Of bubble baths and spiders

Do you like bubble baths? I luuuurve bubble baths. And I am a damn picky bitch about my bubble bath. I used to like the Kiss My Face Peaceful Patchouli bubble bath, but they changed the formula and the bubbles leave much to be desired. I went to Victoria's Secret last week (big shock there...) and got some of their bubble bath, and it's not bad. I got the Strawberries and Champagne scent, which is rather unlike me, but that scent combo has prurient associations (in my head only, not based on any actual experience) and I couldn't resist.

I actually enjoy the V'Tae bath salts in the Sacred Fire scent. That is a really, really sexy scent that is also very comforting. Their verbiage on the package always gets me -- "Anoint. Intoxicate. Enchant. Goddess. Ritual. Magic." Ah, it evokes a web-spinner to me. I just wish they made it in a bubble bath.

And I am a bit of a web-spinner. I don't mind spiders one little bit. I don't pick them up and play with them, but I tend to give them their space and I never want to hurt them. I once got rather upset with a secretary in my office who recounted screaming and running around her kitchen at the sight of a spider before beating it to death with a broom so hard that her kids couldn't even find the carcass when she was finished. The story kind of gave me a pain through the heart. I know we all have our phobias, but holy crap, show some restraint.

Now how the hell did I get here from where I started, on bubble baths? Well let me tell you, if there's a spider in my tub and I want to take a bath, I get a magazine and respectfully move it to a secluded corner of the bathroom. They aren't stupid -- they'll stay away from hot water and bubbles.

Off to my ritual and magic in bubbleland...

I looooove bubble baths and Lush's Tramp is my number one bubble bath. Makes me feel like a woodland creature (if they took baths). The only other source of bubbles that has come close is Lush's Blue Skies bubble bar, but I tend to have an aversion to the sweetness that pervades the Lush bath products, so Blue Skies isn't nearly as good as Tramp. I also love spiders (though I don't really want to touch them) and am constantly scooping them up and tossing them outside. It's funny that you mentioned the spider in the bath, because I keep my bath pillow up on a shelf and one time there was obviously a spider lounging about on it, because I plopped it in the tub and there was this poor spider floating on the water. I think I more or less rescued him, but since I don't know the long term effects of bubble bath exposure on arachnids, I can't say for sure. :D

I used to love baths when I lived in an apartment that had a huge beautiful clawfoot tub in it. Since then I've lived in places with stupid stubby bathtubs, and I'm totally uninterested in that kind of bath. I used to fill the bath with just slightly warmer than body temperature water, hook my arms over the side so I wouldn't drown, and take naps in the bath.

As for spiders, I am quite frightened of them. The little grey house spiders don't freak me out too much, but anything more exotic than that? No way. I will be cowering, petrified in the complete opposite end of the apartment screaming to Rusty to take care of it. But I don't let him kill them since it's bad luck.

I have a freaked out/intrigued by response to spiders. I'll watch them for hours from a safe distance. It's the flying cockroaches that make me shriek, flail, and go into a berzerker rage.

And I've recently gotten into bubble baths with the LUSH bubble bar slices. Mostly hot toddy and ruby red slippers. There's something sort of wicked about bathing in reddish water.

We are contemplating a garden tub for two in the second bathroom of our soon-to-be house. The Mister takes baths almost as often as I, only his are usually more for muscle therapy purposes. But with a tub large enough for both of us.... well, maybe he could swing a little recreational use too. :P
