Fall Switch Witch 2011

so many questions...   September 14th   Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? Life's made of stories and I gotta catch 'em all.   How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? I cook with booze, but I don't drink it.   What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) I can't eat a lot of sweet stuff, but I can eat a bit and share with my neighbors.   Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? I'm not super fond.   Anything from the update ya'll are liking? BPTP UPDATE I got tiny bits and pieces from a circle, but the one thing I'll probably end up wanting is the sugar skull soap.   Does anyone like kimchi? Nope!   Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I don't use that much by way of beauty supplies   You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? ALL THE THINGS. But I'd get the GC bottles I've wanted (Fairy Wine, Embalming Fluid, Morocco) and some SGA and Embalming Fluid soap and I'd get a pretty scent locket and pretty much any LE that even almost catches my eye.   Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? Pretty much their entire update looks lovely.   Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes Not really.   How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I don't need any stationery, but that doesn't mean I don't love it!   Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Confetti, yes. Glitter's a bit harder to clean up.   Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? ?????   How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? I liiiike them, but in my dorm, I don't have a lot of room.   how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did? Pretty interested! :3     September 13th   How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? I don't need an awful lot, tbh.   How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? I had a dark blue dress that fluttered when I walked. It showed off my magnificent bosom.   Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) Yes!   Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? Awww, yes. A lot of my coffee cups broke in the move.     September 12th   Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Sure! I have a Nook, but if it's not DRM encoded, it can handle most any format.   If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? No kids!   Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) I already have a handbag that I'm very fond of.     If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I drink a lot of tea, but most of it is decaf. I drink a looot of rooibos.   September 11th   I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.) I dislike used clothing and things you eat off of, but books and DVDs and such are fine for me.   Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY   what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Chocolate and nuts and caramel... Also fruity stuff like Skittles and Starburst! And sour! I love Sweettarts.   Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. Soap. I tend to actually USE fruity scents.   How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? Not with mint or fruit, but I love it with nuts, peanut butter, or pretzels.   Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? I do! But I have a million.   Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! Yes!     Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? Sure! I'm not super fond of wool 'coz it's itchy, but I love things that are green and blue and purple.   This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? Not really.   And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? I love EVERYTHING in particular from Think Geek.           September 10th   What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? I'm not really obsessed with any, but I've been very pleased by the recent trend in putting eye candy in superhero movies.   are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? All but Discord sound lovely.   If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? Lokibear loves toys and treats! He likes it when they squeak. My cats are more boring.   What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? Snow, Glass, Apples. I've never tried any of the bath oils or sprays.   Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? I like them! I have to be a little careful with my caffeine intake, but I indulge in caffeinated drinks every so often. I'd love to try new ones.   Are you going away for any part of this round? Nope!   Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Sure!   If your witch were going somewhere on a vacation during the round, would you want a little souvenir? Yes, I'd like that!   Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? I can't actually be that active due to medical problems, but I stretch a lot. I like being outside when it's very cool out. Fall is my favorite!   Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? I do!   Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? LOTS OF THEM. I'm not sure I could remember them all off the top of my head, but I've seen and liked at least Wicked, The Lion King, Shrek the Musical (don't judge, it was way better than expected), 9-5, Sweeney Todd, Batboy, Seussical, Phantom, Avenue Q...etc...   I did not like Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson or Coraline. (I was so disappointed!) I saw Spider-Man and it was glorious, but possibly not for the reasons they'd hoped.     September 9th   Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? No!   - Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? I am a huge fan! Umm, kitchen stores, Think Geek, Midtown Comics, B&N, Amazon...   Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? I love tons of them, especially trickster tales, but my favorite has always been The Goose Girl.   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? I listen to music and talk to friends, usually. I often read/watch really fluffy things, too.   What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I'm not super into X-Men, but I do like Nightcrawler. I love Runaways, Nextwave, and Young Avengers, and my favorite Avengers comic is Marvel Adventures: Avengers. I love me some fluff, and I dislike the grimdark direction a lot of comics have taken of late. (Despite that, I adore Irredeemable.)   I used to be pretty into DC, but I'm still upset over the whole Oracle thing...so... I read a lot of BOOM! comics now instead. I also read Hellboy/BPRD and Fables.   Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? Nope! Umm...a red panda, I think.   What are you going to be for Halloween? I don't know yet! D: I had some plans, but they fell through.   If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.) I don't really do jewelry.   How do you feel about nick-knacks? I don't have a lot of space for them anymore. D:   What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? They're mostly food related! I had a lot during the fall I missed, though, when we moved south. Halloween Switch Witch 2010!

FIRST! A FEW IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS, YAY!   Number one, I'll be out of town from October 5th through 11th for NYCC. Because I'm a nerd.   Number two, I've accidentally linked you to the wrong wishlist! That other one is woefully outdated. Here's a link to the new one: Link!   Number three: My mail goes to a place other than my house. I can totally go over super quick if I have warning, though! So if you send me anything perishable, please let me know ahead of time! I'd hate for it to go bad.   Additional Contact: Twitter: iletaitunefois LJ (flocked): cookinguptales Email: cookinguptales@gmail.com DW (hardly used): iletaitunefois Facebook: iletaitunefois   Hooray! On to the somewhat-out-of-order questions! (Ctrl+F is your new best friend. ) If you have any more, feel free to hit me up, and I'll update this blog as needed. (New questions at the top!)   How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers? Welll, I'm allergic to a lot of flowers, so that's probably not a great route for me. I love herbs, though, so I'd be okay with that! I don't have a lot of space for planting, though...   Cake truffles? Sounds good to me!   Favorite word? Umm...scrumdiddlyumptious! I love things to be both whimsical and delicious!   Cake or frosting? Cake, definitely. I have to be careful with cake due to sugar intolerance, but even a bite of frosting just sends me right over the edge.   Would you like a zuni animal fetish? And if so, what animal? I had to google this! These sound really neat, and I'd love to have one. A few of the animals I identify with are bears, badgers, foxes, and otters.   If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? And do you have any sensitivities/allergies to any materials? I love purple, blue, and green. I don't wear a lot of wool (so itchy!) and I like really soft, cozy materials.   If I were to send you a gift certificate for something would you rather get a physical gift certificate in the mail? Or would you prefer an electronic one that you can use right away? Electronic, definitely. I'm...really good at losing physical ones...   Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents? Pumpkin and kiwi are my two favorites!   How does everyone feel about glow in the dark radishes? I think they're adorable, but I don't wear jewelry.   What places to do you visit that you'd like a gift card to? Hmm. Thinkgeek, definitely. Also Borders or Barnes & Noble... Maybe an online comics store? I usually just get my comics from my local comics shop, but that might be fun for back issues! I know that midtown comics, and mycomicshop both have gift cards. And, of course, something to Target or something like that would always be appreciated.   Steampunk? I can appreciate the aesthetic, but I've just never really gotten into it.   Dried fruit? I like banana chips a lot! Not so fond of the other stuff, though.   Honeycrisp apples? Oh my god, a thousand times yes. I grew up in an area where we could go apple picking every year, so we could get all the good varieties! Now...not so much. Now I'm lucky if I can get an unbruised granny smith. Sadface. So that sounds AMAZING!!! Delicious and nostalgic and so much yes. If my lovely witch does send them, though, I'll need email warning! My mail goes to my parents' house instead of my temporary apartment, and I don't want them to go bad before I get a chance to go over! I guess that goes for all perishables, though. I'll make a note in my blog...which I'm working on... Haha.   Box for your BPALS or anything else? I'd LOVE that. My BPAL is kind of fretfully disorganized right now. It's mostly imps and decants, so they get so messy... Also, I'd love a place to put my comics. I've got them nicely stacked next to my bookshelf for now (the single issues, I mean--my TPBs are on my shelf), but there's gonna come a time when that's not enough...   What movie scared the bejeezus out of you as a child? Um, every movie, I'm pretty sure. I was super wimpy as a child. I specifically remember Willy Wonka freaking me out from the very beginning when Augustus Gloop got stuck in the pipe. I thought he would die in there, seriously. Name a couple of sites you frequent other than this one. Hmm. A lot of geek news sites (Geeks of Doom, Comic Vine, Geekosystem, etc.), The Daily What, livejournal, twitter, a tooon of webcomics (my super favorites are Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, Monsterhood, Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name, and ESPECIALLY Happle Tea), ummm...Cracked, news sites... Haha, I spend a lot of time on the internet.   If you could have any creature (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be? Real, a platypus. A girl one, so it couldn't stick me with spurs! They're so adorable and shy and awesome. Fake, probably a daemon. Not technically a pet, but I've wanted one for SO LONG.   Do you like the Muppets? Which is your favorite? Haha, see icon! Seriously, though, I love the Muppets. I feel a special connection Jim Henson's work for a lot of reasons--I've been on Muppets 3D at Disney World so many times that I can quote the whole thing from heart. My favorites characters would probably be Kermit, Gonzo, and Sam Eagle. (A salute to all nations, but especially America!)   Will you be going out of town during the round, or is there any other time during the round when it would not be ideal for you to receive a package from your witch? Yeah. I'll be attending NYCC in October, so I'll be gone from October 5-11.   What animal would your daemon be? Alternately, your patronus. Probably a red panda! Fun-loving, but also quick witted and fierce~! Also, the whole active at night thing, haha.   Favorite comfort re-reads: Any book by Diana Wynne Jones, mostly, but especially Howl's Moving Castle and the Chrestomanci series. I reread those at least once a year. It centers me. I've read them so often that it's seriously become almost a zen experience.   What are your favorite baked goods/homemade treats? I love ginger snaps and snickerdoodles! Also, anything with pumpkin. Yum! What would the name of your custom blend be? The description? As I said in the ?aire, I want a blend that's all over apple picking. Wood and leaves just starting to turn, along with fresh grass and a hundred different kinds of apples. To make it even more like my childhood experiences, it also needs hay and honey, because the farm we went to kept bees, too. Mmm, I think that it could be called Apple Nostalgia. Hee. And I'd want an applesauce chaser! How do you feel about short stories/films? I love them so much. I love a good collection of short stories, and I watch short films a lot. (Tarboy is my favorite right now! An oldie but a goodie.) Every year my father and I go to see the Oscar nominated short films, and every year our favorites never win. (I also like things like one-shot comic books and things like that, too. I'm a sucker for the short and the sweet.)   Favorite Halloween snack: Reeses Pumpkins! Those things are so delicious. I don't care what anyone says--they taste better than normal cups. Also, pumpkin cookies/bread! I love pumpkin so much, and this time of year delights me because I can get it in everything!   If you could be any person, being, or animal from Fantasy what or who would you be? Probably a phoenix. I love the idea of being able to burn away your old life to start anew. Plus, flying!!! If you could go back to any point in time, where, when, why? God, that's a hard question. Honestly, I'm such a techie girl that I wouldn't want to go back in time for an extended length of time. If I could go back just to visit, though, I'd probably like to show up in ancient Egypt. So fascinating!   Warm Drinks: I love them. It was a familial tradition to have coffee with everyone before bed, so I still do that as often as possible. It makes me all warm and ready for sleep. I also love hot cocoa in the winter time (shut up, Florida, I do what I want) and I drink more tea than is really healthy. I have a ton of teapots. My favorite teas are rooibos and Wonderland tea's Mad Tea Party blend (you can pick it up at Disney World now and it's so delicious), though I have to be careful with that last one as I can't have a lot of caffeine. SO YEAH, if you send me any warm drinks, please have them be decaffeinated! Favorite horror movie: Ummm, probably The Orphanage, even though the ending always makes me cry buckets. I really like spooky movies and psychological horror, but I detest gore. The first time I watched Pan's Labyrinth, I watched it with a large group of teenage boys--who had to warn me when to cover my eyes EVERY TIME. Hahaha.   Hmm...I really liked The Ring and Ju-On (The Grudge--but I haven't seen the American version of that one) even though I still get freaked out over Samara/Sadako sometimes! I also have this weak spot for 1408 if just because that's the room I lived in freshman year of college, and that's where I was living when I watched it, haha.   And then, of course, there are some Halloween specials that I love to watch every year, like Hocus Pocus. Last year I also had a marathon of Are You Afraid of the Dark? with a friend. Don't judge! That's my childhood right there, ahaha. Some of the episodes still quietly creep me out.   Favorite scary book or story: I really, really love short stories and films, so I can think of several short stories that I love. There's a short story by Neil Gaiman called 'Feeders and Eaters' that gives me the shivers every time. Also, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Most recently, I finally started reading Lovecraft. While the Cthulhu stories don't do much for me, The Colour Out Of Space kept me awake for a good two days. Some of the imagery near the end. Augh!   Socks: I love socks, especially when they're kind of kooky!   What is something you use to comfort yourself when feeling yucky, depressed, or in pain? I have chronic pain/fatigue/illness as part of my disability, so I have a bunch of these. Naps and warm socks, hot tea, and chicken--soup or chicken tenders--are all ways I deal with feeling sickish. I listen to music a lot when I'm unhappy, and chick flicks are just MADE for those morose evenings when you're all alone. I also like comic books when that happens, as long as they aren't super sad arcs. The cracky plotlines prove to be infinitely distracting.   Would you like custom icons as a gift? I do have my own icons, but I never turn down more. \o/   Also, as part of the cute-or-creepy question, would you want hand made, molded, glazed (by yours truly!) ceramic decorations (napkin rings, potporri/tart warmers, etc) to add to your stock? I'm of a mixed mind on this. That sounds fabulous, truly, but I am both extremely clumsy and in an impermanent living situation. I'm almost sure they'd get broken. Boo.   COMIC BOOKS. Do you read them? Are there any series you like, or some you would like to try? I'm a pretty big reader of comics, to the points where my friends tend to roll their eyes at me when I get started. I have some characters I love deeply, like Batman, Captain America, and Oracle, and some series that I'm super addicted to, like Fables and Irredeemable--but I tend to get in and out of series. I'll love a series a ridiculous amount for about a month, then forget about it, then remember several months later when I get back into it. I have total comic book ADD. So, my dear witch, if there are any series you want to poke me about, feel free!   Hallowe'en plans? I'm not sure yet! I am craaaazy into Halloween, so this is unusual. (I adore holidays, and Halloween is my favorite.) I know I'm going to Disney to trick-or-treat at some point (I WILL DO THIS UNTIL I'M 80, DON'T EVEN JOKE) and I know that I'm catching a matinee of 9-5 up in Tampa on the 31st (spooky, I know), but I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing with my friends or what I'll be doing on the night itself. It's a little far away. Mix CDs? I love 'em!   Girlyness level? Variable. I love cute things, but not necessarily GIRLY cute things, if you catch my meaning. I'm not super huge on pink or make up or frills, but I do like the occasional ribbon in my hair.   Baked goods: Always! Gifts for other household members: I live alone.   Are you someone who'd rather have lots of small testers of different things on your wishlist, or would you rather have one or two "big" things? Since I have a lot of testers right now (because I have the best friends on earth and people on the forums are amazing, oh my lord), I think I'd prefer a big thing instead of lots of little ones.   would you like to receive Groupons or similar deals/gift certificates from your Witch? Sure~.   How about tshirt/bottoms sizes? I tend to be a medium in T-Shirts (large/x-large if we're talking about dumb AA which delights in making me feel fat) and a 12/14 in bottoms.   Phobias: I am not super fond of bees, but am okay with most depictions. As long as you aren't shoving dead bees (or LIVE BEES!) in envelopes, I think we're good. I'm also pretty terrified of going down spiral staircases, but I don't see how you could do that to me via SW, so I think you're good.   How do you feel about mortars and pestles: Oh man, I have always wanted one.   Halloween decor: Cutesy creepy. I don't really like things to be gory at all.   When you go to an etsy wishlist, it will tell you what things are sold. If you click on the sold item, sometimes it will give options that are similar to what was sold, but not identical. Personally, I would love getting something similar to one of my favorites, even if it is not the same - what say all of you? How picky are you? I'm not picky at all!   Make up? I don't wear any.   Disney movies, Yay or Nay, and favourites if you do like them? Oh my god, I am basically the biggest Disney fangirl you will ever meet. (And if I'm not, INTRODUCE ME TO THE GREATER!) I live in FL and visit the parks a ton, and I love the movies like burning. My two favorite Disney movies are Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Frog. The characters in both of those movies make me so happy. Best Disney princesses EVER. And if we're counting Pixar, Ratatouille is basically my favorite movie, period. The music and the ambiance and the characters and--everyone can cook! I'm a chef at heart (and I love French cuisine), so the movie was a treat. I loved every message, too.   Also, I have a VCR and a DVD player, though I do have access to a blu-ray player that I can borrow at times.   What is your favourite snack food, something you could grab any time? Chex Mix! I have to eat a lot of salt for medical reasons, and I've become pretty much addicted to the original mix. I don't like the sweet mixes, but omg. The original and cheesy ones are glorious.   Ebooks I read them! I don't have an e-reader, but I'll occasionally read them on my computer. I prefer physical books, but I do love all kinds.   Nail Polish: Don't wear it!   Soft/plushy things: Umm, I really love plushies. UNFORTUNATELY, I have roughly a million of them, so unless they're either tiny or functional (like a keyring, which is BOTH), then I can't really have any more. Sigh. What hobby/craft would you like to learn how to do? Knit. I can crochet just fine, but knitting has always eluded me.   Are you into Austen's books? I am! I have watched the BBC miniseries of Pride & Prejudice about a million times, and will likely double that by the time I'm 30.   Do you read Tarot cards? If not, would you be interested? I do not typically read tarot cards, but I do collect them. I'm really interested in the Spiritualism movement from a folkloric standpoint, and the rise of tarot has always kind of fascinated me. Plus...they're pretty. Hahaha. I'm so shallow.   So for those of you who are into Harry Potter at all, which house do you think you'd be sorted into? Actually, since I just went to a giant Harry Potter convention about two months ago (Infinitus 2010, heck yeah!), I have gone into this in depth. In the end, we decided that I would definitely be a Ravenpuff. I'm cheerful and loyal to my friends and deeply silly at times, but I'm also so much a smart little researcher at heart.   What, if anything, is your guilty TV watching pleasure? I don't actually watch TV all that much anymore (just got out of the habit), but I have this extreme love-hate relationship with Glee. The show is so problematic at times (as a disabled feminist who cares about actually having good representation sometimes--yeah, that show makes me PULL MY HAIR OUT) but I can't stop watching it. It's like crack. It's just! Fun musical numbers! Guest stars! Sue Sylvester and Kurt! It's an addiction.   If you cosplay or need a costume for your bellydance/burlesque hobby (or any other hobby which needs dressup/different from your normal wear), is there anything you need/want for it? Hmm. I'm cosplaying as Oracle for NYCC, but that costume is mostly completed. I was going to be using it for Dragon*Con this past weekend, but my plans to go there were canceled by some pretty awful family business...so it's going to be worn at NYCC instead. So if you think of anything that might go well with that outfit, I'd looove to hear your ideas. (HELP ME BLING OUT MY WHEELCHAIR!!!)   Celebrity crush?: I have...a few... I've had a crush on Anna Paquin since I was like. Twelve. Haha, I'm not sure that my parents knew why I really liked watching X-Men so much...and now there's True Blood... I will also watch the Iron Man movies at length because damn, RDJ is fiiine.   Does Captain America count as a celebrity crush? Because I have the biggest crush on him ever, I am not even gonna lie. (Speaking of which, why do all my celebrity crushes somehow involve superheroes? WEIRD.)   Knitted things?: I love them! But keep in mind that I do live in Florida most of the time. I'm not sure how much action winter clothes are gonna get here, haha.   What about [mixed or otherwise] DVDs? I like DVDs! I use and abuse my Netflix subscription.   DVDs: Do you prefer widescreen or formatted? Widescreen   Music: Any preference towards MP3 or CD? I am good with both! I need a good CD ripping program, come to think of it...   Do you like scented tarts? I do, especially fruity ones.   Lip balms? Nope! I can't put anything on my lips.   Do you have any body mods? If so, do you need any new jewelry, o-rings, plugs, etc (and if so, what size, length, etc)? Do you like pro-body mod stickers? Nooo, I'm really not into any kind of body modification. My body is already plenty messed up, thanks.   Booze. Do you drink it, would you like some? I am straight-edge all the way (not that I could drink booze without collapsing even if I wanted to), but I do like cooking with alcohol. Desserts are best when lit on fire and I love a good red wine reduction.   What is your favorite artist or art style? (including if you have links to favorite pictures/paintings/photographs) Hmmm. Art nouveau, probably?     AND PS, ILU DEAR WITCH!!!

Switch Witch Fall 2009

QUESTIONS   ART What kind of socks are you wearing tonight? None! Unfortunately, I live in FL, land of the evenings so darn hot that you're lucky that I'm not naked right now.   Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most? I personally love shawls and scarves. I can only wear them when I'm away at school, but they're still lovely and cozy.   Would any witches be interested in home-made sewn type crafts? If so, what type? (e.g. tote bags, pillowcases, laptop covers, etc..) Of course! I love homemade gifts. icon_smile.gif I'm a sucker for cute tote bags, too.   Pendants or dangly earrings? I don't really wear jewelry, sorry.   Do you like pin up art/images? I don't really care that much about it one way or the other, tbh. They're nice enough, but not my first choice for decorating.   Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? Norman Rockwell, art nouveau (Mucha!), Van Gogh, Bosch, Rembrandt, Prendergast, Rodin.   New question, because I'm learning how to sew - if you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? I love all kinds of crafting, but I mostly do beadwork, etc. If you find any interesting beads or findings I would ~love~ that. Also, I'd love to take up batik again one day...   Who likes coloring books? Um me yes. I got a really neat one of Egyptian deities a few years ago when I was studying at UChicago. It is still my faaavorite.   MUSIC/BOOKS Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator? One of my Disney CDs, probably an Imogen Heap one, and also The Nutcracker, probably.   Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? I love to read! I adore Diana Wynne Jones's books, especially Howl's Moving Castle and the Chrestomanci series.   FOOD Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what? Well, as much as I love pumpkin seeds, I have to say that I prefer a big batch of pumpkin drop cookies even more. I'm a baking fiend at heart.   There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? I like chocolate (obviously) and some chewy fruit candies like starburst and gummis. Good quality gummi is amazing. I'm also super fond of marzipan and black licorice. I haaaate Turkish Delight, candy corn, circus peanuts and other crazy sugary things like that. I also don't like cherries.   For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? Um, I like nuts...but that's it. I tried the chili route, but it just kind of gave me a slow burn that hurt my tummy later. icon_sad.gif And I basically only like fruit fresh. Otherwise the texture wigs me out. (With an exception of banana chips--I love those so much!)   Coffee type? I like most kinds of roasts, and I usually drink them without flavoring. I never have flavored cream, but every so often I will use a sugar-free syrup in my coffee.   What's your favorite dessert treat? Anything with pumpkin, generally. I had a gourd mousse once that was amazing. icon_biggrin.gif Though I also have to say, I made a really awesome cake recently. It was a chocolate cake that used ground almonds instead of flour. First time I'd ever had something like that and it was divine.   If i send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? Either is fine! I have a grinder at my disposal and I kind of like having whole things, but there's something to be said for convenience.   For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? Sounds good! I drink both heavily. As usual, if you find anything fun or quirky for tea/coffee I would be happy to use it...a lot. .gif   In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? Um...books, maybe? That sounds more like a perfect autumn day, though.   How do you take your tea? I take my tea straight and my coffee with a little bit of half and half. I used to put sugar in when I was a little girl, but I've weaned myself of that pretty well. Except for pumpkin spice lattes but whatev.   Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else? Oh god, yes. I love to cook and I always adore cute, quirky cookware. I love cute ideas and bright colors.   What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? Sweettarts, actually. icon_redface.gif   Olive oil? I cook with it!   favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Ummm...I'm really fond of the burgers at Five Guys with cheese, BLT and A-1. aroused.gif   Coffee or Tea: I like both, but I can't have a large amount of caffeine, so decaf coffee and tea is best! (Rooibos is my favorite tea. icon_smile.gif) I'm also looking forward to hot apple cider this fall, yum!   Regional Foods: If you live near a large Japanese supermarket, I have a really sad weakness for Japanese candy. It's all so cute and tasty. Also, as a girl from up north, I'm really missing apples that don't have 'delicious' in the name. Also, Ohio buckeyes! I miss that part of my childhood. I will really try almost anything, though.   You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? I would probably see what 5 ingredients they were then look up something on the internet. I don't like cooking the same things often and am always looking out for new recipes to try. icon_biggrin.gif   Describe your ideal picnic lunch. Where would you go? Who (if anyone, and yes there can be multiple people) would accompany you? What sort of food would you take? And, of course, if a picnic lunch sounds like a horrible idea, feel free to say so! Well, it's still pretty hot here where I'm living, and I can't really spend a lot of time outside in this kind of heat. HOWEVER, if I managed to score a venue in a park up north where the leaves are just starting to change color--well, that's a whole 'nother ball game. I would probably take some horribly bad for you soul food up there along with a variety of cakes and brownies. Fried chicken and potatoes are a must. Also, probably a vegetable tray or something, so some of it's not TOO awful. .gif I'd invite all my friends to go with me, and there would probably be a lot of talking, jokes, gossip, and general goofiness going on.   SMELLY STUFF Lavender? Absolutely not. Welcome to basically my biggest allergy. .gif I have problems with a lot of flowers, but lavender is the worst.   Did you order anything from the most recent update? I got decants of Cake Smash and the Lunacy. I'm still considering The Fool. I love the story it's based on and adored an imp I was given...I really want to buy a bottle, but it's so expensive. DX   Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? I could! I don't have anything like that. I'm not picky about how big.   I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff? I love the smell of gardening. (Fresh top soil, water, greenery.) Also baking bread and melting beeswax.   How do you scent your home: tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Candles and especially tarts. I just got into them and I really love them!   What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? Well, I'm pretty new...so a lot of them. .gif I've only tried about 9 of the GC and about half of those were frimps...   SW PREFERENCE As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one HUGE final package to seal the sweetness? I admit that I LOVE getting mail, so I would like lots of packages, but it really comes down to what's best for my witch. I believe in your plan!   Individually wrapped or not? I love opening up little gifts, but if my witch is opposed to waste, I'm okay with getting it either way. icon_smile.gif I would say, though--my cats ADORE wrapping paper, ha.   Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. Um, I really don't like hard candies or candies that are like icing sugar. (Like candy corn.) I have to pace myself when it comes to sugar, so I'd prefer it if I made each sweet count! Also, I love planting things and gardening, but I have a lot of flower allergies, especially lavender. If you could err on the side of caution with those, I would really appreciate it. Finally, this is more a word of warning than a DNW. I live in FL, which will be hot no matter when you send your gift. If you're sending something that might spoil in the heat, you might want to package it carefully!     HALLOWEEN What's something you're really looking forward to in the semi-near future? Trick-or-treating at Disney World. Going the 9th!   What is your favorite Halloween icon? A big ol' harvest moon. Also, pumpkins!   Vampires or Werewolves? Or some other monster? I like werewolves more than vampires, but I really love it when someone pulls out a lesser-known creature.   How do you feel about ghost stories? Do you like to tell the old tales around a campfire? Read true accounts on the web way past your bedtime? Do you like to pick up a good anthology of Poe stories on a blustery day? Or is all that too scary for you? I personally spend way too much time scaring myself silly on the internet and I love telling spooky stories to friends. (And then, of course, jumping out of a closet at them later.)   What are everyone's favorite Halloween-y/Autumn-y/spooky movies? Are there any you don't own but would like to? I am typically more of a 'fun' Halloween person than a scary Halloween person. I'm more the kind of person to bake pumpkin bread for the neighborhood and play around in corn mazes. One reason I love Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Xmas, Coraline, and Ichabod Crane is that I can sleep after I watch them! Which I do. Every year. Ahahaha. Every so often, though, I like to watch scary movies with my friends or go out on a spooky excursion. For some reason, Asian horror always gets me the furthest under the covers. The Ring, Ju-On, and The Eye all come to mind. *shivers*   May I help you fill out your costuming wardrobe (assuming you costume)? Are there articles you are seeking to enhance your a) Halloween costume, Renfest attire, c) Cosplay, d) Steampunk accoutrement? Umm. My Halloween costume this year is mostly something I'll have to make myself, but I could use some more plaster strips for the masks?   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? I'll be going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney World with two of my friends. We'll be going as Lock, Shock, and Barrel. icon_biggrin.gifb Also, I'll be volunteering at a local children's book store to help put on a The Graveyard Book-themed Halloween party. (That's why I've been watching sales posts for imps of a couple TGB scents. .gif Gotta be festive!) Other than that, I'll probably be baking for the neighborhood kids and my friends and watching scary movies! OTHER   I've heard a lot of anti-cute sentiments in this thread lately. Let it be known right now that I adore things that are cute and fun and quirky. My Hello Kitty pajama pants that I am wearing right now attest to this fact. icon_wink.gif   What fictional character do you identify most with and why? Um... For a while, the character that I aspired to be like was Sumeragi Subaru (from the manga Tokyo Babylon). He was a character that was unfailingly kind and always believed in the goodness of people, even when confronted with the dark underbelly of humanity all the time. I think it takes a special kind of courage to love mankind even knowing that you could get very badly hurt by it. When I first read that manga, I was a very mistrustful preteen who'd been through a lot. He was the reason I started finally making friends. I've been happier since then. I even wrote my college application on him--and got in! icon_biggrin.gif He's affected my life a lot. (And also explains my deep love for cherry blossoms, even if they make me sneeze...)   I'm not quite there yet, though. I don't know who I'm actually like...   Do you have a Blu-Ray player? Nope.   Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want? I'm okay with downloads. :3 Just definitely no book downloads at all. My mother's an author and she'd kill me.   Birthday? Nope! May girl.   Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/etc. that still hold a really special place in your heart? As you might be able to tell from my icon and signature, I'm still pretty in touch with my childhood. I'd say the one I feel the greatest connection to, though, is The Muppets--particularly Kermit. I still cry every time I hear The Rainbow Connection.   Superpower? Teleportation. I have trouble getting around sometimes, and I'm late all the time! .gif   What are your favorite sounds? I love the sound of rain on the windowpanes. I also love the noises my pets make when they're happy. Purring and trilling and groaning (in the case of my puppy). Socute. Also, wind through dead leaves. Whooshhh.   Pain relief? I usually go for heating pads for a little while and then maybe a hot bath. Most pain medicines don't really help me. icon_sad.gif   Do you believe we control our destiny or that destiny controls us? I think that's not really the way to look at it. I mean, destiny is what it is. If someone could look at the long timeline of your life, they would be able to see your future. That is your destiny. But you still make the choices that get you there. I mean, the end of a story will always be the same, but it only exists because of the beginning and middle. Destiny is a product of choices, not the determinate of them.   The one thing missing from my life, I guess, is good health. I have a feeling that if I could just get around the house without trouble, the rest of the things I want would fall into place. That's a bit depressing, though! |D   Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? Not really!   What's your favorite animal? Platypi! They're super cute and interesting. Also, red pandas.   What are your phobias? I'm not sure if it's a PHOBIA, per se, but I hate getting wet. I also get really nervous and anxious when going down spiral staircases. And. Um. Dolls creep me out.   What is your favourite flower (or plant)? Hmm. A lot of flowers make me sneeze, but I do like daffodils. :3   Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? They're okay, but I'm actually really fond of my cute owl wallet. magtongue.gif Faux leather and bright colors!   An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money? Eek, um. I would probably get some new clothes as I haven't gotten any in a while, and then I'd probably use the rest to go to Disney's Food and Wine Festival. icon_smile.gif   Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you! thejobbernowl is the girl who got me into this thing and she knows me like the back of her hand. BUG HER, PLEASE. It's fun.   What's your favorite color? Purple! Close runner up is green.   Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? Um. Probably my old album. I've kept all the cards people have given me, along with photos, programs, acceptance letters, ticket stubs, and everything else I've wanted to remember. I'd also put in my mp3 player full of all the music that I love.   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. I'm working on getting healthy! This involves a lot of physical therapy and diet changes and such, but I'm gonna do my best! Also, college. magtongue.gif   Whats your favorite childhood toy? Ummm...probably either books or my computer. I used to sleep with books instead of toys when I was little. icon_redface.gif   If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? I have three cats and a dog. The kitties are pretty thoroughly enthralled with the toads and lizards we have around our house and for some reason aren't too excited over catnip, but I bet Loki could use a new rubber bone or a durable squeaky toy.   Are you a gamer? I sometimes play RPGs for the PS2 and Gameboy Advance. I'm playing through Persona 4 with a friend right now, but it's slow going because she's so busy now! I am in suspense, guys.   Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? (asian ball jointed dolls) Nonononono. I have a little bit of a doll phobia and those, right under porcelain ones, are the worst. >< I had to ask all my lj friends to start listing their squeeing and pics under cuts because I would jump a mile while scrolling through my friends list.   Historical Period: Most of the ancient eras appeal to me a lot.     CONTACT/STALKAGE LJ Twitter Facebook     WISHLISTS (Still updating and adding) Amazon Thinkgeek Wishlist.com BPAL!
