I layered Lambs-Wool and Samhain yesterday, I smelled autumnal and apple-icious all day.
-
When I first tried this I got a definite "scented candle" feel, like an artificial, pale representation of a scent rather than the scent itself. I was thinking about swapping it away, but I really wanted to like it so I gave it more time to settle before deciding. I tried it again a few weeks later, and wonder of wonders! Real apple! Then the apple recedes and it becomes a deliciously warm and cozy blend of sugared milk and spices, swirled with touches of sweet apple. YUM! Wonderful, and totally unlike anything else I have. This little baby aint goin' nowheres!

From the GC, Stimulating Sassafrass Strengthener is pure fizzy rootbeer, Bov Vivant is strawberries and a touch of the bubbly, and I find Persephone to be an effervescent scent.
In LE's, Earth Ox is super melon soda.

A celebration of one of the first commercially produced perfumes of America's Old West. A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar.
I assumed Tombstone would be too masculine for me and almost didn't test it. I'm glad I did! It's a gorgeous spicey, rich and creamy vanilla that sits somewhere between Snake Oil and Love's Philosophy! Mmmm, so good, if it stays this glorious I'll be needing a bottle. -
Huh. I wasn't expecting to like this, but it turns out to be a really feisty sort of rich, sweet incense with the salty woods underneath! Very womanly, but very wild. I think I'll be keeping the imp. I think frankincense is a fail-safe note on me, I've really liked every blend I've tried with it.

Boo
in Halloweenie
Oh. My. God. So goooood my mouth is watering! It smells like all things fluffy, white and sweet! It begins as cool, clean, airy sheets encrusted with cotton candy, marshmallow, and sugar, then warms up to a snuggly cozy blanket with sticky cotton candy, gooey sugar, and melted, ever so slightly buttery marshmallow. It's simply delicious from start to finish, divinely foody, and I'm thrilled to have a bottle. A-1 stuff!

I only tried AL once, but to me it was a dead ringer for Faith.

This nearly brought me to tears when I first smelled it in the bottle and tried it on... despite my success with Bewitched I initially got the dreaded "cat pee" smell! I gritted my teeth and hung in there, and about 5 minutes later I was richly rewarded. This morphs into a delicious blackberries and cream version of my all-time favorite BPAL, Gennivre!!! It's what you'd get if you swapped out Gennivre's mint and citrusy notes for blackberries and sweet vanilla. I'll definitely be treasuring my bottle, even though the unpleasant start to the scent means wearing it takes a bit of planning. This lady's worth the trouble though!

Wow, I've never reviewed this one? Really!? It was in my first order! Bad Lady, BAD!
Fairy Market is just the perfect confection of sugared grasses and flowers, with traces of sweet incense and what actually comes across as morning dew! It's ridiculously evocative of its namesake, completely gorgeous and I love it to pieces. It's perfect for bedtime, or any time I want to feel relaxed and dreamy (which is a lot actually) and I'll never be without it.

Wow... this is delicious. I get the most mouthwateringly foody vanilla cream, dusted with the most subtle breath of spices. The spice is barely detectable, but it enriches the vanilla. My mouth actually waters when I put this on, and my heart absolutely ACHES for a bottle!

Beautiful fruity floral scent, very "opalescent white", and the most fae thing I've ever smelled! I'm happy to have a bottle, though I'm not sure if I'll be using it again for a while. It's definitely not an Autumn scent, though the iciness of it may suit Winter. Pure loveliness and so suited to the fairy queen!

I just tried it for the first time today, and I have to agree that Black Opal really does fit this description.

I've definitely gotten that "sophisticated rich bitch" vibe from a few. I find opium especially gives an expensive perfume edge to a scent, so much so that I run screaming from every blend that has it.
Epoque: Sweet opium, Lily of the Valley, vanilla, mandarin and red sandalwood.
Languor: Paperwhite and black narcissus, three lilies, black poppy and tuberose and a hint of hypnotic opium den haze.
Hell's Belle: Oleander with wet, sweet mandarin, lush magnolia, a rush of deep musk and a touch of spice.
And as for LE's, I thought Lady Lilith and Crow Moon smelled incredibly high-end and expensive.

Thanks for that Gingiemay! These old-timey photo labels are just so right for Halloween. They remind me of a lot of the old photograph style BPAL postcards.
Man, I want the color Mircalla! I have the black and white version, however, along with Lambs-Wool. -
The labels are awesome this year! Anyone have pics of Lambs-wool?

I can never wear Mouse's Long & Sad Tale unless I want naughty happenings to be a-brewing. The crazy hypnotic effect it has on my husband rubbed off on me through association, I think. It feels kind of weird having your surefire, ultimate-weapon, sex-in-a-bottle scent inspired by a quirky cute Alice in Wonderland poem, but there you are.

Oh... wow! To me this smells kind of like Moon Mist ice cream, but with a sexy musky undertone. In time it gets a bit spicier and more floral, but still Moon Misty, which makes me smile. Gorgeous, and really sexy, I didn't think I'd like this so much!

This is what I have discovered on my quest to find the perfect BPAL equivalent to Lush's jasmine scents.Peitho is the most similar to Lush's jasmine note that I've found in BPAL. There are minor differences between Flying Fox, Godiva, and Youki-Hi but they all have that Peitho-y jasmine in them.
I like to layer Peitho with a little bit of Kuang Shi, and it's a dead ringer for Godiva. Youki-Hi is jasmine with ylang ylang, cypress, and gardenia but I swear I smell some kind of cotton candy berries in it too. I remember reading in the reviews for Skuld (ylang ylang and honey) that it smelled grapey? Maybe it is the ylang ylang in Youki Hi that I'm smelling. Anyway, I bet anything that Peitho + Skuld = Youki-Hi
I'm a Flying Fox FIEND! I have an imp of Peitho and like it a lot, I'm going to have to try and get a hold of some Skuld to experiment, because that sounds like a great combo! Thanks!
As a side note I'd like to share that Snake Oil and Lush's Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar make you smell like the world's sexiest milkshake. Yummy.

I definitely second faylie's Rose Cross suggestion! Persephone might be nice too, it's sweet red rose and juicy pomegranate. These two are some of my favorite roses ever!

Persephone
in Excolo
Roses are my favorite flowers, Pomegranate is my favorite fruit, and Persephone is one of my all-time favorite deities, so I didn't even want to think about this not working! Thankfully that wasn't an issue- this is beautiful! It's rosy and juicy and sparkly sweet, just wonderful. It's maybe in the same family as Hope, if you swapped out pink rose for red and sugar for juice. It felt like a scent I always should have had, and I stepped into it like a pair of bunny slippers from the Underworld.
So glad I swapped with the lovely Catwoman30 for a (cobalt!) bottle! It's lurve!

I'm dying for a scent like Tetley's Vitality herbal tea, which is apparently 100% peppermint. I never liked mint (too toothpasty and mouthwashy, I thought) but when I opened the canister of this, the most refreshingly gorgeous, natural, sweet, delicious scent just slapped me upside the head! I was smitten! I posted about this in the mint thread but got no reply, but I just realized it fits here too! So what do you think? Green Tree Viper? Juke Joint? Please help!
-
I'm bumping this because the other day I opened a canister of Tetley's Vitality herbal tea (100% peppermint) and the scent that hit me was gorgeous! I just kept huffing it, it was sooo good. I always associated mint with the smell of toothpaste and mouthwash, but this was the most glorious sweet, green, natural smell. I'd love to find something like it! I have Gennivre, and she's one of my absolute favorites but I don't get much mint there...

I can't help thinking that Rose Red would be wonderful with a red dress, plus I find it to be a really beautiful calming, happy scent.

Snow White
in Yules
Mmm, I've finally got my own bottle of Snow White! I'd tried a decant of the '05 version and was in love, but I was afraid I wouldn't get the same glorious scent from a new bottle. I happily get the same beautiful cherryblossom/vanilla/snow/greenery scent I adore. With a few weeks of aging it should be utterly perfect. This will most likely be the scent I'll be wearing for my wedding in May.

Starts as a sorta-semi-pleasant powder/cherry/flower confusion, then turns into essence of bug spray. No thanks.
