faint red musk. I never noticed any of the other notes.

Sadly leather is one of the notes that takes over whatever it is in and makes sure I don't get to enjoy the scent. Rose and lavender are also guilty of this and the three of them have ruined many wonderful blends for me.

  14. In the vial: Lime! Sweet lime candy.

Wet: At first this smelled a lot like bathroom cleaner, but nice bathroom cleaner if that makes any sense. The lime disappeared pretty quickly though and got rid of the cleaner smell.

Dry: I can really smell the black plum and opium poppy with a bit of spiciness lurking underneath. This is a very nice scent, but not as dark or purple as I was hoping for.

  15. I LOVE vanilla and the Lab has made me love patchouli, so it's no wonder that I love this scent!

If it matters, I swapped for my bottle a couple months ago, so this is an aged bottle I am reviewing.

In the bottle: Sweet, woodsy patchouli

On skin: While wet it's mostly an amazing rich, earthy patchouli (no stinky hippie here!) with a rich vanilla lurking in the background.

Dry: I can smell the patchouli when I sniff my wrist up close, but the throw is mainly the most amazing vanilla I have ever smelled. This isn't a foody vanilla, it's a dark, sexy vanilla. Something also slightly reminds me of white chocolate but unlike most chocolate scents, this one smells amazing.

I have no idea what hemp smells like, so I can't pick it out of the blend, but for a relatively simple blend, this one is in my top 3 BPALs of all time. I just managed to score a second bottle yesterday from a sales post, so now I can wear this more often like it deserves!

  16. In the imp: Very woody/green smelling with almost a medicinal scent lingering in the background.

Wet: Very herbal and spicy with a hint of musk.

Dry: Lemongrass! After this dried down, I swear it almost smelled like a LUSH store with a fresh batch of Avobath bombs that had just been set out. Very strongly lemongrass with a bit of floral in the background. Smells lovely, but not for me to wear.

  17. Another hit with this one!

In the imp: Sugary, slightly floral coconut

On my skin: Sweet coconut with a musky/incense background

Hours later: Faintly floral, creamy coconut.

This lasts hours and smells amazing the whole time. This imp will not last very long!

  18. Smut 2012

Received my decant of this today and instantly fell in love. In the imp and when first applied to my skin, it was a gorgeous dark, juicy cherry scent. Nothing sweet or foody - this was a sexy, naughty cherry. Now that it's been on my skin for awhile, it has turned into the most sexiest musk I have ever smelled. I need a bottle or two of this for sure.

  19. I was a bit unsure about this because orange blossom tends to make any scent it's involved in smell like Sweettarts on my skin.

In the bottle: Juicy, slightly sour strawberries with a hint of sugar.

Wet on skin: A battle between sharp orange blossom and sour strawberries.

As it dries down this morphed into a orange tea-like scent. A little bit spicy and sadly, no hint of strawberries, vanilla or sugar. This isn't awful, but it's not what I expected at all. I'll let it rest a bit and test again.

  20. In the bottle: Smells just like a ripe pear!

Wet: Pretty much the same as in the bottle, honey starts to come out a bit more.

Dry: All 3 notes blend to create a warm, delicious creamy pear scent.

Sadly, this disappeared within an hour on me too.

  21. In the bottle:A sort of coke/cherry/cinnamon scent.

Wet: Very cinnamon with a slightly dirty background.

Dry: Cherry cough syrup mixed with potting soil. Sometimes I'd catch a whiff of a nice cinnamon/cherry incense kind of scent but other times it was just too overpowering. I washed it off after about an hour. Not sure if I'll be keeping this one.
