13 Days of Halloween! 2014

Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I don't think so. Maybe that I am not picky at all! Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm not a hardcore fandomy sort. But here is a list of things I like: Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, Resident Evil (the movies), Firefly/serenity, cookbooks (I know, I'm a weirdo, I read them for fun), Calvin and Hobbes, Foxtrot, Fraggle Rock, Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, nail polish, puzzles, Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I used to have one, but I got rid of it. I just didn't like it as much as candles. I love candles. Nice one, cheap ones, they're all my favorites.   What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? YAY! I can crochet, and I do a lot of it. But, the only things I've ever made for myself are some blankets. So, while I can do it, I never do it for myself, so anything made for me would be greatly appreaciated! I do get hives from wools, even the nice wool blends. I could manage a hat, since I have a lot of hair, it wouldn't touch my skin...but I wouldn't be able to wear a scarf or mittens made out of wool. Anything else goes though! For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I have both!   Incense, y/n? Incense and I do not get along at all. Would you like loose, fancy tea? Yum! I like everything, almost! I do not like jasmine teas, or roobios, or anything that's heavy on hibiscus, and licorice flavoring is icky. My favorites are spicy things, different chai type mixes, I also really like the white tea fruity flavors. And nut flavors. And chocolate ones. And green teas with flavors, black teas with fruity goodness, anything fall flavored (as in spices, and pumkins...not like dirt and dead leaves and rotting things). And ALL THE TEAS!!! What is your favorite fall activity? Leaves changing colors! The crisp air smells! The apple orchards! Pumpkin patches! The wee little kidlets coming to my door asking for candy! This is my first Halloween with doggies, and they WILL be wearing costumes! I hope to find a pretty tutu for BooBear, because she is a princess (and she has a homely little face, with a big underbite, so it'll be extra funny). And a hot dog bun costume for Bandit, since he's half weiner dog. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Bandit willing wears little sweaters when its super cold out and Boo had to wear a diaper after she got fixed in rescue (poor old girl was in heat when she was fixed and was a bit of a mess, my sister-in-law was her foster-mom, so we got all her information from fostering time), she didn't mind her diaper. So I think they'll both be ok with costumes. I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Japanese stuff! YAY! Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? Halloweeny themed would be fun! I do tend to wear bold necklace more often than dainty little ones. But I am equal opportunity! What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? I don't know what a malt drink is, other than beer type stuff. If that's what is meant...Yum! If not, I am curious and want to try!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? yes! I like to open presents! Ha ha ha ha ha!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? a present every day for me! Wheeeee!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? I like to watch movies! And eat popcorn with them! I have lots of popcorn kernels in my freezer! I put lots of butter on the popcorn. Butter is delicious! (I have a few movies in my amazon wishlist, we have quite a few movies here at home. Mostly I like actiony kinds.)   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? That sounds fun! I don't have any Halloween anthology. I have lots of christmas romance ones. Halloween one sounds awesome! Spooky/scary is good too! And so is stuff off my wishlist. My goodreads is very out of date. Amazon list has books I want. But I love books, so it doesn't have to be off my list either. Yay books! (I'm not much of a fan of inspirational or drama-rama stuff.)   Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? Reveal. Don't reveal. Its all good! Numbers, no numbers, both super fun! Present, present every day! yAY!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Sure!   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I can wear what I want...as long as I have close toed shoes on and my clothes won't get caught in machines.   I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? OMG THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A GOONIES "NEVER SAY DIE" T-SHIRT! I AM TOTALLY GETTING THAT! Ahem. Yes. I mean... There are things! Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? I'm sure there are plenty of things I would like! I'm not sure what off the top of my head! I like things! Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? Sure! I have a lovely sugar skull that I got in a previous swap. (Mr. Boy REALLY wanted to taste it.) Does anything from this shop catch your eye? Yes! It looks nice! I use lotion less than anything else, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at lotion! Any sort of fall pumpkin/spicy/fall scents. Not a fan of florals or aquatics. Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? No live animals/insects please! Ha ha ha ha! Anything that is fake or dead is fine by me! How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? LOVE THEM!!! I adore jams, jelly, and butters. For pickled things, I like dill pickles (hot one and non hot ones) and pickled jalapenos. Not much of a fan of other pickled veggies. Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Colors are so pretty! How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Yay stickers! I have a fair amount of stationery already, but like always, I don't mind getting more! How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? YAYAYAYAYAYAY! What makes you feel pampered? Fancy candy and a bath! I have a dumb question! I know it's a big joke that we get everything five years later than everyone else in the world, but is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? I'm intrigued by the thought of the coffee crisps that other people mentioned. And bring on the creepy chips! If I don't like it, Mr. Boy will eat! I love trying new things!   A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything fromPaintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Ooooh! I love Paintbox! The sorbettos are my favorite sugar scrubs, and the soap! So good!   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) no roobios, or anything floral or jasmine. Everything else is awesome!   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) Same as above!   How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? I'm not a fan of Starbucks coffee beans. I like their fancy froo-froo drinks, but not the plain coffee.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Oooh! Flavored! Pumpkin spice latte sounds yummy. And fruits! and caramel and vanilla! (Mr. Boy likes the regular plain via, so if you send some, he would be a happy boy.)   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? No maker for them!   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? tea travel mug!   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? I've been trying to find an electric percolator coffee pot. So far, the goodwills by me haven't had one.   Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? Whatever! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I don't usually sweeten my tea or use syrups, but if they come in a small little airplane liquor sized, they'd be fun to try.   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? Yes! Even less gently-used are ok by me! Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? Yummy! I am not a fan of bourbon. Or wine, I get migranes from wine. CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? YAY! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Live scorpions. I wouldn't mind some taxidermy. I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container,never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? Gimme! For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? As long as its not touching my wrists or face, I should be ok! I'm not sure about other fibers like alpaca. I know wool bothers me, even the nice wool blends.   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? I'm sure that I want everything from them both! I really am easy and I like getting things! YAY!   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? I don't "need" any. But I certainly would welcome some! YAY! Cute things are my favorites. (I have quite a few of the Animal House kitchen stuff.)   Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other? I like presents! I like things to eat and drink and things to not eat and drink. My package can be heavy on either side or right down the middle. Its all good to me!   Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? I have no shame. I like lots of crap! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!   And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like? Oh my! Yes! All of them! I like to bake and cook! I have many Christmas sprinkles and quite a few halloweenie ones. I should have more! And everyday ones! And spices and everything! The only thing I wouldn't know what to do with would be flavored vinegars. I don't care for vinegar. But if you already picked one out for me, just give me an idea of what to do with it and I will use it!   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I like them! I would need an 2X size. I am festively shaped....like a pumpkin!   Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Yes! I have shoulder length hair right now. I go between all the lengths pretty regularily, so even if its not something I could use right now, I will be able to use later! I can get my hair in ponytails right now.

Winter Solstice swap!

House of Gloi, I would like to try a butterbomb, or bubbling scrub, or sugar exfoliant, or a lippie, or a soap. Ha ha ha! I am easy!   When you think of light this time of year, does anything sound particularly delightful? Are candles your favorite? Or are you craving some strings of Christmas lights? Do you have a fireplace/woodstove and want some firestarters? And somewhat tangential, do you like incense, and if so what scents do you like? Candles and christmas lights. (Especially the ceramic bulb christmas lights, and if there are any of the individual twinkle bulbs, that'd be awesome. They're harder to find now, so if you have any that aren't getting loved, I'd happily take them.) No place for firestarters, unless I get really mad and decide to burn down buildings. I don't care for incense.   Are you going anywhere "dressed-up" over the holidays? Any swank parties, big balls <snicker>, or black- tie rainbow gatherings in your holiday plans? If so, would you like something fancy for your hair? Do you prefer barettes, headbands, ponytail holders, hair sticks, combs, or some other as yet unnamed hair implement? maybe barettes, or if you feel fancy, a cute feathery clippy thing-or a flower clippy, or really fancy...I like the idea of those little flapper-type headbands.   Would you like a little sparkly piece of jewelry made just for you for your special soiree? I'm not promising you diamonds or anything, but any gemstones that you are particularly fond of or that hold special meaning for you? I like rocks a lot. Like jaspers, agates, quartzes. Also, garnets are very lovely, as is amber. My engagement ring is citrine, and I love that too. And misshappen pearls. I generally like the stuff that isn't grade A, the flaws make things have character.   Do you prefer bold and statement making pieces or something more subtle and intimate? whatever you like! I'm easy! I have a mix of both at home.   I use naturally shed and found feathers as well as upcycled/recycled leather and fur from scrap and vintage. Are you vegan or would any of these be a problem for you? I also do not object to found bones and skulls.   starbucks/teavana: No thank you to starbucks coffees. They all have a burnt taste to them to me. I do love caribou coffee, or other kinds though. I use ground more than whole, but I do have a grinder. I use my friends k-cup at work, so cups for that would be fun! Teas are awesome! I like them all except for roobios, licorice, or jasmines. My favorites are flavored and chais. Though some tasty herbals are good to, I try to limit my caffiene to early morning only. I could use a cute infuser for a cup. I think I added one to my amazon list, but I'm not picky about it. One of the tea bag squeezer, fisher-outer thingers would be nice too. I just use my fingers right now. Looseleaf or bagged is good for tea! YAY!   homemade treats: I like treats! All of them! Minus licorice. Not that I know of anyone who makes homemade licorice. Mixes are good too!   sparkly: Of course! Glitter covers any mistake or anything you want to hide! Cover things in glitter! Ha ha ha ha! I really like glittery nail polish. Probably wouldn't use body glitter so much, but a sparkly eyeshadow or hair thingy would rock!   bath things: YAYAYAYAY!! Bath, shower, I love it all! My favorite scrubs are from paintbox, I like the ones that turn soapy more than the oily kind. I haven't tried a salt scrub all all though. Soaps are fun! And so are body wash thingies, and bath bombs are a special treat! I like bath oils too, and bubble bath thingies! I love it all!   things to hang on the wall Sure! Maybe keep them on the smallerish size. I have some wall space. (Smallerish meaning, maybe nothing over 11x14)   Is there anything that keeps catching your eye but which you never buy because it seems too frivolous? I could use a nice nail file. More dry shampoo, I have a sample from Puur that I like. It would have to be one of the lighter colored ones, my hair isn't very dark.   favorite colors: I like colors! All of them! I'm not super-fond of pastels.   Fandoms? I guess Harry Potter, Supernatural, Firefly, Star wars, Powerpuff girls, Fraggle Rock, the Resident evil movies, hunger games. Probably some others too. I'm more of a like the stuff and would wear a t-shirt or have a book mark sort of fan. I don't dress up like characters, and probably wouldn't hang a bunch of posters on the wall sort of fandom person. Smaller items are fun!   ereader? nope. I am dinosaur. RAHHHHHH!! *stomp stomp*   Hair stuff? Sure thing! My hair is too short for ponytails or chopsticks. Headbands are sometimes a hard fit for my giant melon. Flowers on a clip are fun, and stuff for helping curly hair. (It curls nice if I give it some mousse or something like that, otherwise its fairly wavy.)     Lip gloss/balm? Gloss and balm, yes! I tend not to wear lipsticks, though I do like things like the Clinque Chubby sticks, they're sort of in between a balm and a lipstick. I also am not good at coloring in the lines, so stains get a little out of hand and so do really dark colors.   Green thumb/plants? sort of! I grow some things very well. Particularily things that like a small amount of neglect. Things that need watering every day (or every couple of days) tend to die on me. I do very well with cactus, and succulents, and african violets. (though my orchid has just grown 3 new leaves, so you never know.) I have a varigated spider plant, so if you have a solid colored one, that would be fun to get a spider from that. I'll try any plant! (Mr. Boy thinks I have plant issues, and I shouldn't bring anymore home. Ha ha ha! Silly boy! Of course, a present plant would be different.) I would worry a bit about the plant sitting outside if it was in the mail though. Outside, I am working on getting my garden going. I would love seeds. Any sort of wildflowers/self seeding sort of things. I am going to turn the backyard into a wildflower garden. Also a little herbal kitchen garden kit thingy would be fun to try. I have more windows now, and most of them are nice east windows, so I might get enough sun for them. (I haven't tried herbs in my new house yet, just in the apartment, and they either didn't like it there, or they didn't like that they weren't getting watered much.)

Switch O' Ween help!

Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. YUM! I have had some of thier teas. I like spicy or flavored blacks usually. The occasional herbal (if its not roobios). Some of my favorites are the Valentine's tea, the Chestnut tea, and their chais. (I have some of all of those.) I think I have a gingerbread one and a peppermint candy cane one too. I would like their christmas one, or anything else that sounds nice. It would be fun to try a fandom tea, just for giggles. (I do not like jasmines either, so other than jasmines and roobios, anything goes!)   Do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? I do like video games. Mostly I play free games from Gamehouse on my computer. I like the little time management ones. I have a Wii too. I think I have all the games I want for there. (I have the lego games, mini ninjas, wii sports, wii sports resort, cabella's big game hunter, and a couple of the mario games.)   Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. You're a funny monkey! My witches and swap buddies have been very generous to me, plus I tend to snatch up bottles of things I like. I have no self restraint. I think I have a few wishes on my wishlist of things I've tried and want more of. Otherwise, the rest is stuff I haven't tried, and would like testers.   Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? I LOVE paintbox! I adore the scrubs. I'm not much of a lotion wearer. Soaps are always great! I like similar scents to what I like in oils and candles. Spicy, foody. Not a fan of florals/aquatics/clean scents. Pretty much anything patchouli is awesome.   Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I do! I grow things that people give me! I'm going to start working on turning the back yard into a wildflower garden. No mowing required then! So any wildflowery sort of seed would be good. Or anything else that reseeds itself for the next year.   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Sure! I have a magic muscles massage bar at home right now.   If you like earrings, what kind? Dangly earrings, hoops, studs - what kind do you like? How long do you like your necklaces? Or would you prefer to just get a pendent, so you can size the chain yourself? I like earrings! Necklaces, on the longer side. Choker length stuff is too short for me. maybe 18"?   If I were your witch and were to paint you something, what would you absolutely love, what would you feel ambivalent toward, and what would you not like to see or receive? GIMMEE!   Are there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start? I can always use more yarns, even leftover bits from your projects. I turn the bits into amiguri or kitty toys, and I'm all out of bits. Skeins are nice too! I'm not picky about what material it is made out of.   What do you think of hair sticks? Would you like a set? Love hair sticks. My hair is not long enough for them anymore though, and probably won't be that long ever again. Maybe if they were tiny little hair sticks, I could make two little buns on the top of my head...like a little kid with piggy tails. Actually, that would be cute, so I would like them!   Is there anything you'd really like to have/try from Trader Joe's, or any other popular-but-not-available-everywhere store? Not that I can think of. I have access to pretty much all of those stores.   Would you rather have something fun or practical? I like things!   Witchee, would you like a set of Cards Against Humanity? It sounds fun! I think I would like a set!   Table Games - do you play them? If so, which ones, and which versions, and are there any goodies you might like related to them I like games, but we have lots that don't get as much use as they should. However, I really want a copy of Zombie Dice. Also, I like puzzles.   Witchee, are you in need of any particular spices? Not that I can think of. I do use a lot of blend for putting on meats. We like all kinds of meats. (I do not like caraway seeds though.)   If you were my witchee, would you be interested in anything from my store or something similar? (Nut-made by LisaNut on etsy.) Some of the scarves are quite nice. I do need to get a plain canvas tote bag sort of thing too, if you can make one of them. I have a lot of patches/buttons that need to decorate a bag, so something very simple would be best. I plan to use it to take books back and forth to the library.   Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) a dr who pen? books about haunted cemeteries in seattle? you may have all of these things:) oh, and also movies. and cds. I don't do tarot. Pulp fiction paperbacks sound fun! I haven't made my Trading Post order yet, but all the Tricksy is going to come live with me. Ha ha ha ha ha!   Name some DVDs you wouldnt mind receiving, or are they on an Amazon list? I've got some on my list. Besides the list, I would adore a copy of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. DVD or VHS would work for me!   Do you want anything from Starbucks or Teavana? Tea, tea makers, rock sugar, tea tins, coffee, via, via refreshers, mugs, tazo tea...? I'm snooty...I don't like Starbucks coffee. (It all tastes very burnt to me.) I do like Caribou coffee a lot. Teas are good. I don't use sugar in my tea. And I like all the teas except licorice ones or roobios ones. Spicey ones are a hit, and vanillas and other flavors!   Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike? I didn't like the caramel apple milky ways or the pumpkin spice kisses. Everything else is delicious! Particularily candies that are shaped, like the batty peppermint patty, the pumpkin peanut butter cups, the snickers halloweenies. Yum yum! Decorations, I tend to go "not gross", all of them are good. I have lots of windows now, so stuff that can go in windows is fun. Lights are always fun! Some knick knacky things are good! Costumes, I normally half-ass a costume. SOmething like wearing a headband with ears on it, or a mask. Nothing really elaborate.   WHAT traditions to you partake in for Halloween? Knowing what you do our how you decorate or how you celebrate? We watch a Halloweenish movie and hand out candies to kids. I always carve at least two pumpkins. I have the little sawblades to do that. So more patterns would be fun. Or extra sturdy scoopers/scrapers for cleaning out the pumpkin. I saw some pumpkin kits that looked like lightbrites that get stuck into pumpkins, those would be fun.   Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? My first pick would be socks or mittens! Keep in mind I have a size 11 in women's foot, and I need men's XL gloves (and some of them are a little tight). Scarves and hats are nice too. My head is also big! And I've never tried arm warmers (My arms are rather large too, I can measure them if you like). Ha ha! I am a broken record! (On the bright side, I'm also 5'11" so small arms, feet, head or hands would look very disturbing on me.)

13 Nights of Halloween Help!

Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? Nope. Incense=church     How about scented (or unscented) candles? YAY! I take all kinds of candles!     Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Physical books are best. I don't have an e-reader and I'm not willing to sit at the computer to read.     Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? I am! I haven't read many of them, I have most of Sandman, and I have the Wash comic from Firefly.     Jewelry: Gold or Silver? I do tend to grab more silvers, but I wouldn't mind getting a bit more gold stuff. I don't have much of it, and sometimes gold is more matching, if I'm feeling matchy.     Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). Sure! I don't usually wear the nail wraps-I tend to chip the polish within two days of putting it on. Sometimes even the same day. My work is very hard on my nails. But, I would use the wraps for special occasions-where I have a few days off, so maybe festive?     Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? Food is one of my most favorite things!   Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? I like fridge magnets. And we have lots of room for them. They don't have to be from locations. And if they are sassy, that makes them extra good. Swearing on them is ok too, I have several of those!   Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc I'd probably only be sad if there was no present at all.   Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? Not so much.   What fandoms do you belong to? BPAL!   What cheers you up? Depends. If I'm really mad, the movie "God Bless America" makes me happy. (And I don't have that on dvd, but could use a copy-currently its available streaming on Netflix.) If I'm sad, watching videos of cows chasing rc cars makes me laugh, so does animals jumping on trampolines, or running and frolicing (frolic-ing? that looks weird...you know what I mean). If really sad, I'll just wallow in it and read/watch things that make me cry.   Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? Like a ghost? Mmmmm! Food! I'd say a nice mac 'n cheese is generally what I'll go for when I am glum or only slightly ill. Also, I like it when I am happy, and not ill at all! (I'll buy the frozen ones that you bake, because they're really good, and then I don't have to make a white sauce. I've been meaning to find a good/easy recipe for a mac.)   Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. I love recipes and have quite a nice little pile of cookbooks. Generally, I don't do really fussy/time consuming recipes. I like to cook food, and eat it. I do not like fennel, not a big fan of cilantro. Mr. Boy hates melons. (Except mine of course! Hee hee hee!) I'm a fan of desserts too, and I'll occasionally make something a little more fussy there. I cannot make gravy, and I curse whoever came up with the idea of pie crusts.   If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? I would nap a lot, watch tons of crap tv, and work on crafting projects. I'm assuming we're talking about having enough money to not have to work? Then we'll add in traveling. Lots of time sitting in quiet, secluded spots. Maybe take up stained glass, or kiln work. or something with torches. Plus, I'd like to blow things up with dynomite.   Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? Nothing that I can think of. I'm not really involved in anything. If people are selling something for their group, or a charity, I'll buy it, but I don't really seek them out.   What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? Our dishes are rainbow. But not all colors on one dish. Its FiestaWare, with 2 red plates, two orange, ect. I do entertain a bit, but I really have all the party plates/servers that I need, and there isn't enough room to store any more. (Unless you already found me something...then give it to me, I'll make room!)   Are your ears pierced? Yes. I have one set of holes that I change earrings in. Then I have 3 holes in the cartilage that I leave hoops in, on one ear. And the other ear has an industrial.   Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? I just have Mr. Boy (and he's my husband), he doesn't need any special treats. If I have something to eat, I'll usually share it a bit with him. Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? We have many coolers. I've tried doing the picnic thing with Mr. Boy, but to him....picnic means buying a couple of sandwiches from the gas station and eating them in a park. I have a few Solstice Scents that I like, and a couple of Villainess. So, I'm up for other companies. I usually don't hunt them down, but I've really like all the ones previous witches gifted me.     Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? I love Adagio! I have many, many of thier teas. So, I would say, I would be more likely to use the tea bag varity right now, I have more looseleaf than I'll get to for a while. And I only use bags at work. I have a nice big selection of their chais in bag forms. I like flavored stuff. Fruit flavors in green teas would be fun-I don't have any of them. Ok...so anything except for really floral things. I'm not a fan of jasmines, and don't care much for licorice if its the main flavor. (I had a Lavendar Earl Grey that was really tasty, so I don't necessarily have a blanket ban on stuff with some florals.) I'm all out of vanilla flavored teas.   (And, relatedly) What about coffee? Would you like to get coffee send to you? Whole bean or ground? What are some varieties and/or flavors you enjoy? Sure! We can use both whole or ground beans. No preference. Varieties and flavors are nice! (We don't care for Starbucks coffee beans though, they always have a burnt taste to them.) Winter Solstice Help!

if you were to come into an unexpected windfall (a huge amount of cash), what would you get for yourself? Not a house or paying off credit cards kind of thing, but something special just for you? Poppets! And some of those one of a kind poppets! And a glass buffet thingy, to fill with awesome teapots! And more awesome teapots!   Do you prefer votives, tarts, tapers or jar candles (if you are into candles)? No tarts, and I don't use tapers much. I like votives, and jars and pillars!   Are there any things that you used to love to have for your holidays/this time of year that you can't get where you are now? Not that I can think of...but I did have the chance to try some awesome German marzipan stuff that was coated in chocolate, more of that would be fun.   Where can I find your Q&A? I'm not big on roobios (though the ones at teavanna were tasty), jasmine/florals are usually a little icky. I like everything else!   Stones? Here's my Kaboodle wishlist.   (Some of the stuff probably isn't available anymore, like the soaps and such, If the neighbor's internets are on this weekend, I'll try to add more/take off the stuff that's no longer there.)   WoooooOOOooooOOoooOOooOOoO!!!!!   All your food belongs to me! If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? I like candles! Any sort of fall scents, or vanillay onces. I'm not big on florals or "clean" scents.   Marzipan? Yum! The real stuff is amazing! I got a few pieces in a package from Germany, and I loved it!   Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? I probably wouldn't use them very much. I like the idea of them, but they'd probably wouldn't get a whole lot of use here.   Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Sure! Sounds yummy!   If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? Mmmm...I got some native spices from girasol once, they're amazing and I would love more. TimTams and Caramello Koalas and other native treats are always awesome too! I'll take them all and squeee lots!   If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? Actually, if a knitter or crocheter, I could use a few more 12x12 inch squares for an afgan that I started with a swap here. Sewer, I would love to get some home-made potholders. Any holiday decorations would be nice too! Christmas and Halloween are the big decoration times for me. But I put out some Easter stuff too, and would for any holiday you'd like to make. Little table centerpiece sort of things are nice.   Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? I usually share snackies with Mr. Boy when I get some of them, so you don't have to include anything special. He likes seeing all the prizes I get and how happy it makes me.   Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) Yes on the colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets. I have quite a few of the Boston Warehouse animal stuff. I could use a garlic press or mellon baller thingy. No to the bento boxes, I don't usually take lunch to work. (And a previous witch gave me some lovely chopsticks.) Funny clips for bags would be nice too. (I have a hippo clip and aligator clip.) Spice mixes would be nice.   Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Generally, I won't wear them, so probably not. Seasonal socks and kitchen towels are a win! Oh! I've been meaning to buy the Hocus Pocus movie for ages (speaking of seasonal items)!   What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white,dark, etc? Dark is my favorite, I really like the ones with spices in them. Mr. Boy loves white chocolates. We both like little candies off all sorts, cheap chocolate and fancy chocolates are all good. (With the exception of the nasty plasticy chocolates-like Palmers.)   I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? Mmmmmm!!!!! Snacks!   Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? Gimmee!   I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! Most likely some candy, a couple of magazines or a book. Maybe a movie out of the bargin bin.   Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? Sure. Real s'mores are good. S'mores flavored things can either be good or blechy. I'd give them a try though.   What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. I love everything! YAY!   What's one random thing you really like and one random thing you really dislike? I really like dragonflys, and really dislike Mountain Dew.   Hey Witchee! I want to send you a delivery. It could be cupcakes from a local bakery, it could be a singing hugging bear-a-gram, it could be a bouquet of flowers. But it will be something that you need to be there to receive. a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? *waggles eyebrows* B..) Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries? c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? Special deliveries are ok! I'm usually home by 4:30 in the evening. If it had to come earlier than that, there might be some problems. Switch Witch Fall 2011!

Hello witch/random stalkers!   My wishlist is current and up to date, but I can add more to it, if its not big enough for you. Just poke at me or have someone else poke me and I'll work on it. I'll try to update my "tried" list, and possibly make a list of everything I either tried, or have in my stash to try. I'm really far behind on testing decants/imps/bottles that have made their way to me.   As a side note, I'm perfectly happy to get one item. (And I try to not buy myself anything during a SW round.)   Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! Like rocks with bits of fossils in them? That would be cool!   If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? whatever my witch wants to make! Wool gives me rashes. I like things that are machine washable. (because the odds of me accidentally washing it when I'm not supposed to are pretty high.)   Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? Sure, those sound fun. I also like the looks of the little National Geographic science kits and stuff like that (and my niece may have gotten a "make your own rock candy" kit just because I always had wanted one). Ha ha!   Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? Of course I would!   Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? I don't really wear bracelets a who lot, just occasionally for fancy dress up stuff. I tend to smash my arm/hands into walls and such and break everything I have. (I've destroyed about 8 watches before I gave up, and several rings got all deformed and broken.)   Added note: I like Ellebelle's photography. Contact her if you would like to get something for me, but don't feel like you have to. (I really like the plants and the close-ups and the trees, and the pictures in the puddles, and the waterfalls, and gateway, and secret passage, and the redwood tress, and the ferns and the fishies!)   If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? (The spice trade is a little over the top spice for me, which feels strange to say, since I love spices...but so far that's the only one I don't care for so much) layered ones that sound extra awesome to me: 1. unearthed, vanilla bean, espresso, chocolate mousse 2. limeade, coconut milk, lemon meringue, marshmallow 3. raspberry plum, buttercream cupcake, pomegranite fig, vanilla bean   ok, seriously, they all sound really great! everything!       How do you feel about terrariums? They're so cute!!!! *grabby hands* As much as I love them, I have no idea where I'd find room to put one, without making opening windows more of a dangerous activity than it is now. (I recently took out my aloe plant trying to open a window, but there were two babies plants in with it, so I can restart it...it looks pretty sad right now, everything on one side and half the top broken off.) Of course, I would find room somehow for a terrarium if I got one...it just wouldn't be easy.   What's your favorite horror movie? Not really a big horror movie watcher. I've seen some of the Scream/I know what you did last summer movies and those were funny. Ha! I just realized I have all but the newest Resident Evil movies, for some reason they didn't strike me as horror. (And Shaun of the Dead, but that's a comedy, isn't it?) I don't like the "new" graphic torture movies that are masquerading as the horror genre now. They're just too realistic and gross for me.   Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? FAIRY wings? I used to have some, but I only wore them to a wedding and one halloween. They wouldn't really get any use from me.   Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? Sure! That all sounds nice! I'm not really attached to a period or anything, I like pretty things though! And neat looking things! And weird looking things! Things are awesome!   I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? I can't think of anything I'd want to put up at work other than "i hope you die" and i'd probably get in trouble for that. (so nothing for at work)   Not sure about at home. I'm more of the goofy/sarcastic than the inspirational. Depending on the inspirational I guess. Ha! Once again, no help from me!   Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? I don't really get the appeal. I have a hard time reading her stuff, it feels more like work than fun.   If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. let's see, handsoap/shower soap is whatever bar I have opened, sensitive tooth toothpaste (I've been using a crest something) and deodorant is one of the Dove kinds (usually the one with ginger in it, but sometimes I switch it up for fun). I use lip balm all day long, like some sort of junkie. I love the little "add to a bottle of water" flavor packet things, now that its getting colder I'll be replacing my morning can of Diet Mt. Dew with a flavored black tea. Shampoo is going to switch to some sort of light dandruff-preventing thing soon (I get dry scalp in the winter), I don't use the head and shoulders kind, but a cheaper & less stinky one...right now I use any anti-frizz stuff I see, I switch brands everytime I buy some. (I've been wanting to try a leave-in conditioner, so if you see a sample sized of that, I'd be happy to see how it works with my hair.) I have a candy jar at work I use everyday, right now it has tootsie rolls and jolly ranchers and smarties in it...I haven't had dum dums in there in a while or starburst, those would be nice. Or something else. (If I put chocolate in it, I just eat it all right away, I have to hide it from myself. ) And I almost always am using a ponytail holder.   Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? I would! I like ecotools! They're the brushes I have. I have the little 5 piece set, so anything that's not in that would be awesome.   Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? oh fun! I would love a lego keychain so hard! (I may have ran to the video game store right away to get my reserved Pirates of the Carribean lego game so I would get one of the Captain Jack figs)   what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? I would horde it until I got my Weenie decants, then see which ones I liked. Or frantically try some of the decants/imps I have in my boxes (plural) of stuff to test. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha! Talk about foiling that question! (I honestly use very teeny amounts of oil, so I would never need a backup bottle of anything, and I've got bottles of all the stuff I tried and really liked so far.)   Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? La la la la la la la la! I can't see them! Actually, I don't really keep track or go out of my way to find non-bpalz stuff, but stuff that former witches have given me has been fantastic!   Sooo...Cthulhu: yay or nay? Never read any of it. But I like Neil Gaiman's Shoggath's Old Peculiar story. And the little cute Cthulhu's that I see.   What are some of your favorite paintings? I dunno! I know I dislike Picasso a lot, and really don't see what people like about his stuff at all. I kinda like the melting watches one by Dali.   If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? Nah, I'm more of the crafty sort. Switch Witch Treasure Hunting Helpfullness!

Dear Witchy Witch, if my bpal wishlist isn't big enough, poke at me and I'll add more stuff to it.   Since the Maple Candy Question has been asked, how do you feel about syrup? My family is hip deep in syrup making right now, if you were my witch would you like some? Gimeeeeeeeee! I love Maple Syrup and Maple Candy! And I haven't had any in a while. When my grandpa was alive and we lived in the same town, I'd help him with making syrup some. It was fun! And tasty! Once in a while I'll buy a little jar of it, but not very often. I'd never put some in a shot glass and drink it either. Nope. never-ever. Ha ha ha ha!   Do people like Roller Derby? If so, would you want anything from that sport? Like memorabilia or anything? I've been to a bout, but I'm not big into the collecting thing. If there was something postcardish sized, that would be cool as wall art. Anything bigger and I'd have problems finding a place for it. (Bigger as in poster size. Sheet of paper sized would be ok though.)   Journals? Sure. I take a long time to use them up, so I don't need tons. I write down my crocheting rounds/rows in them to keep track.   Clowns - boooo or yay (love em or hate em?)? I may have a slightly little clown man hanging from a spring on from my ceiling. He may have an eyebolt through the top of his that is attached to the spring. I thought he was cute, so did my mom....everyone else seems to think he's creepy. So, now he's my creepy clown man. You can pull him down, and then he bounces for a long time. Yay! I'm trying to decide if I want to buy one clown scent, or two, or get decants of all. I'm not quite sure about the absinthe or hemlock. I generally don't do well with grass and dirt-if its the coconutty dirt, and I haven't found a leather I like yet, so that one is really iffy.   Would you be squicked if I made you something with a kiss print that was made with my actual lips? (The ones on my face!) I solemnly swear I don't have mono, Ebola, or any sort of French disease. Bubonic plague is still on the table. If its something to eat, I'd think about for a minute, then eat it anyway (I'm greedy that way). Runner-up is the stainless steel scrubby thingy that gets stuff off of my pots and pans without being all steel-wooly. They're both fabulous! I love them lots and lots! Headbands tend to be too tight for me, I have a big head. Scrunchies are good, so are clippy things. I used to have a flower on a clippy thing, I really liked it, but it broke. I like the hair chopsticks too. Either lowkey or big and crazy is good for me! I'll wear both.   Chocolate. With stuff in it? Are you more a plain chocolate lover, a chocolate and normal items lover (normal items being nuts, fruit, caramel) or do you like weird stuff in your chocolate? Mostly Mr. Boy and I'll get one of those little fancy flavored packs that'll make two pot fulls of the little coffee pot (I have the little Mr. Coffee), and we'll maybe make one pot over a weekend. We don't have a grinder, so it'll have to be pre-ground. I tend to like flavor green/black teas, not the plain (I don't like jasmine though-its icky). If it was something like a teacups, I'd probably use it, not just display it though...so nothing that's worth a whole lot. (My favorite little cups I have, are ugly little brown ceramic juice cups my mom got for her wedding. They're of the cute-ugly varity.)   Would you like something you have to make yourself? For example, a kit to knit your own soft toy, or a card making kit, or baking kit, etc. And is there anything in particular you'd like to learn? Sure! I do not like to knit (I tried once, and decided to stick with crochet). Ok!   DVDs: Do you prefer widescreen or formatted? Given a choice, I'll grab a widescreen. But I'm not picky enough to keep me from buying or enjoying a formatted one.   Music: Any preference towards MP3 or CD? I do prefer a CD, I can use an MP3, but I like having something I can hold in my hand. It makes it more real to me.   Do you like scented tarts? I probably wouldn't really use them. I like candles though. I tend to burn votive sized ones the most. And now that fall is coming...I'll be burning them more. I really like the fall scented ones. They're yum!   Lip balms? Yay! I have quite a few, but I'm be happy to have some more. Especially since My Boy uses them lots. Let's see...on my walls at home: 4 little old-fashioned looking prints of hot air balloons-all in the sort of sepia tones, a brightly colored fairy my friend drew, a dragon I drew, a glow in the dark puzzle, a Mexican folk art cross, a big lithograph picture of grey jays, a 3-d puzzle of fishies. (the puzzles aren't glued-just in frames) Mostly stuff that just happened to catch my fancy.   Hallowe'en plans? I have an annual pumpkin-carving party. This year its going to be on Saturday! Yay! Its lots of fun!   Girlyness level? I like the idea of being girly-with makeup and cute clothes. The reality is that I have some makeup-that I rarely wear. I generally dress like a slob...I have a few "nicer" things to wear, but I don't wear them on a regular basis.     I like baked goods! No problem with them in my house. (I don't know if my boyfriend would eat something someone he didn't made, but I know he would eat some after I did.)   As far as a gifty for him, he would probably like that-but its totally not necessary. He does like to see what I put in a witchee's box, and is always happy to see prizes I get in the mail. Snack food would be a good thing for him-or a manly soap sample. And if my witch happens to be from Iowa, anything Hawkeyes would be a big hit. (He got really excited about an Hawkeyes energy drink one of the times we went to Iowa, and has it on display in his "game" room.)
